Loving our stay here!

We only booked the room for 1 day, but we liked it so much that we extended our stay in Galle for 1 week! ROOM DETAILS: The house is beautiful and its surrounded with greenery, flowers and fruit trees. The interiors are also clean and well-maintained. They have lots of novels and magazines we can read. The room is exactly as shown in the pictures. We received fresh towels, a laundry bag and soaps too. They have AC in the room and hot water in the bathroom. The house is inside a residential area that is safe and peaceful. HOST DETAILS: The hosts are warm, welcoming and helpful. They treat us just like family. Whenever we are at home during the day, they give us refreshing drinks like lemonade or fruit juice. They have a well-equipped kitchen we can use. The breakfast is really good in taste and quantity. We get bread, butter, omelette, lentils, coconut rice / coconut roti, tea and 2-3 kinds of fresh fruit every morning at the dining table. They pack the leftovers for us to snack throughout the day. Once my partner woke up at noon and got late for breakfast, so while he was eating breakfast, I was sitting idle because I already ate my breakfast in the morning. They saw me sitting without a plate and offered me their lunch too. Hosts arranged a scuba diving course at a discounted price for us, and even took us to Unawatuna for our diving lesson in their personal car. They have contacts throughout the city, so whenever you need to do any activity or shop something, let them know so they'll get it arranged for you at a discount. ACCESSIBILITY: There are 2-3 restaurants and grocery stores 10 mins away by foot. And when we get on the main road, we can see the Mahamodara beach on the opposite side of the road. Pizza Hut and Dominos Pizza are 15-20 mins away by foot and they also offer home delivery. Galle bus stand, railway station and Galle fort are 25-30 mins away by foot. Or you can download Pick Me app and get a tuk tuk to take you anywhere.

Exceptional

the hosts are very, very sweet and caring. Hiran picked us up from the train station and kindly offered us fresh juice as a welcome. The accommodation is clean and spacious. The room and bathroom are basic but offer everything you need and the garden is a little paradise with fresh fruit hanging from the trees. Hiran and his wife were absolutely attentive and the breakfast she made (each day a different delicious sri Lankan surprise) was amazing! We loved the hospitality at this place and the impression of the sri Lankan life we could get. Thank you for making us feel at home! All the best to you, Manu and Jane

Great place to stay and lovely hosts

Very nice place to stay. It’s not in the city center but in a very calm neighborhood with a lot of local restaurants and a bus that takes you to the city center in 5 minutes. The house feels like home. The hosts are lovely and make sure you feel comfortable. We had interesting talks and they cooked a different breakfast every morning to make sure we taste different local dishes. That was no nice! Thanks again for the warm welcome!

The train is very close and makes a lot of noise, and the house is very hot but there’s not much to do about it. It has fans though, which helped, and you can pay to get some AC if needed. Overall a great place to stay where we would be happy to come back!

Exceptional

Very quiet and green location. Room perfectly clean. Breakfast is generous and excellent. And if you ask for dinner you'll have the best home made Sri Lankan meals ever. The hosts are very kind and discussing with them is very pleasant.

Wonderful hosts and a most comfortable stay!

Galle Rest Home is managed and owned by a most generous and welcoming family. My family had a wonderful stay with then for a day, and we were left wanting nothing more. Would definitely recommend to any visitor to Galle!
