About this house rental
Original Sullivan's Island beach home with charming features, two short blocks walk to beach access path. The living area boasts an open floor plan with common living room and dining area. Dining room with large family table will seat 8 comfortably. Kitchen is spacious with portable dishwasher and eat in kitchen table (seats 4). Screened porch features ceiling fan, a sofa, chairs for up to 9 and dining table that seats 4. There are 3 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom on the main floor and another 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom in the lower level. Entry to the downstairs bedrooms is outside through a stairway located in the screened porch. Charcoal grill, WiFi, hardwood floors throughout. Linens included. No Smoking and No Pets. Please do not park on the cement pad on Ion Street this is a sidewalk. Parking is off Middle Street.

Our family had the best of time at your place. The place was just steps away from the beach and easily accessible. It was kid friendly. We had a bunch of teenagers as well in our group who enjoyed the most as the house was just setup right for big groups. Plenty of seating areas. Wonderfully furnished. Bedrooms were spacious as well as adequately furnished. It was a wonderful stay overall. The maintenance staff were also really supportive and prompt. We did have couple of minor issues raised and they attended to us immediately. One of those was the unique Dishwasher which needed to be plugged in when needed. Other than that, the house is a second home for anyone travelling to Charleston.

I love this house. It is like stepping back in time to the house I lived in as a little girl. There were 10 of us and we had more than enough room. We could all go to our own spaces and have solitude if needed. The neighborhood is perfect. The yard is excellent. the screened in porch is a love of mine. We sat out there every night and talked for hours. The kitchen is huge and well put together. We made huge breakfasts and dinners and everyone ate together. The walk to the beach is very easy. Anything you might need ,you will find in this house. I love it. We will definitely stay again next year and this time for longer.

ProsThis house was one of the best I have stayed at in years. It has tons of character with shells, toys, knick knacks to look at in every corner of the home. It feels large and has plenty of space upstairs and down. The yard is huge and the neighborhood is quiet. Kitchen is massive and has everything you need. They put the linens on the bed for you, plenty of towels, and the cleanest beach house I have ever rented. No sand on floors which I have never seen before. Company checks on you throughout week which I am not used to experiencing and was very nice touch.ConIf you are a dad of small kids like me, the hike with 100 lbs of gear on a beach cart isnt hard, but gets a little long day after day.Air conditioner struggles some once it gets HOT, but otherwise cools the place down at night and throughout the morning and early afternoon. No outdoor shower but the hose works fine. Furniture old, but beds are comfortable.Great house!

However, I would recommend investigating some HVAC zoning for the upper and lower floors.
Our stay was hot to say the least. From the time we arrived to the time we left this unit hovered at 76-78 degrees and would only drop to a moderately comfortable level of 74 at night but never lower than that.

The entire downstairs of the home was musty and there was mold growth on walls and ceilings. This is extremely hazardous to someone with breathing issues. There were many areas throughout the home where there was water damage on the ceiling. This home is in need of many upgrades and repairs.

We love the old home. It is comfortable and in an excellent location. Also it is affordable. The important things are clean, the rest is dirty and uncared for. We called maintenance for many lightbulbs, a clean shower curtain and no heat because no one filled the propane tank The maintenance guy, Tyler? was fantastic: kind, understanding, efficient and knowledgeable. The woman who mowed the yard was unbelievably hard working and did an excellent job.

This is an original beach cottage in need of basic maintenance. The floor in the downstairs bathroom/bedroom is sinking. I called it in. We spent 4 days stepping carefully in those rooms. The screen porch was delightful. Lots of room to gather as a family. The house would be delightful if the owners invested in the property. A/C ductwork needs sealed. Crawlspace /foundation needs immediate attention

It is not modern, but we adored the charm and location. The set up is unique, but was perfect for our teens who took the bottom floor and adults enjoyed the upstairs. I read the other reviews and was looking forward to staying in this house; however, I was disappointed that the house wasn't better kept up. The shower curtain had mold at the bottom and the bathroom smelled bad. The downstairs smelled of insecticide. I had to contact law enforcement twice: the next door neighbors had ongoing domestic violence with yelling on their porch, doors slamming, and a physical altercation. In another event, two teenage boys shot a dove off of a telephone wire with a BB gun, then couldn't find the dove, and I found it a couple of hours later, alive but bleeding. I couldn't catch it. The property management had advertised they could provide "light housecleaning" and I called to request this, and was contacted by the housecleaning folks that they would come for $395.00, or $345 if I made up the five beds myself, which didn't seem like light housecleaning to me. There were not enough towels, linens, TP or PT provided for my 12 day stay. (Two rolls of TP, 2 rolls of PT; one set of towels for each bed.)

It was great to come back to Sullivan's Island after many years. This home is old and we certainly knew this given the photos, description and price point. It does have a great screened porch and location can't be beat. What was challenging given the heat the week we were there was the temp in the house was 80 degrees and a few bedrooms had no ceiling fans or ceiling fans that didn't work. Island Realty was very responsive and came out with a air conditioning window unit which helped.

I sent a complaint into the company on Thursday, July 15, but have yet to hear back! The home was extremely smelly, very musty. There was mold in many rooms, which was quite disgusting. Many of us who stayed in this house have allergies and ended up sick during our stay due to the mold. We had ants in the kitchen, which added to our problems. The bathrooms were gross, between the old dirty floors and the moldy shower curtains. Very unhealthy place, especially when 5 of us left sick!

This 1900 home was very comfortable for the 9 of us. Comfortable beds, plenty of room to spread out, nice large dining table, huge kitchen, wonderful large screened in porch, plenty of parking. With only 2 bathrooms an outdoor shower would've been nice. Would definitely stay here again.

As other reviews stated, there are a LOT of shells & nicknacks in the house as well as drawers, shelves, and cupboards full of random stuff, which means there is less room for stuff you bring. It all does contribute to a feeling of genuine island charm, and the funkiness of the house layout added to the experience. The space was clean and so fantastically close to the beach. The beach access was ideal-- a mini jaunt through wetlands on a beautiful boardwalk. Also, so close to restaurants. We found the air conditioning worked great and loved the screened in porch. If you are sensitive to mildew or worry about relaxing on heavily used furniture, this might not be the place for you, but the casual vibe was just what our group needed.
