About this house rental
Located on the Dogwood Branch of Pea Hill Creek, this extremely spacious 5 bedroom home sits on a beautiful flat point lot with 400ft of bulkheaded waterfront. This area has some of the clearest water in all of Lake Gaston with a firm sandy bottom. The gently sloping beach lets youngsters play safely at the edge while the 7ft+ depth at the end of the dock lets the more adventurous jump off the roof of the boat house. Bring your own boat (the neighborhood has a private boat ramp within walking distance) and park it on the boat lift. Because it is sheltered, the cove is one of the most popular areas on the lake for wakeboarding, waterskiing and wake surfing. Even if you don't do this yourself, its fun to watch the pros doing flips and spins. There is a single jet ski lift available along with anchored buoys to tie up 3 more jet skis. Two kayaks and a small sunfish sailboat are also available for your use, along with a number of towable tubes and life jackets for water-based fun.
The airy house has 5 bedrooms, 3 full and 2 half bathrooms, and comfortably sleeps 16. The huge main living room has a two story cathedral ceiling and a wall of windows providing a spectacular view of the lake. The large kitchen has a central island perfect for breakfast and entertaining. There is a dining room that can seat 10-12 people, but you will eat most of your meals outside on the deck soaking in the view. Covered areas on each side of the deck let you enjoy the outdoors even when the weather is not co-operating. The master bedroom is on this main floor with queen sized bed and attached full bathroom.
Three bedrooms are upstairs, all with high cathedral ceilings. One has a queen size bed and one has a queen and two bunk beds. The third has a king sized bed and a day bed with pull out trundle bed. The bedrooms share a full bathroom.
The fifth bedroom is in the fully finished basement and has a queen bed and two bunk beds with attached full bathroom. Most of the spacious basement is equipped as a fantastic game room with pool table, darts and table tennis and a sitting area with large TV.
Other amenities: High speed Internet with WiFi (even extending down to the dock). Time-Warner cable and AppleTVs with Amazon Prime, Netflix and HBO Now. Multiple sound systems on the deck and dock use Apple Airplay so you can stream music from your phone.
Are you a fisherman? This area of Pea Hill Creek has some of the best fishing on Lake Gaston. During the spring you can watch the bass bedding all around the waterfront due to the clear water and sandy bottom. A green LED light strip under the dock attracts shad and bluegills and so bass and catfish hang out there too. Watch the bass cruising under the dock and see if you can catch them. Planning a Wedding? The relatively flat lot, fantastic water view and privacy of the property make this a great location for small to medium sized weddings. Now, due to the extra wear and tear on the property, we do charge a premium and require a minimum 7 night stay. You get the house for a week for $5,000 in the summer (from Memorial Day to Labor Day), or $4,000 the rest of the year. Plan ahead and rent the house next door to have an entire point for your own private use.

Great location on quiet cove. Outstanding water views. Great dock for tanning, kayaking, fishing or just enjoying the evening. Wonderful sunrise from the porch with your morning coffee. Home is beautiful and has everything you could ask for. Check on docking options before booking.

Great , but the down stairs Freezer part of The refrigerator had open food, old dead fish and other foods in it. The upstairs refrigerator, we had to clean before putting food in it. The cabinets in most bathrooms had medical supplies that the children could have gotten in, which should have been removed and or locked up. The fishing we hooked some big catfish 40 pd, 35 pd, a lot under 30 pds. Game room outstanding, location outstanding, sleeping and other accommodations outstanding

Loved the house. 3 generations of 10. Plenty of room. Lots of stuff in kitchen! Plenty of dish towels. Most places do not have enough. Played pool every night. Water temp was ideal in Aug. Kids loved the lilly pad to jump off. Shallow water is great for little ones.

The property is beautiful and well maintained by the owners. The property is more of a home than a rental and there are plenty of amenities for a rainy day or a day spent out on the water. Perfect Lake Home!
We have rented a house at Lake Gaston for the last 5 years for a large family vacation. This house was our favorite yet. The home, dock, lot, and location could not be better. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. The home was stocked with everything you need. Only bring your food, clothes, and toiletries. The lot and location on the lake are ideal. It is quiet and great for kids to swim and kayak. The large dock allowed our group of 10 to comfortably hang out together on the dock all day,; swimming, fishing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Wonderful family getaway
What a fantastic location and home! We have stayed in many homes on Gaston and this by far, was our favorite! The owner was great to work with and check in was easy. The house was very clean and we really enjoyed having the space to spread out with a fantastic walk out basement with lots of room! The bedroom layout was great for extended families or larger groups. Having a second refrigerator downstairs was a nice touch! The property’s landscaping was truly amazing and a blessing to look out at! The kids loved fishing right off the point and the dock, catching nice sized bass. The property is close enough to the main lake and Goat Island, as well as a gas station, it made going out boating very easy. We can’t wait to stay here again!!

Beautiful Views!
The house and property were perfect for our family. 3 generations ranging from age 57 to 1 and everyone loved it! The kids spent all day out in the lake swimming. Great sloping sand in the water. The lake views are wonderful! House is situated right on a corner, so the yard is large and has a large water front. Nice open area of the lake which was great for the jet skis, kayaks and paddle boards!

Our family has visited Lake Gaston every year for the past 26 years, and this might be the best house we've stayed at. Owners were very easy to communicate with and left thorough, detailed instructions on every aspect of the house, as well as the check-in / check-out process. AWESOME!!
The house is amazing, the dock is amazing and the lake is even more amazing. We had monster Bass swimming by the dock daily. We caught Largemouth, White Perch, White Crappie, Catfish and Bluegill right from the dock.
The owners are down-to-earth folk who are easy to communicate with and left a detailed PDF with all questions answered. Check-in and check-out could not have been easier. (Although check-out was sad, cuz we wanted to stay!)
If you like nature and a relaxing yet fun-filled vacation, this is the spot. Your only regret, will be not booking this place. We will totally return. We usually book two houses during the year, every year, and usually never hit the same place twice, to keep things fresh, but this house will be the exception.

Beautiful, well appointed house that offered beautiful lake views. Very nice kitchen with luxury stainless appliances. Game room was also very nice. Loved the pool table. The owner was very accommodating and went the “extra mile” in providing home and area information, including answering questions to help make our stay more enjoyable. Our family had a great time and would like to stay there again.

A beautiful home located right on the beautiful lake! The home had everything you needed in the kitchen to cook and an amazing area for entertainment - pool table, fussball, large tv, etc,, plus many board games. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery! Definitely will be coming back!

Best of Many
We have rented houses for years at both Lake Gaston and Kerr Lake (Bugs Island). Dogwood Manor is best of all of them. We particularly liked the dock, the short walk from it to the house, and its location on the lake. The house is well equipped, provided linens and towels, and is very spacious for large groups of people. We are looking forward to returning there next year with our family of 10. We will bring our own cue sticks, darts, and ping pong paddles.

Completely enjoyable.
This property has it all. The house had more than enough room and everything needed to stay a week. From kitchen supplies and bed linens to downstairs games and wifi-connected speakers to the dock and throughout the house, this house can not be beat.
I can't thank the owners enough for sharing this home to all of us in the short term rental world. We have stayed in several properties over the years and this by far was our favorite.
The owners were fast to communicate, easygoing and professional.
The property sits on a small peninsula that offers privacy and a commanding view of the cove. Morning coffee watching ducks swim and an afternoon cornhole game while the sun set were favorites.
The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay, this coming from a guy that packs way too many things. There is a very nice 6-burner Weber grill, pre-piped for gas also. (I usually bring my own weber charcoal grill, but didn't.)
There are plenty of board games, puzzles and cards for when you don't want to play footsball, ping-pong or pool. (while using the Airplay to to listen to your music...)
The cove this house overlooks is very nice, calm water with occasional boats rolling by pulling tubes or wakeboarders. There's plenty of room for them and we, the ones that float while holding a drink. My Lab and I paddleboarded together throughout this area without any problems.
My Lab also liked to hang out on the dock with me late at night and watch the fish swim in the glow of the green light beneath us. Relaxing indeed.
I can't say enough good things about this place.
Except one, forget everything I wrote, so I can still reserve my time next year.

Beautiful lake home!
Wonderful home and property on Lake Gaston that could easily handle our whole family gathering of 10. It was perfect for the three children 3 and under. Very well appointed and equipped for all our needs. We diverted from the beach when Hurricane Florence hit the North Carolina coast and were so thankful that we found such a great respite where we could all enjoy the restful sunrises and sunsets while still playing in the water.

This was our families 8th year staying at Lake Gaston , but our first stay at this beautiful home ! We had the best time ever ! This home is so beautiful, bright & very comfortable , has everything you will need to have a great time ! Super close to the Food Lion which is a big plus ! The downstairs has a great gameroom , dock is perfect also !!! Our family certainly plans to return next summer ! And what made it even better we were able to bring our little' fur baby ' along which made this trip just AMAZING !!!

Lucky owner says it all
The pictures and description of this property do not do it justice pretty much sums up my review. If you want to stay to stay in the house of your dreams located on as nice a location on a lake as you can imagine, book this place now. Never had to contact Kevin during the stay as he kept me well informed before ever leaving my house. Plenty of places for fishing between the great pier and the 400 feet of bulkhead that encompasses this property. We had a great time and hope you will have us back. To answer your question Kevin 50 plus fish in this short trip was great and will be back to catch some bigger ones,

This was our first visit to Lake Gaston and this house was perfect for our 10 family members. View of lake was beautiful and we ate lots of meals from the balcony. Slope to lake was very gentle and dock was great for our boat & jet ski. We really enjoyed our visit and hope to return!!!!

Gold standard of lake living right here
What can I say. I grew up on lakes in NY finger lake region and later in life in Austin, TX. I can now say that Lake Gaston and specifically this property has raised the bar for everything that I have seen. I almost don't want to write this so I can have a chance of booking this property in the future. Huge lot, extra large basement/gameroom, exceptional master bathroom, nice landscaping, privacy, large deck, clean lake with sandy bottom, perfect location on the cove where it's calm but close to gas stations and the main part of lake, quick boat ride to Wobble Island which is the main tie-up/party spot on the lake....I could go on. I shall return!
