Welcome to Mermaid Memories on Folly Beach! This fantastic 3 bedroom 3 bath oceanfront beach home has just been completely renovated. Located on Folly's private West end of the island is the perfect spot for the family summer vacation or long weekend getaway. Nature is abound at this end of the island with dolphin "beaching" encounters as they chase their prey at the county park as well as the chance to witness nesting loggerhead turtles first hand. The owners have spared no expense in turning the home into a upgraded modern beach home while preserving the feel of a classic beach cottage. Ocean views from almost every room in the house will provide the perfect backdrop for a perfect vacation.
Upon entering the home you will appreciate the open floor plan with ocean views around every corner. The kitchen includes all of the modern conveniences of home and has been stocked with all of the amenities even the most discerning family chef would require including Ninja blender, panini maker, waffle maker and Keurig coffee maker! Breakfast bar overlooks the dining area and living room area and provides a seamless transition from one gathering spot to the next. The dining room includes large dining table for the family to gather after a long day on the beach as well as a kids table. Living room features large flat-screen TV for the rare rainy day and large comfy couches to relax on after a long day in the sun.
The oceanfront sunroom is the favorite room in the house and is only separate from the living area by large sliding glass doors. The sunroom has fantastic ocean views and includes 2 twin day beds perfect for a late afternoon nap or spot to catch up on your favorite book. The sunroom provides oceanfront porch access where 2 large palm trees provide natural shade that remind you why you came on vacation in the first place. Numerous outdoor seating options provided on the oceanfront deck will allow everyone to have the best seat in the house for the stunning Folly sunrises and sunsets over the Atlantic. Oceanfront deck connects to the boardwalk, leading you straight onto the beach.
The three bedrooms all have new bedding and new high grade linens. The master includes king bed and private access to the sunroom. Master has attached master bath for the head of the family. The second bedroom includes two bunk beds with both the top and bottom bunks housing queen size beds. Second bedroom has close access to full bathroom off hallway connecting the bedroom and living area. The third bedroom features a king bed with private deck access and comes with a full private bath. The home comfortably sleeps a total of 12 with 2 in the master, 8 in the second bedroom, 2 in the third bedroom and then 2 extra spots on the day beds in the sunroom.
Mermaid Memories includes all of the modern conveniences you would expect in a high-end rental. High efficiency washer and dryer, dishwasher, HD TV's with YouTubeTV in living room and master as well as free WIFI. The home is very child friendly with step stool in bathroom, child's table with two chairs and bench, pack n/play, and restaurant style wood high chair. Home also features an outdoor shower underneath the home, as well as a shower rinse off on the boardwalk. Home is strictly not pet-friendly and non-smoking. Owners, Rad and Joyce Finch, from Iowa have six adult children and 12 grandkids ages 1 year to age 19. Joyce's annual Folly Beach tradition began in July 1968. Only the year of Hurricane Hugo kept her away. Purchasing this special home in 2015 made it possible to share the Folly experience and joy with many other families. Let me start by saying the location of the house is great. The deck is perfect, but my family enjoys sitting on the porch and listening to the waves and we couldn’t do that. There is a large machine on the beach that runs nonstop. The noise is absolutely unnerving. We should have been told about this. This was our family vacation for the year and could not enjoy being outside. Also, the house decorations are so outdated. There are stuffed dolls hanging in every corner of the sun room. The dining room table has a plastic table cloth with plastic mats. None of the wall pictures match just random things hung. The dishes were dirty. There are small rugs everywhere. The large rugs are dirty. The garbage was overflowing when we got there. And was that way for 3 days. Rats were in it one night. Overall not satisfied.

Perfect place for us all to gather. Loved the beach walks, sunrises. Hired a chef one night to serve us dinner and ate by the water. Thank you for great memories.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay! House was close to everything we needed and it was the perfect spot on the beach. We rode bikes to breakfast each morning and thoroughly enjoyed the house..especially the sunroom! Already planning to go back!

Staying at Mermaid memories was such a joy. The back porch and view of the ocean was breathtaking. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Getting to walk right down to the beach each morning with our three kids was priceless. The house was clean and comfortable and very homey. We cooked in the kitchen each night of our stay and it was so easy ! We found shark teeth and hermit crabs on the beach and enjoyed the tide going in and out each day. We very much look forward to staying at Mermaid memories again !

One of the best houses we’ve ever rented. The view of the ocean from the sunroom and deck is amazing. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had two oceanfront king suites. The kitchen was well stocked. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate so we’re ready to go back.

The house was perfect! Big enough to fit the family and feel like we all had our own spaces/bathrooms. Far enough away from the pier to basically have the beach to yourself on multiple occasions, but close enough to walk along the beach to dinner every night. Was awesome to rent some beach gear, went paddle boarding, saw dolphins sitting on the deck. Would recommend!

Beautiful home right on the beach. We had a wonderful time as a family gathering sea shells, soaking up some sun, shopping in town , and spending time touring Charleston. Would stay here again, no questions.

The house is very well equipped. The enclosed porch and the open deck are great. There is also attractive artwork on the walls. The ocean is just steps away.
There is a second (smaller but adequate) refrigerator on the porch. which is handy.
I recommend it for groups that want a 2 bedroom house.

Stayed here for New Year’s Week with our family of 4 - my husband and 2 daughters (13 and 17). The house was perfect- stocked with everything you could possibly need and even things you didn’t know you needed! The sunroom was the perfect place to sit and read and look out on the ocean. And the location could not be beat. The house is on a beautiful stretch of beach, about a 15 min walk into “town”. Having quarantined in our house for months it was just nice to be in this beautiful location away from home!

Amazing quiet New Year’s Week with the family.!
Stayed here for New Year’s Week with our family of 4 - my husband and 2 daughters (13 and 17). And the location could not be beat. The house is on a beautiful stretch of beach, about a 15 min walk into “town”. Great getaway during pandemic.
House was clean and the perfect size for my wife and I to safely spend a few days away from all the troubles of the world. Mermaid Memories could have easily accommodated more people, but it was nice keeping it cozy. DH

Perfect beach bungalow
This sweet home has the best view at Folly Beach. It looks exactly like the pictures on the website. It was extremely clean and well maintained. It had every comfort you could possibly need. I would highly recommend this home!

Overall, we were extremely satisfied with the property. Location was amazing!!! looking at that ocean all day/night was breath-taking!!! it had all the comforts of home. My only issue was with the cleanliness in the kitchen.. The top of the refrigerator was very dirty/dusty/greasey. When we pulled down an appliance we had to wash it. There were several pieces of silverware/dishware that was not clean/still had dried food on it. Pantry closet in kitchen had onion skins on floor - didn't look like the closed had been swept out from the previous renters.

Amazing Beach House & Location
The property was amazing. The property had a ton of extra touches. Hats, beach gear, kitchen items, first aide kit, blankets, .....there was no need to bring anything extra. We just loved this property. Close enough to the pier and far enough away that the beaches were not crowded. 5 Star Vacation.

We had a fantastic stay at Mermaid Memories. Perfect location and a great house for young ones, there’s a great tide pool out front! Lots of shark teeth to find. Everyone loved outdoor showers! Can’t wait to book again next year

Perfect in every way!
Family of 7 with 5 kids from 18 months to 11 yrs old. This was our first ACTUAL vacation as a family, and it did NOT disappoint! Perfect location, well-stocked kitchen (which we used a ton), great washer and dryer (which we also used a ton) and so much more. The queen bunk beds were perfect for the 4 older kids. We just can't say enough good about this house! Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic beach front cottage
Wow. Mermaid Memories was a great 2 bedroom right on the beach. We were able to watch the sunrise directly on our deck or just a few short steps to the beach. The beach is nice and wide (even wider at low tide). This had to be one of the best equipped kitchens we have seen. We used the grill several nights (a nice touch). Very spacious for 4 people that could easily accommodate 6 people (maybe 8 if there were young children). Its just a short drive into Charleston which you don't want to miss. We would definitely rent Mermaid Memories again.

Great location and easy for families
We loved Mermaid Memories. Easy and fun for families. Lots of beach toys, and kids loved the bunks beds. There were beach towels available even though we were originally told there were not. There weren’t any extra toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex or extra garbage bags do you have to buy your own. Was a little skimpy on that but everything else was nice, plenty of bath towels and shampoo.

Absolutely amazing!
This property has everything you could ask for when renting at Folly. You can’t beat the location and the relaxing views. The house is set up perfectly for the kids to sleep soundly in their huge room while the adults can still enjoy some time on the deck at night watching the stars. It was well equipped and didn’t lack any supplies you needed to get started. The two outdoor showers were awesome and there is plenty of parking for family/friends coming to use the beach. Our family of four absolutely loved it! We hope to be back next year!
