About this house rental
Crappie Cottage (named for the fish) is the perfect spot for a couples' retreat or a family gathering -- featuring fishing, swimming, and lots of spots to relax. Charming, but not rustic (WiFi, 3 LCD TVs, DVD), it's equipped with everything you need except food and bait. New for 2022 is a washer/dryer.
A unique feature is a large swim dock with three kayaks and plenty of water toys for playing or sunning. There's also a covered boat dock for fishing and you can moor a boat dockside.
The third bedroom is small, suitable for one adult or two kids
Crappie Cottage is in a park-like setting on a quiet residential cove, and
Horseshoe Bend is one of the nicest areas of the lake, providing golf and fine dining on the Bend and a wide choice of vacation activities within a 15 minute drive.
We welcome non shedding friendly dogs.

As always our stay was perfect. We look forward to our yearly vacation to Lake of the Ozarks. We are so happy we found this cottage a few years back. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us! Can’t imagine staying anywhere else. ❤️

Overall we had an enjoyable time during our stay. Usually with a VRBO, the owner has left a little welcome note and a few guidelines, how-tos, etc. Nothing was left for us at this house. Not even info on what to do when we left. The owners did come around a lot. Every day they were there planting flowers, cleaning up outside, trimming bushes, etc. I found that a little odd. The neighbors left their music on the entire time we were there. Thank goodness it was music we could tolerate while on the dock. The place worked for what we needed.

This property is very private and lots of outdoor spaces to hang out. The kayaks were great to have all week. The cabin is really cool and we enjoyed our time. The hosts were very accommodating. Definitely recommend!

My husband, our 2 daughters, my parents, their dog and I had a much needed relaxing weekend get away. We enjoyed using their kayaks and paddle boat they had provided out on the cove. We were able to fish off both docks with plenty of room and caught many blue gill, bass and crappie. We made such amazing memories and plan to rent again. Candy and Jerry were such gracious hosts and made sure we were good and settled which we greatly appreciated. We highly recommend The Crappie Cottage.

Crappie Cottage was a great place for our family and dog. The accommodations were more than adequate. The only drawback would be not having a full size oven, since we cook most of our meals.

Very clean cottage with pretty much everything you need. Owner was very helpful in getting boat launched and storing trailer. Relaxing stay in quiet cove. Enjoyed swimming, kayaking and fishing from dock.

Everything at the Crappie Cottage is amazing. Year after year we enjoy it even more. Cleanliness, to the beach, to the amenities surpass our expectations! We feel like this is our second home.

The property was situated right on the lake and unlike its neighboring properties did not have a ton of steps to get to the water. There is a cute little alcove by the house that creates a nice space to wade in the water, fish or watch your kids play. Additionally, there is a dock a little further out where my kids had a blast swimming, jumping into the water and playing with the kyaks and swim equipment provided.
There was ample space for the 4 adults and 2 kids to spread out as well as hang out together with various outdoor spaces and a nice open eating/living area. The kitchen and grilling amenaties were sufficient for our cooking needs, and the house was located close to a grocery store as well as numerous restaurants when we didn't want to cook.
Jerry, the proprietor, was very accomodating, pleasant and helpful. We felt able to ask questions of him and he always made himself available for us when needed. We had an excellent vacation and I would absolutely recommend this property to others in the future.

We absolutely LOVED our time at the Crappie cottage! Everything was just perfect and the cottage is so nice, pictures do not do this place justice! A little piece of heaven!

Excellent property right on the water. Near golfing and state parks (nice hiking at Lake of the Ozarks State Park and Ha Ha Tonka State Park). Very quiet location with great deck overlooking bay. House is very well stocked with all that you may need, including charcoal grill.

Vacation perfection
Our stay at the lake house was amazing. Not one detail out of place to make our time spent comfortable. A location where you can be secluded from life, or venture off and be part of all the water fun. So many options around us. My kids did everything….floats, kayaks, swimming, finding rocks, enjoying the deck, making forts outside, and more. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked…we liked the knife set so much we bought one for our own home. Would return for another stay. A true vacation gem. Thank you for having us. Your kindness was refreshing.

The owners had everything you would ever need. Property was very clean. So many different seating areas and decks. Two docks. One to swim off of and one to fish. Very private and secluded. Safe for our young ones to just swim and be adventuresome. Great grill and kitchen had all dishes and pots needed. Beautiful landscaping. There was very steep drive but all of us made it fine. Easy walking to different docks snd decks. We will stay here again. In fact we wanted to stay next year same time but already was booked. This is how it should be snd not very many owners take such pride and attention to detail. Worth every penny.

Great family getaway!
Enjoyed this beautiful private cottage. Perfect place to spend a week with my daughter, son and his girlfriend. Especially enjoyed the swim dock and kayaking. Our dog had a great time as well. Hope to be back again next year. Thank you Jerry and Candy!

The best part of the house is that it is as about the lake. All rooms are lake facing with either windows or patio doors. A huge deck to enjoy and un like other homes, lots of property.

We came to Crappie Cottage for a relaxing get-away in early November. We did not come for the busy season intentionally and found the location peaceful and exactly what we were looking for. Cottage was cozy and well equipped, minus washer and dryer. Beautiful views and great decks. We did not need much assistance from owners, but what communication we did have was prompt and helpful. Driveway is steep, but manageable. We brought our dog and were able to find a walking path and dog park nearby. We enjoyed the area sites and would recommend Ha Ha Tonka Castle ruins and the state park in Camdenton. We enjoyed many restaurants, but favorites include Baxters, Wobbly Boots (best butter cake), Pappos, JB Hooks (happy hour 3-8 with live music), and the humongous cinnamon roll at Stewart’s. We would definitely recommend this place for a fall getaway and would think it would also be great in the summer months for families and couples.

Property was well maintained with quality equipment. Owners were very nice. The property has a deck overlooking a cove, with two decks, one which has the owners boats and another which you can swim/fish off of. They have three kayaks, with life jackets, that you can use. Our son fished off of the dock everyday and caught a lot of large mouth bass. They had a good Weber grill that was very clean, and provided charcoal and a chimney. We barbequed two nights for dinner. The couch in the living room folds out into a bed. We didn't use it but it is a nice option. The owners live on the property, but their house is secluded and we very rarely saw them. They have an annex in their basement that you can rent for $75/night. Our daughter and her husband stayed there 4 nights. It too is very secluded from the owners. A gravel drive connects it to the cabin.
The only issues we had were that there was no full sized oven, they had a convection oven/microwave. We like to bake. The drive down to the cottage is very steep. It rained every day we were there, for a week, and the drive could be challenging. Eventually you get the hang of it.
Our family had a very enjoyable stay. It was very quiet and relaxing. Too bad the Blues lost both games while we were there.
