This was an absolute gem of a home, very well appointed for groups large and small. They have everything you could dream of, a d everything is very well labeled. Due to the recent fires, the area is a bit barebones, so that's a bit of a drag, but it's still a very nice area. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our time at this cabin! It was the most beautiful place and very well stocked! They have thought of everything! Plenty of toys for the 6 kids we had!
We loved fishing off the doc, kayaking and paddle boating! We went over to the river and the kids had a blast! My kids love the outdoors!! They enjoyed the little park on the property also!
We would definitely go back to this place! We had moose walking around several times also!
Beds were great! I hated to leave!

This property is absolutely stunning. This was probably the nicest VRBO we have ever stayed in. (We stay in several each year) It was clean and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The listing online is very accurate. The owners were very quick to respond to any questions we had. The kitchen was so well stocked. Everything from utensils, dishes, small appliances, knives, cutting boards, grill tools, were available for use. It was like cooking in my own kitchen at home. The kids used the bikes that were provided. We walked down to the lake, but did not use any of the boats. We enjoyed the outdoor patio furniture and the many hummingbirds. They also left extra hummingbird food already made in the fridge. We filled the feeders once while we were there, not required, but we enjoyed them and wanted to keep them fed. Definitely take time to read the book the owners wrote telling their story about their original cabin and the rebuild after the fire. It's a quick read with lots of pictures. It definitely gave me a real appreciation of the cabin and all the hard work their whole family put into it. I can't say enough about the cabin and the owners, and I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a great family getaway. The five bedrooms and 5-1/2 bathrooms gives everyone their own privacy and there is plenty of space for a large family to hang out together too. It is also a quick drive into town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Whispering Pines Lodge was everything and more that we anticipated! The owners haven’t missed anything that guests might hope for and enjoy while staying at this beautiful property. The kitchen is fully equipped; the decor was very inviting and quite luxurious; (the 5 bedroom suites were what sold me on this property!) the fire pit on the lovely deck; even a turntable to listen to old lps! the access to the lake and paddle boats and canoe; bikes for riding. It was so very suitable for my family! The close access to the Rocky Mountain National Park was a bonus. We can’t thank the McDowells enough for providing this beautiful space for us to enjoy on our vacation.

The cabin was amazing. Plenty of room for people to have space as well as enjoy each other’s company. Owners thought of everything you could possibly need to make our stay comfortable and were very easy to communicate with. Views were beautiful and plenty of things to do nearby. Would recommend to anyone

We absolutely loved staying here! The cabin is beautiful and I loved how the table was big enough for us all to sit and eat and play games! Having the lake right there to enjoy was so convenient. There was always something for everyone to do, and perfect for those who wanted to stay at the cabin with the baby! Loved seeing wildlife especially moose! We also loved being able to go into town within a few minutes for all the fun that grand lake has to offer! The owners are wonderful and so easy to contact! We would absolutely love to visit again in this cabin!

Very well appointed house. Great layout and plenty of room. The location is fantastic - close to Grand Lake, but on it's own little lake. This area was a definite highlight - they also have a lot of lake oriented equipment and bikes to explore.
This is definitely a place we will want to rent again for our family and friends trips.

Everything was just wonderful from check in and communication with Corry to every detail and need taken care of in this gorgeous cabin. It was the perfect secluded location on the same property I used to visit many years ago as a child. So beautiful! Thank you so much!

We love the area and always see more moose around sun valley lake than rangers in the park.
The place is clean, spacious, and has the best equipped kitchen we have ever encountered in a rental.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to letting us stay in your home. We really felt it was home away from home! We appreciate every thought out into the home from the chargers to the extra blankets and games. It was one of the best homes we have stayed at and shows it was built with love!

We had a wonderful stay on this beautiful property even though it was cut short due to the fire evacuation! The owners were very helpful, kind, and communicated well with us. Thank you for sharing your property with us! We are heartbroken our time had to be shortened and for the loss of the cabin! It was a slice of heaven! Thank you for communicating all the information to us regarding the fires and keeping us safe!! Our Prayers are with you and your family!

The playground was a nice touch for the littles in our group. The dogs and kids especially liked the lake and the paddle boat. The neighbors were friendly.
The best bedroom upstairs did not have a bathroom. @ bathrooms on bottom floor not convenient for anyone upstairs who might have to use one in the middle of the night. Main bed downstairs up against stairs so had to listen to late nighters going up and down them. Grill needs to be cleaned.
All and all plenty of room for 8.

Great communication with owner. Very convenient to RMNP. Clean cabin, with lots of provisions, including detergents, paper towels, shower gel and hand soap. We did see two moose on the far side of the meadow, that is across from this cabin and we enjoyed canoeing on the lake. The living room was a tight fit for our party of six adults and two little ones, but it worked out, overall.

This property was just like it was described, lots to do outside, friendly people, and an awesome location to all outdoorsy leisure activities!!! ATV rentals and horseback riding were with in walking distance and tons of fun! Definitely will book again in the future, the owners Corry and Ray stopped by to introduce themselves as well which was a great gesture and nice to put faces to their names!

A comfortable rustic cabin with an updated well stocked kitchen.
Having a private lake was wonderful. Lake or river fishing a plus. Hiking was close by and you could walk to go horseback riding. This cabin met all of our needs especially while social distancing. Corry and Ray were a pleasure to work with.

Our experience at Whispering Pines Lodge was more than we could have imagined! Ray and Corry are attentive, quick to respond and caring hosts. It was a pleasure working with them. We were initially hesitant to take this trip during COVID-19, but our concerns were INSTANTLY dispelled upon arrival. The cleanliness and caretaking of the lodge was top notch. The rooms are set up to provide comfort for larger families which was a must for our part of 7. We had everything we needed to make this our home for the week! Our favorite times were spent sipping our coffee by the lake, paddling the canoe, fishing off the dock or in to Colorado river, playing horseshoes or simply walking through the Sun Valley Ranch. We spotted elk and moose and enjoyed the nearby horses and alpaca. The proximity to RMNP made it easy to visit the park and hit several trails. We will definitely be back!!

We brought our 3 young children and some extended family hoping for a secluded cabin experience. Perfect choice! We really loved the cabin layout, super clean, and everything we needed to cook for a large group. Beds are high quality and everyone slept very comfortably. The private lake stocked with large rainbow trout was a huge bonus and we took out the canoe or paddle boat every day with the kids. Access to bikes is also great as there is plenty of space for kids to ride around including northbound on the road approaching RMNP (very few cars along there and all drove slowly respecting bikers). The property is located very close to the Kawuneeche Visitor Center and entrance to RMNP. Fantastically beautiful area and great cabin!
We were also lucky to meet the owners on our way out the last day who are a lovely couple. They are dedicated to their cabin and a great visitor experience!
Highly recommend. 😊

I can't say enough about this cabin. The location is the key to this one, as you have to drive though horse pastures to get to it, and it is located about 50 steps from a gorgeous lake. Absolute silence at night, with the exception of elk bugles that you can hear throughout the night if you leave the windows open. The cabin itself is perfect. It was only 2 of us, but it could easily accommodate 8 or more. Beautiful wood stove that puts out a lot of heat, great kitchen, comfortable beds, high ceilings, porches, you name it. If you go down to the dock there is a canoe that you can use, or just fish right from the dock. The lake is, again, fantastic. This was our 5th trip to Grand Lake and this was the best location yet. Thanks again.

The property was very clean and everything was clearly labeled and organized. The kids loved the toys and the playground just outside the cabin. We saw several moose and what we think was a bobcat. We enjoyed the baby animal farm just up the road which is open to the public. Great location to RMNP. We loved our stay!

Nice location with lots of wildlife. Easy access to the town and Grand Lake. Well stocked cabin. We had 7 adults and it seemed a little tight. Maybe its the low ceilings that made it seem that way. Overall nice place.

Corry is an amazing hostess. She is very organized. She sends a printable packet to you before your arrival. Our entire family came up to celebrate my husbands birthday. The cottage was clean and well stocked with things for all ages from 2 - 80. We had fun on the lake with the paddle boat and canoe. There are lots of places to hike and a fire pit for marshmallow roast. There are games and bikes. The house was spotless. Beds were very comfortable. My granddaughter lost her wallet filled with her babysitting money from the summer and Corry found it and mailed it back to us. We were thrilled with our stay and Corry and her husband couldn’t have been nicer.

The property was isolated, tranquil and serene. The owners only lake with canoes and fishing was heaven. Great places to explore with my dog. We would definitely return.

At the base of RMNP, this cabin has everything to appease everyone! It is walking distance to hiking trails into the park, a quick drive to Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Lake, and even has its own lake. Adults and kids both enjoyed using the provided canoe and paddle boat to go out on the lake as well as bikes to ride around the area - the owners even have helmets! There is a playground, volleyball net, board games, and books.
The cabin itself is super cozy and comfortable. You can enjoy the large dining table while watching the many hummingbirds feed at the bird feeder. The kitchen is well stocked with any equipment you might need.
Overall, these owners have really thought of it all. This is certainly one of our favorites - thanks for a great stay!

This property is amazing ! The pictures do not do it justice. It is gorgeous ! The owners did a great job with the design and remodeling they did on the cabin. It was immaculate and very comfortable. The beds were as comfy as a five star resort. The owner was very nice and was quick to answer any questions we had. Sun Valley Ranch lake was the perfect setting to make family memories. We stayed at the cabin with our children and grandchildren. The area is perfect for any age. The grand kids enjoyed playing at the play area and riding the bikes and using the wagon. All ages enjoyed fishing, swimming, boating, and just relaxing on the lake. We saw a mama moose and her baby every day as well as a mama duck and her babies and geese on the lake. The location of the lake is perfect . It is a short distance to horse back riding, 4 wheeling , hiking, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Grand Lake. The time at the beautiful cabin was perfect ! We made life long memories with the family that we will cherish. We have stayed in many very nice vrbo's ,but this was our favorite so far.

Can't say enough good things about this place. My family spent a week not only enjoying the gorgeous scenery, but enjoying time together. We were able to fish, paddle boat, go on bike rides, play games, all while being surrounded by natures beauty. We saw moose and a herd of elk right out our front door. The location of this cabin couldn't be more ideal. We were a short walk or bike ride from the Colorado River, a quick 5 minute or less drive to trail heads in RMNP, and a 5 minute drive from the charming town of Grand Lake. We are hoping to return again soon!

This cabin was everything advertised. We had the Rocky Mountain National Park, four wheeling, horse back riding, fishing and hiking less than 5 minutes away. The cabin was made for the mountains with nothing spared. The lake was just a short walk away and the paddle boat made fishing easy. It was perfect for family gathering with the home feel of the dining, living, and kitchen.

The children really enjoyed the available bikes, playground and boats for the lake.

We had a great time. The cabin is clean with everything one needs to have a good time. Especially enjoyed the bikes and the canoe. As an aside, neighboring boys would come over daily to play with one of our dogs since they missed theirs. Good fun.
10.0 / 10.0
This cabin is cozy and up to date with all the comforts of home. The big kitchen space is great. We loved having access to a dock and boats, especially the canoe. Rental went smoothly and we would happily stay there again. Nothing can beat Sun Valley Lake.
