About this house rental
Our home is in the heart of Historic Mystic located half way between the Mystic Museum of Art and Captain Daniel Packer Inn and is within easy walking distance to all Downtown Mystic restaurants, shops, and attractions.
This Water Street property is an historic 2-bedroom home constructed in 1845 in the Greek Revival style and offers both 19th century charm and 21st century convenience. It is fully furnished and decorated with an eclectic collection of Americana, period pieces, folk art, curiosities, and other items of local interest. The doors are a bit crooked, the floors slant and the glass in most of the windows is wavy. Keep in mind the home was built prior to modern building codes so the stairs are a bit steeper than modern homes and may be a challenge for guests with a mobility condition. But you will also find Wi-Fi with high-speed internet access, HDTV and state of the art heating and A/C.
On the main floor, you will enjoy a fully appointed galley kitchen equipped with a range/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and microwave oven. You will also find a coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, dishes as well as all essential cooking/eating utensils. There is generous seating in both the dining and living room areas together with remotely controlled lighting and ceiling fans. Sorry, no washer or dryer.
The two bedrooms and the fully renovated bathroom are located on the second floor where you will also find a cozy reading nook with its own great view of the Mystic River. Both bedrooms have queen size beds, a comfortable sitting area, dresser drawers with full size mirrors and plenty of closet space. Recommended occupancy is for parties of four but additional sleeping accommodations can be found in the living room on the queen size convertible sofa bed for larger parties. The single bathroom offers a full-size tub/shower combination and custom vanity/sink. Bedding, linens, and bath towels are provided for the number of guests listed in your reservation.
Our guests with youngsters you will find a highchair in the kitchen, a Pack and Play crib, a crate of juvenile toys in the reading nook, plenty of puzzles, lots of board games and plenty of books, books, and more books. There are playing cards and plenty of great books for adults as well – lots of books.
The elevated front veranda seating area offers an awesome view of the Mystic River and is a great place for people watching. There is a large rear deck with table, chairs, and gas grill right at the foot of historic St. Jago Ledge if you prefer a more intimate setting.
We provide on-site parking for two vehicles or a single vehicle with a modest boat trailer. There is a public boat launch less than a minute’s walk from the front door and transient dockage at Downtown Mystic Marina directly across the street.

Because i have lived in Mystic, i knew exactly where this property was and it checked all my boxes. The location is so close to all things downtown Mystic has to offer. You can park your car and walk everywhere. Parking in Mystic has always been a problem, however now there is a huge parking lot at the end of Cottrel Street.

Perfect location in Mystic, near seaport and aquarium, quick drive to Stonington and Avery Beach. Extremely convenient. Property owners were very accommodating and communicative.

This historic home was in the perfect location to enjoy everything Mystic has to offer. It was great to just park and walk everywhere we wanted to go.

This home is in downtown Mystic. There is a view of the harbor. The location is ideal if you want to be downtown. The house is clean, comfortable and an antique. Communication with the owner was excellent. My only caveat would be if you have mobility issues know that the floors are slanted and the stairway is steep. It truly is an antique with antique decor throughout the home. The bedrooms are upstairs. We had a wonderful stay in Mystic.

You cannot beat the proximity of this quaint home to the local attractions.

Very convenient to everything. This house reflects the true essence of Mystic with it's history and nautical influences. We had everything we needed for our stay. Just a few steps away from Main Street, it was far enough from the traffic and hustle & bustle. We will definitely return to this house for future visits to Mystic!

This property truly is a stroll's distance from downtown. Mystic Pizza just a short walk away. (You really should eat there at least once.)
The house is right off the street but is very quiet in the evening, so no problem.
The description is accurate so remember the stairs are steep. The landing at the top is a pleasant spot to read in.
Beds comfy with a selection of pillows. Kitchen had all the basics needed.

We loved this quirky historic home decorated with lots of interesting items yet all the “modern” amenities in the very comfortable living room and bedroom spaces. The location is fabulous- walking distance to the entire downtown area and across the street from two of the best restaurants in Mystic! The owner Michael is great, very proactive with check in and check out information and very responsive to any messages. We would come back in a heartbeat!

Beautiful downtown mystic the views and location are great but the cleanliness of the house was lacking. The bathroom ceiling is very moldy the towel were musty. Every surface was covered in dust including the dining room table and the kitchen drawers were dirty with trash in them. Overall very musty smelling.
With some cleaning and removal of all the dust collecting nick knacks the place could be amazing

We loved this property, just a short walk from the Mystic drawbridge and close to shops and restaurants. We especially loved the veranda for sitting and watching the boats coming out and returning. The house was quite roomy with two good sized bedrooms, a large dining room and spacious living room. The bathroom features a soaking tub! There was also a beautiful back deck that faces a famous sheer rock ledge that was perfect for morning coffee. The beds were comfortable and the A/C worked perfectly. The kitchen was well outfitted. It was a little loud for a brief period on Friday night, people coming and going to bars, restaurants, etc but it's really not a late night town so it quieted down quickly.

This property is a wonderful place tostay to enjoy the amienceof southeastern, CT. Growing up in nearby Stonington, Mystic, CT has a special place in our hearts. We all live now in New Orleans, LA and Mobile, AL. We made a special visit so that my now daughter's fiancee' could propose to her in the Mystic, CT area. This home provided us with the ambiance of homes past lived in in the area. It is perfect for families.. It allowed us to create a special memory within the home's surroundings. The property manager was very accessible and welcoming.

Charming old house with marina view, walking distance to everything in Mystic. Good bathroom with new fixtures. So nice to find basics already in the kitchen like you would coming back to your own house!

My daughter and I stayed for a couple nights. The property is certainly quirky but looking at some of the details of the house you can not help but find yourself thinking of its existence since the mid-1800's (if our investigations were accurate). The treads on the stairs alone evoke images of the decades of use (unless they're original - then over a century!). Really enjoyed the property.

This home was exactly what we had imagined for our stay in Mystic! The location was absolutely perfect with several restaurants and shops just around the corner! Great communication with the owner as well!

We love older homes and this one did not disappoint! It’s true what other reviewers have said, the stairs are steep and floors crooked so it’s not for everyone but the charm is immense and if you appreciate an older home full of history you will love this place! Walking distance to everything also!

My wife and I arrived on a Wednesday evening, and everything was prepared for us. We unloaded the car and started on dinner first, learning the ins and outs of a new kitchen and preparing for our stay. We couldn't believe how close everything was! Every morning, we walked to breakfast (first it was Rise, then it was Sift, then it was down to the Mystic Depot Roasters), and we scoured that stretch of Main Street, exploring every store.
The property manager stayed in constant contact (without being annoying!), and it was comforting to know that if we did run into any issues, they would be addressed immediately. It was a very comfortable stay, and we'd go again in a second.

The home is exactly as advertised. It’s very clean and had everything we needed. Kevin gave detailed instructions regarding check in/out and was extremely helpful and prompt in communicating. It’s a short walk from the home to most of the downtown Mystic, but at the same time quiet and peaceful at night. We’d definitely stay here again!

Easy checkin. Amazing location. Good place for a few days. Nice and quiet.

We couldn't ask for a better location. This beautiful old home was two blocks from Mystic pizza and everything that downtown Mystic has to offer.
I will say, though we loved the house, it might not be for everyone. The eclectic collection of antiquities, angled floors and steep staircase might provide a challenge for the average traveler.
Kevin and Michael provided detailed instructions prior to our arrival and were attentive to anything we might have needed.
My family loved our two days in Mystic.
We will definately be seeing you again.
Thank you!!

Perfect Location!
Girls weekend for 3. Great location. Walked every day. Center is a quick 3-5 min walk. Restaurants, pubs, boutiques. Walked to Mystic Seaport. Draw bridge is unique.
Meals/snacks: The Mariner; Mystic Pizza; Sift; The Treehouse Oyster Club; Captain Daniel Packer Inne - downstairs pub area (charming upstairs dining room also); Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream. Took most of our food home since there were so many great places to eat. No complaints about any establishment.
House was immaculate, charming, interesting, comfortable. Perfect for a long weekend.

Piece of History, Close to Town
Great location that was walking distance to most of downtown. It was nice to read the history of the home that was in a book at the house. Great communication with the hosts as well.

Location with a dash of character
This historic cottage is located very slose to the main street in Mystic. This makes it very conveninet for exploring, but you do get some traffic noise. The parking fits 2 cars and is well marked. The owner was great at staying in touch and we had no problems at all getting in.
The owners have decorated in a fun way and the house has great character. Our family was able to cook and even have a bbq with some friends.
The kitchen was adequate, if a bit random in what was there, and the bedding for the pullout sofa was a bit hard to locate.

Short review
Very clean, well furnished. Close enough to downtown to walk, removed enough from downtown to avoid noise. A dozen restaurants, good shopping within a ten to twelve min. walk. Host Kevin gave us all the info and supplies we needed. A nearby bakery, Sift, may have the best baked goods anywhere.

Walkable
Great place if you want to be close to the action. Four restaurants very close and the Main Street of Mystic very close. So much history around. And great food.

Great vertical house
This house was wonderful and located in the exact right place in Mystic!
Steps could be a bit of a doozy if you don't get around well, but our family of 3 with a 5 year old LOVED it!
