About this house rental
Cute house (right half of duplex) on the ocean side of Route 1. Renting for the summer on a weekly basis - weekly rental Sat to Sat. Off season two night minimum. Two bedrooms, two baths, large deck, washer-dryer. The house is two levels with a bedroom/bathroom and deck upstairs, a bedroom/bathroom, living room and kitchen downstairs Kitchen is complete with oven, stove, full sized refrigerator and dishwasher. Unit has two reserved parking spaces next to the house. Upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed. Downstairs bedroom has bunks with a full bed and a twin bed. Wireless Internet and satellite TV is included. TVs are in the upstairs bedroom and in the living room. We ask that you bring your own sheets and towels. This home is central in Dewey, near the Starboard, and steps from the beach. House is on a quiet corner of New Orleans street and offers much more space and privacy than any standard hotel or condo. Dogs are welcomed - requires an additional $50 non-refundable pet cleaning fee. Sorry no Senior Week rentals.

Absolutely a great location! House was clean! Host J.D. is awesome at communicating!

So this review is hopefully help people decide if this place is for you with pros and cons of the duplex. First it is just as pictured, the furniture in particular the patio/deck furniture is rusted badly and the living room tables are very worn but nothing to the point to interfere with the place. Location is just off route 1 costal highway so Saturday night was really rough with traffic noise until 2am with motorcycles going by every couple of minutes but the other nights were much more quiet. That being said the location cannot be beat with so many food and souvenir stores to go to within a 4-5 minute drive walk. Sandy pony donuts is a must go to they are to die for, rusty rudder for a nice sit down dinner on the bay is perfect and vanderwender for the best ice cream! It is only a couple minutes walk to the beach and you don’t have to cross route 1, which is a huge bonus!!! The location really CANNOT be beat so if you don’t mind things a little dated for a perfect location this is your spot. Also I took my dog with and she was able to enough the beach herself being that Dewey is dog friendly is a massive plus!!! All in all the pros definitely out weighed the cons and it was a PERFECT vacation!!!!!!

We had a short, two light stay last minute due to our Europe trip being cancelled. We stayed in the off season, but was a fantastic trip. The condo was perfect and great that we could bring our dogs. Beach and plenty of restaurants all within a block. Close to rehobeth inlet and outlets and also close to Bethany. Overall very pleased and would stay here for an entire week.

My husband and I had a great time in Dewey as always (until the tropical storm ended our beach time). We've been renting from J.D. for many years (even before the renovations). J.D. is always responsive. The place is awesome, clean, and fits our needs perfectly. The location is great. A half block walking distance to the beach and to several restaurants and entertainment spots. We always have a great time and love being able to bring our dog who LOVES playing on the beach.

In need in comfort upgrades. Sofa very uncomfortable. wood support/frame prominante while sitting. microwave takes time to fiquire out how to use and is large and bulky occupies alot of needed counter space. first floor shower is dinky small an hard to use even for smaller sized person. Do not try to start the shower and then get in you will wash the whole bathroom. This place is Not an option to use for family that is medically unable to ambulate stairs. Showers have no place to hang or place wash cloths while showering. Went during the off season and good coffee places were not open during the visit had to make due with the appliances on site. Both coffe makers were filthy. Just bring your own. Parking is a joke. Eaily boxed in I'm sure when its the busy season. This place has a great location and the beach is awsome and that's about it.

The biggest attraction is the short walk to the beach and to the heart of the town. The house is set back from New Orleans street making it quieter, but eliminating the opportunity to interact with passers by while relaxing on the deck. The renovations are great and the property is very clean! The kitchen is big enough and the air-conditioning is first rate having simple remote controls for each area. The drawbacks are the deflated couch and the small beds in the upstairs master bedroom. Overall, we enjoy our time there and would return again next season.

We had a little trouble gaining access, because I didn't know that the owner would send a separate email with the info. I assumed everything would come from the VRBO app as all the ones I had rented in the past. Once we got that sorted out, the place was fine for the weekend and was close to the beach which is what we wanted.

Walking distance to the beach!
This property is advertised for 6 people, however, it would better suited for 4 people. There are 2 bedrooms, so it's tight for 6 people (especially 6 adults). The kitchen is tiny, but it is good enough to prepare breakfast and lunch. There are 2 bathrooms with showers and a small living room. JD is a great host and the convenience to the beach and downtown Dewey is awesome! You don't need your car once you're there!

Beach and dog lovers
We rented this house with our small dog for long weekend. The communication with host was quick, easy and helpful from beginning to end. The house is clean, small and minimalistic. The proximity to dog friendly beach and a beautiful beach at that was amazing. We found that no regular tv but having to use youtube for basic tv a big turnoff. Overall the stay was very good.

Location, Location, Location!
This was our second time renting this property. The place is exactly as advertised. The house is in an excellent location and is just what we needed. Steps to the beach and steps to great restaurants. The house was clean on arrival and the space was perfect. We utilized the kitchen majority of our stay which had all the essential items needed to make a meal. J.D. gave us valuable information about Dewey's off season dog policy and we were able to bring our dog along! Looking forward to booking again!

Great location, quiet area in off-season, very basic
Good townhouse type place for about 3 or 4 people. I think more than 4 would be cramped unless you only plan to be here to sleep. There was an issue with an ac unit leaking water that seemed to be going on for a long time before we got there so the place felt a little damp, I alerted the owner about it so hopefully it will be fixed for the next person. Parking is fine in the off season, but during the busy season I imagine you will have a hard time squeezing in due to proximity of other cottages.
Beds were pretty firm, furniture has stains (but hey it's pet friendly just so you know), the back of the house is near some dumpsters for two restaurants so the employees make a loud racket throwing bags into it around 11pm. You can look down at the dumpsters from the rear of the balcony but the front part you can see the roof tops of the beachfront houses so that's better. Overall, basic spot, you're paying to be ocean-block side and being able to walk everywhere is awesome.

Great stay!
The place was exactly as described and JD was super responsive over email when needed. It was great to be within walking distance of so many restaurants as well as the beach and have a place we could stay with our dogs, which were able to join us at the beach because it was the off season (we stayed end of Sept/early Oct). Hope to make this an annual vacation and would be more than pleased to stay at this property again if we do.

Cramped Duplex behind Restaurant
First the Parking; Good luck getting two cars on this property during the summer, with the other half of the duplex taking spots, and the properties around you (behind) taking spots you will be trapped knocking on doors when you have to get out, if you have a truck forget it, two mid size vehicles forget it, the neighbors park so far on your side (because of angle) you will not get two in. Then you have to back out over 80 yards making for an interesting process getting in and out.
Once in the duplex the space is tight, if you have small children, pets with small legs, or any elderly forget it; the steps are out of a "home alone scene" extremely steep, extremely!
The upstairs bedroom has a hodgepodge of beds that resemble a homing shelter.
The downstairs shower in not for adults, you will not be able to turn around, smaller than a sleeping capsule in Japan.
The back door of the property is a total loss, it faces the back of restaurant where the trash is thrown and the employees gather to smoke.
The front of the property is on top of additional properties.
Don't mention you have a pet (if small) when asked "who will be staying with us" the owner throws on additional pet and cleaning charges!
The surrounding properties that will trap you in so you cannot leave are also rented, so if they like to party you will also be partying with them all night, because you will pass 5 properties on your way in.
During our stay we had an AC unit that leaked (these units are in each room), we did not complain because the situation was manageable. I get home to the owner JD asking me what temp we had set and if I knew the the unit leaked! never asked how the stay was!
This place is below average at best, I would not recommend this property.

Wonderful location--steps from the beach and right across the street from the Starboard. Property was clean and well-kept. My only complaint was the downstairs bed (bottom full-size bunk) was horrendously uncomfortable. If you have a mattress pad to bring along with you, I would do so. I can also see how the next-door restaurant would be noisy during the high season. It was fine during our stay, but something to consider, especially if you stay there with children.

Staying at Dewey Beach during the week of 9/28/2020
We stayed at this property with our dog Teddy during the last week of September 2020. This was our first visit to the Dewey beach and greatly enjoyed the beautiful beach as well as the location of the property. The owner J.D. was always promptly responded to our question and was very kind to accommodate our request to check out at a later time. We would definitely go back to this place.
