Professionally decorated home in a quiet cove on Smith Mountain Lake. This home includes gorgeous views from the living room, a custom nautical themed bar and lots of surrounding decks. Located on a very secluded cove with 8-10' of clean water, you can spend hours floating around without having to worry about boat traffic. The dock has a great rope swing for kids and kids-at-heart.
Happy Oars offers 3200 square feet of living space including Large TV's, Cable and unlimited Wifi, Bluray DVD Players, XBox 360 Kinect, a movie library, pool table, ping pong table and air hockey table all included!
Main level includes:
Master bedroom - king bed, large walk-in closet and a private bath. Master also offers access to upper deck.
2 Queen bedrooms that share a full bathroom.
Large living area with lots of seating and floor to ceiling windows/doors that provide spectacular lake views. Living area seats.

Great location at Smith Mountain Lake. Loved the closest marina (Mitchell’s). House had plenty of room and kids loved the games in the basement and the canoes and paddle boards.

The home was super clean and full of nice amenities. We had 14 people and had plenty of space to spread out but also areas where we could all be together. This was a family vacation for me and my two sons and their families. The hosts were great with communication.

Incredibly appointed for a comfortable stay for a larger group. Plenty of space for families to spread out and have their own space. Yet wonderful places to gather. The pool table and ping pong table provided great evenings of talking and laughing. It’s a great house nestled in trees. Extremely tidy and well decorated. Check in was effortless as well as check out. A great stay! Thank you.

This home had everything you need for time away with your family. The description was accurate and we found the house to be clean and well stocked. The hosts were wonderful to work with and check in/out process was very easy. Would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our 2 week stay. House was well stocked and comfortable, dock area was great. Owners were were responsive when needed. Quite a few stairs to get to the dock but that also meant the water depth at the end of the dock was 8+ feet. Water was the clearest we have ever seen in 20+ years of coming to SML.

We had a great time. 3 nights with 3 couples in our 60's. The house is beautiful, it looks like a new renovation. We had everything we needed. Rented a boat from Mitchells for 2 days and the lake and weather was perfect. We plan to visit again. Thank you.

We stayed here for our graduation from Liberty University. The lake front was great for our age range since it was in a cove. So minimal traffic came by and zero actually came into the cove. This area was not particularly deep so it isn't as concerning for those that arent comfortable swimming in a lake, but it was plenty deep to swim and enjoy. The house was clean and well equipped. We needed nothing. Communication was easy and the owners were quick to respond. Great stay!

Perfect for our stay
the home is lovely and we plan on coming back in the future. The room arrangement worked very well for us. Our only negative was that there was dog (or other large animal) waste in the front yard so it was unusable by our children. The kitchen was very well stocked except we could have used a cutting board of some kind. Everything else was perfect.

Great place for families
Wonderful place for a lake getaway! Plenty of space to relax both inside & out! We lucked in with amazing weather and spent the afternoons in the dock. We were even able to use the kayaks & paddleboards one afternoon. Evening were spent by the firepit. Indoors the kids had their own hang out spot downstairs with the game room & the TV room. Upstairs adults could enjoy the view. Kitchen was well stocked. 2 fridges & a big pantry closet to unload your groceries. We had a great time!

This house was a great location for our family weekend! The bunk room and games were great for the kids, it has a great view, and we loved the dock access for the boat we rented! Will definitely keep in mind for future trips to Smith Mountain Lake!

Excellent lake house!
We stayed as a group of four families with kids. The house is nicely shaded by large trees right on the water. With great weather we spent most of our time on the dock. Dock is located in the quiet end of the lake and kids were safely in the water away from watercraft. There were swings on the dock, kayaks, paddle boards. The house was clean and well stocked. Basement with air hockey, pingpong table and pool table was also a big hit. Hope to be back next year.

Fantastic Rental
House was almost perfect. Did not appreciate spiders & webs on the inside of the home. Other than that, everything as website & all ages had a great week with paddleboards,kayaks, rope swing, dock swings and our own fishing spot for little ones. Fantastic rental!!

Great Lake house and location
The property was well maintained with plenty of amenities and extras. The dock was wonderful and the quiet cove was perfect for our grandchildren to play in. They loved the hammock seats, the rope swing, the kayaks and the paddle boards. Inside, the game room was a big hit. The kitchen was well stocked. The linens were good quality. I can’t say enough good things about this property.

Peaceful Lake Getaway
This property is a beautiful location located in a cove that branches off of the lake. There were many amenities that me and my family could enjoy especially with the nice weather that weekend. Very well maintained area and very peaceful.

Amazing stay at Happy Oars!
Happy Oars is just as described in the write up and as seen in pictures. The updated kitchen and bathrooms along with the nicely decorated interior make it a lovely home. The game room with the air hockey, ping pong and pool tables were a big hit with both young and old.

Fabulous house!
We stayed over New Years weekend and had a wonderful time. The house felt like a home immediately. The view is beautiful and hanging out on the dock was fun. All furniture was comfortable and worked well for our family ages 1-80. We also enjoyed the game room and 2 living room spaces. We’ll definitely rent again in the summer to enjoy the water a bit more. Thanks!

Fun Long Weekend at SML!
Despite the rain, we had a GREAT time at SML and this home was a huge part of that! Loved the paddleboards, kayaks and the rope swing -- all the adult children used them! We also loved the hammock swings and the fun lights around the dock area. Game night with the ping pong table, pool table and air hockey was super fun -- but I think the crazy little "swing the ring to make it hook" game was our favorite -- addictive! The kitchen is well stocked, the rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. The house is beautifully decorated and the views are amazing. We also loved the extra refrigerator in the garage -- super handy with 5 adult children! We will definitely be coming back next year.

Stayed during the off-season in September 2020 with fantastic results. We only had 4 people, but wished we would have added an additional family as it has ample room for 1-2 more families. House was clean (some Spider webs which is expected on a lake house), and fully stocked kitchen / game setup (air hockey pucks could use a replacement), with a gas grill that we used extensively. You have proximity to at least 2 marinas offer boat rentals, fishing supplies, etc. As a family you have plenty of space to separate and the internet supported zoom calls well enough that working remotely was not an issue. The addition of some more lights to the two social areas would be helpful for puzzles and games, but it was nice to have so many options.For us the biggest draw was the dock, we floated, jumped off the rope swing, paddle boarded (provided), and just enjoyed the peacefulness of the lake. Easy to tie up a large pontoon and water jumping off the dock was 7-8 ft deep. Even caught at 18in Catfish from the dock!Would recommend and stay again if we venture back to SML.the cove was far away that any boat traffic/noise didn't impact things.

Absolutely Amazing!!!
We had a wonderful trip at your vrbo. I can't think of anything that would have made it more enjoyable. We did rent a couple of jet skis which was only icing on the cake. The home was beautiful and well maintained and plenty to do for all of us. The grandkids had virtual school during the day but couldn't wait to get to the dock. Kayaks, paddleboards and the rope were favorites to all. Again, thank you for a wonderful experience and look forward to making this trip again.

COVID-19 Break!
Typically our family likes to cruise together but with the pandemic we weren’t taking any chances. We had 8 adults and 4 children. Having never rented a house before we were cautious. As it turned out there was no reason to worry! Not only was VRBO good, the owners were fabulous. Communication was clear and readily available! The property was even better than pictured. I could go on and on but I’ll close with this - cruising has competition now!

This is a Beautiful vacation home. Every bedroom was very spacious , We had plenty of room to set up our crib. My family and I had a blast. I think the rope swing was everyone’s favorite thing to do !!

Wonderful, just wonderful!
This house was just perfect for our New Year’s 3-day stay! We had two families staying, both with 3 girls. Plenty of room for us all, plus extra! We especially loved the game room, the two different “living” areas, and the spacious kitchen that never felt crowded (even with 10 people milling around!). The bunk bed room is so awesome. Beautiful view as well, and a short drive to SML State Park, which was gorgeous. The property was also very clean. We had a great stay! Thank you!

Great home for family reunion!
Loved the house. My problem was with all the spider webs at the entrance and in the garage. Also, there was no garage door opener which made it a little inconvenient for us. Some updated kitchen supplies would be helpful, pots and pans were a little worn----we cook a lot though so this may not be a problem for most renters. Stove needs replaced, very worn. Rest of kitchen was nice and updated.
Supplies were in short supply compared to most of the vacation rentals we have had. Very little toilet tissue, coffee, etc. Kind of a shame really, this could easily be a 5 star rental with just a bit of TLC.
All of this having been said, my family had a wonderful time at the house. I just believe in being very honest in my reviews.

November Getaway
A big, comfortable home -- perfect for families. Well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, welcoming expansive play area with ping-pong table for kids & adults. Great location on a secluded cove, with easy access to the private on-site dock for fishing & kayaking. The kids took a "polar bear plunge" in November & loved every minute. This home is perfect for families -- a tastefully decorated and spacious house that is sure to please.

Fun & relaxing
We had a fabulous week! Lots of room for the 12 of us. The kids had a blast with the rope swing & the water was clean & refreshing. The beds were comfortable. The game room was also a big hit in the evenings, however the air hockey and ping pong accessories (pucks, balls & paddles) need to be replaced. Kitchen was well stocked & it was great having the 2nd fridge in the garage. Could have used a few dish rags & a couple more dish towels in the kitchen though. I didn’t love walking up and down all the stairs from the house to the water but it was worth it! The expanded dock allowed room for everyone to hang out & catch some fish, lots of blue gill & a few cat fish. We had an awesome week with lots of family memories to cherish forever! ❤️

Happy Oars= Happy Vacation
We had a great experience at Happy Oars. We had three families that stayed and had more than enough room. The house was very clean and accommodating. The beds were comfy and have clean and updated bedding. Each family had their own full bathroom. The owner, Angie, was great to work with. The kitchen was beautiful, very roomy and had everything we needed. We had plenty of seating for dining. The owner even provided some essentials like dishwasher tabs, laundry tabs, etc. The house never felt cramped at all. The game room was a hit with the kids and they liked the option of playing video games. The dock was beautiful and roomy. We loved the hanging lights. The cove was safe to swim in and sit on rafts, and we all loved the rope swing. We brought two boats and docked them there as well. The cove outside had a small amount of boat traffic so we were able to do water sports just outside of the cove. We were so happy with our stay and would love to stay at Happy Oars again!
