Disappointing - except for breakfast experience.

Lovely breakfast served by very pleasant and efficient staff. The bar areas were nice.

My heart sank when I opened the door...The hotel room was small, as was the bed at 4ft 6 wide. The carpets and furniture were dismal and very dated. The window blind was very grubby and tatty with long, worn threads hanging from the bottom. The bathroom was functional, though shower cubicle very small. The walls and woodwork are in need of full redecoration throughout - paintwork was peeling badly which made the whole place look grubby, though in fact it was very clean. All carpets in the public areas from the first floor onwards were heavily stained

Absolutely fabulous place to stay. Rooms food and staff all top notch. This is our second visit here and it did not disappoint. Breakfast amazing.

A very pleasant stay with a few hiccups.

The staff was very friendly and the food was very nice. The toiletries were very helpful and there was a complimentary bottle of water.

The room felt a bit cramped and the room layout was worrisome like the bed was in the middle of the room with the second bedroom light switch being blocked by the headboard. And the radiator was very close to the toilet seat.

A great stay- lovely staff and fabulous breakfasts

It is our eighth stay and it is right in the centre of Frome, good value for money with great breakfasts and lovely rooms (14 and 15). The staff are friendly and efficient and the manager extremely skilled- all in all it is a great place. Parking is a bonus and pleased to see the place is having a refresh in terms of decorating hallways. Pub is good too with a nice mix of locals and residents.

Good location in Frome, friendly staff, fine for a short stay.

The guest lounge was nice to use. The bedroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. Use of the locked car park was a big help.

The decoration is a little tired and in need of some updating. The gate to the underground car park was so heavy that I could not open it !

Nice location, nasty food

The room was spacious and nicely decorated, but the bathroom was quite drab. Nice balcony area with table & chairs. Huge bed which was comfy. Great tea & coffee facilities + bottle of water. Ideal location for The Cheese & Grain venue.

FOOD!! My meal was awful! I chose the meal from it's beautiful description on the menu but was served a disgrace! A very bog standard and disappointing chicken & chips dish, which had clearly been under the hot plate for some time. Extremely dry and completely tasteless.. the "dressed leaves" were a handful of wilted warm salad greens with NO dressing. I could not eat it and at £15.75 felt I had to complain! After an initial, and completely unnecessary exchange of words between the waiter and my friend, who was merely asking if the "leaves looked dressed " ... the waiter asked me "do you want some dressing!?" to which I replied "yes please" He took my plate and returned it with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar on said leaves. Then, when I tasted the chicken, I decided that this was not at all acceptable or indeed edible. My husband asked for a refund which we were promptly given. The waiter then offered me something on the house, which I very much appreciated and asked for a ham & tomato sandwich... which was very nice. Overall I didn't find the staff to be very pleasant, and didn't see any of them smile! I did get an explanation of it being very busy and presumably short staffed, and whilst I can appreciate these circumstances in many work places, especially hospitality, it should not be my concern or made apparent to me as a guest!

Some good points, let down by evening bar staff

Great secure car parking, the Breakfast was excellent with a good choice, the town centre location was ideal for our needs.

Staff behind the bar in the evening were quite rude, practically the male who seemed to be in charge, this was when informing us the kitchen was closed, which was before taking our plates away from the main course which its self took an age, how you can sit down for a booked meal at 7.30 and not have time for a desert before the kitchen closing says a lot about the service.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay, as usual

We have stayed at the George a few times now and the rooms are comfortable and the staff very keen to help. The breakfast is great and the hotel provides good food in the evening so no need to go searching for anything.

I like the hotel, they keep good beer, the rooms are good, the food is good, the staff are helpful and polite and the location is good.

comfy bed, plenty of room in bathroom

shower head slot in room 3 is broken, also shower took ages to drain, needs a plug clean. the brekkjie was a bit small. also none of the non-terrestrial channels on the tv worked - dont show netflix, now, amazon etc on the tv home page if you cant actually watch any of them

Excellent location, quirky,room okay, very comfortable bed. Afternoon bar staff very friendly and helpful. Free car parking a bonus.

Bathroom in need of decorating, unpainted shelf below sink, sink plug and shower trap dirty, mould spots on ceiling. Breakfast host seemed very miserable, also cold baked beans, bacon and sausage not cooked enough (personal choice) , sour tasting hollandaise sauce on eggs benedict.

Very good full English breakfast plus cereal fruit yoghurt croissants etc. Also scrambled egg with smoked salmon

The room was at the front with 3 windows and we had a lot of traffic noise. Also the en suite was rather cramped. Lots of stairs up and down to get to the room with NO lift!
