About this cottage rental
The Pink Cottage is located on Damariscotta Lake in Midcoast Maine. It’s a beautiful, clear 10 mile long lake with lots of coves, inlets and islands to explore.
The Pink Cottage is a great place to relax and enjoy the lake, wildlife and lovely sunrises. The cottage accommodates 6 people in 2 bedrooms and a loft which has limited headroom (5 feet, best for kids but fine for adults, sleeping only). One first floor bed room has a queen bed and the other has two twins. The loft has two twin size beds. The loft is closed off between November and April, therefore only four people. We have a "smart tv" so bring your passwords/pin for streaming. We have an antenna for local network tv: channel 8 and 10.
The enclosed sun-room overlooking the lake, a fully equipped kitchen with a new dishwasher, a living/dining room and a bathroom with shower finish out the first floor. There's a large deck, expansive lawn and a huge stone fire pit with wood supplied. We supply a canoe and three kayaks, two sit upon and one sit in. A public boat landing is just up the road so you can launch your boat from there and tie it up to our private dock.
Our sunroom looks out across the lawn and onto the lake where you can catch a glimpse of one of our resident eagles as well as loons and osprey. Keep your eyes out for fish jumping out by the marker. Large and small mouth bass are plentiful on the lake. Bring your fishing poles, just remember to get a license.
We have a strict no pet no smoking policy at the Pink Cottage.
Our favorite thing to do is have our coffee out on the deck in the morning and watch the lake come to life. During the day when the sun is bright and you’re not out exploring you can take a break in the hammock or in the hammock chair which is hanging lakeside. The area has wonderful hiking trails.
About 8 miles away is the town of Damariscotta. There you can find grocery stores, a large health food store, a bookstore, many wonderful restaurants, lots of galleries, gift shops and, of course, Reny's and Round Top Ice Cream (closes in October). There is a top notch library and YMCA if you need to get some.

Our family of 3 adults loved our stay at The Pink Cottage. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by our hosts, Ellen and Wilder. The property itself is beautifully maintained, clean, and equipped with all the amenities one could possibly need.
The location is perfect, offering a peaceful environment while still being close to local shops and restaurants. We had 3 days of not-so-great weather but always found something to do without having to drive very far. We also took advantage of the dock for fishing, the kayaks, swimming in the lake, and just relaxing down by the water or on the deck. We loved having the lake right outside the back door and the beautiful view.
Our hosts went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, checking in periodically to make sure everything was OK. The attention to detail and personal touches were appreciated.
Overall, our stay at The Pink Cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable getaway. We can’t wait to return!

Me, my husband, and our three kids stayed from June 30th through June 6th and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The cottage was spotless...I mean spotless! That is so important to me and I was not disappointed. It was equipped with just about everything you need for a great stay...from kitchenware to towels to kayaks and a canoe to wood for the firepit. There were fans and a portable air conditioner but we really didn't need anything because it was lovely and the perfect temperature with a great breeze so windows stayed open and we were quite comfortable. There are three bedrooms...a loft upstairs with two twin beds, a bedroom downstairs with two twin beds, and a bedroom with a queen size bed. Everyone was comfortable. The hostess met us at the cabin when we arrived and we were able to contact her to ask questions and she was very nice to talk to. The cabins is about ten minutes from town which had nice shops and restaurants. We had the best week. The property is lovely, the lake is clean as a whistle....no swampiness or anything like that. Cool aned clean and just a pleasure to swim in and kayak/canoe on. We heard loons at night and saw a giant eagle nest on the island across lake from the house. This place is a ten star and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Maine. There is only one bathroom but our family of five made it work. This place was great and we hope to return!

We had a great time at the Pink Cottage. Ellen was there to greet us when we arrived. She is a wonderful lady, told us the history of the cottage and area. The cottage has everything that you need. The fishing was good, small fish but they were biting. Didn't get to use the boats but it was nice that they were available.

The cottage inside and out is perfect! The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and even rescued us when we had a “tire issue.” Sitting on their glassed in porch with a book and a cup of coffee was icing on the cake!

The pink cottages warm embrace and view of heaven out every window made our anniversary that much more spectacular.
Ellen and Wilder were the perfect host’s.
We had the truest Maine experience right at the cottage, deer, eagle, loons, bear sighting down by the church our friend the sunk and more fish then I
have ever seen. The rest of our journey up and down the coast was amazing.
Hope you all take time to share time with each other and the Pink Cottage.
Thank you Rick + Vicki Whybrew

We loved everything about this cottage inside and outside. It was a perfect home located right on the lake with a lovely lawn between the house and the lake to lounge in the sun when the sun moves off the deck. We enjoyed kayaking and looking for the bald eagle that lives on the Island just across the lake. Ellen, our host was delightful to talk to. We will rent here again!

From the moment we stepped through the door, we felt comfortable and at home. Well stocked kitchen is an understatement. There were even chip clips and rubberbands! Very clean, and the lake views won't disappoint. I didnt want to leave the rear sunroom, which we appreciated on a rainy foggy Autumn day. This woods meets lake paradise will not disappoint. I could live here forever!

Beautiful and Serene Cottage
The Pink Cottage was the perfect place for the three of us to relax and enjoy beautiful Damarisciotta Lake, while also being close enough to visit our favorite spots in Maine. Clean, cozy, thoughtfully decorated and so well cared for. Ellen and Wilder were the perfect hosts. This is the best rental I have had the pleasure of staying in. Thank you so much for sharing this piece of Maine heaven! My sweet 90 year old Dad will treasure these memories.

Amazing house and property!!!!!
The area, the Lake front and view were absolutely stunning. It is a fully stocked house with every pot, pans, utensils, dishes, you name it they had it. All of the amenities you can think of that pertain to the inside of the house. You feel like you never left home. The owners were fantastic. They check in on you every day to make sure that you are OK and that you had everything you needed. We would absolutely want the pink cottage again. We had an awesome time.

Wonderful Week
What a great spot the Pink Cottage is! The cottage was very clean and the kitchen was exceptional well stocked (I always bring a few of my own Kitchen utensils just in case, and I didn't need to unpack any of them.)
We loved relaxing, swimming and paddling in the lake as well as exploring much of the Mid Coast area. Our only complaint would be - One week just wasn't enough to do all the things we wanted! :-) :-)
We are looking forward to returning to the Pink Cottage soon!

Wonderful place for a fall trip!
Perfect place for a fall getaway to Maine. This cottage is a great place to see the changing colors, watch the birds in the pine trees out front, and see the cows on the far hill from the kitchen window. Nice and warm, VERY well outfitted for cooking, and cozy front porch for morning coffee watching the sun rise.

Love the pink cabin!
My second time staying at the Pink Cabin. As before, everything was perfect! The owners are great to deal with and very helpful. The cabin and property are well maintained and have all you need. The cabin is also surprisingly big, 6 adults didn't feel crowded at all.

A little slice of heaven
So many accolades have already been written about The Pink Cottage and about Ellen and Wilder. What more to say? We had a delightful stay this past week during peak foliage season. This morning, our last day, the sun rose across the lake behind the large maples on the property, just offering enough lovely light to the dining area where we were having breakfast. Mists rose off the lake and wafted by, seemingly dancing in the sunlight. Lake clear as a mirror, winds quiet, golden and red leaves on the lawn, along with golden pine needles. What could be a more beautiful "last breakfast"?? It was 45 degrees, so we weren't sitting out on the deck. Can only imagine how spectacular the cottage and the setting is in the summer. But it was equally spectacular in its own way on this October day. We loved being so close to Damariscotta - great stores, restaurants and the best ice cream parlor ever. Ginger Pumpkin ice cream - wow. Pumpkinfest was in full swing this week and the pumpkins were astonishing. Too many hyperboles? Come and stay at the Pink Cottage and you will understand.

Great place to stay!
5 of us rented the Pink Cabin for a fishing weekend and everything was perfect. More space than it looks like in the pictures, it held the 5 of us without a problem.
Everything is clean and in excellent shape. I will definitely stay here again.

Pink Cottage as the way Maine should be.
The PInk cottage is the way I would have expected it to be, Ellen and Wilder are wonderful and ensure your stay will be memorable. The unit is comfortably furnished, kitchen and other essentials are well stocked. The views are magnificent as are the sunrise and sunsets. It was enjoyable seeing the steers across Blin Hill Rd and seeing the Muskrats early in the morning swimming out by the island. We looked forward to staying again.

The perfect home away from home and a jewel!
The pink cottage was everything and more! This jewel of a place will surely not disappoint! Ellen and Wilder were the hostess’s with the mostest. The outdoor grounds were so beautiful and the home as charming as ever. We will surely be back to create more memories to come. It will be sad to leave this magical place and all that it shared with my family. My husband was thrilled to catch lots of fish and I was thrilled to read relax and puzzle. My children enjoyed the magic carpet. The pictures online could not capture this cottages natural beauty!❤️ I truly loved where this cottage was positioned on the lake. I enjoyed the great food and lobsters and of
Course the famous Round Top

Calm cottage on the lake
Beautiful views each morning across the lake, great evenings gathered around the outdoor fire pit. Inside house had clean kitchen, comfortable beds. Dining area is part of the living room, so on rainy days may feel a bit snug. Pretty lakeside cottage.

Late October Stay in a gem of a vacation home in Paradise
Lovely cottage in a place that is hard to imagine really exists. We visited for a week in late October, picked the sunrise facing bedroom and enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, the comfortably furnished living room, sunny porch overlooking Lake Damariscotta in its Fall glory, the sunrise deck and the hammocks in the breeze. All wonderful! The manicured grounds had just enough wildness and just enough grooming to make being outside with a good book a great pleasure. The selection of canoes, kayaks, and cookout equipment made the lake a magical place that we could almost not believe really exists. The inside of the cottage is stocked just as you would want, new laundry equipment, nicely assorted dishes, pots, pans, implements, really, everything you'd put there if you owned the cottage yourself. We come to Maine every year, always staying in a new place, sometimes in a deeply remote location sometimes not so remote. This year we wondered what late October would be like and found that we made a fantastic choice. We would return again. The owners keep this place in a spotless and comfortable condition. Wilder might even share a fishing secret or two with you ( thanks Wilder, the fishing was wonderful and your advice panned out!) I am trying to think of a negative to mention that might add credibility to an otherwise gushing review. I can't. The nearby town has all of the the quaint restaurants, pubs, seafood markets, and even a fascinating historical museum. There are some nearby hiking trails, animal sanctuaries, and State Parks. We hiked through a natural wonderland for one afternoon, discovering a place by a river in fall color that can't be described in anything but good poetry. Next time, we'll need to remember to bring along a poet. So when you want to be busy cooking for yourself or or being fed a fine meal in a nice restaurant, or active or reposed, it's all there for you. But when you get back to the cottage you can drop out to a relaxing experience that is not easy to find any more. Perhaps I might complain that a week has only seven days. We could have used a month of days. But this cottage is in great demand. Now we know why. Thanks Ellen. We hope to stay again!

The Pink Cottage is completely charming
Our stay was relaxing and comfortable...a cozy little place full of views, light, and tastefully mismatched furniture, just like your magazine-idea of what a cottage in Maine should be! The lake was chilly in October, of course, but our family enjoyed the canoe. The readers appreciated the book collection. We would gladly stay there again.

Great cottage, well stocked, exceptionally clean, beautiful view! What more could anyone want?
Our first trip to Maine was in 1973 and we stayed at the Pink Cottage! It was such a delight to return and see all the changes made over time. The surrounding area is beautiful and very peaceful. We enjoyed relaxing and sitting on the glassed-in porch enjoying the view of the lake, as well as exploring the immediate area. Ellen and Wilder Hunt are perfect hosts and very available to see to any need or question that you may have.

Great Stay!
The Pink Cottage was a perfect little Maine cottage on the lake. We enjoyed our stay very much and the lake was very nice. The cottage is very well stocked. Ellen (owner) was very helpful and showed us everything when we got there. The lake water was cold in late May early June when we were there but the kids went swimming anyway and enjoyed it. The cottage was in a great location to everything. You can drop down the the coast or drive up route 1 to get to other points of interest. Note: Go the speed limit in Maine no matter how painfully slow it is because we saw people pulled over several times for speeding. This was the family's first time to Maine and we loved it! You will have a great time here and this cottage is a great place to stay if you want slow down and enjoy some peace and quiet and still be able to travel to all the points of interest around. Thanks Ellen for everything!

Quiet and relaxing place to unwind.
Our vacation at the Pink Cottage was a very enjoyable experience. Ellen was there to greet us and showed us around . Everything we needed was in the cottage. We enjoyed cooking on the new weber grill that was provided. The kayaking was great as well as the fishing. The local stores were a short drive away. The fire pit was enjoyable to relax by in the evening , wood was provided . Sitting on the porch in the morning watching the sun rise over the lake was a wonderful way to start each day. This was everything we were expecting and more.

Damariscotta Cottage rental exceeds our expectations
We arrived at the Cottage after a 5 hour ride from Massachusetts to be greeted by a bald eagle flying over the dock. There was a loon family floating by the raft off the beach. The lake was beautiful and there were more eagles flying over the two islands opposite the beach.
Now about the cottage, it was immaculate and it seemed that the dishes, silverware and the gas grill were either new or super clean. The beds were really comfortable with a lot of cross ventilation. The kitchen had everything we needed.
The sunroom overlooks the lake and the ample deck outside had a picnic table and other casual chairs. There is a fire pit down by the lake that we had fun with, as well as another picnic table.
We went to Louis Doe’s in Newcastle to get fishing tackle and fished off of the dock. Canoeing was great and we went to one of the nearby islands and picked a quart of wild blueberries!!!
For shopping for food there is a Hannefords and a large organic food market15 minutes away in Damariscotta as well as Round Top ice cream and downtown Damariscotta provided many shops and restaurants.
From New Harbor near Damariscotta we took a boat to Monhegan Island, highly recommended!
An not to forget the great rope hammock and the rope hammock chair that swings slightly over the lake! One of us spent hours reading there!
Does it get any better than this? After coming to Maine and specifically Lake Damariscotta for 40 years this place beats all I have seen!!
Thanks to Ellen and Wilder for providing a great vacation spot!!

Great Canoeing from the Pink House
We selected this house for a stay on Lake Damariscotta because it came with the use of a canoe (actually 2 canoes and 2 kayaks, but we stuck with one canoe) and were not disappointed. For our September stay the lake was almost a private waterway for us. There's much to explore, and in one week we did not even reach all the possible places to paddle that were within our range. Besides seeing an eagle and a few osprey, along with many more common birds, we also had our first-ever sightings in the wild of a beaver and of a weasel. Very exciting.
The cabin itself is very cosy, and the kitchen very well equipped. The screened in porch is wonderful, and we spent many hours there. When we had a few cold nights, the heating system was quiet and efficient.
The best part of the deal is Ellen. She is very friendly and most, most helpful. We were traveling by bicycle and shopping for groceries was going to be a challenge, as it's 7 hilly miles from the supermarket to the cabin. No problem, said Ellen. She met us at the store and carried our week's supply of food and our bike luggage by car while we rode our now lightweight tandem bike to the cabin.
This place is is a real find. You'll have a great week (or more) here.
