To answer the most common question, yes, we are 'steps' away: 80 medium sized steps for me! The beach is down a sandy path and is a one of the world's best. We are located near the beach park in Kailua.
The unit is a freestanding, not connected to the main home. It has its own entrance from the street. It is very private!
The main part of the house is an 'L' shaped room with the kitchen at one end and a queen-size bed at the other. The middle of the ‘L’ has a sofa and chair. The separate bedroom has two twin beds. The kitchen and bath have been remodeled and look great! There kitchen is equipped with anything you need for cooking. There is a TV with cable and wireless internet connection. The inside is very nice. There is a new washer and dryer in the garage. There is parking for one car on the street. You can search for more pictures.
There are vendors within walking distance for windsurfing equipment. There are plenty of good restaurants in Kailua we can tell you about when you are here.

The pictures and description of the accommodations and surrounding area are spot on.
Quick walk down to Kailua beach (and Lanikai beach) and a quick walk into town to the restaurants and grocery stores etc. Bus stop is near by as is the rental shop for kayaks, surf boards etc.
Lisa and Mark were quick to respond to any concerns.
We would stay here again if we have an opportunity to vacation on Oahu again.

It was really wonderful location access to Kailua Beach, and very quiet neighborhood.
There is enough space for a couple of people inside and outside.
Only missing item is A/C. The fans didn't help to make inside cool, and it was a little difficult to keep sleeping all night long.
My wife and I would like to come back here again if it will have A/C at least in bed room.

The property is literally steps from the private beach access. Cute and quaint guesthouse. Only issue with going during the summer is there was no ac and even with the windows open all day/night, the crosswinds didn’t help cool down the inside. However, there’s an abundance of fans at your disposal that we were able to use to help circulate air. But Oahu is phenomenal, snorkeled using the gear provided at the house, did a lot of hiking, kayaking and swimming. The market is a block away to grab sandwiches, snacks and any toiletries we forgot and Buzz’s is a short walk or drive down the road! Great time. Thx Mark!

I was immediately impressed when we first walked in as to how spotlessly clean the unit was.
This is the exact location we were looking for in Kailua…a quiet street and just a few steps out the front door to the beach path. Next time we come to Kailua, we plan to stay here again.

This was a fabulous place to stay! It is truly just steps to a beautiful sandy beach. It is also walking distance to restaurants and kayak/snorkeling rentals. Also a nice location to travel to other parts of the island. Loved it! The apartment itself was spacious and comfortable.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property and the location was outstanding…a short 2 min walk to beautiful Kailua Beach and right around the corner for Kalapawai Market. The unit was very clean and larger than expected. Our party of 3 had plenty of room and privacy. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking meals and we enjoyed playing cards at night around the large kitchen table. We appreciated the well stocked linens, paper products and beach gear. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed chatting with them a couple times during our visit. They left us plenty of space and privacy throughout our stay. We would definitely choose this property again, the next time we stay in Kailua. The only suggestions we could think of were hanging a mirror in the twin beds bedroom and maybe a couple of new beach chairs. Everything was great - thank you for a wonderful time!

This VRBO has an excellent location in Kailua. It truly is steps from the gorgeous beach and the shortest walk to Kalapawai Market and the cute shops and shave ice on Kailua Rd. It is spacious-(plenty of room for 2 and probably great for up to 4), clean and well equiped. A true gem!

Cozy Cottage
This is a lovely cottage in Kailua just steps from the famous and beautiful Kailua Beach. The cottage has a large one bedroom with two single beds. There is another queen size bed in a nook off the living room TV area which is next to the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a dishwasher. The bathroom is long with a bathtub/shower on one end and toilet on the other end and a long sink area in the middle. There is no washer/dryer or air condition but there are plenty of fans available. There are also plenty of towels and beach towels and three boogie boards in the back yard. Mark was very nice and accommodating and available to answer any questions or help if needed. I would recommend this cottage especially for the prime location and cleanliness of the cottage almost right on the beach!

Kailua, Oahu nice and mellow.
This was our second attempt at traveling to Hawaii since our first trip had to be cancelled. We lucked out at the last minute and scored this cottage and ended up closer to the beach and in the area we wanted. Plenty of beds and amenities for my wife and two kids. It has a nice little parking spot for a car, but I don’t recommend anything bigger than a Toyota Corolla like we had. The walk to the beach is short as well as the market for treats or a quick lunch. We enjoyed the little backyard area which is good for reading a book or a yoga session. Even though our trip was on the shorter side, it felt like time slowed down. Guys from work said I looked ten years younger once I got there. Definitely recommend a visit. Communication with the host is quick and easy.

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The accommodations were comfortable, spacious, and bright! Everything we could ever need was thoughtfully provided. Great place right next to the beach. Hot though (No AC)
This was a spacious place to stay and the location is perfect. Just a small walk to the beach. We had a lot of privacy and everything was great. Owner was very nice and accommodating. However, if you are going in the hot summer months, I would recommend a different beach house that has AC. There was not an AC unit in this place and it was difficult to sleep, regardless of the fans. All this place needs is at least one window AC unit and then this place would be perfect.

Perfect location!
Recently we spent 12 nights at this property. If you are traveling with small children and looking for a private less crowded vacation this location is perfect. House had all basics. Very convenient for families. Literally few steps from beautiful beach and less than a 5 minutes drive to Kailua town. Owners Mark and Lisa are available and live next door, initially I was little bit concerned with privacy however that was not an issue. Most days it felt as we were all alone. My only wish was that the house had A/C. Unfortunately house had no A/C as indicated in property details. We were aware of this prior to booking. There are several fans available but unfortunately at night we did not get much air or breeze, which made most of the nights uncomfortable to fall a sleep. During the day this was not an issue as we were outdoors. If you can get by without A/C I would strongly recommend this property.

This VRBO stay exceeded our expectations. We’ve stayed at 4 properties in Kailua in the past 12 years and this was by far the best. Location can’t be beat- steps from the beach and Kalapawai market. Easy walking distance to Kailua town and Lanikai beach.
The rental unit was much larger than we expected, which was a great surprise. They provided coolers, beach towels, chairs, snorkels, goggles and beach toys which cut down on our packing.
I’ve already sent this property link to a few friends. We will be back- hopefully for a longer time in the future!

This trip was nothing short of amazing. The home was just perfect for my family of 4. The home is just steps from the beach, as described. The home comes with sand toys for the kids as well as enough beach towels for the family. With fan that were provided the house stays cool at night and is not comfortable without air conditioner. Mark is very personable and a wonderful host. I highly recommend this home and excited for future stays.

Could not be much closer to the beach
This property is just as advertised. I did not even need to put on shoes to get to the little path that leads to the beautiful beach. It is also really handy to the main town of Kailua for easy access to groceries, restaurants and anything else you need. The cottage even had a cooler and great beach towels we could use. As it says in its ad, it does not have air conditioning but we were fine with the ceiling and table fans they had. It was nice to have a full kitchen too. They have a lovely outdoor area with table and chairs.
We are sorry to leave and hope to come back some day.
For an unrelated tip, if you are looking for inexpensive men's Aloha shirts, check out the local Goodwill store.

Look no further
Firstly, Mark is an excellent host. He and his wife have lived on Oahu for many years and have an excellent knowledge of the island and local attractions. The pictures in the listing do not do the property justice. It's a beautiful guest house with a spacious kitchen and bathroom. This rental comfourtably slept myself and my wife and our friend who took the bedroom. We slept on the queen bed that is in a nook off of the lounge room. Steps to the beach is an understatement as this property is literally a short, gorgeous path away from a world class stretch of beach on the islands east facing side. Sunrises were absolutely incredible from the beach as the sun essentially comes up from behind the Mokulua islands a little ways south. The beach itself is absolutely pristine, busy but not crowded and on windy days provided excellent sport for the wind and kite surfers. I cannot stress enough how gorgeous and accessible the beach was merely a minute away from the front door of this rental. This property is also very conveniently located from the Market in Kailua (great deli, amazing coffee, full beer and wine selection). It's a very short walk away. There's a rental facility nearby where we got SUP's and bicycles. I had brought my own snorkeling and loved my short rides to some great snorkeling at nearby Lanikai beach. There's an incredible little hike called the Lanikai pillbox nearby that we did a few times and has views that I literally don't have the words to describe. The great thing about Kailua is that it's got all the amenities of a small town (whole foods, breweries, restaurants, target) but none of the overbuilt commercialism and tourist traps of Honolulu. The accessibility to the North Shore for day trips and other great Oahu hikes like the Lighthouse and Pink Pillbox along with Kailua's charm made this the perfect location for us. As I said, look no further, book this now if you're lucky enough to get the dates for it!

What a wonderful space and the perfect location. The home had everything needed for my 5 day vacation. I don’t know if there is anything better than rolling out of bed, making coffee and walking the beach at
Sunrise. This place made it simple and magical every morning.
