About this cabin rental
Summer rentals July & Aug are by the week from a Fri to a Fri. Looking at summer 2026 availability? I get just a couple of weeks available each year so book early.
This is a vintage 1947 cabin makeover that captures the essence of early McCall and combines it with the flavor of today. A tasteful mix of old with new makes for a delightful summer getaway or winter hideout. A solid wall of glass across the front opens onto a large deck area with stainless steel cable railing that allows for amazing views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Winter sunrises and sunsets paint the mountains in shaded colors that are vividly different to the bold strong ones of summer.
Earthy interior details include a radiant heated floor, a cozy gas fireplace, Mr Steam shower for two, and the original 'combed plywood' kitchen cabinets and wall treatments.
Walk outdoors from the lower covered deck area which opens directly onto the sandy beach just 10' from the water. This deck is perfect for being outside while you watch the kids playing on the beach. Or just gather together for a hand of cards without the sunburn - guaranteed!!
The large upper deck opens from the living room and the views are spectacular. Views of the sunrise and sunset are breathtaking. The colors that spread across the mountains and across the lake are endless. Bring your camera for some great photos.
Bring your own boat and toys, or rent them from Cheap Thrills. The large private dock is perfect! Dine on either of the 2 decks or on the covered side porch.
Furnishings combine the original bamboo period pieces with contempory European ones for the best in comfort. There are 4 bedrooms in the house (2 king beds downstairs, 2 queen beds upstairs). There are 2 twin beds in the detached bunk house (rechristened 'The Boat House,' but with no heat source, it is suitable for summer use only.
The kitchen has new appliances (including a commercial Viking cooktop), a farm sink, and a large butcher block island that seats 6 (great for indoor brunches and light dining). A modern office in the back has wireless, and lots of workspace. There is a Sundance hot tub on the lower deck that seats four. There are 2 flat screen televisions, one in the living room, one in one of the king size bdrms.
The house is located just one mile N on Warren Wagon Road. You can easily boat, bicycle, or hike to town. There is a bike trail a short distance from the house & you can bike from there all the way around the lake or access the many trails in Bear Basin just across the street. Maps are provided in the house. There are great restaurants, several hot springs, and excellent golf courses from which to choose. Winter allows for great snowmobile forays, or if you're inclined to ice-skating, the Manchester Ice Rink is a delight, or better yet, clear a swath of snow from the frozen lake for your own private rink.
Snowboarding and skiing in the winter is only 17 minutes away at Brundage Ski Resort! There are many hot springs nearby, but our favorite is Bergdorf Hot Springs, which is accessible in the winter only by snowmobile (rent some from Cheap Thrills).

This cabin could not be in a more ideal location. Right at water’s edge and with its own sandy beach, it beckoned us to dip our toes despite it being too cold to swim yet. (Mid May). The scenery is sublime as is the cabin itself. 6 of us gathered to celebrate 2 birthdays. We found everything we needed in the kitchen and cabinets for our festivities. In the evening we enjoyed the hot tub and a beachfront campfire. We loved the eclectic decorating style, and all the fun touches. Our 18 month old granddaughter fell in love with the fuzzy stuffed salmon, and we appreciate that there was a movable wire fence available to set up at the top of the deck stairs to ensure her safety. All in all, it was a splendid weekend in your obviously much loved cabin.

Very clean, convenient to town. Downstairs bedrooms large and comfortable. Living room furniture uncomfortable, which was a problem when it was cold and raining.

The property was amazing!! I can't say enough good things about Robert & the house- very clean house & property, amazing views, close to town, wonderful hospitality, and an overall wonderful weekend!! Just what our family needed to relax & recharge. Weather unfortunately did not cooperate with us, but it still was a great experience & made even better with Robert offering to take us on a tour of the lake when we got a break in the rainstorms. Would DEFINITELY stay here again! :-)

Lovely lakeside cabin
This was our second stay at this cabin, and first winter trip to McCall. The location is great. House has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Helpful hosts. Highly recommend this rental.

Beautiful Location
We absolutely loved our time here. The home was great, and clean. We went to bed staring at the lake and woke up staring at the lake. Best view ever! We spend a lot of time outdoors and had a great dinner at the Narrows Steakhouse just down the street. The brewery was fun too. Do yourself a favor and rent this gem. It was a great place to decompress and let your stress disappear. We didn’t have a worry in the world, it’s just peaceful. Minus the bald eagle that was trying to get the baby duck right off the shore in the back of the house. That was stressful! Thankfully it got away. :)

Exceptional property
We had a great experience staying at The Lake House. The house is wonderful, charming and very well equipped. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook and serve meals. We didn’t have any issues with the property (which is often not the case with rentals).
You cannot beat the view. Sunrises we’re amazing. Robert and Vicki are wonderful hosts. They were great to work with before and during our stay. They were very responsive, helpful and accommodating. We can’t wait to go back.

50th Anniversary Celebration was WONDERFUL!
We had a lovely view of Payette Lake! Seriously, you can't beat the scenery, whether enjoying a meal or greeting the day at sunrise on the patio. The small beach area was perfect for roasting marshmallows and a small bonfire. We served a big 50th anniversary dinner for my parents on the deck and made beautiful memories as a family.
Robert and Vicki were very attentive and communicated well. They stayed on the property in their camper.
The boathouse ended up not being a viable place to sleep, as the door wouldn't close completely or latch, but we all found places to snuggle in for the night. We all hope to return someday to The Lakehouse!

Perfect Snowy Spring Break
We had a fabulous few days here and hope to return. An exceptionally well-stocked kitchen and chef’s gas stove made cooking three meals a day feel like a luxury. Restaurants have reopened for the most part but we enjoyed eating meals at the house and taking in the stunning view. Gazing out over the frozen lake at the snowy mountains boosts your serotonin levels instantly. :) Steam shower was the perfect way to warm up after being outside for hours. Everything was perfect. Thank you and we can’t wait to return!

Snow perfection
This was the perfect house for a snowy getaway. The kitchen was better stocked with all the gear needed to cook wonderful meals than any house I’ve ever rented. There was a ton of snow, which is exactly what we wanted! Thansk!

Comfy Cabin
This cabin was so cute and had a unique style. There is plebty of room if you have a large group and would be a great place to stay in the summer. It was a little cold when we got there, but eventually warmed up and even got a little too warm, not a bad problem to have in the winter. We enjoyed our relaxing stay!!

Beautiful spot. Even in the winter when the lake is frozen!!
Great property with unique McCall charm. The view of Payette Lake and the surrounding mountains is stunning. The electric fireplace kept the place cozy and the lakefront hot tub was perfect for after a day of skiing. Would definitely go back!

Condo on the river
The unit was nicely appointed and very comfortable.
Unfortunately when we arrived we were met with the maintenance people who informed us that the water was going to be off indefinitely. It was an issue for a couple of days. Also, the pool was not usable for the entire time we were there, due to the water issue. We have stayed at this complex before and would rent there again.

DOCK and BEACH +++++
We had three must haves when booking this house and this house met all three. BEACH/DOCK/HOT TUB. Our kids enjoyed every moment in their little play are behind the dock. We swam, played and even rented a boat which we were able to dock at the house for several days. The two masters are very spacious. The property manager is very friendly as well as the owners. The big plus was finding a huckle berry grove on the property.

Quintessential McCall!
If you visit McCall, you HAVE to stay ON the lake, and to find a cabin within 10 feet of the water is as good as it gets! This absolutely cool authentic cabin was the perfect site for my birthday family reunion. Ten of us were absolutely comfortable (with one couple in the darling boathouse), and trips to town easy and convenient. The owners were very responsive to all of our questions. I would definitely stay here again.

Cute cabin on the water
This cabin is adorable. Beautiful views from all points of the property. From the owner to the property manager everyone was so kind and accommodating. The cabin is close to the store if needed but far enough out where you feel secluded. This is a great cabin!

IDYLLIC GETAWAY
Siblings and spouses from IL and AZ joined their brother and spouse who moved to Boise, ID 23 years ago for a reunion at this fabulous lakefront home in McCall. The owners met us at the home to make certain we were familiar with all of the amenites and how the fireplace, heat etc. worked. We were awed by the magnificent views from literally every room! We were able to see the most gorgeous ever changing views of the sky, lake and mountains imaginable! The living room/social area located in front of an expansive wall of glass was outstanding for scenery and ambiance. We were all mesmerized at the magnificent beauty. I don't believe there is any location in McCall this unique. We even had a handsome deer with beautiful antlers sleeping in our front yard. He sat so still we thought he was a concrete statue but then he blinked and moved his head and startled us! We are looking forward to returning in the summer so we can enjoy the dock and private beach. We want to express a special thank you to the owners, Robert and Vicki Lambert for helping to make our stay memorable. They even provided a magnificent history of the 1947 cabin and how they updated and remodeled it while maintaining the vintage charm. Our family from IL and AZ were truly impressed!!!

Well appointed, spacious, clean and relaxing
This lakeside property is a gem! We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay during our recent visit to McCall. The property manager and owners were fantastic to deal with and the accommodations were spot on. We hope to be back some day!!

Gorgeous property with amazing views!
I brought a group of 9 friends to stay for Labor Day weekend 2017. We showed up and met Vicki and her husband at the house. They are wonderful hosts, extremely accommodating and make it a priority to ensure you are comfortable. The views from the deck over looking the lake and mountains are unforgettable. The location is close to town, but very private. (You can't beat having your own private beach!) Nothing bad to report about this property! Highly recommended! Thank you for everything Vicki!!

A WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY...
We wish we could say this was the worst vacation ever (just so no one else would go!)...but it wasn't..it was fantastic! Accommodations in this lakefront home were very well suited for our family, with plenty of space for friends to arrive and stay for a quick overnight visit too. Owners were great to work with and proactive in helping to ensure our stay was the best it could be. The place is nice, but not so over the top that we had to feel like we couldn't relax and enjoy our stay. Beach and dock for kids was fantastic...sandcastles and smores galore. Riding and running up Bear Basin was excellent as was road riding to Upper Payette Lake. We'll be back!

Thanksgiving at the Lake House
Thanksgiving is our "family holiday". Because half of our family is in Southern California and the other in Boise, we alternate between the two places. After more than 10 Thanksgivings, by far this one was the best. There are 9 of us and the Lake House was perfect for us. Plenty of room, comfy bedrooms and bathrooms. Very warm and cozy in spite of cold temperatures. But by far the best part for me was waking up, early in the morning and finding my grandchildren, not on phones or watching television, but mesmerized as the sun rose over Payette Lake. Absolutely spectacular.
If you are concerned about things to do during this time of the year, think about hikes in the state park, ceramic classes, ice skating, the spa at Shore Lodge, marshmallow roasting in the fire pit or the community Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Best are the family games in the living room at the Lake House.
Wonderful, spectacular and fun. So fortunate that Vicki shared her home with our family, we will be forever grateful for our memories.

Fantastic McCall Lakefront Property
Wanted you to know we had a spectacular weekend! Just the thing my husband and I were looking for after a long harvest and planting season! It would have been easy to stay longer if we didn't need to get home to our children and business. Thanks for sharing your home. It's a wonderful place!

Incredible Lake View and Hot Tub....ahhhhh
Stayed here with our daughter and grandchildren for a long weekend and had a wonderful time. The home is located at the end of a private road and we felt secluded though there are lakefront homes stretched north and south from here. The well-maintained vintage cabin and decor was really nice, and we hardly left the huge lakefront deck addition (very strong and spacious). The home has a very nice lakefront set up with dock, beach area, fire pit, and kid's picnic areas. Kitchen is on small side but has nice appliances. Wasn't room for a dining area but a handy butcher block bar works ok. Only complaint - master bed was way too soft for our preference. Soaking in a hot tub at dawn watching the sun come up over the Payette forest and lake....well, you just can't beat that! Thanks for the wonderful stay. We'll be back for sure.

Lovely lakefront home
This was a very nice home and we very much enjoyed our stay here. I rated 4 stars just because I felt it was a little expensive relative to the home, but I have no complaints and would certainly consider booking again depending on how rates trend in the future.

Beautiful and Amazing Spring Getaway
We just finished our relaxing girls' weekend at this gorgeous lake house on Payette Lake. I really cannot say enough about this wonderful home and the great experiences we were lucky enough to have. The house sits a few shorts steps away from the lake, with a white sandy beach and its own dock. The upstairs deck had gorgeous views from dawn till dusk and same with the patio on the lower level. We had everything that we could have possibly needed in the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. The house is updated and beautiful on the inside and there was plenty of room for all 7 of us girls. The owners have really taken the time to make sure every detail was perfect for our stay. The hot tub was so awesome and relaxing, we used it during the chillier evenings and again right when we woke up, to see the sun coming over the mountains.
The owners are prompt to respond with any questions we had before and during the stay and they also have a contact in McCall that is there if you need them. It really was a great experience from the booking until the moment we left. I was ready to book my next stay before the weekend was over!

The perfect spot to enjoy a winter wonderland
We spent the New Year's week up at the cabin and we had the most wonderful, relaxing, fun filled, time. Mornings watching the sunrise across the lake were stunning. We watched the lake freeze right before our eyes the week we were there. Family dinners in the very well equipped kitchen were so very easy. The entire home is very well appointed. There wasn't anything else we could have needed. The office space too came in handy. The hot tub was wonderful to relax after a fun day in the snow. We love the sushi spot in town and the Blue Moose up the road for the best pizza we've all had in Idaho yet. I would recommend this to couples, families, groups of friends wanting to get away from it all while still being very close to it all too. Thanks for sharing this special place with us. A memorable trip for all of us.

Perfect Thanksgiving
Our family wanted to spend Thanksgiving in Idaho where our daughter attends college. We didn't quite know what to expect going in, but I have to say everything went beyond any expectations we might have had.
The setting is simply stunning. McCall itself is beautiful and the cabin is right on the lake, which reflected the snow-frosted mountains in the day and the rising full moon shimmering at night. Words do not do it justice, you have to see it. We were surrounded by a snowy winter wonderland yet watched the sunrise sipping coffee around the fire pit and sunset relaxing in the hot tub. There are fun day outings to do as well, we decided to go sledding and had quite a little adventure.
To top it off our actual Thanksgiving meal was our best ever as the kitchen is super well-equipped. The convection/microwave oven is awesome and there's also a great BBQ that's easily accessible from the kitchen. There's even a second fire pit for s'mores on the upper deck. The house is clean and cozy, the beds comfortable, upstairs fireplace especially rocks. The master bedroom setup is outstanding with its own views of the lake.
Negatives are hard to come by, but just in the interests of a fair review I'll list a couple... NFL is a Thanksgiving tradition but the TV situation (the Roku thing) isn't set up for "normal" channel viewing, so I had to stream the game, and for a family with teenagers all trying to hog bandwidth on multiple devices the Wifi was sputtering at times. Also, there's no real dining room, which was fine for us to have a more casual Thanksgiving but should mention it for others. The upstairs is smaller than some might expect as it's one family room connected to the open kitchen, but the fact that this room has floor-to-ceiling glass doors & windows with more than plenty of comfy chairs that feature the view out over the lake was perfect for us. I guess the no dishwasher may be a final negative, but for us it was just more family time to play music and do them together.
Probably like most who want to get away, we weren't there for wifi, tv, etc., we were there to be with each other and that's what I will remember most about this cabin. We would definitely love to come back and see it in summertime, that must be amazing as well.

Heaven on Earth!
What can I say? This place is truly magical! Everyone who stayed in the cabin felt completely transfixed, at peace and in awe. I'm so grateful that Vicki and Robert have opened this amazing gem of a cabin up to renters to be able to also experience their views and atmosphere.
The house is super well appointed and had absolutely everything we needed. We actually felt like the house was bigger than we thought it would be. The office space came in very handy for more spreading out for our group of ten and many toddlers wandering around. The decks were the toddlers favorite place to play and are very up to date and safe for them. They added amazing square footage to the living area and were constantly in use, even in freezing wind because we just couldn't bear leaving to go inside. With the upstairs sliding doors open to the kitchen and great room we literally felt as though we were on a cruise ship as the water is all you see from the upstairs. You will not get that from a new cabin on the lake as they have to be set back another fifty feet these days. That makes this cabin truly special!!!
The house had plenty of clean linens and super clean and super comfortable beds. We had multiple people with back issues that did awesome on these beds. The kitchen was super cute and had a fantastic layout, lots of counter space and I loved the sink! We had very fun breakfasts all gathered around the butcher block island.
The decks were unlike anything I've ever seen, they are everything to this cabin. Three sets of sliding doors opening onto them were such a fantastic modern feature. Literally every view is captured.
This view is so amazing that we left on our second day to go to town and after ten minutes in town quickly turned around to go back because nothing in town compared with what we had back at the cabin and we felt our precious time with our cabin being wasted haha.
Also important to mention that Vicki, Robert and Angie are super attentive and friendly and do everything possible to make sure your trip is super special. I had mentioned to Vicki how wonderful their dock looked and how excited I was to get to play on it and enjoy the view out on the water and was super sad to hear they were bring in the docks for the offseason just before we were to arrive. Imagine my surprise when just our dock alone was left out when we arrived so that we could have a chance to enjoy it also. Now that is service!
Stop thinking, just rent it!

My first visit to McCall and the lake, and I couldn't have been more impressed with the quality and location of this beautiful accommodation! I stayed in the lovely, immaculate downstairs master bedroom, which has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, not to mention a steam room/shower and attractive gas fireplace that takes the chill off in no time. Best of all is the view of the lake through the two huge glass doors that open directly from the bedroom onto the lower patio, hot tub, sweet private beach and boat dock. So much deck space and cushy furniture, I could have sat on the beach or the deck or the dock all day every day. The whole place, inside and out, is clearly well-maintained and very tastefully decorated. Kitchen is charming and furnished with everything you need, all up-to-date appliances and great butcher-block island and breakfast bar. All in all, an excellent choice. I can't recommend the property highly enough if you get a chance to visit this enchanting corner of Idaho.

I stayed at the Lake House in June 2015 for a week of blissful rest. The cabin is well appointed with anything you would need for cooking, enjoying a picnic on the beautiful beach out front and a great new book to read since I left mine on the airplane. Very comfortable and cozy with amazing views of the lake. It is so tastefully decorated with a modern flair keeping the warmth of the old cabin in tact. Very inspiring for my own limited decorating abilities. There was plenty of room for our group to spread out and enjoy some tranquility and then come together for cooking and festivities. I highly recommend this cabin!

The positives first, very close to lake, lots of sand, nice owner and manager.
The negatives, a truly dirty cabin. One of the filthiest we've ever stayed at. Lower level was very cold, took more than a day to warm up, no dishwasher, much smaller than pictures show.
If cleanliness is no big deal to you, this cabin deserves three stars as it is on lake but overpriced.
If cleanliness is important, you will leave early, like we did. It wasn't just lack of cleaning, it has mold smells and so forth.
5.0 / 5.0
Our family loved everything about this lakefront cabin; the views are stunning, plenty of room to chill on two decks. We loved morning coffee on the dock, the sandy beach for badminton and bocce ball and evenings sitting around the firepit. Our adult children and their partners were in heaven. We rented a ski boat from Cheap Thrills and paddle boards from Home Town Sports. So much fun. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms and beds are super comfy, loved the master, which is perfect for watching the sun rise. Vicki & Robert and housekeeper were very responsive and easy to work with. We can't wait to come back next summer.
