The property was so quirky it was like stepping back in time . Everything we needed was thought of . We loved sitting around the table at breakfast with the other travellers .
Loved the books full of the houses history that were available for us to read .

Not a lot, a nightmare to be honest.
So - once you reach this at the first sight spectacular house, all you got is a note. But that’s the beginning- as you won’t see your renting Lady from now on. During my whole stay no one ever did a single cleaning. I could deal with that but the room is EXTREMELY DIRTY. So much that COCKROACHES are living there with you. I was so disgusted I counted days till my leaving. You won’t get breakfast if you won’t tell day before and what you get is a few bread and - now the funny part comes - exactly 2 pieces of one tiny cut stripe of bacon. Adding pics below. The end finale - if you need bill addressed to your company, be prepared for long discussion when lady speaks to you through her friend, hidden behind the doors. Never again!

Every single thing. House, hostess, comfort, and food.

I loved the pool area for relaxing on a hot day. The room was spacious and comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The location was very convenient and there are many restaurants and shops in the vicinity. It's also well-connected to public transportation.

Wonderful hosts and B&B!

Stayed here for our son’s wedding . Loved the location and neighborhood. Great for walking! Really loved the back yard pool, garden and fountain.

Great historic building. Warm welcome from the owners and a great room.

The property was gorgeous. The staff was super friendly! Would stay again if we decide to go to Austin again
Nothing to really say. Everything was nice and clean.

This is the most charming place I’ve ever stayed! The back yard in unbelievable and a great place to unwind and relax. Wonderful location and had everything one needs for a great stay.
There’s nothing I didn’t like. Timing didn’t work to meet everyone who works there but I enjoyed the short time with those I was able to meet. James gave me a great tour for my late arrival (8pm).

Great location with lively garden area and big wraparound porch. rooms are sizable for a B&B. Staff was very accommodating and their communication was outstanding. they were very helpful and responsive. felt like a safe, warm and friendly space. great hooks in bedroom, good hairdryer and enjoyed mornings sipping tea in the outdoor back porch listening to water fountain. excellent neighborhood for walking and walking distance to restaurants and grocery store.
Rooms are quite dated - like 1970’s style. Stains on carpet,a bit of mold in shower, linoleum separating in bathroom. Breakfast was a selection from grocery store bakery - not warm options except instant oatmeal, but always available and could always get coffee, tea, etc. Very cozy.

The spirit of the house
The bed is quite comfortable
Breakfast was a bit disappointing (no fresh bread, no eggs nothing fresh): at such a price, we expect a fresh breakfast.
The room was noisy: proximity of the highway.
There was garbage in the room (empty water bottle on the chimney). They said that we could find water bottles in the room but there was not.
There was no toilet paper: we had to look for some downstairs in the common area.
The room was dusty and obviously not cleaned before our arrival except for the bed sheets and the towels.
Nobody came to see us and there was no check out. Only a bill received per message with no personal message: we feel like it was a very commercial relationship. We definitely felt like clients and not guests.
We decided to come based on the comments we could read on booking and it was nothing close to what we read

The rooms were clean, comfortable beds. It was quiet. The shower pressure was great.
The breakfast was mainly cereal, packaged pastries. I would have liked scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, toast.

Loved the building and the layout of the gardens. I enjoyed meeting the owner. She was lovely. I wish the gardens were in better shape. They seem somewhat neglected, and there is a sense of disorder outside, with piles of junk in various places. I kind of feel like it’s a bit much for the owner to manage. It is a bed and breakfast but breakfast is not very interesting, as most of the food is in the mini refrigerator, in plastic bags or yogurt containers or on the table under a lid and looking not particularly fresh. It was definitely self service. The second morning I just grabbed some coffee and a yogurt and left. I think the property has great potential; they just need somebody young and vigorous in there to tidy it up a bit, paint the exterior, and replace the bedside chest in Sir David’s room- not in good shape and the top drawer kept falling out.
The state of the gardens. Better chest of drawers in Sir David’s room. And a more welcoming feeling at breakfast with hot options.

good sized bedroom but the only armchair obstructed opening of wardrobe A/C unit very noisy No blackout window treatment.
No one saw us until we’d been there 18 hours
Shower was small , cubicle cracked and stained

A great and unique place to stay. Hosts are great people and so warm, you will want to return.
Breakfast was easy and relaxed.
Barb was also nice enough to lend me her washing machine - what a woman!
8.0
The size of the rooms, the historic building. The character, the friendliness of the owners.
Breakfast could have been better more choice and fresher.

Barb and Strick were perfect hosts, friendly and accommodating. They are really chatty, informative and nice but also leaves you alone if that's what you prefer. Being Vegan I was curious how they would accommodate that, it was no problem. I got what i asked for for breakfast and was really pleased! The old house with it's history is facinating and beautiful. I would definately choose to stay there again if we're visiting Austin TX again, and would reccomend ohter's to check this hidden gem out!
The outdoor pool was not always so clean. Were some little critters floating about when I went for my morning swim.

Great location and very nice and quite. The owners were friendly and Sofia (the dog) was a very nice plus. Great outdoor atmosphere with several options for gathering outside.
No idea....

The location was great. The experience was great. The bed and breakfast seems to have aged and the upkeep of the property is not well represented in the online pictures. The value was great and the owners are sweet as pie.
There was sap all over our car from the tree. We had to get a car wash.

The charm and character. It’s a timeless piece. everything was amazing

bed was soft, room was beautiful, sheets were very nice.
There was no real breakfast like I was expecting. I know that covid had meant that there were just pastries and stuff but I was hoping for a real breakfast at this point. I wish that had been stated on their website. Honeysuckle was very overgrown and attracting bees.

Barbara and her husband are wonderfully warm and brilliant hosts. Not only is the property full of history and beauty, but it truly feels like your own home during your stay. Time spent by the outdoor pool is a wonderful way to relax. I highly recommend staying here while visiting Austin!
No complaints, nothing to alter.

beautiful older property, quiet, easily accessible.
little dusty, but the host are older.
3.0
safe neighbourhood. distance to main freeway. only saw one of the owners on two occasions for a couple of minutes. she was very pleasant though.
In need of a lot of upkeep. very tired. tissues were wedged in gaps in windows. pool area was scruffy so didn’t use. breakfast table not cleared between guests and breakfast pastries were left out all day. breakfast very poor. just cereal, fruit and pastries. nothing hot not even toast although bizarrely there were lots of salt & pepper pots.
9.0
Location was great and hosts were very friendly. Room was comfortable and exactly what I was looking for.
Because of Covid concerns, breakfast was limited to pastries, fruit, dry cereal and coffee/tea that you can grab yourself. That was perfect for me, but other people may want more.

It was 98 in Austin during the day and the window air conditioning unit struggled to keep the room cool.
9.0
Loved the outdoor spaces where we could gather as a family - by the pool, on the back deck and on the wide front porch. Great for getting a take out meal and not having to rush.
6.0
Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location, easy highway access to downtown. Convenient services in neighborhood area.
B&B is a nice old house but needs a bit of TLC. It takes a lot of upkeep which I'm sure is difficult for an elderly couple. Breakfast was limited (due to Covid ?) and was unexpected.
10.0
We felt like home in this marvellous old house. The room was big, the garden green and our hosts so welcoming and yet discrete. The breakfast is made of fresh fruits, pastries and cereals/mueslies.
The neighbourhood is calm and beautiful. You will need a car to move around the city. We loved it so much and will come back at Strickland arms B&B. Thank you to Strick and his wife !
8.0
It was actually a continental breakfast. We were expecting some kind of protein for a "B & B"; (ex.- hard-boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.).

Amazing house, full of charm and history; truly unique experience. Room was great, nice and comfortable. Hosts are friendly and helpful.
Breakfasts should be improved, don't meet expectations in compare to other stays. COVID is not an excuse these days, hot food/buffet is expected for this level of rates/service (at least eggs/toasts/meat options).
10.0
The Strickland Arms B&B has beautiful grounds and a rustic southern charm that is unique to the Austin area. What truly makes the Strickland Arms B&B stand out is the outstanding service the staff and owner provide. They treat you like family and take a vested interest in your needs.
