The house is located only 50 minutes drive from Reykjavik in a quiet area on Álftavatn lake with a breathtaking view off the surrounding mountains and the lake and a black sand beach. The house: 170 sqm. Accommodates 8-12 people

This house was great for our multi-generation family trip (2-85 years). It was large enough that everyone had their space while still being together. The kids loved the lakeside beach while the adults enjoyed the hot tub. The host was easy to communicate with and had everything we needed. Would stay here again.

Excellent property view amazing views. Quiet location with easy access to town. The property has absolutely everything you need. The jacuzzi and sauna are amazing and the kids enjoyed the canoes. I would go back in a heartbeat. Don't hesitate to book, you won't regret it.

The photos of this property do not lie. This place is just absolutely incredible with something for everyone. You could stay your entire trip and never leave the property, or explore all the conveniently located sights and return to relax by the fire, sauna and hot tub. Cook a gourmet meal in the well-appointed kitchen or explore the lake in a kayak. Signy was always quick to respond to all our questions and requests. She is a very gracious host. RENT THIS PROPERTY and never regret it. It is worth every penny. We hope to return again soon! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE AND MEMORABLE STAY. I can’t thank our hosts enough!

We loved this property - spectacular views and amenities. The property is very well managed and clean. The location is fantastic - near so many incredible sites. We received excellent referrals on places to eat and visit. We also had a great catered meal at the house - delicious! We would absolutely return to this beautiful spot.

Overall we all very much enjoyed our stay at the lakeside villa. The home was clean, comfortable (although warm) and very well-equipped with amenities. Perhaps it is because we are Americans, but we really struggled with the locks at this home until we figured out the trick. There is also a washer and dryer in the unit but the washer had to be unplugged and replugged in up to 5 times before it would work. It also takes 2 hours for an average size load. However, those were absolutely minor annoyances compared to the amazing views, infinity hot tub and well appointed rooms. Thank you for letting this group of 4 couples stay in your fantastic home. It was the perfect home base for the golden circle and south coast and an easy drive to Keflavik airport when we had to grudgingly head home. Because of the geothermal heating the house was rather room, so keep that in mind when you are packing.

This property is top notch. Easy access from busy Sellfoss, yet quiet and so relaxing! Plenty of room to cook and dine together with all amenities! We wish we had booked our stay for longer just to be able to enjoy the lake and peaceful surroundings!!

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend with 3 other couples; the house exceeded our expectations! You cannot beat the convenient and beautiful location of the lake house. The lake is picturesque and doubles as a cold tip! The hot tub, deck and outdoor fire place were perfect for relaxing after a day spent exploring. The house was well stocked with extra towels, bathrobes and even slippers! The kitchen was stocked with everything you need to make your stay feel like home. This is a place my family and I would love to stay at again!

It's great for 2 couples except that either it didn't state or I didn't read it clearly, but the full bath for the 2 guest rooms requires you to go outside to reach it. There is a toilet and sink in the one guest room but no shower unless you use the outdoor bathroom. The master has a full bath next to it.
Other than that, we loved the location as it was close to restaurants and stores as well as to our hiking excursions. The hot tub was the best thing ever after a long day of hiking.
Would definitely come back in the summer when we can take advantage of more of the outdoor space, fire pit, lake, etc.
The house is lovely and we were sad to leave.

Beautiful and Amazing Home
Our family of 5 stayed in this beautiful lakefront home for 3 nights and we all wish we could have stayed much longer. Everything was exactly as promised, the home is extremely well stocked with everything you may need for your stay, the rooms are spacious, and the views of the lake from the wide back porch are amazing. The four bedrooms are all great - including the fun guest house just next to the incredible hot tub. Finally we can’t thank Signy enough for her hospitality and responsiveness at every step of the way. If we could give 6 stars we certainly would,
and if we’re fortunate enough to return to Iceland we will certainly stay here again.

Our six night stay included Christmas and a beautiful snowfall on Christmas eve. What a wonderful place to spend the holiday! We arrived on the solstice and were welcomed by a beautiful sunset, a bevy of swans, and our gracious host, Signy. Overall, we had amazing weather for December and made it out to visit locations in southern Iceland almost every day, including driving east about four hours to Jökulsárlón. We had hoped for a dazzling aurora borealis, but since we didn't see one, we'll cross our fingers for next time. The kitchen was well equipped, the bedrooms were very comfortable, and other amenities were all top notch. The hot tub was delightful and wonderful to soak in after hiking around beautiful Iceland. Spectacular property in an ideal location
We stayed five nights at this incredible property and it exceeded all our expectations! The house was just perfect for our party of five adults and one child; we had plenty of space and privacy but loved having a large, open communal area to gather, eat, and relax. Of course a big highlight was the hot tub! We used it each night to recover from our active days of exploring the wonders of Iceland. Even when the weather was cold and windy, we were well-equipped by the owners with plush bathrobes and towels which made the hot tub experience even better. The views are just as depicted in the photos, but even better since you see all kinds of weather and light changes from the house. The lake water is quite frigid so we only dipped our toes in but having that expanse of water to gaze at each day was still worth it. There are many magical touches in the forest around the home, which I will let others discover for themselves. The beds are very comfortable and the house had every amenity we needed for cooking as well as high-end bath products so no need to carry your own from home. The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle -- the driving is easy and the many landscapes are almost beyond imagination. We were terribly sad to leave this enchanting home and hope we can return again before long!

Spectacular property
We are a family of 6, (kids are 10, 14, 15 and 18). This was our first visit to Iceland.. We absolutely loved our stay at this villa. There was plenty of room for us all, the kitchen had everything you would need for meal preparation. The house was immaculate. The hot tub was out of this world!
It was a great location, we did day trips to the Blue Lagoon, to Vik and to many hikes around the villa! The Kerid Crater is only a few minute drive from the villa!

The house itself was so private, comfortable and well appointed it made for a wonderful respite from the sightseeing. In the end, the lake house was an attraction itself, allowing us to sample the best of Iceland living from soaking in the hot tub to kayaking on the lake among the frolicking Artic Terns.

The house itself was so private, comfortable and well appointed it made for a wonderful respite from the sightseeing. In the end, the lake house was an attraction itself, allowing us to sample the best of Iceland living from soaking in the hot tub to kayaking on the lake among the frolicking Artic Terns.

A Mid-Summer Dream Home
We have utilized VRBO on a number of vacations. This is the first where the property was better than the photos. This is a fantastic home we shared with two other couples and it was perfect for our summer vacation. Close to Selfoss and the markets as well as the "Golden Circle." We may have to return for winter to see the Norther Lights. The geothermic pool is fantastic and the lake and beautiful.
We'd definitely do this trip again.

Great location and beautiful property!
We stayed at this lovely house with 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids). The house was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The host, Signy, even let us check in early and had a wonderful breakfast ready for us when we arrived. We absolutely loved spending time in the hot tub and even got a glimpse of the northern lights one night. This location is great for short day trips to places like the lava cave, black sand beach, Skogafoss waterfall, blue lagoon, etc. I highly recommend this property!!

Northern Lights Lakehouse
The Lakehouse Villa was the perfect place for our adventures in the golden circle and the city. Signey was very responsive and always communicated with us to make us feel at home. The Villa was clean and modern, we were blown away with the views of the lake and mountains. One night we came back from a Northern lights tour empty handed, but upon our arrival back at the lake house, the sky was lit up with the Northern lights! Beautiful villa, beautiful country of Iceland, highly recommend the villa!

Wonderful location and view
Our family had a wonderful time in this house. Loved the heated floor and towel warmers in the bathrooms. We saw the northern lights and one morning had snow on the trees and mountains which made for a picture perfect day. I would recommend this home to anyone who is traveling to Iceland.

This home is really something special. Beautiful setting on the lake, beautiful house.
Our family of 7 had a wonderful 4 days here. Signý, the owner, was very responsive. She met us at the house at check in to give us a tour (and an aperitif). The setting is breathtaking. The house itself is decorated beautifully and very nicely appointed. We had everything we could possibly need. Our group used the kayaks to explore the (very shallow, very safe) lake, cooked on the gas grill, and spent lots of time in the infinity hot tub. I wish we didn’t have to leave.
Convenient to the Golden circle, easy to find off the ring road, and within 10 min drive to groceries etc. in Selfoss. We are already planning our return trip!

The property was beautiful. Well kept, beautifully furnished, and so many amenities. The owner was wonderful, so accommodating and hospitable. The view of the lake and the hot tub on the patio were amazing! This was truly the perfect place for our vacation!
