About this house rental
Welcome to the Scott Street Yellow House in Gardiner, Montana. This charming, remodeled bungalow is perfect for a couple, with or without a small child. This historic home mirrors the rich history of the Yellowstone area. Located in the heart of Gardiner, only one mile from the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the historic Roosevelt Arch, this cottage began as a log cabin located in the rustic mining town of Jardine. It was moved down the mountain to 'Scott's Addition' on the east side of the Yellowstone River. As the town of Gardiner began to develop, so did the Scott Street Yellow House. It was lath and plastered and renovated in the Arts and Crafts style in the late 1920s reflecting the concern for craftsmanship and artistry of the period.
Remodeled in 2004 with vintage features intact, this one-bedroom home has a modern kitchen with wood floors throughout. There is a sunny reading room, dining room and luxurious claw-footed bathtub for calm contemplation and quiet relaxation. In the summer, the Scott Street Yellow House has the added treat of an airy gazebo poised to look out over a lovingly cared-for cottage garden.
Treat yourself to a peaceful retreat. In the center of a quiet town, the cottage is within easy walking distance to grocery store, restaurants, shopping, and recreational activities such as rafting and horseback riding, as well as the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. Make this your home base as you explore the majesty of Yellowstone.

We loved this cottage! It was in the perfect location so that we could walk to everything and it had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and with really good towels (both very important to me). I would absolutely stay here again!

Melanie thought of everything! This is a quaint cottage in the heart of town, walkable to nearly everything! It is only a few minutes from the north entrance of Yellowstone.
The bed was comfortable and the kitchen extremely well stocked. I was looking for a plastic knife for our picnic and darn if she didn’t have plastic knives! Thanks for making our trip that much simpler….

The cottage is very nice and perfectly located in Gardiner. It is equipped with everything you need and when you want to eat out it is a short walk to the market, restaurants and a cafe across the street for morning coffee and/or breakfast. It was a great base for exploring Yellowstone and we were able to explore many parts of the park from the thermal basins, the canyon, the lake and the wonderful Lamar Valley. Our only regret is we did not get to spend some more time relaxing at the cottage. Melanie was great and responsive and we would definitely stay here again!

This little house was perfect for my wife and I. just block’s from the North entrance to Yellowstone and Gardiner is the cutest town to stay in - it has everything you need. Don’t mind the elk family strolling through town 😂
The house has every thing you’d need for a short or long stay. Loved it!!

Clean and cozy house in town within walking distance of restaurants and grocery, but quiet at night and wildlife meandering in and out of the yard.

Rosemarys cottage was in the absolute perfect location in Gardiner. Great for the north entrance of YNP and great for walking to dinner in the evening. Just an all around wonderful stay.

This cottage was perfect for our trip to Montana and Yellowstone. The cottage was in good condition with all of the necessary amenities, including bear spray, bug spray, and sun screen - all needed in the park. The back yard was perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking. Great location in Gardner and only minutes to the north entrance.

Easy, lovely stay at Rosemary's Cottage
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay in Rosemary's Cottage. It is even more appealing than the photos show because it has a lovely air of someone with eclectic taste having carefully thought through the furnishings. It had everything we needed, enough space to spread out and relax and the bed was very comfortable. We were there at the beginning of October so traffic was limited and it was very quiet. It was a little chilly to enjoy the lovely garden, but we did enjoy a glass of wine in the front "sun room" of an evening. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, cutlery and pots and pans and we were glad to have the washer and dryer. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Gardiner!

Home Away for visit to Yellowstone
Great location for visit to Yellowstone from North Entrance. We fished and hiked in park each day. Was great to return to small home located on Main Street. Parking on Main Street was not issue. Very clean and attractively decorated. Large enclosed front porch provided place to leave and dry fishing gear each day. Large, well supplied kitchen, allowing us to walk to grocery store and prepare light meals at home. Also short walk to the Corral Burger with outside seating, which we highly recommend. Enjoyed our cocktail hour in secluded back yard/ garden, sharing space with only pet deer across the fence! WiFi was great. No TV, but not problem as we are happy to get away from world while on vacation. Highly recommend checking this out and will likely stay again next year

Great Location
Sorry I’m just now getting around to this. As we all know life gets to be a bit hectic at times. We stayed at this cottage the beginning of August and the location was perfect. Walking distance to restaurants, the grocery store, excursions and shops. Then you jump in the car and you’re not even 5min away from Yellowstone North Entrance. Cottage itself accommodated on what we needed for our stay. We came from MN so we’re a bit worried about it not having no a/c as this time of year it’s so hot outside morning and night here in MN. If you do what they tell you and keep the blinds and windows shut during the day and open at night you’ll have no problems of being too hot. We also used the fans they provided for us, but we prob didn’t even need to use them because as soon as the cool breeze came through in the evenings it cool down the house in no time. The only thing we were bummed about was the tv situation. For us we were at Yellowstone every day and all day long it just would’ve been nice to come back and be able to watch some tv while prepping and eating dinner to wind down for the night. They do have a tv/ computer monitor but it was pretty small and we had to turn it all the way up just to be able to hear it. No tv though they just have dvd’s you can use to watch. I wish I would’ve know that part as we would’ve brought some DVD’s of our own to be able to watch in the evenings while we relaxed and rested up for our next day. All and all we did have a great stay and we even saw some Elk walking down the sidewalk in front of the cottage!!!

Happy Birthday trip
Rosemary’s Cottage was a perfect location- close to Yellowstone, rafting, and groceries. It was a very quaint historic cottage perfect for two people. She had it decorated very cute and had everything that you would need for a short stay. The washer and dryer was perfect also for washing all your clothes before leaving. The days were very hot and would recommend closing shades and windows during the day and opening the windows at night to keep the cool air in since there isn’t any air conditioning in the house. The Flying Pig rafting company across the street is awesome!!! Patrick was our guide- he was great!!! We also did the Yellowstone Hot Springs- mineral pools- would recommend this too! Thank you again for letting us stay in your cottage. We even got to see an Elk grazing in the yard one evening. So cool!!

Great Cottage!
Rosemary’s Cottage was perfect for our stay near North Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Great location within walking distance of many restaurants, and adventure pickups right across the street. The cottage had everything we needed and more! Highly recommend trying it out!

Great location near North Yellowstone Entrance
In all of the respects that we were asked to rate above, we provided a rating of 5. We did however have a couple of items that could improve the quality of someone's stay. While there was Wifi, the connection was very poor. Since there was no TV, we had to use our laptop to access any news or other programming. It was difficult to watch anything. While most of our time was outside, it would have been nice to have better access to Wifi. The location was great - so near to the entrance to Yellowstone and the market was within walking distance. Parking worked out well for us. We were able to park right in front every night. My spouse said the knives in the kitchen were dull, so a knife sharpener would be helpful Having the laundry there was awesome . Overall, our stay in Gardiner and the cottage was a positive experience.

Hot times in Gardiner
Nice space. Fairly well-equipped for cooking our own meals after long days touring. We do believe that a window a/c would help people with allergies. The couch was uncomfortable- perhaps an upgrade? The internet was intermittent. Overall, it was a nice property, with a backyard lush with flowers.. It is located just outside Yellowstone and conveniently located so that you can explore Gardiner on foot, if you wish.

Lovely cottage but inaccurate listing
For reasons I cannot fathom, the owner insists there is a tv when there is NOT! There is a small , old computer monitor and an even older vcr player. I like to watch tv in the evenings, after a long day of hiking. When I called the property manager about this, she was very nice but said the owner calls this old setup a tv. Also no dishwasher. Both can be easily remedied without a lot of outlay and this could be a five star property.

Excellent Stay
We had a wonderful time at our stay at the cottage. It was a wonderful respite every evening after our adventures in Yellowstone. We even got to see the elk visitor mentioned in the previous reviews in the side yard one morning, my kids were delighted to watch her through the window!

Lovely House
This was a beautiful house that was just perfect for a visit to Yellowstone. The house is less than five minutes from the entrance to the park, directly in the center of town with easy walking distance to restaurants and the grocery store. The house itself is spectacular, has a lovely garden and patio that we enjoyed often after getting back from the park. The house was well equipped, beautifully decorated and just a great place to hang out when we were done with our adventures. Parking behind the house was simple and convenient, and coincidentally The Flying Pig rafting company is directly across the street with whom we had already booked our rafting and fly fishing trip with it worked out great. Rosemary was an excellent host and very responsive, can’t say enough about our time in this house it was wonderful. Wish we could’ve stayed another week!

Nice cottage
This place is very nice, great kitchen, close to everything, very clean but has issues for people with mobility issues. The bathroom, beautifully restored and decorated has an old claw foot tub with a wrap a round shower curtain. If you have any mobility issues, are elderly, etc. you will have an issue with this. Parking is also a problem. This home sits on the main drag so parking spots in front of the house are non existent until the eventing. Parking behind the house is available but you still have to walk through the whole yard to get to the front yard to use the code to enter the front door. I really was happy overall but My husband really struggled with the bathroom (the toilet is 3 inches from the wall so he had to sit sideways on it) but we’re getting old and younger folks might be just fine. The yard, although really neglected for the last few years, is still very private and quaint. I would definitely recommend this property to those without mobility issues.

Perfect home base for Yellowstone
My friend and I were so happy to find this charming cottage. We rafted right across the street at the flying pig and had an incredible time exploring Yellowstone. The sofa bed may be ok for very little kids. Great shower. Loved the electric tea kettle and the garden for sitting quietly.

Rosemary’s Cottage is an oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the tourist town of Gardiner, MT. Conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants and a wonderful grocery store, it is the perfect location for trips into Yellowstone. WiFi is available to connect to the outside world but really, it is such a pleasant and restful place you won’t miss that. I spent four nights in September 2019 and a week again in September 2020 while doing research at the Yellowstone National Park Heritage and Research Center. Having my own facility for dining and reviewing my work was wonderful! With rainy weather in 2019 I did not have an opportunity to make use of the back garden and gazebo but it certainly was beautiful and would have been a wonderful spot for morning coffee. I have stayed in many hotels in Gardiner but this was the perfect spot for a longer stay. Easily gets five stars from me. —A Yellowstone Historian

Yellowstone Vacation
Enjoyed this little cottage right by the north gate to Yellowstone. We loved being so close to Mammoth and driving through it every day. Very homey, and is in a darling little town. Would recommend to those visiting Yellowstone and want to stay outside of the park.

Wonderful stay in Gardiner
Quaint, comfortable cottage with a beautiful backyard. My husband and I were there for a week of fall fishing. The location was perfect -- just minutes from the entrance to Yellowstone and with every convenience just walking distance. The house was cozy & clean and the beautiful private garden was a bonus. We even had elk grazing in the side yard in the mornings! We accidentally left a few items when we left and the owner had them in the mail to us before we even left the airport!

Cute little house
We enjoyed our stay, and visiting NW Yellowstone very much.
The house/property was exactly as described, except the parking , which was described as “in front of the house”— actually is on street parking, taking good luck to find something close to the house; other description was option to “parallel park behind the house”—nonexistent.
We enjoyed the back yard/garden area, and seeing the small deer that jumped the surrounding fence to enjoy the green grass, and take a nap in the side yard.
Although clean, the bathroom had a moldy odor, even though we ran the fan as requested. I loved the lavender/coconut oil hand soap in the bathroom so much, that I ordered some for my own home.
We will recommend this house our friends, and would try to rent again, if we return to this area.

Perfect
We stayed here with our 9 year old grandson, perfect place to come back to after a long day exploring the park. It was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The back yard was a nice place to watch the night sky and chat about our day. We had a deer in the side yard one morning, great way to start our day! Would definitely stay here again.
