Loved the property and the decor. Great spot for a family key’s vacation. Even got to hang out with the local iguanas at the pool.

Good location, the beds were comfortable, the house was clean, plenty of room for All of us.

The house was as described and in a very convenient location. We were told to leave the home at 80 degrees and this explains why it took so long to make it comfortably cool the first day. One thing that could be improved would be to provide more beach chairs and not only low sand chairs—these are difficult for elderly people to use. It would have been nice to have a beach umbrella for some protection from the sun. We bought one and left it at the house—so you’re welcome for that!

Fun in Florida
Let's start with the positive. This is a great location, so easy to get to and close to grocery and restaurants. I enjoyed the walking/bike path and walked every morning down to Sombrero Beach which is lovely. Lot's of kids though. We really enjoyed having the pool and the dock on the canal. Although, the resident to the right as you face the canal has some very loud grandchildren. I'm talking about screaming and fighting for a full hour before an adult stepped in. Adults were present just not involved. Lastly, the accommodations were roomy for 6 adults. Now the negative........this place is really dirty. We weren't completely shocked since we had read the negative reviews concerning cleanliness. When we checked in I received a text asking about cleanliness and I gave a rating much higher than I should have. Toilets were clean and sinks were clean. The furniture inside and out was really dirty. Kitchen cabinets had crumbs and food inside. Baseboards were gross with dust bunnies and hair along with vents and fan covers. I think the cleaning company just sweeps whatever is on the floor under the furniture because if you get down on the floor and look it's pretty disgusting. One of the couples had to wash their blankets because they were stained and not clean. I slept in the Master Bedroom and immediately noticed that the bed did not have a mattress cover/pad on it. I checked the other beds and they all had covers. This seemed odd to me. After a few nights I felt like I was being eaten alive by bugs. Of course, I expected bugs outside but not inside. I probably had 50 bug bites. I began to look around the bed and the nightstand and noticed teeny tiny little bugs crawling everywhere. I have video. So, I decided to strip the bed and wash everything. We killed the bugs we could see and sprayed along baseboards. When I moved the nightstand I saw that there was food under it that the bugs were attracted to. Now for the worst part. When I stripped the bed I saw a relatively large diarrhea stain on the mattress. This was quite distressing to me. I decided to call the number for management that was left on the refrigerator. All I wanted was a mattress cover. I spoke with a very nice lady, her name is Sandra. She agreed that this was a valid request and told me that someone would bring one out and took my phone number so that I could be contacted before they entered the rental. No one ever came or tried to contact me.

The house is nice and clean. The ac right outside the door is loud. We rented kayaks but the dock doesn’t have steps. Also it’s not a quick walk to the beach it’s 1.3 miles which was disappointing. The house isn’t where it’s advertised as being located

Marathon Vacation
I was concerned about the readiness for our arrival after some negative reviews. However, the house was very clean and everything in order. For the most part we had 4 adults and one child staying. We had the remainder of the family join us for the last two days (2 adults, 2 kids). Everything was perfect. I would recommend a list of areas of interest to put on the refrigerator or a notebook, such as the boat launch, area restaurants, the fishery, 7 mile bridge, etc.

LITTLE SLICE OF PARADISE
Great location easy access to everything we needed, many within walking distance. This home is well equipped, clean and comfortable. We had no complaints, caught plenty of fish off the dock. The community path and park make for a good morning walk or ride. Will looking to book again next year.

Where to begin?
1. Upon arriving, I texted rental company to be sure that the key code for front door was changed. The answer I received was that codes are generally changed. Um, this is a yes or no answer which they could not or would not provide. There is no secondary lock on the door so this made me nervous. We ended up sleeping with the bedroom door closed and locked every night. Not very comforting when you just need a pin key to open.
2.The house is not professionally cleaned or sanitized. If by some small chance it was professionally cleaned, the owners need to fire the company immediately. The sink drains were dirty and stinky, nothing a little pour of bleach didn’t fix. Most surfaces covered in dust, cobwebs, dustwebs, and dirt. The base boards and barstool wall are dirty and have food particles stuck to them. Cabinets had crumbs, washer had hair ball stuck in drum sticking out, and the upstairs patio had pooled water with mold under the table. We were able to sweep off the water and pour bleach over the patio to scrub. Couch cushions dirty as well. Hair in bathtubs. One tub constantly drips. Patio cushions dirty. Plan on doing more than lite cleaning upon arrival.
3. The bugs! There were sugar ants everywhere. Cabinets, outside and on top of fridge, floor, walls, crawling on you while sitting on the couch. Large fire ants in master bedroom and bath. I ended up with 17 painful bites. We went to the store and bought ant/roach spray to do all cabinets and baseboards. We stored all of our food in the fridge.
4. The a/c went out. Spent an entire night awake and sweating. The rental company gave out the key code to the door to the HVAC company. The A/C guys just walked into the house while I was sitting at my computer. So now there is another person with the key code. Insanity and highly unprofessional.
The house is large and the décor is lovely. It is perfect for large groups looking to let loose. The house is on a street with 30 or more rentals and it gets loud. So loud that I needed ear plugs to relax at the pool. I could not hear my own music over the house next door. The walls are thin too and as soon as the neighbors entered their pool at 7 am we could hear them through our bedroom walls. The 2 bikes are broken down and one has a hole in the tire. The grill is rusted out and has holes in the bottom.
We chose this house because we wanted a break from hotels and the loud crowded pools. We did not get the relaxing time we had envisioned. We ended up driving home a night early just to put the experience behind us.
Safety and cleanliness is not a priority for this company. Very alarming. The management company is not doing this rental any justice.

Great location
The first part of this is how the home is being managed. I am going to talk about the not good and end with the great. We arrived to this home to find food wiped on the couch, dirty walls, filthy front door, dirty dishes placed into the cupboards, some of the rooms had dirty sheets, dirty or stained blankets on the bed. We had ants throughout the entire home both inside and outside. We had a dead dove that had been there for quite some time on the upper deck in front of the master bedroom. We called and left text messages for VACASA to please send out someone to pick up the dead bird. Perhaps that is why there are ants everywhere? We couldn’t use the upper deck until the bird was picked up because it smelled like death. After our 3rd day at the home a delightful maintenance worker arrived to pick up the dead bird. There were 2” maggots eating the bird. The upper deck has mold or algae under the table. When it rains, water pools up and the stuff chips off and covers your feet. The downstairs patio has a ripped chaise lounge chair and the ground and pillars are crawling with ants. I should send management the pictures of everyone’s ant bites.
Finally, on the last full day of our vacation, Megan from Vacasa, sent me a text message to find out if water had been running. The story I was told is the water company called the home owner and said water was running 24 hrs a day. We checked anywhere there could be water on. One bathtub has a constant little leak. I sent Megan a video of that. She said that wouldn’t be enough for the water company to call the owner. I explained the home had 9 people in it for a week. We were washing dishes, taking showers and washing clothes since we had been there. She said, well I might have someone come out there to take a look. That is super irritating and we did not want to be bothered by having maintenance come out again.
Now onto the great stuff. The home is in a great location. Close to the market and the beach. We brought paddle boards and went out everyday. The dock does not have a ladder so we had to time our adventures with the tide. We fished everyday from the dock and swam everyday in the pool. A few of our party would go out on the “new” bikes and explore the island. The home was large enough to bring 2 families that have been best friends for 30 years together and have a great weekend. In spite of the cleanliness of the home, it is beautifully decorated and was comfortable.
Just keep up on the cleaning and ants and you would receive repeat customers.

Nice condo on canal but lacking many of the small necessities
The house was very nice but lacked a dryer, which I believe impacted the lack of dish towels, hand towels, etc. that are normally washed and dried at condo. We had to buy our own towels etc., not acceptable when you consider the price we paid for this condo! A dryer was finally delivered the last day of stay.

Great Home
Stayed for the first week in May at this new home and all was good as was expected. The rooms were all pretty large we had 7 guests with plenty of room. The pool was nice at the end of the Hot days but was too warm heater wasn’t needed. The dock was nice but it’s a very long ride out to main area by boat. All in All we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this Home.

All 8 adults had a great time. We loved the home. We are already thinking about next year! Small things would be more silverware and more pillows for the beds. These aren’t seal breakers though. We loved the house.

Sombrero Beach
We very much enjoyed our stay near Sombrero Beach - the BEST beach in the Keys! Home is a 20 min walk to beach and very convenient to Publix plaza. The property is very spacious and has dock access to canal. Home could use more kitchen items to help with cooking. Also, cleaning could have been better prior to us moving in for the week. Overall, would recommend this property given great location and above average space and quality.
