A great base to explore the historic town of Rye as it’s a short drive away.

Apartment was spotless with cleaning to a very high standard. The “retreat” has amazing views from both kitchen and bedroom windows and if you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay then look no further. Everything you could need is available with a fully equipped kitchen. A very nice touch was the lovely goodies provided in the welcome hamper on arrival. Beautiful fresh cut flowers displayed in the kitchen which adds to the homely feel. Access to the grounds is a bonus to your stay where you can have a stroll and if you venture past the bluebells as far as the bench near the willow tree, you will have the delight of more amazing views. We would have no hesitation in recommending these apartments to anyone looking for a relaxing break to recharge the batteries.

Relaxing tranquil escape

The property had a lovely feel to it with lovely interior, we stayed in The Loft and upon walking in was presented with a lovely hamper, the property has a fully equipped kitchen including coffee machine and bathroom which are all presented lovely, the bed was comfortable, bathroom was very clean (which was a theme throughout) and the location was incredibly relaxing and quiet, stones throw from Rye and also Tillingham which is very popular and presented with lots of information of the local area in the hamper including taxis which have no issues finding the address, apartment to rye is just 10 mins

Visit to East Sussex

Beautiful location and well positioned for surrounding towns and attractions. Apartment (Loft) was a great size, bedroom a little small but still lovely, equipped with everything you need, parking space. Owners very friendly and helpful. Outside seating great. Private and not overlooked, peaceful, beautiful grounds and a bench to watch the sunset and the lambs with a glass of wine!

Very good accommodation within easy reach of Rye and the surrounding area

Comfortable ground floor apartment in a beautiful setting.

Unfortunately the local pub ( within walking distance) closed down whilst we were there .

A haven of peace and quiet in pleasant, pretty surroundings with everything one could need.

The peace and quiet, no noisy neighbours, the light, bright, clean interior, the two floors, one for TV and apero. The well equipped kitchen and the thoughtful welcome package.

The shower head is small and water pressure not great but I asked about this and Lucy replied and explained the situation, hosepipe ban etc.

It was amazing! The apartment was extremely clean, cosy, and the hosts very kindly provided toiletries and food goodies. We will definitely be coming back next time.

Nice relaxed quiet weekend

Was a lovely well equipped apartment. The loft was a beautiful relaxing space.

Just a shame the village pub was closed (no one’s fault) but only found out on arrival and was one the reason we chose the location instead we had to rely on taxis to take us further afield.

The stairs going to the first floor are narrow. It might be difficult for an older person to go up and down.

Delightful small well-equipped property - perfect for a couple.

Excellent spacious location on the edge of the village but within decent walking distance of facilities such as shop and pub. Warm, comfortable, well-equipped annex to the owner’s house.

warm and cosy apartment in lovely location

everything you could need, lovely welcome basket including bread and eggs and even some treats for the doggie. even a blanket for the sofa so we didn’t have to worry about the dog cosying up on it. warm and cosy even in the rain and lovely fields to walk round and explore.

A professionally organised and relaxing stay. An excellent venue for a quiet weekend away!

Full instructions sent in advance. Welcome envelope with keys on arrival as specified. All works perfectly well. Our hosts were super helpful.

Everything was great. Took a moment to spot our parking space sign as it was getting dark, but we managed fine. Easy enough to figure out. Hosts were on hand too if we had any questions and came to say welcome.

Great location, perfect property. Covid affected local facilities but not the property fault.

Location was storybook perfect! Room was ideal for two, every facility you could need, in fact no real need to go out, but your in a beautiful part of the world, so you do.

Above all, the hosts are kind, helpful and generous with the provisions they put in the apartment for us. The setting is beautiful with rabbits and birds aplenty frolicking on the pastures around. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and conveniently placed for Rye, Hastings, Great Dixter and Sissinghurst as well as loads of other places.

The accommodation was lovely clean and comfortable. We arrived very late so the welcome pack was very much appreciated.

A great place to stay to walk and explore many different places of interest in the area.

We loved the location of the accommodation and the apartment was very well equipped and well looked after. We enjoyed walking directly from the apartment into Rye and another location during our stay. There is so much to explore in the area that we may well return. The apartment was in a quiet location with a beautiful outlook.

We found the dining chair cushions a little lumpy and the sofa cushions were not that comfortable but overall we were very pleased with accommodation.

The weekend at Humphries Cross apartment was fantastic! We rented the split level flat which was cosy and comfy and just lush! The welcome basket was a lovely touch and made our stay even more special. We met Lucy and Stuart when we arrived and they were so welcoming. The location is great and quiet with the closest pub being 20 minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed my partners birthday weekend and will hopefully return in the future. 🙂

Able to access some lovely walks from the grounds of Humphries Cross, brilliant stay

The Retreat was very nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable and beautiful grounds with fabulous views, in a quiet setting and great location. A lovely welcome basket was a very nice touch. Very friendly welcoming hosts Stuart and Lucy. We highly recommend staying at Humphries Cross it won’t disappoint. Look forward to visiting again.

If we had to provide a negative comment it would be the narrow stairs to first floor, although wasn’t a problem for us oldies at 61 years young.
