We just completed our 8th year staying here and it never disappoints. You can’t beat the views from the deck or the proximity to restaurants and local attractions. Every year we say how thankful we found this spot on the “quiet side”!

South Harbor is about half an hour from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor and the main portion of Acadia national Park. We enjoyed being able to escape to our quiet little house located right on South Harbor while staying close enough to Acadia to do all the hiking and eat all the lobster that we wanted.

The view of the harbor was nothing short of stunning. Watching lobster and sailboats coming and going all day was mesmerizing. And the view was from the loft, the deck and the patio and hot tub. We took advantage of it for breakfast lunch and dinner because we could not beat it at a restaurant. Rooms were very clean if a little small. Kitchen was well appointed. Stairs were a little steep. Location in Southwest Harbor is wonderful much more quaint and quiet than Bar Harbor. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The view is probably the best I’ve ever seen in places. I’ve stayed all over the world. And the owner was very sweet to give us a heads up on sidewalk construction and offer a refund, but it really was not an issue.

We really enjoyed our stay in this home and location. We had everything we needed in the condo. We did not hear our neighbors at all. The loft stairs are a little tricky but we had adult children manuvering the stairs so it worked out. There is a BR in the downstairs next to the main BR if you have youngsters. The views are outstanding. Don't miss a sunset. Some mornings there is fog so when it's clear you won't want to miss it. Beautiful. We would stay again and definitely recommend.

To us, the location a short drive south of Bar Harbor was key. We didn’t want to be in the middle of the tourist bustle that is Bar Harbor, but also didn’t want to be so “off grid” that we’d feel too isolated. Southwest Harbor checked all those boxes. Just enough locally without compromising tranquility.
The place was great. Amazing view. Good kitchen and bath arrangements. Gas BBQ on the deck that we used one night to grill some steaks to go with the lobsters we got to go from Beales a 4 minute drive from the unit.

Had a great time. Weather was very warm. The area and park was fantastic. A few things we saw that we think could help. Sun blocking curtains in upstairs. Need new can opener. Overall except for the heat we had a great time. Would truly come back and stay again.
Oh hot tub was a favorite too.

Beautiful view, clean and quiet space, very comfortable and nice location. We never once heard the traffic or neighbors. Great spot to enjoy the best of Acadia.

We loved the location of the VRBO home. It was in a sleepy Maine area close enough to walk to restaurants and shops. The view was beautiful. Soaking in the hot tub after long hikes was dreamy.

This was my first time trying a VRBO stay. This property was exactly as pictured, clean and had organized and well though out check in and check out process. It is in a great location for visiting Bar Harbor and the Acaida National Park. It is a place I hope to stay at again. Thank you for sharing your place with us!

Our family really enjoyed our stay in Southwest Harbor. Watching the boats coming in and out of the harbor was awesome. We hiked and biked throughout Acadia and it was great to return at the end of the day to this peaceful, well maintained, and beautiful home. Thank you for a fantastic vacation!

Excellent experience at The Port! The condo was clean and well equipped with everything you could need. Check in was simple and everything was as described. Far enough from Bar Harbor to escape the tourist activity, but close enough for dinner in town. The hot tub was perfect after a long day or hiking or bike riding. Sunrise from the downstairs bedroom is not to be missed! We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed this "quiet side" Southwest Harbor location--convenient to the small village's shops and restaurants, as well as ANP trails like Acadia Mt. and Flying Mt. And just about a 25 minute drive to Bar Harbor and ANP's Cadillac Mt entrance. The condo itself was quiet and clean. Views of the harbor and marina from the living room and balcony are just amazing! We saw herons on the dock and osprey flying overhead. We appreciated that plenty of bath towels were provided, along with a washing machine and dryer (came in handy drying things out after a rainy day hike).

We are a family of 5 with three children and this property was perfect for us. We fished off the dock, enjoyed the hot tub, had a great view of the harbor and were very close to town. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had.

We (husband, two kids and me) want a great place on the quiet side when we visit MDI. This place did not disappoint. It was the perfect base camp. We loved being able to walk to catch the Islander bus or get dinner in South West Harbor. We also enjoyed getting back early to watch the Sunset streak across the sky over the harbor. The deck was the perfect spot to hang out and relax at the end of every night. We didn't cook, but there was everything we would have needed if we had.
The hosts were easy to communicate with and very responsive. I highly recommend staying here.

This was our first trip to Maine (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and we absolutely loved Southwest Harbor! This property was exactly as described with incredible water views. It was so easy to walk into town for shopping, eating or one of the local events. The uptown area is ADORABLE with lots of great dining options. Everyone was so friendly and we had great service everywhere! So relaxed and laid back, which was exactly what we wanted. It was an easy drive to Bar Harbor and everything Acadia has to offer. We had an amazing time and can’t wait to return!

Peaceful and relaxing property
Very nice vacation rental in a quiet setting overlooking the harbor. Minutes to walk into town and to the Explorer shuttle stop. Kitchen was equipped well, plenty of towels, very comfy beds. Friends rented the next door unit and we simply opened the pass-through doors in the deck dividers and we’re able to freely co-mingle on the deck. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing View
We absolutely loved the harbor view and enjoyed watching the boats come in and go out. Our family of four with 2 adult children were very comfortable here and we enjoyed the “quiet side” of the island. The hot tub was very nice too. We would recommend this condo and would love to come back ourselves.

Amazing Views!
My fiancé and I stayed for a week in late March and loved our time on MDI and at Port! You can’t beat those views out over the harbor. The house is well equipped with everything we needed and Jane was very responsive to any questions or concerns.

You can't get a better View!
We stayed 5 nights at Port. From the minute you walk in, you are looking at the amazing view of the water and boats in Southwest Harbor and the view is even better in person than in the pictures. The view is also excellent from the lower level master bedroom- in fact you can wake up to the sunrise in the harbor (which is exactly what we did) and it is breathtaking! We loved sitting in the hot tub after hiking all day in Acadia National Park. The balcony with table, 4 chairs and a Weber grill provides an outdoor space for enjoying the amazing harbor view. It is all about the views and honestly, it doesn't get better than these views from this condo. The queen sized bed was very comfortable. Jane was a wonderful host and very attentive! She made us feel like this was our home away from home. We had everything we needed in terms of kitchenware, paper towels, toilet paper and even ziplock bags. There was a flashlight, which came in handy with our sunsets in the park. We found the location to be excellent. There are mutliple trailheads in this area for Acadia and the main park was only 20-25 minutes away. It was quiet, peaceful and heavenly. We highly recommend this property. The private dock was a added treat! Thanks!

Outstanding from start to finish
This property was my favorite of any I’ve stayed at. Clean, beautiful, great location and quiet. The view is beautiful. Jane provided us with information on activities, restaurants, shopping and tours. The location of the property gave us quick and easy access to any of the above yet gave us the peaceful stay we were seeking. Highly recommended!

The view makes it!
Portside was the perfect location for our exploration of Mount Desert Island and Acadia. Two adult couples shared the home. Very comfortable living space, kitchen well stocked, deck overlooking harbor was ideal! Had a few meals on the deck, cooked on the gas grill, relaxed in the hot tub. We did not read closely enough the description that the A/C was in the lowest level Master only. It was quite warm in the loft bedroom on some of the nights, however, there was a fan and we could open the windows. Younger somethings might not mind, but when you're used to dry and cool, well, just thought others should be aware! Otherwise, it was a terrific place, and you can wake up to the gorgeous sunrise across the harbor!! Communication with the owner was excellent. We would definitely stay there again! Don't miss Beal's and Thurston's Lobster, both close by for the freshest lobster on the island! We miss it already.

Home away from home
We loved our home base at Southwest Harbor! An easy walk to shops and the marina (our departure point for our lobster tour), and a short drive to easy ocean walks and moderate mountain hikes. The house was clean, cozy, and well-equipped. We had everything we needed to make meals, plus books, board games and a hot tub to occupy us during the wet and cold days when we decided to stay home. The views were stunning and we spent as much time on the deck as we could. A quick note that the stairs to the loft might be tricky for some folks, but my kids had no problems going up and down. Jane was very responsive when we needed to communicate with her and we appreciated the thoughtful welcome note and gift. We highly recommend this property and look forward to staying here again when we next visit Acadia.

Well, the pictures was right. This house was fantastic, views were to die for and it was everything we needed.

What a view!
The quiet side of MDI is just as little rly and “Port” was a great home base for a week. Despite a mostly rant week, we still had a wonderful view to enjoy, as well as the hot tub! My only suggestion is that it might be time to replace the sofas, as they are a little worn and not the most comfortable. Would return!

A perfect get away
The pictures don’t fully capture the beauty of this spot. Glorious views of the harbor from the living room, deck, and bedrooms. The “private” dock and chiminea were a highlight. It’s an easy, 5 minute walk to the charming town of SW Harbor, or 30 seconds to walk to the Upper Deck, a fun harbor-side spot for a drink and dinner. The house is very well appointed, with many thoughtful touches for a long stay. Jane, the property manager, is responsive and fun. All in, one of our best VRBO stays.

Peaceful getaway walking distance to town
Loved our week at Port!
The property is located walking distance to downtown Southwest Harbor - the road is busy but has an ample shoulder / sidewalk.
View of the harbor from the back deck and main bedroom is perfect. We spent most of our time at the house on the deck eating meals or in the hot tub watching the sun set.
The house was perfect for three adults to coexist comfortably, cook in the well-appointed kitchen, and relax at night after enjoying amazing Acadia.
Jane, the property manager, was lovely - very communicative and set us up with all the amenities we might need - even masks and hand sanitizer for navigating town during COVID.
We will definitely be back!
