This was our first experience in a yurt. Surprisingly warm and quaint. Easy check in and the host was helpful. As a multiple property owner on VRBO myself I know how challenging it can be to please everyone but i recommend that the owner spend a little time in fixing and updating this property as it’s in need of a little TLC.
For those who wish to get away on a budget, this is a good choice.

Super relaxing, lovely yurt for a short trip to Fairbanks. We were lucky enough to see the aurora from right out front. The location is great, easy access to town for food etc, but removed enough to have a quiet trip.

The property is as described except there is a stairway to the loft instead of a ladder. Great location if you want to be away from town, which we did. Easy drive from town. We had snow so we took advantage of the sleds provided.

Colleen had everything you could possibly need in the yurt. The washer and dryer were super helpful to so you could pack less since you could wash! We loved the deck and the loft upstairs. This yurt is so cozy and comfortable. It was clean, had everything we needed and all of the beds were comfortable. We were amazed at how the heater keeps the whole thing very warm. We loved the view! I would definitely stay here again.

Loved the location. Saw the northern lights better than people were reporting in town. High elevation helped. Saw two moose while we were there too. Enjoyed the hot tub with the kiddos. Amazing fall colors.

Amazing place to stay!! Clean, cozy, peaceful, and unique! The yurt had everything we needed and served as a great place to rest on a long busy vacation. Colleen the property manager was helpful quick to respond and made check in and check out a breeze. I would highly recommend and will definitely stay again if I am in Fairbanks!

The Yurt was amazing and I absolutely loved this experience. It was secluded, but also was close to town. It was well stocked and had all the comforts of home. Colleen was very accommodating with our specific needs. I would highly recommend the yurt to everyone.

Staying in the yurt was such a neat experience! Being outside of town in the hills was relaxing and quiet as we had expected.
The yurt was as described in terms of size. Upon arrival we appreciated the easy check in process and the extra items left for our use. However, the washing machine had been closed and smelled of mildew and there was dirt in the refrigerator. We were able to resolve those issues on our own.
Aside from those two issues that only other improvement to the yurt we feel could have made our stay better was screens doors. Even when following the summertime rules for keeping the yurt cool it was 85 degrees inside when we returned at night. We could open windows and use fans to begin cooling it down. However with the door and the vent at the top of the yurt not having any kind of screen we had mosquitoes each night.
Unfortunately we did run into a major issue during our stay. During our stay we noticed the water appeared to have air in the line and then the water stopped all together. We tried to reach the property owner by phone but she was traveling and responded 7 hours later. We had already moved to a local hotel.
Lessons learned.....
Express concern right away it is the owners job to fix issues
Call VRBO they will relocate you and pay for it (This would have saved us lots of time and money)
Go ahead book the yurt... just learn fro us what to do in case you too would have any issues.

We absolutely loved our stay. The yurt was cozy and clean with views of Denali. My kids loved to sled in the driveway and it's just beautiful and peaceful. Colleen was super helpful and sent me information about the aurora. It was a cloudy night but I was still able to see a faint show of the northern light. This is really the best experience for our family.

Our first stay in a yurt was great! We enjoyed sleeping in the loft for some of the time - very relaxing. It is a beautiful property in a beautiful, private setting. We felt very much at home. And thanks to Colleen for loaning us some snowshoes so we could also try snowshoeing for the first time.

My two adult sons and I spent five nights at the yurt during our visit to Fairbanks. What a great spot! The location is a short bit out of town, up a well-kept mountain road, providing privacy and a feel of really being “away” without sacrificing town amenities. The yurt itself was really cozy and well-equipped and Colleen was great about checking in and giving us heads’ ups on the Aurora. Best thing ever - if visible, the Aurora can be seen from the yurt! We were lucky to be there during a strong magnetic storm on a clear night and the display was amazing! Wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Colleen was a great host willing to go the extra mile and kept us alert of Aurora sightings. The yurt was beautiful and roomy. It was cozy warm even though it was negative 11 out! Had perfect views, plenty to do. A country feel while still close to town. I hope to be back.

If one of Colleen's yurts is available for your trip, do not hesitate to book. You will have no regrets. I sincerely doubt there is anything better in Fairbanks.
The location is absolutely ideal. Close enough to Fairbanks that you can get to and from easily, but far enough that you feel like you're getting way from the hustle and bustle. The area around Colleen's place is very quiet and beautiful, and our yurt had an excellent view over Fairbanks and the sunrise over the distant mountains every morning. It was stunning.
The yurt itself had everything we needed and more. Comfy bed, plenty of heat, a surprisngly spacious bathroom, coffee maker, television (not that you should waste your trip watching TV), good Wifi, fully-equipped kitchen, even a W/D. There's even headlamps and bear mace. We honestly did not want for anything while we were there. Colleen has definitely put a lot of thought into the way she has the yurts stocked and she nailed it.
Colleen was a perfect host. Available any time we had questions or concerns, and she even sent us polite messages to let us know when the aurora was active.
Speaking of, Colleen's property is an excellent spot for aurora viewing. Pretty much no light pollution. We stayed for 4 nights and had excellent light shows 3 out of 4 nights. There's no need to book an expensive tour with aurora guides when you're staying here. Just look out the window.
My wife and I are thrilled we got to stay at Colleen's, and we have every intention of coming back. So do yourself a favor and book your stay in one of these perfect yurts!

Everything was perfect about this place. It was so beautiful, the yurt, the trees, everything! We got to meet the dogs Ganuk & Keneicha who were so lovable and spent some time with us. Coleen was really nice and let us use her hot tub and sleds. She also kept us informed about the Aurora Borealis so we can catch it. I would definitely come again!

Ideally situated. A short drive from the Murphy Dome on top of the hill, for aurora viewing. The host provided useful suggestions for getting a view of the aurora. The yurt's accomodations are well thought out, clean, and comfortable.
Definitely get AWD or 4WD in winter months. (Which I would recommend anyway for visiting some of the local attractions.)

Host was very responsive to our queries. Yurt was clean, cozy, well equipped and Aurora viewing is right above the yurt or your can also drive half an hour to near Murphy Dome. For the first time in our lives, we caught the auroras on 29 & 30 Aug 2022 and that make our Alaska vacation a great and memorable one!

The Aurora Yurt was wonderful. Excellent location, close enough to town but yet far enough away to be secluded from everything. Colleen is an excellent host. We plan to go back just in the winter next time to see the Northern Lights.

If we ever go back to Fairbanks we would stay here for sure! Great location. Close to a small general store/ gas station/ restaurant. Beds super comfortable and stocked with everything you could need. We even made a cake for my husband’s bday.

We stayed 6 nights, and we had one clear night where we had an amazing Northern Lights show. Our two kids (ages 6 & 8) stayed up until around 10pm and got to see it for about half hour. Then after they went to bed, my husband and I watched it dance overhead for hours more from the yurt driveway while the kids slept (that was priceless!). Colleen was the best VRBO host we have ever had! She gave us insightful aurora viewing tips and had kind communication. Staying in a yurt was a fun and new experience for us! It was warm, and having the washer/dryer was convenient. One thing to be aware of is the only interior door is on the bathroom. Neither bedroom had a door, but the entrances were on the opposite side of the yurt. Beyond the Northern Lights, we filled our days with fun winter activities and overall had a great vacation! Colleen let us borrow sleds, which we took to the ice play park.
