About this house rental
Located at the point of a 100 foot wide gated private island, the house was built in 1986 and, as the name implies and the pictures show, is shaped like a pyramid. No where else in the State of South Carolina is there available for rent a home with the surroundings, privacy and the unspoiled view afforded by Pyramid Pointe. You will need binoculars to see any other home or person from the interior, decks or porch. No one will walk or drive by. During the busiest season you will share 2 miles of beach with 30 people and the rest of the year, often, with no one.
The home is four stories in height from ground level. It was nestled into the natural environment without cutting any trees and built over a pre civil war cistern. There are 3 bedrooms. The MBR and a full bath occupy the entire top level and is furnished with a king bed. A small deck faces the ocean.
The third level has two bedrooms, each with their own full bath One bedroom has a deck facing the ocean and a king bed, the other has two full beds and a third in the closet.
There is a queen sleeper sofa in the TV area on the main level. A Large deck is accessed from the sitting area and faces the ocean. There is a full bath on the first level, a medium kitchen and a large dining area. A 35 foot covered porch overlooks the Creek and the entire front of the house is glass, facing the ocean. Screens on the porch and decks are not necessary because the bugs don't come there, the height and full time breeze keep them away.
The entry and foyer are paved with bricks harvested from the beach over the years from the homes of the Edingsville settlement destroyed by a hurricane in the 1800’s. You will see a map of the island as it existed at that time as you climb the stairs to the second living level. From the entryway level you can see up the stairwell all the way to the fourth floor.
The first level contains the TV sitting area (42” plasma) , the den and a spacious dining room which is separated from the kitchen by a long bar. The bar and dining room table were made from lumber scavenged also from the old Edingsville settlement. The mantle, side table and coffee table are made from driftwood taken from the beach. The covered porch is accessed from the dining room and faces north towards the creek and Frampton inlet.
The covered porch has a hanging swing and two rocking chairs as well as a built in dining table and chairs. A cable rail system is used to minimize disruption of the view.
The home has over 600 square feet of windows, almost all facing the ocean. It is constructed of cedar, inside and out. The furnishings are functional, not fancy. It is a beach house designed and furnished for relaxing and carefree use, not a home where you have to shower before sitting down.
An infrared grill and indoor fryer are provided and the kitchen has all normal appliances and conveniences.
It is 3 flights of stairs from the entry door to the master bedroom, 2 to the second floor bedrooms and 1 to the main living level (as with all houses on Edisto). There is a widow’s walk on the roof which is presently unavailable to first time guests.
No long walkway is needed as the dock is 30 feet from the porch. The front of the house is less than 5 feet from the marsh (the decks overhang it) and the porch side about 20 feet. Dolphins are often first spotted by someone washing dishes in the kitchen.
A washer and dryer are in the mechanical room on ground level.
Satellite TV is available downstairs and in the MBR. Each TV has a DVD player. There are no video game machines. Wireless broadband Internet is provided but we are at the “end of the line” and service can be sporadic. There is no land line phone service but At&T and Sprint service is very good and Verizon is tolerable.
This is a traditional "low country" beach house. A beach house, not a home, just a place to stay so you can be in a place where no one else is. It is an architecturally unique, pleasant, comfortable and relaxing home designed to allow maximum enjoyment of the surroundings. You go to a place like this to be outdoors, not in. If you are expecting a home nicer than, or even as nice, as your own then this home will not be suitable for you. It was located here as a means to an end, not the destination itself. The home provides a place from which you can enjoy privacy, nature and the beauty of the natural surroundings. It is not intended to be, nor is it, at all like a beach house in a row of beach houses with manicured lawns lined up in a development. If you love the outdoors, peace and privacy and are willing to give up some comfort to get them, this home will be perfect for you.
Edingsville is technically an island contained within Edisto Island. Edisto has retained the laid back charm that all of the South Carolina beaches once enjoyed. The lack of large scale commercial development, McDonalds, Burger Kings and Wal-Mart’s sets Edisto apart from all other beach resorts in South Carolina
There is a two mile undeveloped beach seen from every part of the house. It is an easy walk or bike ride of approximately 1/2 mile to the beach along private gated roads. If you rented or brought your own kayaks/canoes it is just a couple hundred yards to a beach where you will likely find yourself the only one there.
The house is surrounded 320 degrees by marsh and tidal creeks. Wildlife abounds here. Egrets, gulls, and fiddler crabs are the most obvious but many more fish, crabs and exotic creatures thrive here. It is the “nursery” of the ocean where young are bred and mature before setting out to sea.
THE BOTTOM LINE. If you are looking for a beautiful home surrounded by other beautiful homes within walking distance of a beach full of other people, then rent a home at Kiawah. If you are looking for a place to stay so you can be in a beautiful place, then this home will serve your needs nicely.

Overall this is a magically peaceful place. Description is accurate. We loved the dolphins in the creek, the views, all the types of shore birds and Pelicans. We even saw sea turtles in the ocean! We paddled to Botany Bay on our paddle boards. The nature is unbeatable. The house was clean, but there were rodents living in the walls/ceiling that would run around and wake us up at night. There was also a strong rodent smell that did seem to get better or we got used to it over time. The AC did not work on the top king-bed bedroom, which we did not need. But if you are planning on using that in the summer you may want to ask about it first. One bathroom has been newly renovated and was our preferred bathroom to use. Otherwise the beauty of the place makes up for the downsides. Also a tip- the ocean has a lot of old oyster beds and some mud in this area. Solid water shoes or old tennis shoes would be good for ocean swimming. Overall if you love nature and solitude this place is wonderful at least once in your life.

The location of this house is fantastic. You simply cannot find better views anywhere. The owner does a great job of explaining everything about the house and covering every possible question in advance so there are no surprises. We will definitely be back!

Property was exactly as described. Spectacular views all around. Kids loved kayaking and crabbing. We plan on making this trip a couple times a year. Everyone loved their stay.

We loved our time at Pyramid Pointe so much! The house itself is so interesting -with surprising twists and turns. We loved the bricks used for the entry from the old Edingsville settlement. The views of the ocean and the marsh are nothing short of majestic. We gave ourselves over to the tides and watched the sunrises and moonrises, dolphins swimming by, bald eagles perching in the trees by the house. We found gorgeous shells and sandollars and slept to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach. Our hearts are restored and we cannot wait to return!!

Magnificent & unique setting in Cowpens surrounded by the natural beauty of the marsh & the ocean. We enjoyed amazing sunsets & moon/sun rises from the covered deck. Bird watching was great with Bald Eagles & Wood Storks hanging out in the treetops.
The house is as described(rustic, low country) and could use a deep clean & repairs/ maintenance. The house was furnished nicely & beds were comfortable. One shower was damaged & unusable. Water pressure was variable. As described, this is not a luxurious home, but a very memorable getaway if you appreciate nature. Kayaks were available for use.

I booked this house for a guys fishing trip weekend. It did not disappoint. The location of this house is fantastic for fishing whether you want to fish from the dock, boat around in the creeks, or go out to the surf. The house was not the cleanest and it could use some updates and repairs in some areas, but it’s an old marsh house so what can you expect. It didn’t bother us at all. The architecture of this house is pretty wild too, lots of odd little details went into building this place. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you like amazing views and fishing.

Summarization of the properties strength and weaknesses was accurate. I would say rustic, my wife would say dirty-we all have individual expectations. My two boys 7 and 12 could care less and enjoyed beach time, dock time and lots of wildlife.
Communication from the owner was excellent. Boat battery didn’t work but the kayaks where used extensively.
My kids took home approx 1 million shells and we all loved the location. I don’t know how this home can be saved or restored but happy to have made good family memories

We loved our stay at Pyramid Point. The kitchen is stocked with everything we needed. The location is amazing, with views unparalleled. Sunrises are an absolute must see from the back porch. If you are looking for a location where you can immerse yourself in nature, and forget about your worries, Hands down - this place fits the bill. The owner is spot on in his description of the property, so take your time to thoroughly read the listing. In our 20+ years of vacationing in South Carolina, this has been our favorite spot, so far. Thanks Randall.

The owner did a fine job of painting an accurate picture of what we could expect. If you like more of an authentic/rustic accommodation with privacy, quiet, and beautiful views, then this is the spot! We counted 48 species of birds within walking distance of the house, but many of them were seen just sitting on the large porch. Paddling the tidal river from the house was terrific and the beach was deserted except for the turtle patrols, which was pretty neat. We all had a great visit and would definitely go back!

Pyramid Point is at a FANTASTIC location!! The views are beautiful and the fishing and crabbing are great! You can tell the house has been enjoyed by many throughout the years. If you’re looking for an immaculate, luxurious home, look elsewhere. But, if you aren’t worried about cleanliness and just want a place to sleep while you spend your time in the beautiful outdoors this is your spot!

The location is the best in Edisto.
The house needs numerous repairs and better cleaning supply’s . The vacuum was horrible no suction after cleaning it out and all.
The sinks held water and one shower stall was taped with a bag to help hide damage ( which we were told ) but the shower is leaking on to the porch below so bad we could not use the shower or walk in that area below. Floors below at that spot are soft .
AC quit and the owner had someone out that day to fix and was repaired promptly. Very thankful for that.
We had a wonderful time regardless of the house conditions .
Sadly we will not rent again .

This property is a perfect haven for nature lovers, set apart from neighbors at the end of a sandy road, surrounded by grassland, with birdsong and the crash of surf on the barrier beach the only sounds. We delighted in the squadrons of pelicans that passed overhead and the dolphins that cruised up and down the tidal river past the dock. There were more than enough kayaks/paddle boards for our party to explore the estuary and reach the beach. Hiking trails at Edisto Beach State Park and Botany Bay are just minutes away.
The house itself is a fascinating piece of architecture, with expansive views from the decks across the marsh and out to the open ocean. Visitors must be aware that this exposure has taken a toll on the building, with water damage to all the ceilings and windows obscured by sun and salt. Unfortunately no one had cleaned prior to our arrival (including the prior tenants) so we encountered the amazing amounts of sand that are inevitably tracked in. I recommend taking shoes off at the threshold and going barefoot if possible. The landlord was very apologetic about the cleaning snafu and was responsive to our distress.

This was truly one of the best vacations we’ve ever taken. We woke each morning to the sun rising through the oversized windows in the 4th floor bedroom and fell asleep to the moon rise. We happened to be there for the full moon and it was, hands down, the most breathtaking experience watching it rise over the ocean and marsh.
The house is private and nestled in a quaint low country community. We took long walks each morning down to the beach and rarely saw another soul. We spent all day on the beach reading and soaking up the sun and felt as if we had it all to ourselves.
We sipped coffee from the dock each morning, watching the sunrise and listening to the bird song (no better destination to watch a sunrise). We fished our little hearts out and caught red fish in the creeks and flats, saw dolphins and bird galore, and enjoyed sunset meals from the porch.
The bed was comfy. The shower has good pressure. The kitchen is clean. The furniture is comfortable. The views are spectacular. The privacy, peace, and quiet are unmatched. The beaches are stunning. The fishing is plentiful. The nature is abundant and diverse.
If you want to disconnect, be with nature, and have a private, unique, comfortable accommodation while you are at it… this is the place for you. Book the trip. You won’t regret it!

My family had a wonderful stay at Pyramid point - It was just the kind of place we wanted, although it wouldn’t suit everyone. Read the owner’s description of the property before booking it. It describes the place well and you can decide If it’s what you are looking for.

This property is unmatched for its location and being surrounded by nature. The house definitely needs some TLC! Unfortunately your first impression when walking in is it’s filthy which definitely is the case of the entry. The remainder of the house is actually very clean. But first impressions can mean a lot. Saying that we would definitely come back to this place as it would be very difficult to match its setting and constant views.

The house really needs to be updated. In one of the bathrooms, tile was missing in the shower and where the tile was missing was rotten wood. The freezer Has black ics cubes (Weird) The palms need to be cut back you can't help but hit limbs going in and out of the drive. My wife swept the floor as soon as we got settled. She was going to use the vacuum cleaner but the rollers were nasty. All of the exterior door handles need to be replaced. They are very hard to look especially the main door. There was trash in the first trash can you come up to outside not bagged. When we were leaving, two guys drove up to collect the trash. We gave them the trash we accumulated. We didn't put any trash in the outside cans.
Overall it a cool house with great views. We hope to stay there again when it's warm and we can use the boat. I also. hope that updates will be done and the bathroom wall fixed.

This place is a true tree house. Rustic and rugged. Be sure to bring all your camping supplies: water, linens, blankets, pillows, towels, soap and shampoo etc.....
Unpack and retire to the porches with your beverages and hot boiled shrimp. Enjoy all the nature all around, while taking in the OUTSTANDING VIEW!!

We chose Pyramid Point to get away from the crowds and to fellowship as friends and family. We were not disappointed.
We fished most of the time. We caught red drum of the dock. We were able to cast for bait, tell our dumb stories as we enjoyed the beauty of dolphins feeding, followed by epic sunsets. All the wile the roaring power of distant waves breaking along the beach completed the relaxation senses.
If you love the outdoors and being part of nature this is for you.

Best and worst
This was a very strange experience for us I just want to say even with the issues we had I would be crazy enough to stay again just not when its such an expensive week. We enjoyed the kayaks and taking the boat to the beach we even caught several crabs at the dock. The owner mentioned it being more of a glamping experience but thats a stretch. The view is unbelievable the house is a mix of disgusting and unique. The house hasn't been professionally cleaned in decades there were flea bites on all of us and several raccoon families living in the ceiling spaces especially the top floor I personally made eyecontact with one . We couldn't sleep up they're from the heavy smell of scat and the WWE event the raccoons held every evening. My husband and I ended up sleeping on the couches. The overview and directions we received from the owner stated the pets MUST have flea prevention, well they do so the fleas attacked us instead. The dryer had a broken timer so it ran for a dangerously long time before we realized. Aside from those negative experiences we all had the best time. You couldn't ask for a better location I would just ask that the raccoons be removed and perhaps the fleas.

2022 Beach Trip
Very impressed with the privacy and the views of the marsh and the beach. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and relaxing especially in the afternoon/evening with a nice breeze. The view across the marsh in unobstructed by other houses or structures. Easy access to the main Edisto Beach area and everything it has to offer. Would definitely consider this property for our next trip to Edisto!

Recent stay at Pyramid Pointe - Edisto Island, SC May 22 - May 27, 2022
Pyramid Pointe was exactly what we hoped it would be after reading the property description. Total privacy and incredible views from everywhere in the house. My wife and I loved the architecture of the house. It was truly different and rustic, but certainly offered plenty of room for multiple quests. We spent most of our time sitting on the back deck watching the creek which was right below us. Saw several porpoises in the creek everyday and could look at the beach at the same time without ever moving. We definitely plan on visiting this property again.

Beautiful Views
We went in knowing of the other reviews and complaints. I will have to say we did not have any issues while staying here. I would go back.....you could not ask for better views and accessibility to the ocean. I saw so much wildlife. I loved sitting on the floating dock to watch birds, fish, and the dolphins. I was so excited to see the dolphins. I would agree with others that this house could stand at least a deep professional clean at least 1-2 times a year. This would just make the living space less dirty looking. Yes there are raccoons we saw 1 and heard them, but they seemed to go out in the evening and all was quiet again. They did not bother us what so ever. We had the best time and felt like this house had the most ideal spot of all the houses there... We visited Charleston one of the days we were there and it was so much fun and great food. Also if you love shell collecting Edisto Island is the place to go. There are so many seashells....my mom even found a whole sandollar....such a lucky find. We really enjoyed our stay!

Private, awesome view, very rustic house
We read the info and other reviews and knew what we were getting into. We went for the environment, privacy and view and we were not disappointed. The view was awesome and we loved the kayaks to the beach. The house, however, needs a lot of work, and there were raccoons or squirrels in the rafters making noise every night (they couldn’t get into the actual house) so we slept on the first level couches night 2 and 3. If you don’t mind that, it was great. The sunrises were beautiful. Lived on the deck rocking chairs and porch swing. Very private, 15-20 min walk to beach.

Natural paradise
This property is truly a natural paradise. We were immediately regretful that we didn’t rent at least two weeks here. The house itself is a architectural marvel but it’s the verdant, pristine surroundings that make this a paradise. The homeowner accentuates in the property description that this is not a place for people who expect or are used to posh, resort like conditions and this is absolutely true. The house is truly part of the surrounding, natural elements meaning you are also a part of those elements and should expect to have to pay attention to things like tidal currents and up-close experiences with the wild creatures that live there. The house itself is comfortable, spacious and has unbelievable views. We did our grocery shopping in town for the week and didn’t have to leave again. We woke up everyday with the beautiful sunrise, my husband had a pleasant run every morning and we walked for miles on the beaches. It was completely restorative. Needless to say, we would absolutely love to stay here again.

Beautiful outdoors
Like camping. I knew from review it wasnt going to be as clean as I would like but the kids thought it was fun and the views and setting were wonderful. It is filthy and needs a deep clean and many repairs. Nevertheless we had a good time.

Wonderful one of a kind.
We stayed for New Year with our four teenage kids and dogs. The place is a fantastic adventure, exactly how we wanted to spend time with our kids who, like most teens spend their time on social media, gaming and meeting their scheduled responsibilities. Like one reviewer said, do not come here if you want a sparklingly clean stay in one of “those beach houses”. You come here for complete relaxation and appreciation of nature. Kayaks, paddle boards and a boat included, (safety gear too). A private dock and garden. Comfortable beds. Outstanding views of the marsh and ocean beyond. TV with fire stick for when everyone is tired after a day spent well outside. We absolutely loved our stay, every one of us. Already planning a birthday trip back there.

November at the Point
Had a great stay and enjoyed the quiet of the point. The birdlife is just amazing and the marsh at sunset just glows. This spot is for people who like to be outdoors but we did manage to watch all 3 seasons of Broadchurch on the comfy new couch.

Would highly recommend this house for the outdoor/adventurous/active types. We got exactly what we were looking for in a vacation with this property. Biking, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, etc! Truly a one of a kind house offering the most amazing views and has a homely relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be looking to rent this location again after our time there!

Oh, what could have been...
How do I rate this property? The location was great! The views were over-the-top fabulous! We saw bald eagles, egrets, herons, and dolphins right from the porch!
But..... this property only gets 2 stars and it's sad because it doesn't have to be this way. The description says "rustic" and I have no problem with rustic. But this property wasn't rustic---rather, it shows years of deferred maintenance and outright neglect. This was once a great house and it's set up really well. As mentioned before, the views from every room truly are spectacular.
I won't give a litany of complaints- you can get that from other reviews. What was over the top was the raccoons getting into the house (master bedroom closet) from the roof. This really needs to be dealt with as raccoons are very destructive. We could not sleep in that room because of this. (Everyone in every other room was awakened by the raccoons as well).
Potential renters should note that they need to bring their own linens---sheets, towels, washcloths. Nothing is provided. This is not in the description, but is disclosed prior to arrival. Also be sure to bring your own drinking water. The water there is undrinkable, even just to brush your teeth. (also disclosed prior to arrival but is not in the description).
What I'd like to say to the owner (we called him but he never returned our calls):
These are the things I highly recommend you do in order to get better reviews:
1. Take care of the wildlife problem. You house is getting overrun.
2. Go through your house and do repairs and maintenance.
3. Get a better water filtration system.
4. Hire a new cleaning crew.
You would start getting 5 star reviews if you did these things. I hope you take these suggestions in the spirit they are given--I'm not trying to be mean and I wish you the best of luck. Your property is something special. You should treat it that way.

Unbelievable location, unsat house
Stunning location, great dock, awesome sunrises! House is in much worse condition than advertised, and cute descriptions about it being a “beach house” are misleading. We encountered raccoon infestation with overwhelming stench, and mice. The king bed on the top floor was unusable due to the raccoon issues. One would expect palmetto bugs, and they are there but no big deal. Appliances in really rough shape. Dishwasher has badly rusted racks but somehow turned on. Huge spider webs around windows and in ceiling. Could be cleaned, but are not. Water is essentially salt water. The showers work poorly. Water leaks onto the porch when the 2nd story shower is used, so a large water leak.
Not saying not to stay at this location. Just adjust expectations from the house way, way down. Perhaps one of the best pieces of property on the island, cool features using reclaimed wood and old bricks, crazy architecture, and sunrise views that are unbeatable.
Last, there is an expectation that a secluded beach is a short walk away. It can be seen, but we could not find a way past the Jeremy Cay coded gate. We did not see a way to access the beach, and Jeremy Cay signage makes it clear that the property is private.

Another Wonderful vacation at Pyramid Point!
This was our 2nd time staying at this unique home. The views were spectacular, especially with the Full moon! The charm of the home, the local history of the Cowpens area, and views as far as you can see are what makes this home such a treasure! If seclusion from the world is what you're looking for, this is the perfect spot!!

Perfect Getaway
This unique house has it all. Incredible open views of the salt marsh and ocean felt very private. The sunrise is the perfect alarm clock reminder to get out on the kayaks. The large covered porch and dock draw you away from the indoors.
We had a great time and stayed busy.
I would recommend this house to anyone comfortable with the lowcountry outdoor life.

So much fun!
Incredible views. Short kayak, boat or bike ride to almost private beach. Great shelling. Great seafood nearby. This was our second visit to this house. If you’re looking for a pristine, elegant condo this is not for you. If you want privacy and quiet in a beautiful setting this is perfect. We will definitely be back for a third visit!

Great area and great amenities
We enjoyed the area and immediate properly immensely comes with lots of amenities and an extremely beautiful area! However the harsh Beach life has weathered the property severely and it needs some TLC!
