Nantahala River Lodge is a unique riverfront cabin on the Nantahala River. It is a rare and magnificent opportunity to have the rushing river a few steps from your front door. The Nantahala River Lodge offers privacy, an outstanding location, luxury accommodations, world class fishing and so much more.
We custom designed and built our cabin with reclaimed wood from our family's North Carolina cabins and barn. Native stone was used inside and out. We furnished our home with handcrafted furniture and transformed family heirlooms into art. Every detail was carefully considered as we blended our family history into the creation of the Nantahala River Lodge. The Lodge offers accommodations for up to 8 people. Every room offers a view of the river. We encourage you to open the windows to bring the soothing river sounds indoors.

This was our second stay at the River Lodge. The first time was 8-9 years ago when my wife was pregnant with our oldest daughter. This home and property was amazing then and even more beautiful today. The memories made with my wife and two daughters will never be forgotten. Annette and Mickey, thank you for creating one of the greatest memory making places on earth, we hope to be back next year to make even more! What a blessing to have the opportunity to experience this beautiful place.

From the original booking to the final checkout, Mickey and Annette were fantastic hosts. Their helpful notes and "instruction sheets" were very detailed and made everything simple and was the best VRBO experience I have had....and I have had more than a few.
As for the property.....It is the perfect spot for a relaxing fly fishing get away. Myself and 2 friends caught and released approximately 60 trout in 3 days including a rainbow in the 20" range right behind the house. The house is an amazing cabin with a lot of great details and character. The pictures are a good representation. It is set up with pretty much everything you might need except for food. This was my first trip to this property and we are already talking about when we might be able to return.

Wonderful place to stay while you fish the upper and lower Nantahala River. Even though flow rate was very high on the upper Nantahala due to maintenance up stream, the stream was loaded with trout for catch and release DH regs. I caught 22 in 2.5 days but that was also because we fished the lower with only a hit or two there.

This was the best VRBO Experience to date and we travel alot. The lodge was very well equipped, user friendly and clean. Annette and Mickey went out of their way to make guests feel at home. There was a large selection of books that lead guests to local attractions with directions and information. I have never seen a kitchen more stocked for a chef, and I am a huge foodie and love to cook. The view and property were immaculate with all instructions to enjoy yourself in any way you wish. I have kids that are boyscouts and the instructions to make a fire were spot on, as well as all the needed supplies to do so. We loved the river and the solitude. We will definitely be back and could not recommned this property highly enough to anyone wanting a restful, peaceful, laid back, well supplied vacation.

This was an amazing property: beautiful, right on the river, well built and decorated, and well maintained. It is rare I say that I would go back to a property but I would go back tomorrow!! The kitchen was extremely well stocked. You could have cooked a holiday meal. I cannot say enough good about the condition and cleanliness of this home. Definitely worth it!!

My wife and I have stayed at homes all over the NC mountains and while they have all been nice the Nantahala River Lodge far exceeded all the others. Annette and Mickey are the best hosts I’ve ever dealt with. Great communication from both and gave us all the details we needed to enjoy our stay. The lodge itself was immaculate and their are detailed instructions everywhere to make operating everything at the lodge easy. From the spectacular views and the sound of the river right at your back door relaxing was very easy. I really can’t say enough about how great our stay was. We will definitely be booking another trip to the Nantahala River Lodge very soon.

CLEAN!!! my socks didn't even look dusty after walking around in them. House smelled clean. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Kitchen was so well stocked and organized. Great collection of resources for things to do in the area. Beds comfortable and smelled clean. Big porch surrounding main floor had latching gates to keep stairs closed off. Homeowner was available for any questions. Can't wait to visit again.

Thanksgiving 2018
We have made the trip from Florida to the NC mountains for several years, renting a different cabin each time. For some unknown reason we always assumed that the higher the elevation, the more fun you would have...boy was I wrong. The Nantahala Riverfront cabin was the first gorge / river / low elevation stay for us and we all enjoyed it much more than the top of a mountain. We all enjoyed the river and the sounds created by all the water and rocks. The kids enjoyed the campfire and cooking hotdogs and marshmellows....we all came home with "smoky" smelling clothes which was a good thing. Plenty of firewood is provided which was a great feature. The cabin is everything they advertise with a very unique, custom, well equiped kitchen and cozy feel. The owners and info they provided were very helpful with anything you could need. Beautiful home and property
The house is very tastefully decorated, with many natural materials like wood and stone. It does not feel cluttered with too many decorations or trinkets, but still feels warm and like a cozy home-away-from-home. The appliances are in great shape and everything in the house was in excellent condition and clean. The outside area along the river is extremely well kept and beautiful. There are ample supplies for cooking outside and having fires in the fire pit. The house location is great for accessing hiking and biking trails and areas of the Smokey Mountains. The owners are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Definitely will visit again.

Such a beautiful cabin on the river in Western North Carolina. Is a perfect weekend getaway for a reunion with friends! The cabin is fully custom built with detail put into every aspect of the home. Approximately 30 minutes to Bryson City and Harrah's and in the heart of Western North Carolina rafting!

Wonderful Place
The cabin and the location are very beautiful. Everything really has been thought of. Everything all of the reviewers say is true! It's the best appointed cabin I've stayed in. The fish weren't really biting when we were there, but my boys had a great time tubing in the river right behind the cabin and all the way down to the fishing hole close by. The water is clean and beautiful. Haven't ever seen such clear water as there in the river and in the very close by Nantahala Lake where we rented a pontoon boat for a day from Lake's End Marina. We enjoyed sleeping with the windows open to hear the sound of the river, playing in the river, relaxing on the deck and at all of the outdoor spots on the property, as well as staying inside and having family time/playing games at the beautiful table. We would definitely come back. Thanks!

Annette & Mickey have left no detail untouched !!! Exceptional attention to detail. We only needed to bring food. Only comment is plan your day trips before you arrive as there is a very weak cell phone signal and the cabin has no Wi-Fi (by design !!!) You really do escape the hustle & bustle at this cabin. We slept every night with the windows ajar listening to the stream - never slept better !!!!

WINTER "WONDERFUL" GETAWAY
WOW! The Nantahala River Lodge is an awesome destination retreat or vacation cabin to enjoy in the Wintertime. And owners Mickey and Annette are incredibly accommodating and their detail to things very helpful. Our winter getaway to the mountains of NC and their cabin was A++ from beginning to end.
Being right on the river and getting 4" snow; the beauty and sounds of Mother Nature was at its finest while being nestled inside this well crafted cabin enjoying the fireplace, fellowship with friends and delicious meals prepared in a well equipped kitchen. All we had to bring was food and beverage.
Pictures of the cabin and grounds drew us to want to stay at the NRL. But until you actually stay there and walk the grounds and river areas and surround yourself in the history of the structure of the cabin and furniture made of reclaimed wood from their family's NC cabins and barn along with the many artifacts and family history decor....it's unbelievably surreal.
The cabin is not that far from the NOC and while it is along side a road-that was never a problem for us. In fact, we were relieved seeing how well maintained the road was during the freezing rains/ice and snowfall. So our sad departure because our winter getaway ended, was atleast a safe drive out of the mountains.
Thank you Mickey and Annette for sharing your beautiful and unique cabin with us and your wonderful hospitality. We had a great, relaxing and special memory making time at the NRL.

Kid Friendly, Adult Approved
This cabin exceeded expectations. My family of 4( 2 children 15 & 10, and another family with 2 children 7 & 9) had one of our best vacations at this wonderful cabin. Annette & Mickey have out done their selves to make sure vacationers have everything available for a week long getaway yet still feel at home. Truly, the only items you need are your clothes, toiletries & food. Everything else is provided. Our children were happy just floating down the mini-rapids right out the back door of the amazing cabin. Located right in the middle of many rafting/zip line or hiking adventures. Also, provided is a very detailed book of everything you would need to know for the surrounding area. This cabin has risen our family's standards for vacation homes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank You Mickey & Annette for providing such a wonderful home and a memorable vacation for our families.

Without a doubt the nicest most complete rental available. I have probably rented 10+ cabins in North Ga, Tn and NC. This is by far the best my favorite. Kitchen is well stocked with supplies. Being on the river is a real bonus. Very close to NOC and other destinations. Talked with the owners a couple of times - very pleasant and accommodating. Weather was marginal but cabin was A+.

Beyond Perfect
Overall our experience was ideal. The luxurious cabin had everything we could have needed and more including bath salts and heated bathrooms for the perfect post-hiking soak. The location may be the most peaceful place on the planet and the intermittent noise of the cars on Wayah Road does not detract at all. The river is so strikingly beautiful, the fishing is great, and the lot is so much fun to explore. Kids and adults were thoroughly pleased. In fact, we liked the lodge more than the beach! It was worth every penny we spent, and Annette was wonderful in all things. Her thoughtful directions included where to stop for groceries on the way in from whichever highway you are coming from. I do recommend bringing groceries in, because it takes a while to get to the towns and restaurants on those little (but so scenic) mountain roads. We can't wait to go back!

My wife and I travel a lot using VBRO and this house is one of the most beautiful locations anywhere we have stayed!!! When you first arrive at this property, you imediately know this is not your average mountain house. This lodge has everything you could want for a family weekend. My wife loved the large open kitchen space and how well stocked it was with pots and excesseries....and she is hard to please! The back porch over looking the river is absolutely gorgeous !!

AWESOME!!!
We stayed at the Nantahala lodge with another couple and our four young children (all under 4). We could not have picked a better place to stay! The property was absolutely amazing! We spent most of our time swimming in the river right behind the house. There was a nice deep place to jump in. We enjoyed tubing down the river, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, relaxing by the hammock and we even smoked ribs in the outside smoker. We had all the luxuries of home and more! The house itself was beautiful. Annette and Mickey definitely put their heart and soul into the design of that place. It was perfectly sized and designed for our group. We loved the big porches, the fireplace and enjoyed the well stocked kitchen. It is a short drive from Nantahala Outdoor Center and Fontana Dam. Our group was too young for rafting so we spent a day on Fontana Lake on a pontoon boat that we rented. Would definitely recommend it! There is a paved bike/running path within walking distance to the lodge that runs along the river. We enjoyed using it on several occasions. Really we couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Stunning Treasure on the Nantahala
We had our wedding on the Nantahala this weekend and part of our family stayed at the Nantahala Lodge so we were able to visit. The lodge is absolutely stunning. It is a treasure that the owners share it with others. The whole cabin is roomy and beautifully appointed. The bathrooms have natural stone showers that are just lovely. Two of the bedrooms are quite large suites. The third has adorable bunk beds which would be great for singles or kids. This would be a great place for two couples to share as the master suites are at opposite ends of the Lodge with the "bunk room" between them allowing for plenty of privacy. The kitchen is wonderful, complete with a great bar area. The really neat thing is the history of the place. It was built from reclaimed wood from the family's old cabins and there are family treasures from those properties throughout the lodge along with incredible wood and stonework. The wrap-around porch overlooks the Nantahala and is fantastic! One could sit out there all day and evening enjoying the sights and sounds of the river. Our uncle did some trout fishing right outside the lodge door! The owners are truly interested in making sure you have a wonderful stay. I'd also point out that the security deposit is completely reasonable given the high-end nature of the Lodge and the owners refund the deposit promptly when the property is left in good condition. If you want to treat yourself to an amazing experience, the Nantahala Lodge is the right place!

The Best of the Best!
Wow! I have never stayed at such an amazing cabin. The location could not have been better since it was literally a riverfront paradise. The cabin easily housed my party of eight without being cramped whatsoever. Everything from the large kitchen and dining room to the three full bathrooms, completely fulfilled our needs. The house was superbly designed and constructed and we really appreciated reading about the reclaimed materials used to build the cabin.
The cabin's location was ideal. We visited Wayah Bald Tower, hiked to the falls, and finished our day at Cafe Rel in Franklin. The next day we went White Water Rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and I do not remember the last time we had such a fun day. We ate a great dinner at the Nantahala River Restaurant on an outdoor patio over looking the Nantahala River. We can't wait to try the new Zip-line Adventure park when it opens in a couple of weeks! The next day we rented a pontoon boat and spent the day on the Nantahala Lake, and had the "Spaghetti Ice Cream" at Wayah Bald Cafe. We finished our stay with lazy days of fishing in the river from the front yard of the cabin, sipping wine on the front porch, and sitting by the campfire eating smores. Next time, we hope to use the discount vouchers provided by the owner, and visit Biltmore House in Asheville, NC.
We could not have had a more perfect stay! We really appreciated all of the little things like: fresh coffee, soap, bug repellent, first aid supplies, flashlights, plenty of clean linens, firewood, hammock, and a wooden swing. Literally, all we had to bring was clothes and food and we were set. I have already booked my next stay in the fall and I am so excited to see the leaves change colors. Thanks for an amazing vacation!
