Really good hostel, would stay again

Really good hostel. Big communal areas with stuff to do to pass time. They put on a lot of events for the guests which is a nice touch. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Kitchen on every floor meant they weren’t so crowded or messy. Bathrooms were spacious and clean

Room was very small with a tiny window too high up to see out of. Not enough bathrooms for amount of guests, often waiting for them.

Backpackers accommodation in the middle of Wellington

Trek hostel is like most of this type of backpackers hostels. Rooms were rather small but enough for us. Common area & kitchen spacious and well equipped. Check-in was fast, and communication with personnel great (they helped me to solve some issues with booking). Location is perfect close to many places in Wellington

The price was too high compared to the room standard, but we were in a busy time in Wellington. Beds were just basic. Also, bathrooms were constantly occupied as maybe too few of them compared to the number of guests.

Great location, clean but a but not beautiful

Decent location, good value for price and clean bathrooms. There is security during the night and only people that stay there actually get in - feels safe.

The lobby / common area is a bit messy - doesn't appear to have been specifically designed for any purpose. They could really make this more welcoming.

Decent hostel

Located basically directly in the city center, within walking distance to quite a few sights (e.g. Te Papa, Cable Car). Also a supermarket is within walking distance. Train/bus station is walkable, though a bit further away. Staff was friendly and helpful, and kept the place clean and tidy. Large lockers available in the rooms for storing your bags and/or valuables (BYO lock).

The four-bed dorm room is really quite small. The common area next to reception is not very comfortable to sit at (though the lounge was being renovated, so there is probably more comfortable space to hang out available there). The number of driers (just two) was not enough for the number of people doing their laundry.

Bedding etc very thin so was not really enough in winter and pillows also very thin but that's what you get for the price.

A budget friendly place in the centre of Wellington

Location is great. City is easily accessible by foot. The free food nights are great for meeting people.

Not enough plug sockets in our room. Could possibly add in extension leads to help with this. Also the bed blocked the only power points we had so maybe it would be better to rearrange the room. Otherwise the stay was fine

Great spot

The location was great

It was very noisy with people using kitchen well after midnight, which I think is a bit late. The blankets on the bed were a bit thin and not really warm enough especially for this time of year.

Superb

The room whilst small/compact was ideal for our 2 night city centre stay. The shared bathrooms were clean and tidy. Having the secure parking adjoining our accommodation was amazing, meaning we could park the hire car and enjoy Wellington on foot for the two days of our stay, without worrying about parking tickets. To summarise, great location, friendly staff, handy parking, great value👍

Lovely place would stay again with a few improvements.

Love the central location . People on the desk lovely

There is room for improvement on the way the facility is cleaned . What would be helpful is cleaning products such as spray and wipe so that you can clean the kitchen in between uses after people have cooked . Also instructions in multiple languages so that people actually follow house keeping principles .know one followed this on our floor . Also regular dusting of baseboards in the room vacuum out draws plugs heaters . Clean the tv remotes these were really dirty . I used my own antibacterial wipes to clean them .

location was good, very easy to get to/from airport, staff v friendly and good sized locked storage room.

bed wasn’t that comfy, bathrooms weren’t cleaned (lots of hair in the drains), half the carpet up in the room.

never again

the people at the desk were very helpful when they realized how hard it would be for me to stay there!

We didn't get a separate bathroom, and no space around bed for my husband's side, so he slept on top of the bunk which was difficult for him. I slept with my clothes and shoes on cause I felt so bad, it needs a good painting and clean up. It also felt like a prison with all the locked doors to be opened and a maze to find our room. When the huge school group left and it was quiet in the morning and I wasn't so tired so it looked much better.
