About this house rental
#2 Cottage located in the woods on the quiet side of M.D.I. Pet friendly. Walking distance to town and the Great Harbor Marina with more than a dozen restaurants in the area as well as the Island Explorer Shuttle Bus System (June 23 to Columbus Weekend) to almost everywhere on M.D.I. and Acadia National Park. Minutes to Acadia, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, mountain climbing, bird & whale watching,. Built in 2012 this is a two bedroom cottage with a large loft master and one bath. The loft has a king size bed with lots of space and two half-height storage closets, the big bedroom has a queen bed with hanging and dresser storage, the small bedroom has twin bunk beds and dresser storage. The kitchen is open to the living/dining area with a cathedral ceiling. We can accommodate more people in our other cottage (Homeaway #956783) if you have a large group or family gathering. The whole interior is knotty pine with laminate wood floors throughout. There is a heat pump in the living room for either heat or air conditioning. The outside patio is pea stone with a barbecue grill, picnic table, chairs, lounge and steps down to a pea stone firepit area.

This was our second stay at the cottage and it was everything we remembered from our first trip. It feels very secluded and peaceful but is walkable to town and the restaurants and shops of Southwest Harbor.
Beds are comfy and there is everything you would need in the house, including many games and books in the laundry area which was very nice

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! The location was so peaceful, yet close to everything we needed. We loved sitting on the loft and reading and my daughter loved the bunk beds. Everything was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the outdoor fire pit too! Couldn’t have asked for a better week.

We had such a great stay at cottage #2! I wish I had booked it for more days. The cabin was exceptionally clean and comfortable with a rustic feel. The view of the distant harbor from the master bedroom was so beautiful at sunrise. I kept waking up early just to watch view. Breakfast at the picnic table was also very serene. One morning we watched a red fox hunt for breakfast. It’s a great place to relax and decompress from the stress of life with all of the modern conveniences you’re used to (WiFi, streaming services, kitchen supplies, laundry). Walking distance to the small town with great little boutiques, a post office, a bakery, cafes and ice cream. Acadia/Bar Harbor is about a 25-30 minute drive. Highly recommend!

We loved Vicki’s cottage! It was super clean, the kitchen was very well equipped and the setting is amazing, so quiet and in the middle of the forest. It was really nice to be away from the crowd. I highly recommend it.

Cottage was wonderful and hosts were very thoughtful. When the power went out from the post-tropical storm, Vicki brought us water so we could make coffee and a few lanterns to light up the cottage. Thank you for making our vacation special!

My family and I really enjoyed the cottage as a place to relax after long days of hiking and exploring Acadia. The accommodations were perfect, and it’s also in walking distance to several restaurants and shops as well. We also really enjoyed being able to have our dog with us to experience the park! We loved the cabin. It was new and clean, nicely laid out, and well equipped. We were near the main road but it was secluded. Nice fire pit. Great bedroom up in the loft. And a deer strolled by while we were looking out the window.

If I had to say anything bad about this listing it’s that the pictures do not do this place justice!! What a peaceful serene setting to spend our 15 year anniversary. The kitchen was amazing to cook in, the atmosphere was picturesque and exactly what we expected Maine to be. Being outside the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor was incredible! We didn’t want for anything during our stay (except maybe a dry day!). We hiked our butts off and were able to relax and enjoy the scenery when we were done. Thank you so much for having us!!

Such a wonderful cottage! Vicki is amazing host, very responsive! Full kitchen, everything is well stocked. Nice back yard where you can see sun rise while enjoying your morning coffee and also have a relaxing time by the fire in the evenings! Overall, great experience! Highly recommended!

The Cottage was very pleasing and inviting. However, we had a problem in one of the bedrooms. We reported to the owner/landlord. Her reaction was to blame us. She became very upset and told my daughter in law to return to CT. The whole episode was handled very unprofessionally. It put a damper on our vacation.
The property was located close to the village. However, it was on a very steep and rutted road. Luckily, we had an SUV.

I was a little disappointed with the initial impression. Very dark and heavily wooded. No water views except from the second floor loft looking out in the distance. Access road requires an SUV or pickup truck. Definitely not a low to the ground vehicle. The general interior impression was OK. The main indoor issues were the towels (funny smell) and the bathroom (I had to pretend I was in a campground). We managed to spend as little time there as possible but we made it work. Will not be returning to this property.

Vicki did an amazing job of preparing the place. It was very clean and she had thought about many of the small details that can often be overlooked. She was very responsive and has a great place to share. It is quiet and secluded, but it's close to downtown. Beautiful place!

Chris and I have been coming to Woodland Cottages almost every year since 2015. We have stayed in each of the three cabins which are cozy and comfortable, clean and well stocked..Vicky has been very responsive with any needs or request we have asked her. Vicky also alerted us that next years slots for the cabins we filling up quickly, so I was able to put in for our vacation before she was sold out.
This year we were able to bring our mini schnauzers, Riley and Lily with us. We had a great time exploring the trails along the ocean and going into Bar Harbor.
Dispute the rainy weather, this was a relaxing vacation we needed. We enjoyed a camp fire to roast a few marshmallows one evening, while watching fireflies dance in the distance.

This cabin is adorable, cozy, and complete with everything you need. The view from the loft is gorgeous and we had multiple visits from deer. You are in the woods but still a quick walk to Southwest Harbor.

The cabin was a wonderful place to stay away from all the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. It was close enough to all the attractions but offered a nice retreat away from the busyness. The loft bedroom had a great view of the boats in the harbor at sunrise. We would definitely stay here again!

I stayed the week of September 5th with my fiancée at this property and our experience was amazing! The cabin is wonderfully equipped and even more beautiful than the photos show. The loft was awesome and we woke each morning to an awe-inspiring view across the trees to the harbor.
The cabin was clean and set up well for a relaxing week. Of note was the fire pit that we utilized through our stay and had a lot of special night hanging around the fire, making smores and enjoying our time.
The only thing I could be critical about is that the outdoor grill wasn't in fully functioning order. We found that the ignition switch did not work and that some of the propane jets were not working properly. I had to remove the grating to light it and use it (had already bought and prepped the burgers). There were still sections that did not have any propane coming out of them and I think may have been clogged or rusted shut. It worked well enough to cook dinner but it needs some repair.
Overall though, it was a great experience and I would certainly recommend it to others!

The cabin is set back off the Main Street in a wooded section. Great little view from the upstairs bedroom of Southwest Harbor. My family was very happy and comfortable in the house. Arcadia provided mass transport to all over the park, which was accessible from a quick walk to Main Street. You could also walk to restaurants, shopping and the harbor. It is a twenty minute drive to most of the popular spots in the park. The kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom and shower was large enough. We would definitely rent this house again.

We loved our stay at Woodland Cottage. The cottage is in town , but in a quiet, wooded location. The view of the harbor from the loft is just beautiful - especially at sunrise. The firepit area is especially lovely.

Quiet and peaceful
Very enjoyable and peaceful cabin on the quiet side of MDI. The views from the picture window at sunrise were great. We didn't need to interact much with Vicki because everything was provided for, but she was always accomodating and quick to respond.

A week vacation on MDI
This property was everything and more we could have hoped for. No detail was left out. The location is quieter than Bar Harbor but has its own little area feel with restaurants and shops.
Hosts are only one house away and could not have been more helpful when we needed them, but invisible if we didn’t.
A real gem of a find. It truly is a house in the woods but also in town where you can get anything you might need.

Cozy home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cute house. It's nestled in a quiet woods with wild life (turkeys and deer) right outside our windows. A beautiful view of a harbor from the loft bedroom. Comfortable beds and chairs, although the couch (futon) wasn't very comfortable. It was in a central location to all we wanted to do and see. We would definitely stay here again!!
