Soggiorno in relax

Struttura immersa nel verde dove regna la pace e la tranquillità, consigliata per coloro che cercano relax nelle colline senesi vicino a molti paesini molto carini da visitare.

Struttura con del potenziale da sfruttare ma non usufruito, manca di tanti piccoli accorgimenti che potrebbero essere migliorati, un occhio in più anche nelle pulizie.

Wonderful!

Great location. Good breakfast. One night we went for a drink and left our car on the parking of an nearby restaurant. When we left the bar, the gate of the parking was closed so a friendly customer brought us back to the hotel. The next morning the host was so kind to bring us back to our car. We want to express our gratitude again for this!

Fab short break, definitely need a car and would stay here again

Beautiful countryside and buildings. Stayed in the hotel rooms which were comfortable, rustic and in keeping with Tuscany. Spotlessly clean and we had Air-con which was a blessing in the heat. Breakfast was lovely and we had home made muffins. A very nice pool area just a little walk from the rooms, just make sure you take what you need with you. Dealt with 2 receptionists who were very helpful and spoke great English which was good because we didn’t speak any Italian

Aircon and bathroom fan a little noisy but you soon got used to it. A kettle and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms would be helpful

A pleasurable experience and will be totally recommending to our friends.

An amazing authentic Tuscan castle that is well located to surrounding villages and provides a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Staff are very helpful and engaging.

Wifi is very poor in the rooms. Can’t fault anything else.

Wifi worked well.

The facilities were unpleasant, we had bad allergies and sneezing the whole stay due to the furniture and other elements in the apartment where we stayed. It was also very very hot, online Air condition was listed but was not included (we stayed in the apartments). Only two fans that did not work. We had planned to stay for 3 nights but had to leave early and pay double for the night... we don't recommend this for your stay.

Good Pool...Poor inventory.

Good pool. Grand old building in pleasant location. The receptionist was very helpful.

Poor inventory of basic equipment eg 1 tumbler, 1 wineglass. no scissors, spatulas, drying rack. Admittedly, they were supplied on request but the guest should not have to waste time listing shortages. No bedside tables just small inadequate curved shelves.

Great Location to explore Monterigioni and San Giminano.

The site heavily suggested accommodation was in the castle where most rooms are in a seperate building. There also was no access to the top of the castle where the spectacular view are advertised. There was no air-conditioning working.

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the property! Very lovely!

The breakfast was delicious! Staff friendly.

Check in was so late and check out was too early! The pool closed at 8 p.m. we didn’t have a chance to enjoy it! To be fair we only stayed one night.

Beautiful place and the staff is very kind.

It was summer when we went and the AC in the room doesn’t really work. Even with the windows open it was upmost unbearable to sleep in the room.

Clean, cozy, and quiet. Stay here!

We love it here! And Mauro is the best! We stayed at Castel Pietraio for 3 nights and it was the perfect base for our day trips to neighboring towns. The inclusion of breakfast in the mornings had everything we needed, and the room was clean and cozy. Mauro, the owner, gave us a tour of the cantina and taught us about their wine making process. You can tell he works hard and has a kind heart. We had a wine tasting afterwards and would have bought every single bottle if we didn't have to pack lightly.

Fabulous

This is a beautiful and authentic historical wine resort in stunning surroundings, with elegant and very comfortable rooms. The owner and his staff are welcoming, and we enjoyed a wine tasting on our first day; the breakfast was excellent. There is also a great restaurant in walking distance (550m). The location is ideal for exploring the region by car (Florence, Siena, San Gimigniano, Monteriggioni, and many other beautiful places in the Chianti region).

An atmospheric, well situated location but rooms need updating

Castel Pietraio is in a fantastic location and is certainly an atmospheric and interesting place to stay. It is sited on the Via Francigena so in a perfect position for walking and biking. The countryside around is beautiful, the little village Strove nearby has a useful café/restaurant. Beds were comfortable and it was very quiet and peaceful at night. The pool is large with beautiful views and a nice sunbathing area.

The apartment rooms are definitely dated; broken loo seat, fridge door that did not seal and gas stove with only two working rings. Self catering was possible but there was minimal kitchen equipment e.g. no chopping board or vegetable knife. Staff were quick to help with any issues (no mugs and unable to get the gas to work) but there is a certain feeling of abandonment about the place; drinks and cigarette butts left out by other visitors were not tidied up; although we stayed there a week there was no offer of a change of linen or towels or housekeeping for the apartment. The entrance to the castle is made up of uneven ground and quite rough and rocky in areas; steps are steep and after rain slippery. Fortunately, the weather was cooling down when we stayed but the small air-conditioning units (which we did not use) would not be sufficient to keep the rooms at a comfortable temperature. Some paving tiles around the pool are broken which, from past experience with children, can be extremely dangerous.

Wonderful hosts, delicious breakfast, great location for day trips

Need to make reservations at the restaurants in walking distance to ensure you don’t have to drive. A communicable kitchen would also make thing simple as you could prepare a small dinner at the facility if the restaurants were full.

How lovely is it to spend time on your holiday in a real castle. Excellent swimming pool and a very nice restaurant in Strove (on walking distance). Gabriele and Christiano were very helpful!

The kitchen / kitchenette is outdated. But who needs one when you have an excellent breakfast at the castle and a very nice restaurant nearby.

Our stay was not up to our excpectations :(

The room was clean and the castel itself is very beautiful. The lady on the reception is nice.

Well! Though the AC was supposedly working as we were told, but the room was overly hot and we could not get any sleep, especially that the temperature was in the 90s. The AC is not adequate for what the room actually requires to cool. There was absolutely no difference between the temperature in the hallway and inside the room. On another note, when we booked the room, we specified that it was for 2 adults and 1 kid and we had to pay of course extra money for the superior room to fit 3 people. Yet, although breakfast is included in the rate, we were charged 15 Euros for breakfast for our son (eventhough he wasnt feeling well and he did not eat anything at all, and the management was aware of that). Also, the wifi in the room (Room 3) did not work. Luckily, we only stayed one night there.

Comfortable 1 Night Stay

Staff were great, clean and comfortable room, wonderful breakfast spread in the AM. Location was a little more isolated then expected but was still not that far from the little town!

The grounds were a little bit rundown, to be fair we were there in the spring and not summer but there just seemed to be so much missed opportunity with how beautiful the surroundings could be.

Beautiful place, very impressive. Clean and spacious room. Decent breakfast. We had everything what we needed for our stay.

Staff said literally three words to us during our stay: passport, key, room. There was no communication at all and we didn't feel welcome. They didn't even give us our passports back before taking us to the room Maybe it was language barrier, I don't know, but we stayed in places where people didn't speak English and we still could communicate. After we areivied we didn't get any info about breakfast, nothing. The next morning we were roaming around until we saw someone who can tell us where the breakfast is (it's quite big place). Hospitality was a bit disappointing, but it's beautiful place and still worth to give to shot. Also during our stay, the main road was closed and we were struggling a bit with getting to the property. Heads up would be great.
