About this house rental
This story of the Pimalai Lodge is identical to that of the Phoenix rising reborn from the ashes!
Our original Pimalai Lodge was an extremely popular, family vacation destination located more than 1000 feet above the Wears Valley floor and uniquely situated on the top of a mountain ridge (literally!!!) until an unfortunate fire destroyed the property on January 2, 2020. On the same location, the new Pimalai Lodge has been constructed, even larger than the original (now more than 5000 sqft), and with more amenities to make your vacation even more unforgettable. Be one of the first to stay in the recently re-constructed Pimalai Lodge! Have a larger party (30 persons) and need an indoor heated pool, please consider our sister property Celesta Vista
Lodge Vrbo 1572017.
The name "Pimalai" is derived from ancient Sanskrit, meaning, "a little patch of Heaven". True to its name, Pimalai Lodge is located at the edge of the Smoky Mountain National Park in Wear's Valley and isolated on the top of a ridge, offering 360 degree views. The property has been designed to afford the entire family a unique, and magical getaway.
For the kids, there is a remarkable 450 sqft fantasy bedroom appropriately named the "Hogwarts Dormitory". Situated above the entrance to Hogwarts Dormitory is a levitating Nimbus 2000 broomstick and the dormitory itself is modelled after its namesake made famous in the Harry Potter movie series. The dormitory’s medieval interior is complete with a Dormitory Common Room with fireplace, Hagrid’s Hut, and a separate sleeping chambers that contains four sets of bunkbeds individually adorned for each of the famous academic “Houses” (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw). Can’t decide which House you prefer – the sorting hat may be able to help you out!!
For the adults whom are ready to let their hair down and act like kids(!), Pimalai Lodge has both the “Fox and Hound Tavern”, and the “Mardi Gras Bar”. These two individual themed recreation areas are complete with wet bars, pool table, air hockey, darts, shuffleboard, foosball, 19 person VIP theatre, gas fireplaces, arcade, 55" Flat Screen TV’s, and poker table.
The Mardi Gras Bar is tastefully decorated and designed to whisk you away to Bourbon Street where you can "Laissez les bons temps rouler!" (Let the good times roll!!). The atmosphere is complete with outdoor street lanterns and a view into the adjacent jazz bar windows where the local musicians play their favourite tunes! The Fox and Hound Tavern reflects a traditional British pub style décor and will inspire you to say … Cheerio mate … fancy a chinwag and a pint?
However, the true uniqueness of Pimalai Lodge is found in the outdoor living space offered by the property, and the remarkable 360 degree views. The property includes more than 3000 sqft of finished outdoor living space consisting of expansive decks, a two story Gazebo inclusive of an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, and patio areas all which offer unparalleled views. This private, custom built, luxurious cabin will truly be the highlight of any visit to the Smoky Mountain National Park, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. No other cabin will come close in the 360 degree splendour this property offers. Decided to go green and own an electric vehicle? The property has its own Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station located on the property and available for our guests use.
The front of Pimalai Lodge features a large two story gazebo. The view from here extends to Wear's Valley below, while looking back at the foothills, Bluff Mountain, and Hatcher Mountain. The upper level of the gazebo has an outdoor kitchen featuring a gas grill, large counter tops and sink, and compact refrigerator. The area includes an outdoor dining table for 8 ideal for visiting with family and friends, or for entertaining outdoors. At night, the gas fireplace can be used to ward off the evening chill while you sit outside and socialize, or simply view the lights of the countryside below. The lower level of the Gazebo features a 7 person hot tub where you and your guests can relax after a long day of hiking or visiting Dollywood.
Walk around the deck to the opposite side of the lodge and sit and view the Smoky Mountain National Park range towering over you. Truly breath taking!

And of course, no Hogwarts style dormitory would be complete without a replica iron stove in this area for keeping warm, and most importantly, drying socks!!!! The Fox & Hound Tavern is located here, with refrigerator, dishwasher, and all the glassware needed for your own pub crawl. Other recreation on this level includes a full-sized pool table (or Billiards for our British friends), air hockey table, foosball, darts, shuffleboard (yes – darts and shuffleboard - it is a British Pub😊) an upright arcade game featuring 60 free play video games from yesteryear, sitting area with stone fireplace, and 55” flat screen TV. This was the perfect cabin for our group of 10 adults. The only thing that could have been better was a functional grill. Besides that this place is perfect.... We will be renting it again!

The cabin was beautiful. . We had 17 people and there was plenty of room for everyone.
The air conditioner wasn’t working on the main floor when we arrived. We text Scott and it was fixed that night. He was great about getting back to us.
Be careful on the drive up to the cabin. Very steep and curvy road!!!
Be bear aware! We saw bears everyday
6.0 / 10.0
The view is nice but we got there at check in and there was people who were still cleaning and they didn’t speak any English and we didn’t get in until almost 6 when we got there at 4.

We absolutely loved this place! The host, property manager and cleaning crew were so wonderful. We even left my daughter’s teddy bear on accident and they went above and beyond to mail it back to us-which meant the world to us.
Our family had a great time. There’s so much to do inside the cabin you could stay put and not even need to leave the entire time, but it’s a quick drive to Pigeon Forge if you want to get out and enjoy some of the attractions. It’s well stocked with anything you might need for your stay. The scenes were so incredible, we kept saying we felt like we were in a Bob Ross painting.
You are surrounded by beauty inside and outside of the cabin. We didn’t try out the hot tub because the weather was super hot, but I have to imagine the fall and winter hanging in the hot tub must be amazing!

This was our family's second time staying at this house, the first was before it burned down. I like the updated layout and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This property is AMAZING for a multi family vacation! There is so much space for everyone to have their own space and also great spaces for when we all want to hangout together! The kids had so much to do with the theater room and all of the games in addition to their own bunk room!
The views are amazing! The pool is a short drive away! We all loved the theater room! Highly recommended!!!!!

The house was fabulous. So many things to do for everyone. The only thing i would say as a caution, don’t try arrive after dark and don’t pull a trailer. The roads in the last several miles going to the beautiful top of the mountain, are super narrow and curves with verry sharp turns. We always pull a small trailer with our luggage and coolers and it was not fun to traverse the last miles of road. Also, the GPS took us to the wrong street behind the home instead of the actual street, so preview the overhead of your map program.

We had a wonderful time. The house was beautiful and the views even better. We had bear encounters almost every night we were there. The only complaint was the hot tub. It wasn't as clean as id expect it. Other than that, we'd definitely be up to visiting again.
8.0 / 10.0
We loved the location of the house! We have stayed at a few other "cabins" in the area and this is by far the BEST location for quick access to the park (we are more "park" people than tourist activities)! The Metcalf Bottoms is a quick 8 minute drive! There is a Dollar Store and a few fun general stores close by to visit for items and of course, ice cream! :) Wears Valley is a very sweet town away from the crazy big crowds.
Finding the house was a little tricky the first time...the way Google Maps took us was a little crazier than the way Apple maps lead us down the mountain (once we figured out this way it was much easier and less steep). After driving it a few times in daylight the drive was no issue!
The house itself had great amenities - fun game tables, the kids loved the Hogwarts bunk, the wrap around porch is like nothing else, we saw a mama bear and cubs climbing the trees on the property, the washer and dryer were really nice, rooms were good sized, many bathrooms, and nice gazebo on the porch.
The only reason I gave it a 4 and not a 5 overall rating is because there were some upkeep things that we would have loved to see fixed to enhance the stay (many broken and dirty pots/ pans, not many board games like post states, the grill is in poor shape, some rocking chairs on the porch were splintering, big pot hole in the driveway, and a few other things...), but overall the house was a lot of fun for our family!
We really enjoyed spending time at the property!

Million dollar views! Our group of all ages enjoyed this property w all of the game options. Theater room and amazing space with beautiful mountaintop views!

This property had the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. And they truly were visible from everywhere in the house. There was so much to do at the property and our grandchildren absolutely loved the Hogwart’s Dorm room.
We had two little bear cub visitors right outside on the deck. We did not see Mama Bear but I am sure she was nearby.
The kitchen is very well stocked and there was plenty of seating for all16 of us for meals.
The drive up is a little bit nerve wracking, but doable and there is ample parking.
We had a slight issue with a leak in the 3rd level shower coming into the 2nd level bedroom ceiling. We called the local caretaker and he was very responsive and came out that day to work on it, The check in and check out were so easy. My only complaint is we had to leave.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We noticed that we were missing towels for the hot tub and hockey table handles the night of check in, Scott sent someone the very next morning to provide those items for us. The cabin was clean and provided ample space for our party of 17. The game room, theatre room, and Harry Potter themed bunk room was a hit with all of the kids. The only three complaints were the awful egg smell of the water, inability to watch TV in most of the bedrooms because the remotes were mixed up throughout the cabin, and the ability to hear every little foot step coming from the top floor of the cabin all the way to the bottom floor. The views were amazing and the hosts were very accommodating. We were also able to have Kroger deliver to the cabin which was a plus after a long day of travel from Florida. Overall, we would recommend this cabin.

I took my youth group from church and we loved it! There was plenty of space and activities for everyone to enjoy. The only down side was the water smelled like sulfur, but the cabin has well water so they happens, and wasn’t a big deal. We will definitely be going back!

We were happy with the cabin. It has everything you could want. We had 18 people staying in the cabin and no one was crowded. Lots of room. The theater room is great. The separate bars were nice. The hot tub was great.

Property was very clean and ready for us when we arrived. There was plenty of room for everyone in our party. The views from the porches were spectacular! We had a bear pass through that all were able to watch from inside. The property is about 15 minutes away from attractions which was very convenient! Loved our stay and place and were thankful for the owners to share their property with us.

It was a beautiful home with an amazing view! The road up to the house was not for someone that is scared of heights, but the view made up for it. (We didn't drive it in the dark). There were a couple things that needed attention and Scott was great with contacting us right away. Paris was quick with her responses when we booked also. Over all it was a wonderful vacation!
10.0 / 10.0
First, the house is really up in the mountains. The drive up had me a little stressed but when we got there it was 1000x worth it! The wrap around deck gives amazing views no matter where you stand. We did have bears! Climbing on the deck and around the house. Lock your car doors! We told everyone in our group to get everything out of car and lock doors. One in our group forgot to lock doors and the bear got into her vehicle.
The kids (and adults) loved the game room. My favorite was the Harry Potter dormitory!!! The house was clean and kitchen was fully supplied. We spent most days in town but enjoyed cooking meals for breakfast and dinner.
We did have a bad storm while there and the power went out. My husband had heard me say no candles and he smartly had packed a lot of flashlights. The property manager communicated with us during this time but made for a very adventurous trip. We’d love to go back again another year.

This property is an amazing retreat for kids, teenagers, and adults! We had a few MINOR glitches and the property manager responded and remedied them so fast we could hardly remember we had an issue! we also had our elderly mom with us and needed an extra day and Paris was so kind enough to let us stay another night! I don't think we've ever stayed somewhere that was so hospitable, flexible, and inviting! Definitely worth it!

We never received a call telling us the Cabin was ready. So, I called the property manager. He didn't know we were even coming there. He said he never received info about our stay. I mean really, I paid for this almost 4 months in advance. He told me we could go on and go but the final cleaning had not been done yet. When we got there the floors will still dirty and counters had sticky stuff on them. In one of the bedrooms the bed wasn't made. He did send someone out that night to clean it up and they did. There was also some damage on the outside of brick wall on porch where I am assuming wind had gotten ahold of it. I sent him pictures and let him know about this as well. On the last night of our stay one of the couple's downstairs were sleeping and woke up to water pouring on their head. There was a leak in the vent. It came down pretty good at first but did start to slow down. We ended up taking mattress off the bedframe, so the bed didn't get ruined and putting a bowl under leak. I texted the manager that night when this happened but did not hear anything back. So, the next day I texted him to let him know we were gone and to make sure he received the message about leak, and he said he had. Overall, the cabin was as described, and we did enjoy ourselves. Just had a few kinks. I don't know if it was worth the price for the 5 days of staying there. Also, in contract it says we should get 1000.00 back if cabin is left in good condition and I have yet to see that money.

We loved our stay! Everything went smoothly. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub and singing karaoke upstairs. We made so many new memories with old friends.
The water smelled really bad, though. It was off putting. We had to use bottled water for most things because it smelled so strongly of sulfur.

I want to clarify about the house not being clean. The cleaner didn't clean appropriately. A group of teenager had been in the house right before our family. I talked with the property manager (Scott) about the condition of the house. He came up and brought gifts and also returned $400 of our cleaning fee. We vacuumed the house and wiped up the floors. I also had to clean the counters in the kitchen. None of this was the fault of the owners. They were very gracious and called us to apologize about the condition of the house. This house was a dream. It has an upstairs that kept our 11 grandchildren busy for hours. The movie theater was large enough for our whole family of 19. I can't sing the praises of the house enough. I would recommend this house as an awesome house to rent. I hope that the cleaner has been fired and a new cleaner has been hired. This has ended up being our favorite house for our family vacation. We have rented 4 or 5 house and this one was the best!!! Thank you Scott for all your help.

This home was amazing! First - the pictures do not do it justice! The moment we arrived, we were taken aback. Just beautiful!
There were 4 different families staying here at one time. The home has plenty of room to fit all of us, including having our own bedrooms and bathrooms.
We played poker. Watched movies in the theater room. Played endless amounts of air hockey and pool. The kids LOVED the Harry Potter room. Perfect bunk bed set up for all of them!
Property Management was responsive to my texts. We had overfilled the garbage and Raul made a special trip to clear out what we had. (Thank you!)
Additionally, we did have a bear visit us. It was quite the experience!
If we may suggest, upgrading the fridge to a larger one and installing a double oven, would make a difference. We had lots of people, so it was difficult to find room in both. We made it work though - definitely not a deal breaker!
Overall, we highly recommend this home and would stay there again!

Pimalai Lodge is such a lovely property in a beautiful location. The listing is spot on. The open concept of the kitchen was great for a large party. The amenities provided lots of entertainment for our teens and adults, party of 14. The layout was great for enjoying company or finding privacy if needed.
It is definitely best to arrive before dark. The twists and turns of the mountain roads can be a bit daunting. We only went out at night once and that was enough. The sunset views are gorgeous.
We did see the momma bear and 3 cubs a few times, just to be aware.
I would definitely recommend this property.

Views are fantastic. Bathroom set-up in relation to the bedrooms, was ideal. Could of used more outdoor chairs, 3 isn't enough. Drive up was a bit worrisome, but improved with each trip. Recommend this house to everyone!

This is a beautiful lodge with a magnificent view! We enjoyed a three night stay with extended family. There were 8 adults and 8 children (ages 4-10). We had plenty of room to spread out and it was a fun time for all. The children especially loved the Harry Potter dorm room and the theater room. It took about half an hour to get to Pigeon Forge. But, honestly - it would be a great place to go and just hangout and play games, watch movies, etc. without venturing into Dollywood, etc. Paris and Scott (the manager) was very helpful and responded quickly to anything we needed.

Excellent property
Very nice accommodations. The house was stocked very well with dishes and pots and pans. It had a coffee maker as well as a Keurig. Mid afternoon on two occasions we had a bear visitor walking around outside.
I do agree with other comments that it is best to arrive before dark the first day.
It would be nice to have more outdoor chairs. There were only 3 chairs at the table in the Gazebo by BBQ pit. The cabin does accommodate a lot of people therefore when outside there is not enough seating. It is absolutely beautiful to watch the sunset.
Great place to spend time with family!

Secluded, Spacious Serenity for all
The house was amazing with an open floor plan that still allowed for privacy when needed. The outside deck was a great gathering spot for outdoor grilling and wildlife watching. During adverse weather there was many activities indoors for all ages to pass he time. The theme of the home was a great change of pace! Location was nice, short drive to the national park to enjoy swimming in the river, short drive to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg alike. I would highly recommend this home as a vacation spot for all. Paris was an amazing host as well as her appointed property management staff! Swift to assist and help you feel right at home and address any concerns. My only real suggestion would be for better directions as we arrived late evening and had a time trying to find it in the dark (Not from the house not being illuminated, trying to find the street signs). After 2 days, we memorized the path. Its not bad once you initially locate it as its at the top! Great views!! Thank you Paris for having us, everyone who came has complimented the home and had nothing but great things to say! We hope to return at our earliest availability!

Amazing place to stay!
Our group of 3 families had an exceptional stay at the reconstructed Pimalai Lodge! The home has several well thought details that make it a memorable place for a vacation. Our family loves to cook and the kitchen had plenty of space for all of us to pitch in. There were even pitchers for drinks and containers to store leftovers. There is a Kroger Food Store on the main road nearby that we visited to stock up on groceries for the week. We always wonder if we need to buy or bring water, but tap water tasted very good. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. So much so, we have asked for the make and model so we can try to purchase. The scenery, wrap around porch, and shaded gazebo made for a perfect afternoon to enjoy the time off and just relax. There are two thermostats, so bedrooms upstairs and downstairs can have separate comfort settings. Bedroom ceiling fans also made the rooms even more accommodating. There are no hairdryers, so bring your own. The movie room is spectacular! Definitely plan for a family movie night. It has great sound and picture. We enjoyed our streaming services and BluRay player. A clever timer is used to turn on any of the 4 gas fireplaces. We had a couple cold nights and loved to use the fireplace in the outdoor kitchen as we grilled outdoors. There is a bluetooth speaker in the loft that allowed us to connect our phone for some music while cooking or fun party songs for the kids. This was a great touch! The game room was so well provided that we did not see the kids for hours and they jumped from game to game. This game room is so much better than most properties that just have a pool table. The property is centrally located to many of the attractions and secluded enough to feel you are far away from it all. Our Waze app got us right to the address, but the mountain roads at night can be confusing to navigate for the inexperienced city driver. The hills are not as steep as some places we have been to, but be sure to arrive in the day for an easier journey. It is well worth the trip. Both the property manager, Scott, and owner, Paris answered every question and need in a timely manner.
I highly recommend this property and we hope to come visit again someday.

Christmas 2021
My family and I found this awesome property, it was in a great location. It was in a fairly secluded area with great views. The cabin was just as it was advertised and was even better in person. We really enjoyed our stay.

I can’t review our stay since we had to cancel due to Covid. We were able to rebook our stay to 2021
Paris has been wonderful to work with in rebooking and rolling our pre paid total over to our new dates for 2021. We are very excited with our upcoming vacation in July of 2021.
