About this house rental
Casa Lacche is nestled in a idyllic spot near the beautiful medieval city of Lucca. Surrounded by meadows filled with wildflowers, the house has an away-from-it all feel. Sleeping 14 in comfort, with a fenced 12 metre saltwater pool, large garden, 2 living rooms and a big well-equipped kitchen, it's perfect for multi-generation holidays, or groups. Summer days pass at their own pace, in the pool, under the pergola, with long lazy lunches and dinner under the stars. Lucca is 30 minutes away. Florence just over an hour. Our nearest town, Ponte A Moriano, has a variety of great restaurants, from a bar/pizzeria to fine dining, and a gelateria which is one of the best-known in the area.
If you do need to work, or you have teens who need their devices to work, we have recently installed super-fast wifi throughout the house. All rooms are now video-call ready.
The house is on 2 floors. Upstairs there are 6 spacious bedrooms (5 doubles and a twin + bunks), and two bathrooms: a family bathroom and a shower room with toilet and basin.
Downstairs there's a generous double/twin bedroom with large modern ensuite bathroom which works well for those who find stairs a challenge.
The large traditional farmhouse kitchen is equipped with a 6-ring Smeg range, 2 dishwashers and 2 fridges. The separate utility room with washer dryer means you can keep the laundry under control and out of sight. Next to the utility room is an additional downstairs toilet.
Two living rooms with open fires provide plenty of space to relax in the evenings or out of the sun.
The garden is large, and recently landscaped. The shaded garden terrace is perfect for long lunches. In the evening, we have a cocktail on the west-facing terrace, watching the sun dip behind the distant mountains. We have dinner on the same terrace, sometimes putting something on the big Weber barbecue. For a special occasion, we can arrange a cook. Or you can buy oven-ready lasagna and other local favourites from the deli in Ponte A Poriano. For a memorable evening, book the cook to make pizza on our traditional pizza oven.
The beaches of the Versiglia coast are just over an hour away. For the more adventurous, the Garfagnana national park is nearby and provides opportunities for hiking, kayaking and canyoning, etc.

Just amazing property Lucca was lovely. The road leading to the house was no joke its really off-road. I had a rubbish car and it made it but you need to have some vague confidence.
Pizza night organised was really enjoyable had a smashing time.
Id say the house is definitely child safe but for a really active 1 year old we found ourselves constantly having to monitor him every second he was awake. But it’s defiantly manageable really nice stay and well worth the visit.

The view is amazing! But the road to the house was very difficult. So we didn’t go out a lot. But it is not nessecery to go out because everything is in the house en the pool is lovely. If you want to go out, the location is perfect. The beach is nearby and Lucca is a lovely city. The cleaning of the house could be a little bit beter. Especially the kitchen. We had a lovely vacation!

We had a fabulous stay for a 40th birthday. Great info provided by Lucy re: supermarkets, village shops, restaurants and the road to reach the villa. Lucy recommended Giada and Giocomo to come to the house to cook us a meal (accommodating food intolerances with no problem) and have wine tasting. Absolutely amazing food- all home grown produce and cooking from Giada and the paired wine and what we learned about it was amazing. Giocomo was so helpful and kind, giving us great pointers for places to park and visit that were lesser known to tourists. We got quite a few mosquito bites so we couldn’t sit under the shaded seating area near the pool but you can’t control the surrounding nature! The boys were very sad to leave the pool- a great size, nice and deep in the deep end and a great experience with the sun going down over the mountains into the evening. Thank you for letting us stay!

Great Italian farmhouse for young families. Enough space in and around the house to entertain 3 families. Very nice swimming pool and view of the mountains!

The house is in a stunning location. The views are amazing, and you are well placed for trips out to Florence, Pisa, north into the mountains. The house is rustic, full of character, love, charm and quirks. It offers an authentic Tuscan lifestyle.
The rooms are huge with terracotta floors (a bit uneven) and huge beams in the ceiling. New windows, with shutters, keep the rooms cool.
Don’t expect a fitted kitchen, you sit round the huge kitchen table to prepare and eat meals as a family, or outside on the terrace with pots of lemon trees or under cover at the side.
There’s one large wardrobe on the landing shared by all the bedrooms, but you really don’t need a posh frock here. Lovely big pool with a view and an outside shower, and shaded area, just down the path from the house. We loved the wildflowers, birdsong, rustling of the aspen trees (no manicured lawns here). Horses graze nearby and one day a fox ambled past. It’s very quiet, not remote as there are other houses dotted around the hillside, but a few kilometres of difficult road/track to get to any amenities. A smaller car is better for the narrow rough track. We only drove it once a day and never in the dark, but it was worth it to live with that view.

Beautiful house as described. Perfect for big families. Only the access road is a bit difficult, we had a Renault Espace which struggled on the dirt road due to the gradient of the road, but we were lucky as no rain. House is close to Lucca which is a very nice town to visit. 1 hr from Florence airport. Well located for food shopping. Nice view of the surrounding mountains, we were lucky to see deers in the morning in the front garden. We had Fabrizio on one of the night to cook traditional dinner for the whole family which I highly recommend. Very easy check in Giacomo was there for any queries as well as Lucy. Thank you for everything.

We absolutely blessed each day at this property. Yes, we had some ossues but all comes with the territory in this old of house. Every issues was quickly delt with by the owner and hosts. There were 9 of us ranging from age 9 to 67 and the house was so big we never felt on top of each other. The road in the first time is an adventure but you get used to it and becomes part of the experience. 100% recommend to those seeking to be out in the countryside with charm and luxury.

We became a warm welcome from the people who care about the property. Summarizing we had a perfect week there and we all hope to come back once!

We went to Lacche with eight adults and four kids and had a wonderful time there. The house is a very authentic Italian house with a huge garden and a very nice pool. We used the pizza oven twice and everyone had a lot of fun to prepare the pizza. The well equipped kitchen made cooking easy for our family. All family members were a bit sad when we had to leave.
Giacomo and Giada were really nice and friendly. We all would highly recommend this house with the beautiful landscape and an area with not so much tourism and nice little villages around.

We had a great stay in this house. The swimmimg pool is amazing and a must in the hot days of summer. A bit warm inside the bedrooms at night, but with open windows it was OK. Would highly recommend it !

After a two year delay due to “circumstances”, our family gathered at Lacche for an amazing 2 week holiday.
From the beginning, we felt welcomed and at home. The beautiful pool was a respite in the heat and the terrace was the perfect place for quiet early mornings or festive evening meals.
The gravel road to the villa was a bit of a challenge, but my Sons-in-law mastered it quickly.
I highly recommend this home if you are looking for a place to retreat from the crowds and enjoy the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We were all very sad to leave and hope we can return again.

Great getaway in beautiful Tuscan valley close to Lucca in a beautiful restored farmhouse.

This is a beautiful, old farmhouse with so much character! The views are beautiful. The drive up to the house is a bit nerve wrecking, especially the last km that is a thin gravel road. Our big van had trouble leaving a couple times, but we were able to make it.
The house is nice and spacious. We stayed there with another family, ten people total, and we had plenty of room. It was nice to be able to gather all at the table for our meals. Plenty of utensils, pots, pans and dining set to use in the kitchen. The dish washer was great to utilize as well as the washer in the home.
There are seven bedrooms! The three full bathrooms and one half bath gave plenty of toilets as well.
The yard was great for the kids and dogs to run around and play in as well as two long tables to dine at outside if you choose.
Although it was cold, two teenage boys braved the pool for about ten minutes. I’m sure that’s a nice thing to have in the warmer months.
Lucy gave an abundance of information in an email. Giacomo answered many questions I had before hand, after and met us at the house that night.
We enjoyed lasagna they had for us the first day of arriving which was a wonderful treat after driving all day. The pizza they make at the Bar in Aquilea Friday nights is wonderful as well.I
We had an amazing, relaxing time with friends here at this house and definitely recommend.

What a wonderful house with a lot of history and beautiful details.
Lucy and Nick are great hosts who take care of their guests whenever something is needed.
We can definitely recommend the house to everyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience in tuscany. Highlights for us: the huge pool and the terrace. Both with a perfect view on the landscape

We had a great time at the house.
The way there is a little adventurous (especially in the dark) but you get good guidance how to get there from the owner.
The house is spacious and has an awesome look with an outstanding view to the surrounding hills.
Would go back anytime...
Thanks to Lucy for making the trip possible in those difficult times.

We had a wonderful stay at Lucy‘s place. Really enjoyed the proximity to Florence and Pisa. The road to the house is indeed very rough but you get used to it. We travelled with 8 people so the house was quite big, very well restored even though some of the beds could be a little more comfortable. And due to the surrounding nature you should not be afraid of grasshoppers or other insects. We really liked the view into the green and the seclusion, thanks for a great week in Italy!

As soon as we found Lacche, near the end of a fairly long twisty gravel track, we were entranced by its old world charm and simple, spacious comfort. The saltwater pool is lovely and the psychological effect of drinking in the beautiful view from it and the terrace over the green valley and mountains is powerful. We felt totally at peace and at home and were sorry to have to leave.

Lacche was the perfect house for our holiday! It easily accommodated up to 14 people from ages 19 to 71. I have rented many VRBO and Airbnb properties around the world and Lucy is one of the best owners - very responsive to questions and concerns and offered wonderful suggestions (love chef Fabrizio!!). The house was stocked with everything you could possibly need and we immediately felt right at home. The property management team - Giada and Giacomo, are great! They provided a delicious dinner upon our arrival which was so appreciated after our long flight!! They even stocked some groceries! The house is just as described, beautifully restored in a peaceful picturesque area. The drive up to the house can be a little stressful at first - but well worth it and it gets easier with each trip! Thank you Lucy and Nick for opening your home to us and we hope one day to return.

Lovely house, wonderfully restored. Incredible view across wooded hills to the mountains. Fabulous pool. Warm welcome from Giacomo & Giada. Easy communications with Lucy.
We also enjoyed ... the "Sapori Antichi" Gastronomia in Ponte a Moriano - we ordered 3 lasagne and one pasta ai funghi to feed 12 of us - the village shop & bar in Aquileia, the insanely huge Essalunga supermarket at Marlia. And three trips (one on the way to the airport) to Lucca, for cycling around the walls, sitting around in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, eating pizza and gelato, and climbing the Torre Guinigi for the best view possible.
The only down side, which we did our best to stoically ignore, was the relentless attack of the local zanzare (mosquitoes). We have never come across them before in Italy, and according to Giacomo neither have they!
Bonus - the sound of wolves in the hills (not Giada's favourite animal, as she keeps sheep)
We hope to return before too long, and would totally recommend Casa Lacche for large family gatherings like ours... A wonderful holiday house.

Beautiful, rustic villa that has been very sympathetically restored. Pool and view are stunning and whole place was great for a large group.
Only minor downsides were the mosquitos (particularly bad this year due to the weather) and track to the property for the last 0.5mile ish, pretty rough and tough when you have a full car.
These are minor issues that overall do not detract from how lovely this villa and location are.

We had such a wonderful stay at Villa Lacchè.
Amazing surroundings, a lot to see; we went to Pisa and several times to Lucca, where we biked tandems round the wall. Went visiting vineyards, had pizza night with super friendly local chefs, and spend so many joyful hours by the pool.
Loving every moment - but look out for the mosquitos :)
Hopefully we will be back someday soon.

This home is exactly as we imagined it would be, magical. Once you find it, it is worth the drive. It is private with spectacular vista views. The spacious pool was enjoyed by everyone. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. Clare and Jocomo responded immediately to our needs. The night Giada and Jocomo made dinner for us was a highlight of the week . It was a wonderful experience that our family of 10 (3 generations) would love to do again!

Our group of 12 (three families with teens) spent the most spectacular week at Lacche. The location was perfect for trips to Florence, Cinque Terre, Pisa and Lucca. We loved starting some days at the pool and then retreating to the pool again after a long day trips. The house is gorgeous, old and charming in all the right places with new finishes to make us feel pampered. We had plenty of room to spread out and loved gathering for meals on the two patios. Claire was a perfect host, and Giada is an amazing cook. She came to the house one evening to cook pizzas for us. I don’t know when we’ll get back to Italy again, but when we do, we’ll be sure to stay at Lacche again.

We all had the most amazing stay. The house is absolutely beautiful- the photos don’t do it justice! Would highly recommend this house if you are after a rustic Tuscan experience!

We had an unforgettable stay over the new year. The house is a perfect base to balance either seeing some of the Tuscan cities like Florence, Pisa and Lucca, or to just spend the day reading and relaxing at home.
We loved the fact that 6 out of the 7 bedrooms are upstairs, allowing the first floor to be peaceful, even if the board games downstairs got a little rowdy. We went in the winter which was a first for Lucy. The house was perfectly warm, and we kept a fire going in one of the lounges to enjoy.
Lucy was a perfect host. She always kept in touch, gave us some brilliant tips and was responsive to any questions we had.
We couldn’t give a better recommendation and would love to come back in the summer time again.
