One of the best VRBO listings I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The price for this pristine location steps from the Monteverde preserve are insane. This provided a cozy, gorgeous nook in the cloud forest my party of 5 enjoyed for 2 full nights. Gabriela is extremely easy to reach for all your questions, her directions were perfect despite the crazy, rainy ( occasionally scary!!) drive to this epic setting, The entire place was SO clean , the beds were comfy and we woke to the amazing sounds of birds and forest creatures coming alive. We felt so safe and warm after playing games in the evening after hiking the forest and having one of the best lunches at TACO TACO in Monteverde. The whole experience was absolutely wonderful!!

The house is large, clean and very comfortable. It is located right next to the entrance to the Cloud Forest reserve, which was our focus of visiting. The only drawback of this property is the under equipped kitchen.

The directions were perfect, we had no issues finding the home. What a wonderful experience! We arrived and there was delicious warm banana bread waiting for us! The home was clean, and comfortable. It felt like we were staying in a tree house which is exactly what we wanted. 10 min walk to Cafe Colibri and the Cloud Forest. We would definitely stay again!

Sime and cozy cottage. Close to town and Cloud Forest. Great time! No hot tub as referenced in the listing.

I had the best sleep in this house. The rain forest surroundings must helped.

Quiet place that was more than big enough for just us two adults. We only stayed one night but it was a peaceful sleep - very quiet - and the owners even provided banana bread for us which my wife said was yummy. (Gluten allergy for me as you can see in my other reviews or I would have tried it)
On directions - follow them exactly. We had some problems finding the place (it is just out of town) but literally the directions provided (first right after the Trapp place) is the one to then at. And park at the first plateau on the hill. Those are the directions but we had trouble as we doubted the lane to turn (it is very small). But a quick response to an IM from Gabriela set me straight. Very responsive host. Great stuff.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Casa Ira Rosa and loved it! Warm banana bread was waiting for us. Lots of room! It would be ideal for families or two couples. A bit far from town, but walkable to Monteverde Reserve, Curi Cancha, and Whole Foods market. Town was a short drive.

We loved how close walking distance it was to the entrance to Monteverde Cloud Forest so you could avoid the hassle of trying to park. We appreciated the hosts suggestion on where to shop and dining options. Our stay was very clean, cozy and full of nighttime bird song - which
lulled you to sleep. Would recommend the stay to anyone.

This property is beautiful and was great for our family of 4. The host helped us leave our luggage early and even provided fresh baked banana bread. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

This was our first stop on our first trip to Costa Rica. We loved everything about this house! Cozy bedrooms for all of us, the enclosed porch where we watched birds and watched the rain pour down during a thunderstorm, and a location that allowed us to ditch the car and walk to the cloud forest reserve. The communication and recommendations were very helpful. We will absolutely stay here again if we ever make it back to this beautiful spot.

Great location for our family of four. We were able to walk twice to the national park for a night hike, and a day hike. Easy and fun. The house is spacious and worked well for two teenagers. The welcome banana bread was delicious and a nice perk. Highly suggest this location if you are about seeing nature.

This is a beautiful, unique and carefully put together home, very clean, rustic and just right for the phenomenal location that it sits in. The forrest comes all the way up to the windows, and the pathways around the house are all in the forrest. It is quiet, peaceful, just 5 minutes to the entrance of the cloud forrest, and about 10 very bumpy minutes to the supermarket and St Elena. Make sure you look for the driveway according to the directions that you will be sent, and you’ll be fine! Thank you Gaby for the delicious Banana bread! It truly is a wonderful getaway!

A lovely cabin-house. Everything was as described. Bring warm clothes, it can be just a touch cool and damp at this elevation. The woodwork in the house is beautiful and so are the grounds. Walking distance from the preserve, a short drive to other amenities and attractions. Loved our stay.

Fantastic location! Peace and quiet in the cloud forest
This little cabin is so cute! The entire experience was great. The place was a little difficult to find because we didn’t have cell service, so be sure to download the directions and GPS coordinates in advance. If otherwise it’s the next driveway past the Trapp Family Lodge - which also has a nice restaurant, btw. This place has everything you need and the hosts are very hospitable. We’re definitely coming back if we can!

Cozy Cabina in Monteverde
I couldn’t have asked for a closer place to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve! The house had plenty of space ; nice big kitchen and living areas. Had a little trouble spotting the house, as it’s tucked in up behind trees.

Hidden gem
This place is just fabulous. So close to the rain forest, up in the forest and beautiful, massive cabin house with great hosts close by to help with anything. This was a complete winner. We’ve stayed here two years in a row now and will only stay here if we come back to monteverde!

Cute but not comfortable
Communication with the property manager was great and she gave good instructions to get there. The walk to the cabin is challenging , especially with luggage . The pictures of the cabin are very accurate . It’s cute but not comfortable at all.
The furniture is hard and uncomfortable side chairs . We are tall and found it awkward sitting on furniture.
The description does not disclose there is no A/C . She only told me no central heat but there were plenty of blankets throughout the cabin. There is one portable fan for the main bedroom . Did not see them in any other room. They do have a humidifier, but could probably use some damp rid , it’s very musty and damp smelling .
There was a sign saying that the aqueduct shuts the water off from 9 pm to 5 am. I think the cabin sleeps 5 . Can’t imagine having to carry pots from the kitchen container filled with water to the bathroom to manually flush the toilet during the night.?And everyone getting their showers in.
We stayed at 4 airbnbs during our stay in Costa Rica, by far was the most uncomfortable sleeping situation. The bed seemed to slope on one side , was very squeaky . You could not get out of bed without disrupting the other person.
The pillows need to be replaced. Flat and really soiled with stains.
The kitchen , the spices were all hard and unable to use . The sponge was in need of replacement and the dish soap seemed very diluted.
This is great location for the Cloud Forest. I’m really glad we only stayed one night. Wasn’t our favorite town and nothing was really walking distance . We are at the Tree House restaurant. The food was a bit over priced for what you got and how the food tasted and service was eh. The town wasn’t a favorite for walking .
We did go to San Lucas Tree Top Experience restaurant that was amazing and the Sky Trek Ziplining equally great.
As I mentioned, this is a “cute ‘ place but just not comfortable, we stayed in large homes with pools for less and we felt at home .
Gabrielle , the host was very nice and met us . I didn’t see much in the way of the binder that was mentioned . Some hand written maps in a plastic sleeve. A binder with letters from people that stayed at the cabin. You will need a car or taxi to get around here , roads are horrible in Monteverde

Homey accommodations in a great location.,
This little house has everything you need to rest and enjoy Monteverde. You can walk to the Cloud Forest Reserve in just 10 minutes, but it could take longer if you see any coatis along the way as we did.
The house has a small heater that does the trick in the cool evenings and there are lots of blankets throughout the house. In the evening we watched Netflix on their TV, played games that were provided and read books in their small library.
After doing a night tour in the park, we went out on our own the next evening and found tarantulas and a kinkajou within 100 yards of the house. Bring a flashlight to look for eye shine in the trees.
We are a walking family, so we walked into Santa Elena. It took about an hour, and we saw toucans along the way. We went to town for our Covid tests and lunch then decided to walk back up to the house instead of taking a taxi. It wasn't a bad walk and we saw more birds along the way.
If we were to return to Monteverde, we would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful home in the cloud forest
We stayed here for two nights while we explored Monteverde. The location is excellent, very close to entrance of cloud forest and short drive to everything else you might want to do in the area. Check-in was very easy and the property was clean and well-kept. Exactly like the photos! Delicious banana bread upon check-in. A great budget-friendly option in Monteverde!

Walk to the Monteverde Biological Reserve
Cute cabin in the woods. It's an easy 10 minute walk down the road to the biological reserve. Don't forget to go see the hummingbird attraction outside the park (free).

Spacious secluded VRBO
So much room, especially for just 2 people. Could easily fit more but keep in mind only 1 bathroom. Didn’t spend a ton of time at the house as we were busy out doing tours most of the time but the all of the spaces were adequate for a short or even a longer term stay.
It is outside of town close to the Monteverde cloud reserve so either have your own car or be ready to walk or call a taxi.
While here we did the skywalk, orchid garden, curi curcha night walk and monteverde cloud reserve. Highly recommend getting a guide for your tours as you will see so much more with them than on your own.

Beautiful, cozy cabin only 12 minute walk from Monteverde Rainforest
My family and I enjoyed staying at this cozy and comfortable cabin for 3 nights. It was the perfect amount of time to take in all of the fun activities in the area and relax in this beautiful cabin. We went zipling, went on a guided tour in the Monteverde Cloud Forest, visited the Bat Jungle, played pool at Bar Amigos in Santa Elena, did laundry at a local hostel, walked around the local feria, and had ice cream at the Heladería up the street from the cabin. We only met Gabriela’s brother on the night we arrived, so we had no interaction with the hostess. As other guests have mentioned, there was delicious homemade banana bread waiting for us, as well as local coffee for the next morning. Beds were very comfortable, lots of towels and fuzzy blankets for guests, and kitchen had all the essentials for cooking meals - including a blender for morning smoothies. While the home does have a washer, there is no clothes dryer, and as it is a moist cloud forest, your clothes will not dry well, so don’t count on doing laundry here.;)

Perfect location!
It is a beautiful home set in a beautiful location, perfect to come to after a long day of driving and hiking. This house definitely has room for a small family or group but it was just my husband and I traveling. The beds were comfortable, plus we had enough blankets because it does get a little chilly. The kitchen was fully stocked so we were able to enjoy a nice cooked meal between outings. Also, the delicious banana bread and coffee upon arrival was a fantastic treat!

Beautifully nestled house in Monteverde
This property is within walking distance of Monteverde and offered every comfort needed making for a wonderful stay. The host made an amazing loaf of tasty banana bread. The property is next to the Trapp Family Lodge making it easy to find.

Amazing mountain house
Amazing location w/in walking distance of the Monteverde Preserve entrance. Our host was very gracious, generous and helpful with all aspects of the home and area. We were given all the privacy we needed. House is all wood and so it creaks quite a bit under foot, but that's part of the charm. Super pleased with all the hot water and modern shower...spoiled! Couldn't get TV to work but didn't miss it. Would stay here again!

So many great reviews - we wondered if it would live up to expectations. It did! When we first arrived we were welcomed on site, given a thorough orientation and yes, the warm delicious banana bread arrived within the hour. What a treat. After being so hot in other areas, we appreciated the coziness of this unit. It was perfect for the needs of two couples. The kitchen was well supplied and we prepared many of our meals there. We did not have a vehicle, but this was not a problem. There was reliable public bus service right across the street. I would highly recommend this rental for a family, couples, or individuals.

Immerse Yourself in Cloud Forest Living
Loved it! Just make sure you get the directions before you leave home. It is the closest place you can stay to the Monte Verde Cloud Forest. Not far from town, but you would need to drive. Trapp Family Resort is a short walk and had wonderful service and food. We walked to the Cloud Forest 3 times. The place was wonderfully private, even though the owner lived just up the hill you can't see any other house. Huge windows line the main living area and all you see is woods. First morning, I looked out and an armadillo waddled by! Loved the design of the house. Beautiful native wood floors and wood ceilings, accented by bursts of bright tropical colors. Perfect for a family, as long as you weren't going to do a lot of cooking. There is a double hot plate and a toaster oven, big kitchen, will a full size frig. Comfy beds, high tread count sheets, lots of blankets (it was cold in the mornings). There is a wood stove, but we didn't stoke it up. Perfect shower to complete the experience; one of those "rain" shower heads up high, great for us tall people. Pictures don't do it justice or tell the whole story. Couldn't have been happier, Thank You Ronaldo and Gabby. Orchid garden in Santa Elena was fantastic and we also recommend Don Juan's Coffee, Cocoa and Sugar Cane tour.

Awesome place right next Reserva Monteverde
Such a beautiful property, right on the edge of Monteverde. I stayed a short time but absolutely loved that I can walk right up to the Reserve and enjoy the hummingbirds and look at the beautiful forest. Mostly quiet and away from everything. There is a bit of come and go traffic, just those going to work in the morning and visitors to the park during the day. However, of all places, since it is the last before the Reserva Monteverde, this must be the most tranquil. Loved it!! Every detail thought of. I especially love all the lamps and the sweet fireplace. What a find!!!

Perfect location
Love this home. It was our first day in Costa Rica and the place was exactly what we needed. After a long drive from the airport check-in was easy. The location could not have been better for us so close to the reserve.

Awesome!
Gabriella and Rolando's property in Santa Elena/Monteverde was exactly as described and more. Prior to our arrival, Gaby sent us some detailed directions on how to get to the porperty and instructions regarding check-in, help, and activities in the area. Indeed, the house is very, very close to the cloud forest preserve, to which you can easily walk to. It's a very tranquil property, and has all the things you need, particularly in the kitchen to make meals. The home was very spacious, and the rooms/beds were quite comfortable. It was also easy access to all the local activities around Monteverde. Would stay here again (if we ever decide to come back)!
