We decided to take a week to explore Portland while our grade-school-age son was on spring break this year. This detached unit was the perfect spot for that -- it's just as beautiful, quiet, and comfortable as the pictures indicate. And unlike a lot of similar rentals, it doesn't feel cookie-cutter at all -- you can see the attention to detail and homey touches throughout.
The neighborhood is a charmer for sure, and it left us feeling like we could choose our own adventure every day -- either exploring this corner of SE Portland, taking the bus into Portland proper, or picking up a Zipcar to range farther afield for day trips. We would happily stay here again!

This was my second time staying at the eco-cottage and it was great! The cottage is beautifully constructed and a perfect place for 1 adult as well as a 16 year old experiencing the big city for the first time. Easy walk to Hawthorne Street where a lot is happening, and quick trip into downtown Portland for sightseeing and work meetings. Bonus - we had an electric car rental and needed to charge up overnight which we were able to do at the location as the property owner has their own electric car - I was very grateful to be able to use it. Thank you!

My wife and I and 17 year old had a great stay. Hosts were very welcoming and responsive to minor issues (light bulbs out and missing kitchen utensil). I would stay here again.

My parents stayed in this unit over a weekend and found it to be one of the best places they have stayed. Well done and clean. We will rent this house again!

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay here while we moved her back into her dorm. Lots of room for the two of us. Everything is so new, fresh and clean in the cottage. Super comfortable beds. Convenient laundry (not huge machines but very capable). We met one of the owners and their cute dog. Communication with owner was very easy and quick prior to booking and through out our stay. We always found parking right in front or close by. The location is AMAZING. So many restaurants and shops nearby within walking distance. Will definitely rebook the next time we need to stay in Portland.
*Notes about the accessibility of walkway are accurate. We were able to lug large duffels and boxes from the car without incident. Though, if you have mobility issues this might be a concern.

The home is so comfortable and has everything you need to feel at home away from home. The neighborhood is gorgeous and walkable to many restaurants and other attractions. Dan was responsive and accommodating. We highly recommend a visit here!

Just perfect for what we wanted, getting together with NY son and his partner.
Ductless AC i n each room, and a large kitchen, living area with windows in 4 directions downstairs. Comfy couch, and a dining table seating 6.
We never really used the kitchen since the neighborhood has a lot of excellent restaurants, most with delivery service.
The only down side was parking, but we always found spots within a short distance, and the owner let us use his driveway for loading and unloading, and once over night.

Wonderful property, sweet and available hosts, very comfortably appointed home, fun, but still quiet neighborhood and absolutely gorgeous construction.
One note to anyone with mobility needs and/or multiple, heavy suitcases, the path to the entrance isn’t solid. It’s not far though and for us, absolutely worth the extra couple trips at the beginning and end of our stay.
Looking forward to staying here next time we’re in town and highly recommend!

A perfect place for our family to gather for the weekend and celebrate our child’s graduation from PSU. Very pleasant accommodations.

Beautifully constructed cottage. Well-equipped and air-conditioned. Very cozy.

The inside was spotless with great PNW vibes. Everything you could want is in quick walking distance and it was also within a convenient drive to the airport. Our host was so friendly and accommodating. He even helped let us in when we arrived in the dark and gave us some flexibility on checkout time as well. Highly recommend.

The cottage was delightful-- beautifully crafted, set back in quiet backyard with everything we could possibly need ( with the exception of a blender perhaps!). We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to return.

This home has a wonderful feel of Northwest style and craftsman charm. Built with salvaged timber, huge solid beams hold the roof over comfortable open spaces, with soft beds and warm bedrooms. We often found ourselves simply looking around and marveling at the care that went into the building of the space. It is in a word – lovely. And usable. The kitchen and dining space is just right for coffee in the morning or everything you need to make an evening meal. The neighborhood is quiet with friendly neighbors and songbirds, yet only 5 blocks from quirky Hawthorne and 1 – 3 blocks to even quirkier Belmont. Even better was that our hosts graciously let us use their EV charging unit – thank you!

Perfect place to stay and have creature comforts of home while still being in a prime location

Perfect for sightseeing
Wonderful place to stay and travel around Portland and Oregon. Some things that would make the stay easier would be hanging mirrors in the bedrooms to assist in multiple people getting ready. A small rug in front of the shower. Perfect otherwise.

This house is so cute and has the perfect size for 2 people. The Neighbourhood is beautiful, everything is so clean. Thank you so much! I would definitely come back :)

We arrived in need of a LOT of rest after a busy few months. We slept very well- found the beds comfortable. Everything immaculate. Met owner briefly- up to you how much you engage. The neighborhood is leafy with nice sidewalks and interesting shops within walking distance. Great to be able to happily relax ‘at home’. The kids enjoyed the American Netflix

My daughter and I found this to be a cozy “base camp” to explore Portland and the surrounding area. The home and neighborhood are very attractive and the host accommodating. We hiked, biked and shopped, explored wineries and breweries, and had some amazing meals in both the neighborhood restaurants and in the city. I highly recommend it!

We had an amazing stay in the cottage. The location is terrific, being a quick walk to fun restaurants and stores, and the cottage itself is immaculate, beautiful, and inviting. It was a fantastic home base for our Portland stay.
In addition, the owners were amazing. They were very communicative, and when there happened to be a glitch with the smoke detectors, Tami went above and beyond to help us out.
Our stay in Portland was enhanced by our stay in Dan and Tami's cottage. If our travels bring us back to Portland, we would definitely stay here again.

Clean lines, modern and very comfortable. Vegetation around the eco-cottage is landscaped differently than the photo (mixture of shrubs, small trees and grasses) and is quite nice. And, it is walking distance to many restaurants, shopping and services. Driving/parking in the area is congested and much simpler if you have a small vehicle. Easy to visit the more distant sites around the city as place is so centrally located. For those who would miss it, there is no microwave but recycling and composting readily available. Owner responsive but does not hover. We stayed a week and enjoyed ourselves.

A really cute unit. Kitchen and Dining Area light and comfortable.
Checking in and out were a breeze. TV and video options worked well. I like the combination lock on the unit; very easy to use. Lack of parking was an inconvenience, especially in the rain, but our timing must have been good because when unloading/loading the car we were able to find a spot nearby. There were ants in the kitchen and upstairs bathroom, but the owner was aware and had set a trap in the kitchen. He was also quick to respond when I messaged him about it.

Perfect Cottage
This Southeast Portland cottage was perfect for our stay of two adults. The care, thought, and craftsmanship used in building this home shows. The downstairs area includes spacious ceiling height, a complete kitchen and dining space, and tv/hangout area. We had plenty of room to entertain ourselves and a small number of friends. Super-clean. Comfy sleeping spaces, and plenty of closets! The windows are perfectly placed to allow for light, and privacy. The location was convenient (within walking distance) to southeast Portland restaurants, coffee, and shopping. A cozy and peaceful spot for what turned out to be a snowy/rainy long weekend. Thank you!!

Loved it
Dan’s house is beautifully built and so clean and comfortable. The futon is a little uncomfortable so if you have more than four I suggest putting the futon mattress on the floor but otherwise great place and a super great location. Has everything you could want within walking distance.

New, modern, comfortable and close to some great Portland restaurants
This beautifully landscaped eco home in the Belmont neighborhood was the perfect home base from which to explore many amazing hiking trails and beaches. The hosts live next door and were so kind, responsive, and accommodating while also giving us plenty of privacy. The neighborhood had a peaceful, friendly vibe. bedding and beds were so comfortable, and there was plenty of space for us. There are several grocery stores within walking distance as well as some pubs and good restaurants.
