About this cabin rental
Have you ever slept with the sound of a rushing creek surrounding you as you effortlessly slip off to sleep? Have you experienced the cool mountain breeze in the peak of summer? Do you wish you could find a cabin in a park like setting surrounded by waterfalls within walking distance?
With access to over 700 feet of rushing creek directly from the property, on over 2 acres, and at an elevation of 4,000 feet nestled just below the Blue Ridge Parkway and Waterrock Knob, this is the place for you!
The Sleeping Arrangement:
Bring the whole family. This cabin can sleep 8 comfortably with 2 king sized beds and 2 queen sized beds! This spacious cabin is equipped with 2 master bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms. The bedroom down stairs offers a large king sized bed with a cozy reading area overlooking rushing, Hornbuckle Creek. The second bedroom upstairs offers a king sized bed, large walk-in closet, and access to a private deck overlooking the creek. The upstairs loft offers 2 queen sized beds with plenty of space to stretch out or you can sit back and watch a movie. With two separate master bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a separate loft area, this cabin is ideal for multiple families.
Cabin Amenities:
The kitchen is well equipped to make a great family meal with all new stainless steel appliances as of 2021 (pots and pans, cutlery, all the small gadgets, crock-pot, toaster, coffee maker, Keurig K-Cup coffee maker, electric can opener and mixer). At a cool elevation of 4,000 feet, A/C is typically not needed even during the middle of summer. However, our cabin is equipped with both central A/C and heat. We offer a Weber gas grill (with all of the grilling utensils) on the deck if you would like to cook outside while relaxing to the soothing sounds of the creek. Gather your family and friends around the fire-pit and relax on those cool mountain evenings. The downstairs offers plenty of seating for gathering by the wood burning fire or snuggling up on the couch to watch a movie on the 55 inch flat screen TV. This cabin offers DIRECTV satellite with DVR in the family room. Both master bedrooms are equipped with DIRECTV. WiFi is available at our cabin and included. Guests have access to the very large covered carport that can be used for family reunions, weddings, and other large gatherings.
The Property:
Our Cabin is located at the end of our road. As a matter of fact, we are the ONLY cabin on our road. This means you have lots of privacy and tons of space to enjoy all to yourself. Despite being nestled in the Plott Balsam mountains at 4,000 feet, there is plenty of level ground to explore. You have access to over 700 feet of creek frontage! That's a lot of cold water splashing, crayfish hunting, cooling off in the creek, fun! There are lots of roads and trails to hike, the only thing you will find behind our property is lush forests and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are a couple of very pretty waterfalls that you can hike to right off of the property. There is also ample parking. Pets are considered. Please feel free to ask us.
Local Property Manager:
We offer a local property manager within the community that can help answer any questions you might have. By request, our property manager can provide an additional service including (but not limited to):
1. Wood delivery: About 3 days worth of firewood, starter wood, starter material (fatwood and safe lite material), matches, newspaper, lighter fluid (to be used for firepits only) and a tarp to cover fire pits delivered to your doorstep for a flat fee of $75 (direct pay) or $81 (through Vrbo)

This cabin was wonderful and we had a fantastic time. It is just a little challenging to get to, but other than that, it is one you will not want to leave. Beautiful setting, beautiful, clean cabin that is very well appointed, it is an absolutely perfect place for anyone who just wants to settle in for a few days of peace and serenity and to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Our stay was perfect from beginning to end. We ended up with some car troubles on the way and got in much later than expected after dark. Matt met us at the beginning of the road to the cabin to personally escort us there. Talk about VIP service😊 The cabin is in such a peaceful area in the middle of nature. Everything about the cabin was so well thought out for comfort and convenience. when we ordered from Amazon and the packages made it to the wrong spot, Scott personally delivered them to us. I can’t say enough good things about the house, the location, and MVP hosts. We made some great family memories there and I would highly recommend to anyone. It’s a beautiful area with lots to see and do. We didn’t want to leave.!

This property was fantastic as a base for exploring the mountains of North Carolina. Proximity to the national park and the Blue Ridge Parkway was great. The creek running along the backside of the cabin was a great place to explore and was really nice to just listen to. The WiFi worked well despite the cabin being relatively remote. Directions to the property were accurate, and we had no difficulty finding it. My family and I loved our time spent at this property!

This was the most comfortable cabin we’ve stayed at. The space is great. The furniture, bedding and towels were very comfortable. The host is wonderful. Very responsive. We are considering making this our go-to rental! What a lovely spot.

Beautiful cozy cabin in the mountains. The stream running on 2 sides of it is just beautiful! The kids played in it and hiked beside it. The cabin is extremely well stocked with everything you might need and very clean. My favorite place was the reading nook in the downstairs bedroom. I could hear the rushing water from the stream while relaxing, reading or just escaping from the others for a bit. Close to the BRP and hiking!

This property was perfect for our family. We enjoyed the creek and outdoor space. The location was great for hiking and not to far from town.

The cabin is nestled in a hollow next to a stream. It's gorgeous.
The cabin has all amenities and the beds and furniture are very comfortable. The location is such that you can make it just about anywhere you want to go in a hour or less. Located a stones throw from the Blueridge Parkway. It was great.

The positive: Everything was nice and clean when we arrived. Plenty of dishes, flatware etc. Nice towels and sheets. Great appliances such as fridge, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer!
The negative: After seeing the nice woodstove we thought for sure we could have a nice wood fire in the mornings but after many attempts we still couldn’t get it going,we’ve got a woodstove at home so we now how to light a fire.
The other disappointment was the Weber grill which looked like it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in a long time! We had planned on grilling but that wasn’t possible.
I know we could’ve contacted the property manager but since we were there for just 2 1/2 days we didn’t really want to bother with it! The mattress in the master bedroom could have been a bit more comfortable!

I looked at the Virbo pics. And watched the you tube vidio neither one did the property justice!!!!! 3 miles up a gravel road, and you pull into the driveway, you are able to park under a large carport, once inside and it is wow!!!!! A very nice kitchen, large timber ceiling, once past the ceiling it opens up to about a 25 ' ceiling for the den, a very nice free standing parlor type wood stove. The master bed room is indeed a master bedroom, with a reading room where you can hear the stream running. The master bath is above and beyond. Upstairs is a sleeping loft with three double beds and a large bear skin. The upstairs bedroom is also very nice with a balcony overlooking the stream. Outside the back door is a large deck with stairs to the back yard and fire pit sitting area. There is another set of stairs with another sitting area that leads down to the stream. There is nothing like sitting beside the fire and listening to the stream. You can really get rid of some of lifes STUFF here. All in all this property was above and beyond all expectations.

My wife and I and our dog spent four nights at this cozy house in the mountains. It is very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked. The Firepit in the backyard is perfect, and the sounds of the rushing creek next to the house were SO relaxing. We will definitely return.

We cant wait to go back! This is probably the best property we've ever stayed at....the outdoor setting is amazing, cleanliness, comfort, and everything you need for a great trip. We could have stayed at the property the entire stay and been perfectly happy. If you have your furry friends with you, it makes for an even better place with the excellent yard and creek access.

Perfect place to get away from it all. Peaceful and quite with only the sounds of the creek’s rushing water.
It was a bit of an adventure to get up the mountain but it was well worth it.
The great grandkids spent a lot of time in the creek and playing hide and seek - no electronic devices!
The host was quick to respond to questions, very friendly.

The house was SUPER clean and had lovely furnishings. The owner or property manager had even swept the deck clean and filled the bird feeder. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked every night but one. We had kinda spotty weather during our week but we used the board games, a puzzle, played corn hole under the covered parking and enjoyed the butterflies & birds between rain showers. We even lost power for a few hours (due to intense storms) and the generator kicked on seamlessly. Bring some Epsom salts with you if you plan to do any hiking. The deep tub upstairs is awesome!

Loved the location of this cabin. Felt remote once in the cabin. Creek was a plus especially at night. Sound of the flowing water made all worries go away and made for a good night's sleep. Usually like to stay in different areas and explore but definetly would come back here.

We love the location & the cabin! The cabin was very clean, well stocked & beautiful inside & out. The upgrades in the bathrooms are beautiful & very spacious. We needed time to recharge, the new deck, sound of the creek & most of all the feeling you had to just relax. I could feel the stress leaving my body. This is the 2nd time to stay, but it will definitely not be the last. Plans for another stay soon.

We had a tremendous time. From the minute we hit town and our truck broke ( wonderful people at the visitor center took us to our cabin) to enjoying the gorgeous cabin and setting. Our host was gracious and took us back to our truck that Mobile Mike fixed promptly the next morning in the parking lot. All in all this was a little piece of heaven on earth!

The creekside experience was wonderful. The house had everything that we needed and then some. The deck and fire pit were used extensively. Connectivity is a bit of a challenge, e.g unable to zoom. Not a bad thing, just a heads up.

This cabin and its location was exactly what we were looking for. It is very private and the creek is absolutely beautiful to look at and listen to from the porch. My children loved the fire-pit and all the hiking trails with waterfalls nearby. The best part of the trip was seeing the elk in town and on the Parkway. It was a wonderful trip with great memories made. We hope to visit again!

Matt's property is truly amazing. It's tucked in the mountain and with a stream running down the right and rear of the cabin. The rear deck is elevated and it feels like your in a tree house. It's well equipped for cooking. We took our two boys, two dogs, and my 76 year old parents and it was perfect. Thanks again Matt!

Whether you are looking to stay at this cabin for the entire vacation or do activities and come back to it, this place is a dream. You can hear a rushing creek from every room. Plenty of blankets, fans, keriug coffee maker, gas stove, beautiful yard, board games, and plenty of books. You really do not need to leave. It is a sanctuary in the mountains. There’s a gas grill, well stocked kitchen, beautiful deck, a fire pit complete with wood, matches, and fire starters. It’s truly amazing. We did not want to leave.

The cabin satisfied our needs. The wooded property exceeded our expectations. The creek provided the background got our stay. The trail and the staircase to the creek was terrific, and of course the outdoor lighting was a beautiful touch. The fire pit was a nightly gathering spot for a beautiful evenings relaxing before roaring fire.

Amazing property!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hemlock Creek Hollow! It is a bit of an experience getting to the house on the winding gravelly mountain roads but we became more comfortable with it each time we left and returned to the house. The house itself was perfect with a well-stocked kitchen as far as cooking supplies. We spent most of our time on the back deck, around the fire pit (yes, even in July!) and the creek below. Our teenage son caught several small brook trout as he explored up and down the creek. We hope to return one day with our four wheeler in tow so we can do some of our own off-road exploring!
10.0 / 10.0
Amazing cabin, right on a creek and in a beautiful area! Worth more than 5 stars!!
2 story cabin, right on a beautiful rocky creek. 2 bedrooms with king beds, 2 queen beds in loft. 2 bathrooms one downstairs and one upstairs (loft and bedroom share bathroom, 2 doors). All new appliances, laundry room, and FULLY stocked kitchen and grill. Lots of towels and soaps.
Amazing deck out back with beautiful views of the trees and creek. Stairs down deck to fireplace (need to bring your own wood) more stairs down to creek. Side area with swing and bird feeder.
Cabin was easy to get to as long as you follow the directions that the owner gives you! DO NOT follow mapquest by using the address alone, it takes you to another area! I did use mapquest and followed owner's directions step by step and we had NO problem finding the cabin. We rented a mini van and the access was easy! We got there early and ate lunch in the car, while the cleaner finished.
The owner's directions say to turn onto Plott Balsam Road between the motel with a red roof and Starvin Marvin's. Both are CLOSED and the sign says Blue Ridge Motel. But no sign for Starvin Marvin's, but you can't miss the 2 red roofed buildings on the left!
Pets: we brought 2 smaller dogs and had no issues at the cabin. There is a pet fee for each dog. I usually let them out Front to use the bathroom, due to the stairs off the deck. No issues! It is a big yard with lots of trees, so keep an eye on dogs that love to explore. We bought bells to put on their collars, in case of bears! I did have to carry my smaller dog up the stairs since it wore her out a bit.
Pros for cabin: right between Maggie Valley and Cherokee, VERY secluded, super comfortable beds, all windows have WOOD BLINDS (big plus for me since I like it dark while I sleep), amazing yard and landscape, right on the creek (my kids LOVED going up and down the creek, water shoes a must!), spacious bathrooms, plenty of room for a big family, lots of games and books, and just all around amazing cabin!!
Cons for cabin: LOTS of stairs, King beds are VERY high (my mother-in-law is only 5'2 and could not climb into the bed. We brought down the foot stool from the upstairs bedroom and put it next to the bed, so she can climb in.)
Tips: Head to cabin during the day, so it is easiest to find. The mountain roads have mirrors around the turns to make driving them easier! Bring extra trash bags, we had 2 and it was barely enough for 4 days. Closest grocery store is in Waynesville 30 mins from the cabin. Places close on Sundays.
Enjoy it!!!!
