Very nice, centrally located house with very kind owners, definitely recommended

Family house is a very basic guest house but rooms are equipped with all the facilities that are need for a short stay. The best thing about this house is that it is centrally located and very very near to pretty much every worth-seeing place in Aveiro. The owners (the couple) is very very humble and generous. They speak and understand English and make you feel that their house is your house and thats what makes the name of the house justified. Breakfast is amazing, fresh, diverse and delicious.

The owners are really lovely and work very hard to keep everything clean, tidy and organized. The breakfast is generous and very tasty and the building is in a fantastic location.

There’s an electric fragrance device in the front entrance that pumps out a dreadful, powerful smell and this hit me as soon as we walked in the door. The bed is small, but comfortable. There is no extractor fan or window in the bathroom and this is revolting, especially considering how tiny the bedroom is! There is no aircon so the room is very hot and stuffy, even with the window open.

location and the super nice accommodating hosts. it was also super clean!

loud. inside and out. walls were thin and we could hear people showering next door at 23:30 like they were in our room. with window open it was loud all night long with people walking by the alley way. also smokers at nearby coffee shop came into the opened window room.

Very nice experience in Aveiro

Perfect location, in the city center of Aveiro. Small but well equipped bed and breakfast (it is classified as a hostel, but it is more a small B&B) . Small but super cute and clean rooms. The bathroom was INSIDE the room. Very kind owner. Tasty breakfast. Strongly recommend

The host was very nice and recommended us an amazing local restaurant only few steps away from the hotel. They were also very kind to store our bags after check out and regional breakfast. The room wasn't too cold despite our stay being in December, though the room's heater perfectly battled the little cold we experienced.

Clean room, friendly hosts, good breakfast - what more could you ask for? The accommodation is also close to the center, the friendly host can give good information about the city. I'd love to come back if the opportunity arises.

Not great, but probably the best budget option in overpriced Aveiro.

Aveiro is a tourist trap, more expensive than most places in Portugal. Family House is probably the best budget option. The two other reasonably priced places get miserable reviews. Family House is very clean, and I believe the couple that own it try to run a good place. It also is in a great location.

It is hard to write this review while sitting in a spectacular room in Figueira da Foz for the same price. Family House is miles below this standard. The thing that bothered me from the start is that the description makes it sound like the bathrooms are en-suite. They're not. Your private bathroom is across the hall. That might not have been a big deal, but the locks and keys in the place are very hard to operate. And you need them to lock from both sides. My memories of the place will always be fumbling with those keys. Also, hostels tend to be friendly places. Most of the time I like the privacy of a hotel, but when I stay in a hostel, I expect some interaction. That was not the case here. I never had a conversation with anyone. And most of the time when I returned, nobody was there. I much preferred the 3 star hotel, again for the same price, I stayed at in Viseu, my stop before Aveiro. The friendly guy at receptionist always gave me a nice greeting and was there for questions, recommendations or a laugh. There was a comfy bar area. There was none of that at Family House.

Perfect place in Aveiro

Everything was fine. Easy check-in procedure and very friendly lady. The location is really good for exploring the city centre of Aveiro and there is a good coffee shop downstairs.

It´s a nice hostel in a interesting town. It´s centrally located and you get everywhere on foot. It´s very quiet. The owners were friendly and helpful, and if you have any questions they will always help you. We had a good size room for 3 adults and a dog, which might seem quite tight, though we managed well. There is a reception area where you can work or have you meal.

The door to the bathroom got stuck, so if you wanted to go to the bathroom at night (at any time really), it made a lot of noise which woke up everyone else in the room, so maybe fixing it would be a great idea.

Breakfast not included. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Location is excellent, but this is not without caveats which can be averted with standard mitigating measures.

It's nearly impossible to have a restful night sleep with summer weather. The rooms aren't equipped with aircon, which means that windows must be kept open to let fresh air in, so you can hear the constant noise from people on the street throughout the whole of the night. This is particularly a nuisance during weekends.

The location is great, you are in the middle of the old town and close to everything you want to explore Aveiro. Next to the Family house is an awesome Cafe that you have to visit when you stay there. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

what we didn’t know beforehand was that the bathroom was across the room and not attached to the room, so we had to get out of the room and just across the hall. We stayed there for only one night and it was ok, even if we bumped into other guests, but it would bother me for longer. the breakfast was rustic, almost no vegan option and the coffee didn’t really taste like coffee

Really nice staff taking care of everything and the place is really neat and clean. It was everything really confortable.

The hotel itself was excellent, because of our car we had to pay 14€ of parking for the night.

Cozy place to stay

Very friendly and politely hosts, cozy room, good breakfast (a good range of food in comparison to similar stays in Portugal - fruits, yoghurt, bread, cheese and a bit more). Very good location and close to the bus stop to the beach (on the other hand as of the location you need of course to be aware that it is a bit louder in the night, but not to much as the house is not located directly to a big street).

Very nice family room in the center of Aveiro. Nice size bathroom with clean towels available. Very nice and friendly stuff. Room for a family or a group of friends. Beds very comfortable, and the bunk bed was stable and useful.

Maybe would be good to include some instructions on where/how to park nearby. We ended up parking in a garage nearby for the overnight because we were not sure of the options.
