About this cabin rental
Amazing paradise in the middle of the rain forest, more than 64000 square feet to explore, enjoy and relax. You will find the peace that you are looking for with a little creek next to with pristine waters, lots of flowers, birds, frogs and our comfortable cabin. Mainly recommended for couples all ages or families that would like to be just outside town but close enough to explore all Arenal Volcano attractions. We just add a bigger balcony with a comfortable hot tub up to 4 people.
The cabin is fully equipped with bed linen, towels, kitchen area, private bathroom with hot water, safety deposit box, a king sized bed and two single beds in the second floor special for young kids, it is a mezzanine using a ladder to go up.

The property is just for you, there is nobody else so you will have privacy in this secluded and magical property, all house has screens so you do no have to worry about bugs, going outside and anyplace is better get bug spray with you.
The cabin is located 3 miles away from downtown La Fortuna (10 minutes drive), very private location, good neighborhood and accessible road for any type of car; we will recommend have a car for this location, there is a good taxi/Uber service available but is better have your own car to go around.

While the pictures are accurate, they do not do justice to the beauty of the property and coziness of the cabin. The view of the grounds, from the bed, waking up in the morning was just awesome. You have the sounds of the rainforest all of the time. Our girls loved the loft, and it really made a seemingly small space not feel crowded at all for a family of 4. Easy 10 minute drive into La Fortuna. I'll be day dreaming of our morning coffees on the patio for years to come. If you're on the fence, just book it, you won't be sorry.

Beautiful grounds with lots of room, plants, trees, bamboo, a duck pond, a stream. Perfect area in general. Arenal is visible from the street. There were lots of different birds and animals passing through occasionally. The cabin itself has A/C and was super cozy, I slept super well. The only complaint is that there were too many cameras all around the outside of the house, bit of an overkill, wasn't as comfortable with that, would have felt more private with just one or two facing the entryway.

We loved our stay here! 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a non-hotel option to call home at the end of a day of adventures. It's just the right amount of secluded and off the beaten path, while still feeling safe and incredibly homey. It has everything you need inside, we loved the screened in porch to relax on at the end of the night too. It gets quite toasty inside while you're gone without the AC on but luckily there are two ACs to really pump out the cold air and cool things off. There were only two of us so we did not need the additional beds, but just note the other beds are upstairs in a loft that requires climbing up a wall attached (and very hardy) ladder to get to. Probably not great (safe) for young kids but perfectly suitable for teens+. Just something to keep in mind.
We hope to stay here again in the future, should we come back to La Fortuna. Thank you for sharing your home and for wonderful time!

Love the property. All kinds of birds. There was a running creek and a pond which allowed us to be serenaded by frogs at night. Everything was well kept up. Neighborhood felt safe at night. Found a little café in La Fortuna that specialized in chocolate, Absolutely delicious there.

Pros: Lovely creek runs along back of property bordering on jungle, with gravel pathways around perimeter of property. When pathways are accessed in the dark use a flashlight, due to debris and quite dark at night. A large stand of bamboo provides cooling shade but drops lots of foliage. We saw a couple of frogs at night. We enjoyed good WIFI connection. Dining table and chairs are indoors as well as king size bed. The bed is very soft, yet comfortable. Safe is large enough for laptop computer. Kitchen has many appliances, utensils, and dishes.
Cons: Gated driveway does not lock. Saturday afternoon awaken from nap by woman looking for dentist. Sunday morning found 2 workers on property unannounced. We were not informed. Sent email for instructions on cooktop, received response over 24 hours later and apology about woman. The property has security cameras, but we did not feel very secure.
Sofa, chairs are on screened porch, but the temperature was 35c/95F on most days too hot to enjoy. We sat on the porch early morning, 0600 otherwise morning sun shone in. No hot water in the kitchen, but microwave is close and was able to heat water in the microwave. Thankfully the home is air conditioned but is not very cool in the daytime. The air conditioner cools ok at night. This is our first trip this time of year, we usually travel to this area in the Fall. Maybe it is cooler in the Fall.

Beautiful, Private, Secluded, well maintained spacious grounds filled with all the sights remarkable sounds of this wilderness area, minutes from fabulous La Fortuna Town Center. We delighted in the sounds especially around sunset, as the place came alive with nature, but no mosquitos! Just about 3km from town we found our place delightful in every way. The remarkable team at Home Vacations and House of Tours went above and beyond to make our stay special and memorable. Our stay was great, our tours delightful, educational and exhilarating. Our kids loved staying in this cabin! The property is absolutely amazing, with a pond, a creek and a giant bamboo bush, etc. lots to explore. Our favorite thing was listening to the sounds of the rain forest around you at sunset. It is really an enchanting and beautiful property.
The cabin is represented well by the pictures, small but functional and comfortable. It's a really well built cabin. The AC worked, the water system is good, the lockbox was a nice security feature.
The King bed was a little soft for our liking (perhaps an individual preference) and veranda chairs were not super comfortable to sit in for any extended length of time.
The main negative on this place however is the inversion range. It sort of works, but not like it should. It took us nearly 2hrs to cook pasta on it the first night as it doesn't keep constant heat and the control pannel locks up. We were tired and hungry from the day and would rather have spent the evening doing something more than fiddling with a stove and waiting for water to boil. If not for this I would have rated the place 5 stars.
It is about 10-15min from Lafortuna, so a car is esential for this stay.
Overal, if you are not planning to cook much, this is a great value, but beware of the stove top.

We enjoyed our stay at this adorable villa. We loved the privacy and being just outside of town. The grounds are beautiful- I loved walking around in the evenings and mornings to listen to the birds and other critters.

I recommend this place. Everything was easy and as advertised. We enjoyed our stay. The AC can take a while to cool stuff down when it’s hotter inside than outside. We adjusted and slept well. The shower water pressure is less than fire hydrant. We showered and are clean.

We loved the little cabin in the jungle, especially the screened in porch. The convection stove top was a bit difficult to master, and the mattress could use an upgrade, but it was a great value. Lots of privacy! Also, kudos to Allen and the folks at House of Travel for giving us lots of great advice and showing us around!

Stayed 3 nights - easy check in and check out. This place is lovely - it's a roomy little "cabin" with excellent grounds for a walk and fairly off the beaten path. Well equipped, good a/c and wifi -- very clean. You can't go wrong at this place. Screened porch is a plus and cute loft for 2nd BR. Its abut a 12 minute drive to La Fortuna, which was fine for us - easy to drive in, park and meet gruides. having a car is close to necessary. Go ahead - book it - you won;t be sorry.

We absolutely loved this property. The grounds are so beautiful, and included stone walking paths, a bamboo grove, flowering shrubs, and a bubbling stream in the back. The best part, though, was the number of birds that would gather on the property. Every day we saw toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, and other exotic birds. The house itself was very clean and not an insect inside (something I worried about in Costa Rica). I highly recommend this rental!

My family and I throughly enjoyed our stay here. Our daughter loved the loft bed and the basket on a pulley was a great way to send things up or down as needed. It’s a beautiful place to enjoy the natural setting with lush plants and wildlife, a pond and stream running along the property. The enclosed porch was perfect for watching birds and relaxing outside. We enjoyed exploring outside both during the day and at night for our own little night walk. Not far from La Fortuna, we were able to visit Baldi hot springs, Rio Salto and drive up to Volcano Arenal to hike. We walked to the local produce market and enjoyed the quietness of the area versus being in busy La Fortuna.

This is a cute little cabin with beautiful views from all windows. We were grateful that there was AC because we arrived and it was so humid. The stove is an issue. I'd recommend not planning to cook there unless they've replaced it. We had to unplug it because it wouldn't turn off—other than that the beds are comfortable and the screened-in porch was great. We were concerned about bugs but didn't have any in the place. We had already booked this when we decided not to rent a car and it's possible to get Uber pickups or walk 7 minutes to the main road and catch a bus into town.

Cute cabin. Felt very secluded but close to town. We had a car. Beautiful property. Small item was the hot plate display doesn’t work well and so had to do a lot of button pushing to figure out how to make it work. We saw two toucans as well! Excellent and would recommend.

Adorable and functional cabin on secluded property. No amenities in the immediate area, but not far to La Fortuna. Most excursions will not do direct pickup here. Property itself was comfortable and complete with everything we needed. We appreciated responsiveness and communication with the property manager.

THE GOOD:
The property grounds - simply beautiful! The garden, the creek, the pond - were beautiful! The Cabin is easily accessible with car and is a 12 minute ride to La Fortuna via well paved roads. The cabin is good for 4 - the 15 and 19 yo slept in the loft accessible by a ladder which they enjoyed. There is a cute basket on a pulley to bring clothing and stuff up and down.
The bathroom is fine and the kitchen was well equipped. The stove is a bit finicky and takes a long time to heat. WE have an electric stove at home and have used an induction stove in the past and still we struggled. That is the only thing that could be improved. We left our winter jackets and the property manager Alonso was incredibly helpful in sending it to our hotel in San Jose on the day before we flew back home. Overall, I would stay again in this unique cabin on my next visit to La Fortuna.

We spent 3 nights at Cabana Los Tucanes in August. It is located about 10 minutes from LaFortuna in a rural neighborhood. It is very private and the grounds are just beautiful. The bed is comfy and the screened porch is really a nice place to spend some time. The air conditioning is a necessity and most appreciated! We had a few issues that were unavoidable and the manager was extremely quick to respond and correct them. It was a memorable stay!

I paid for a property with a pool as advertised, NO POOL, the people I walked in with expected a pool, NO POOL, my dad saw several roaches, very little water flow, you can barely shower. . The stove is a joke, seriously save some money and buy a proper stove, that weird thing doesn't work. I was supposed to check in at 3pm. m., I was not given entry until almost five in the afternoon. The gay couple in charge of communication and logistics has very bad customer service. The property is quite beautiful, surrounded by nature, perfect beds and nice decoration. There is a small stream next to the property and a pond where you can see all kinds of frogs. I'm sure I can get a refund for false advertising. I will try to contact the owner directly and tell him what is going on. I and all vacation property owners will be pleased with a feedback like this.

From the stree you have a perfect view of Arenal. This was one of our most favorite places to stay. Directions to the cabin were totally accurate.

It was the most relaxing place I’ve ever been I think. The cabin itself stayed very cool. The views were amazing and there was always something to explore and see on the property. I would stay longer if it wasn’t already booked. If we come back to the area, I would be booking again. Perfect for a couple. We didn’t use the loft upstairs but I can imagine that it would be ideal for kids.

This property is a secluded, jungle garden paradise. We were here with our 2 young girls and had a wonderful time. The induction stove was the only thing wrong with this place and that’s being picky. We would come again any time!

Check in process was simple, property was easy to find. Very private, beautiful grounds. The walking paths are awesome to explore the property. The ‘swimming hole’ listed is surely not swimmable, there is much wildlife in those waters and it appears shallow. This was a fun spot to watch lots of different wildlife, birds, frogs, large coy fish. Pool next door was a bonus, however, being told by the hotel manager we could only swim on the day we arrived was off putting. We reached out to the property manager and this matter was taken care of swiftly and we had access to the pool for our stay. The home has everything you need except washcloths. You also need to reuse your towels again and again or pay for your own laundry service. The basket pulley system was a huge hit with our 7 year old. She loved the loft area as well. King bed was comfortable! The blinds/shades do not open or close well and there are windows galore, however, as stated above it’s very private at this property. We loved sitting in the screened porch enjoying our morning coffee together. Overall this was a wonderful, private, safe lot with tons of wildlife around.

This is our second time staying here. It is on a large property with a small river running through it. Birds are plentiful including Toucans. It is far enough out of LaFortuna to get away from the chaos but close enough to go enjoy the chaos. All in all this is a great little property.

Great place for our family to stay for 6 days on our adventures through Costa Rica. Not to far from La Fortuna and it was a very relaxing place with an amazing yard and nd the cabin had everything we needed. We even saw toucans the first day we were walking around the backyard. The only advice i have is to be careful with little kiddos in the upstairs loft when getting up and down the ladder. We did it with or 5 and 11 year old and they were just fine but it can be a chore for the little ones. All in all we really loved this place. Oh and we were able to use the pool next door at the hotel which was really nice.
