CASA IRENE - SORRENTO AREA

Casa Irene is a modern two bedrooms apartment with private swimming pool located in the upper part of Sorrento, within walking distance (approximately 20 minutes) to the lively centre of the town, where guests can enjoy an abundance of restaurants and open air bars. The main street has all the famous designer labels and the late opening schedule, so that you will always have time for shopping. Meander through little alleyways where and find many quaint stores selling everything from typical Sorrento souvenirs like 'Limoncello' to local craftsman selling paintings and local crafts. Explore the history and museums and capture the amazing scenery.

This 2 bedroom apartment boasts some of the most spectacular views of the Gulf of Naples and Sorrento. A great advantage is the large spacious terrace that extends around the main house with outdoor dining area and pizza oven. Perfect for al fresco dining. From the parking area, approximately 15 steps will take you to the private pool area and terrace which is furnished with patio furniture, pool table and private swimming pool (depth from 1.4m to 2.4m; approx. 12 sq. m; open from April 1 until October 31) with sunbeds. Here you will also find a heated outdoor shower.

From the pool area you enter the house through a private entrance which leads to the spacious kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle. From the kitchen access to the dining and living area with sofas, a fireplace and dining table and chairs, direct access to your own large private terrace and outdoor dining area. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with Satellite TV and French doors leading to the private terrace. Two extra foldable beds / single sofa bed can be added either to the twin bedroom (in this case the space surrounding the beds is reduced) or to the living room. There is one bathroom with shower. The apartment is fully air-conditioned (except for the kitchen) and it has Wi-Fi internet.

A few steps up from the pool area, there is a one bedroom apartment which overlooks the pool. This apartment is used by a long term renter who does not use the pool or terrace of Casa Irene but passes the pool area to reach the apartment.

The property is about 5 minutes drive away from the centre of Sorrento or 20 minutes walking via a shortcut, with an access road leading to the property which is on an incline, therefore a small car (Opel Corsa size, or similar) is recommended. Because the apartment is located on a hill, we do not recommend it to people with walking difficulties if you do not have a car.

Facilities: private swimming pool (open from April 1 until October 31), Satellite TV, WIFI internet, air conditioning (except for the kitchen), external shower, laundry service (extra cost), shared washing machine (usable from 8pm)

Please Note: No extra guests (apart those who have checked in and showed their passports) are allowed in the apartment and all common areas. Music can be played with an appropriate volume from 9:00am till 1:30pm and from 4:00om till 11:30pm.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the pool table and foosball table seen in the photos are temporarily not available due to the fact that the cloth has been damaged by a previous client.

Smoking is not allowed inside the house, only on the terraces.

The apartment is more on the rustic side and the interior and fittings may not be the most premium quality, but the pool and views from the large and usable outdoor space are perfect, and early morning swims, sunbathing and evening cocktails are unlikely to be accompanied by views as beautiful as found here, across the bay to Vesuvius. Check in and out involved a few messages but was otherwise smooth. As listed and all reviews say, the property is up a steep and narrow hill, and a car larger than a fiat 500 will not get all the way there (suggest parking near the Hilton and walking up if you're driving and can manage). The walk to the town is via a picturesque cobbled footpath beneath lemon trees and again hilly, which helps to walk off the delicious evening meals on the return journey. It takes about 20 mins and once there, the town is beautiful, vibrant, clean and welcoming. If you don't mind working a bit for the overall experience and views from the pool and outdoor spaces, then go for it.

Overall, I was happy with the property. The location was perfect and the views were AMAZING. There is a walk into town which is primarily downhill, so the walk home is a bit steep, but that's why the views are so perfect - because you're high up. The sweet doggie (Cheecha) in the home below was also definitely a highlight. I would have given five stars, except the pillows were hard and flat, the towels were thin and cheap (and you only get one towel per guest to use for the pool and the shower), the mattress on the bed was mediocre and the plug behind the microwave was loose and scary looking. For the cost of staying here, it would have been nice to have a better quality towel and a comfortable pillow. Having said all that, I would stay here again.

From booking, pre arrival info, check in and check out the whole experience was very easy. The friendly Michelangelo was there to greet us and on hand to offer restaurant recommendations, help with booking excursions and any issues during our stay. The villa is very well equiped, comfortable and very spacious. The walk to and from Sorrento and drive up to the property is very steep and narrow, as described on the website, so a small car is a must if hiring one and/or only for the fit. Had a great time.

Beautiful location!

The location is stunning with a view over Sorrento downtown, Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The road to get to the house is narrow and steep as it is shown by the owner but we enjoyed it. It’s definitely something uncommon, a good excercise and the views compensate it for sure :) The furnishing looks a little different than in the pictures but it’s still a comfortable place for 4-5 people. The town of Sorrento is beautiful and historically very interesting. It’s also a great location for any trips, like Naples, Amalfi Coast, etc. Greatly recommended!

The apartment and views were fantastic ! The only problem was the access to the property. The description regarding the access road was very vague! You DO need a small car to get from the main road to the apartment ! It is a 15 minute hike up a series of steep hills! It is not suitable without a car for a young family or older people. Otherwise it was a beautiful property and very well maintained !

The outdoor space was incredible with 5 seating areas and breathtaking views over Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius. Walking up and down the hill from the villa was strenuous and we are a youngish, fit and active family but the climb was well worth it for the views from the villa. The inside was clean and welcoming with enough space for 5 of us.
