This was our second visit to this home and we loved it just as much as last time. The hosts were flexible and friendly. It's spacious with privacy for multiple guests, artfully decorated, and equipped with everything you need and want. It's a nice walk to the Old Port and a short drive from beaches. I truly enjoy the ability to grill on the deck with sofas overlooking a beautiful garden, and kitchen with lovely tableware and hope we get the chance to return.

My family and I stayed at this lovely home for our daughter’s wedding. It felt like home, from the beautiful backyard and throughout the house. The hosts were friendly, gracious, and prompt in their responses. Highly recommend!

We traveled to Portland with our parents and children. This was a beautiful space and we had plenty of room for all of our family There were 8 of us in our group. The room with the bunk bed was perfect for our kids. The house was so unique and we just loved looking at all of the decorations, books and various things around the house. Parking was not an issue for us. We parked around the corner at night and that was perfect. Thank you for sharing your space with us. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking.

This historic home was a crowd-pleaser for my family of 5. There was plenty of space for privacy, it was gorgeously and thoughtfully decorated (lots of design inspiration acquired!), and the best part was the deck equipped with a grill, comfortable sofas, and an umbrella. It was fun to pick tomatoes from the vegetable garden with my 2-year old, and the flowers were lovely. The master bath design and wallpaper were just how I’d like to design a bath. It was fun having a new library of children’s books for a week too. The space was perfect for relaxing at home, and a short walk from all Portland has to offer. The hosts were warm and communicative and I would happily stay here again given the chance.

Lovely townhome in West End, short, 10 minute walk to Tandem Bakery and on to downtown Portland. Location is excellent, on lovely street near impressive Victorian homes. This is a great area of Portland to stay in.

This beautiful house was home for our family (my husband and me; daughter, son-in-law, and two small children; and son) for a week. We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. Lovely garden out back, with bonus fresh vegetables and flowers! Walking distance to food shopping and a great coffee shop, as well as a weekly (Saturday) farmer's market. Only 15 minutes from the airport. Hosts were quick to respond to questions and easy to work with, and accommodated two changes we made with no problem.

This charming and functional home was perfect for our family vacation. The spacious home had everything we needed, including a well stocked kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and a gorgeous master bathroom. The outside deck and garden was a beautiful place to enjoy the Maine summer weather. The location was great, we walked to local restaurants and the Rosemont Bakery and Market and it is a short drive to Willard Beach. We look forward to going back!

From the get-go, Desi and Sean were super flexible about both check in (early) and the length of stay. I have been renting homes through a variety of services since 2003 and this sort of flexibility was a first. The house how-tos were clearly laid out on the VRBO website and in a binder on the kitchen counter. The guide listed lots and lots of information. There were also notes throughout the house referring to more instructions. These instructions were whimsical in nature and by no means -- don't do this--but more like if you want to enhance your time here please try it this way. The kitchen was equipped actually beyond measure. I cook and we had a our child's 22nd birthday "party of 7 " at the house. Initially we were going to host the event at my daughter's apartment a few blocks away but when I saw the kitchen and the patio space I then insisted that it be held at Thomas Street. Instead of cake, we had blueberry pie from Tandem! There are books everywhere so if the weather had not been so amenable I am sure we would have all cozied up to a nook and read the afternoon away. Every room is beautifully decorated, I have a house with all white walls but I loved all the color. The house was almost alive with happiness and warmth. Going to the Thomas Street house was like visiting a family member who was super cool and groovy. I actually don't have such a family member but now I know I can visit this house and pretend. My oldest daughter and niece thought the house wondrous and started speaking as if they lived there. The air conditioned bedrooms were comfy, well-appointed and cozy. The outside space reminded me of book that I read when I was young child called The Secret Garden. There was also a play space for children which looked so special but my youngest is 20 so we only admired the space. The house was more than we could have wished for and the owners were unusually communicative and helpful. As we shut the door behind us my husband uttered, "I would live here". Thank you again Desi and Sean for sharing your house.

The house was great for two families looking to stay together. Plenty of room to spread out, but also come together for meals or to hang out. Within close driving distance (1.5-2 miles) of restaurants, ice cream, shopping, kayaking, etc. There are a handful of restaurants and coffee places within walking distance, and we took advantage of one of them one evening. The house was clean, and host was very responsive. We appreciated the early check-in and easy check-in/out process. Parking was better than expected as we were able to park two cars on the street in front of house the entire time.
There is no ac on the first floor; fortunately the downstairs stayed fairly comfortable even when temps hit upper 80s. Window units on 2nd and 3rd levels keep the bedrooms cool. Be aware the mattresses on the two bunk beds are very thin. It was ok for our younger son, but not ideal for a longer stay with older kids. The owner did mention this might be a watch-out in advance, which I appreciated.
Overall a great house in safe, convenient location with a lot of charm. We had everything we needed for a fun trip to Portland!

This is a lovely house filled with light and color and all the welcome of a proper, comfortable family home, not just an anonymous rental. The owners were lovely to deal with and quick to get back to us on any questions we had while we were there as well as while we were booking, and left lots of useful recommendations and instructions at our arrival. Parking was never an issue, and the neighborhood leafy and peaceful yet still with enough local commerce (Tandem Bakery especially) when we did not feel like walking into downtown Portland (about a half hour level walk to the Old Port, though there's plenty on and around Congress Street closer to home). The Saturday farmers' market in Deering Park was a short walk away and well worth a visit- a great opportunity to meet the local growers and return home with armfuls of corn, tomatoes, peaches and blueberries. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, the beds were comfy (and we sure did need those cooling units during the heatwave), and the deck and garden outside the kitchen was a great place to have meals- I even loved the little nook at the end of the garden where I could take my coffee and still get a good wifi signal! Because there's so much personal stuff in the house I would hope that every guest would treat that with the appropriate respect- I think it's what makes the house feel so warm and alive.I have nothing but good things to say about our stay here, and we hope to return again, when it will feel like coming home! Thanks Desi and Sean xxx

This spacious, well-equipped home was an ideal base to discover Portland and the surrounding area. It is located in a friendly, but quiet and safe neighborhood yet still very close to many amenities, restaurants and other venues. We were able to walk or bike to just about everything. The home is very well furnished and, as avid cooks and reading enthusiasts, we enjoyed the kitchen, ample cooking/baking equipment, books and reading areas. Fantastic place for our family of 6 to enjoy our first vacation in Portland!

We really enjoyed our week in Portland. The home was perfect and it was in a great location. We walked everywhere in town. Homeowners provided a great list of places to eat and all were great. We loved spending time inside and outside of the home. Beautiful yard. We would stay in this house again for sure and we definitely need more time in Portland. Thank you, Sean and Desi.

This was our first time renting a house, and I feel like we may be spoiled by how wonderful the house was.
The house is wonderfully whimsical, with all the charm of an old house but with all the modern amenities. The neighborhood was quiet and safe for walking at any hour. We stayed in August, and thankfully the bedrooms had small A/C units that made sleeping comfortable for all. We had one car, and parking was a breeze, but I understand that it could be a little tighter in the fall through spring. But really if you want to just explore Portland (about a 5 minute drive to downtown), you could Uber around easily, and save on rentals. The back deck was a favorite, as we had many a meal al fresco, overlooking the cozy back garden. The owners were attentive if we needed anything. Really just a perfect place!

The home is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and clean. The neighborhood is a perfect spot from which to explore the City - almost anything is within a 20-minute walk, and the owners left a list of lovely spots to visit. The owners were flexible and accommodating, and we really enjoyed our stay.

We rent houses, mostly off of vrbo, approximately 5-7 times a year, and this house has been the best we have ever rented, ever.
Our entire family (parents and 4 children) loved this house. It is spacious - and although many are, the differentiation is that this house is both spacious and well thought out. It is clear that people who love it have furnished it and live in it. The decor is such that I took many photographs of it as inspiration for when we get around to redecorating our own house. (Kitchen is the most pleasant and inspirational I have ever seen.) Bedding is cozy and restful. Details are thoughtful - everything, from the books on the bookshelves to the pictures hanging on the walls. We felt like we were being welcomed as loved houseguests, rather than merely weekend renters. They left fresh blueberries and farm eggs for us in the fridge and tipped us off to a Saturday morning farmer's market the next day!
The neighborhood is wonderful and quiet, though walkable at <10 minutes (with children) to the district with all the good restaurants. Parking was not an issue, though I had worried about this -- on the quiet street in front, you have up to 2 hr parking after 9am, which is perfectly fine if you are a tourist planning on touring! - or you can park 100 feet away around the corner for no charge and no trouble.
Their caretaker (Brendan) left us a note + fresh blueberries and farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator. This place is wonderful. We loved everything about it.

We stayed a week here and absolutely loved it. The house is gorgeously furnished and decorated, and we ended up spending lots of time just hanging out there. The kitchen (which also has an informal TV watching space, plus great collection of DVDs) is really sunny and a lovely space to pass daytimes and evenings in. There's a really nice garden with a very sunny deck and a grill. All bedrooms really nice and very comfortable. The first floor study is a lovely room in which to read. If you have small kids, there's a wonderful and well-stocked playroom, which our 4 year old adored. The neighborhood is quiet and leafy, with a great green space five minutes' walk away. There are some great shops and cafes within walking distance, and downtown Portland is also close enough to walk to. Overall, the week we spent here was the best bit of the best vacation we can remember, and we'd recommend it to anyone. We hope to be back another time!
