This charming villa is located in our Seahorse Shores duplex and is thoughtfully outfitted for your maximum vacation enjoyment. Your villa is just a half mile walk by sidewalk from your front door to Nokomis Beach.
Enjoy one of the Best Beaches in Florida!: Nokomis Beach is thought by many to be the best beach in Florida. Nokomis Beach is located on the barrier island of Casey Key. Casey Key is 'old Florida' in all the best sense. There are no highrises or condos on Casey Key, and no large hotels. A few 1950's motels still remain on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico but the rest of Casey Key is home to beautiful beach front homes. The author Steven King has a home here. Casey Key has the highest concentration of nesting sea turtles anyplace on Gulf of Mexico in the U.S. From May to October the lights are kept from shining on the beach so the hatchlings can safely make their way to the water. The residents of Casey Key value their pristine paradise and it is only a 1/2 mile walk from your villa at Seahorse Shores. The local beaches thoughtfully provide outdoor showers to rinse the sand and salt off. For the more adventurous, Venice offers the best fossil shark tooth diving in the world. Some of our guests have become Scuba certified here.
Great things to do: Nokomis Beach is 1/2 mile away! We provide a great guest binder in the villa with information about these activities and others and with menus
from the great local restaurants. Unique and fun things to do in this tropical vacation paradise: Visit the world famous Venice Audubon Rookery where herons, egrets and other birds nest. 8 miles away, free. Peak Season is Winter/Spring. Scuba Dive off of Venice Beach for fossil sharks' teeth including huge Megalodon teeth and other fossils. You can go right in from the shore. 4 miles away. Or go out on a Florida West Scuba School charter boat that will put you right on the best spots. You can also get quickly certified and do your training dives right from the beach where the sharks' teeth are. Visibility is best in April, May & June but divers go year round. Great Fishing and Golfing is plentiful and well known to those who enjoy those sports. The Venice Jetty Fish Camp (1.5 miles away) sells live bait shrimp before dawn.
More Great things to do!: Enjoy the drum circles at Nokomis Beach every Wednesday and Saturday 1 hour before Sunset. Go Kayaking with any of several local outfitters. Take a tour, a class, rent a kayak or go to a free kayak demo to try paddling many models for free. You can also rent kayaks and canoes at Myakka River State Park and canoes at Oscar Scherer State Park. Visit Myakka River State Park and walk thru the tree tops on one of the world's few canopy walks. They also have tours on the world's largest airboat for up close views of alligators and other wildlife (airboat tour is $10) 20 miles away. Admission to the State Park is $5 per carload. Ride a bicycle or walk along our newly completed trails: the Venetian Waterway Park in Venice (10 miles of paved trail along both sides of the intercoastal waterway) and the 12 Mile Legacy Trail from Venice to Sarasota. A trailhead is less than 2 miles away.

The house was very clean I had a small problem when we got there but was resolved very fast.
The owner was there in a matter of minutes.

The house was immaculate, so charming as well. Nice, quiet street. We walked to the beach daily, local shops and restaurants were also within walking distance.
We plan to stay again soon.

Great location. Host answered question in timely manner. Comfortable mattress. TV/streaming easy to access. Pots/pans could use an upgrade As well as beach chairs, cooler, and an umbrella as most come to sunny Florida via a plane ride and want to do beach time. We would return again.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and we had no problems during our stay. We liked how close it was to shopping and beaches. We plan on staying again next year!

It was plenty for me and my small family to stay. Needs a little updating and maybe some new beds but we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Having one bathroom was a little hard on the family but I loved the cozy layout and cute decor, and being so close to a grocery store and a nice beach in Nokomis was an overall great stay. My two girls and wife didn't want to leave! Queen bed was a little creaky and bathroom could use a little freshening up but nothing that stopped us from enjoying ourselves. Having a washer and dryer right there was a great feature, worked great.

Property was clean and was as advertised. I would suggest an upgrade to the bathroom - tub needs to be replaced in our opinion

This is a typical old Florida home in an old Florida neighborhood. Nothing fancy but has all you need. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed sitting at the table and chairs in the back yard to visit and eat meals. We also liked sitting in the little outdoor covered patio at the front entrance. The beech can be walked to in about 15 minutes and it’s beautiful. No high rises in sight!

We enjoyed the location. Had a sense that this is a new property to renting. We left suggestions with the manager that hopefully will make future renters more comfortable.

This property is a great location-close to the beach, grocery stores, restaurants.
Unfortunately, we found it to be the worst VRBO we've stayed in. It was not at all welcoming and did not feel clean. When we first arrived there was such a sickening odor, that we wanted to leave immediately, but tried to freshen it up with some diffusers. After 2 days and 3 diffusers it was still bad, so we wanted to leave and get a refund but the owner said no, open the windows. It took brute strength to open the windows (and the window sills were disgustingly filthy). After a week and a half (with windows open, diffusers and a couple of candles) the odor was gone.
The owner was very responsive when I asked for toilet paper (there was only 1/4 of a roll when we arrived), tissues and some basic kitchen supplies, but the kitchen was still lacking some essentials (like a pot holder!).
We were very glad the we had beautiful weather and the beach for relaxation, because we definitely could not relax here.

This rental is situated within walking distance of the Nokomis marina and beach! It has everything you need including a BBQ. My partner and I enjoyed our stay and Greg was friendly and accommodating.

I loved the proximity to the beach. Just a short walk and you are on the public beach. There are a few good restaurants within walking distance so I didn’t need a car.
The home was great. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen was important because I do a lot of cooking while on vacation.

I'd come back
There were some maintenance items that looked like they were in progress (i.e., repair to the back soffit) but nothing that impacted the living space. It was very clean, well kept, in a quiet neighborhood, and walking distance to the beach which was everything we were looking for. I'd definitely return for another stay some time.

Great location, old Florida feel
This property is as advertised. It is an "old Florida" built cement block building with tile floors. The location is perfect for walking/biking to Nokomis beach. Easy access to shopping and dining. Located in a quiet neighborhood, however, the street traffic often exceeds the posted speed limit. Be aware if you are biking on the street.
Property upgrades are in process. The kitchen could use some updates, but it functions fine as it is. Fully stocked bathroom and kitchen. Laundry facilities were used almost daily. We were able to lock rented bicycles in the garage. We used the beach chairs, umbrella, and pool noodles, too.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

It is what it is...
The good: allowed to check in a half hour early, location is close to the beach, close to 2 nice restaurants, easy check in check out, good water pressure!, Kitchen appliances and utensils well stocked, lots of towels, washer and dryer worked well, nice grill in the backyard, access to beach chairs and an umbrella, hose near the front door was a nice touch.. 2bucket chairs in long room were very nice a d we liked the artwork and theme.
The bad: Needs updated, we did not sit on the couch, the king bed mattress very hard (wife almost went to the car to sleep) and the pillows need thrown away (bring pillows), the second bed (full?) Was un-useable (extremely hard)& Found animal hair on this bedding (no pets policy??), TV in master bedroom remote would not change the channel, bathroom is in need of an update, tub is rusty, and does not drain well, we only found one cockroach. Owner did thank us for letting him know about it.

Great location
Close to Nokomis beach and Legacy bike trail. Bath tub should be replaced due to slow drain & rust, otherwise rest of place clean. Restaurants & shopping close by.

Needs Work
Need to clean and paint throughout - front door, rear door, all trim work, kitchen cabinets, clean the air filter cover, etc. The tub is rusty and needs to be replaced. The beds are uncomfortable and have minimal threadbare blankets.

Poor Experience! Read experience
1) Let’s start with the Property manager/owner being rude and hateful in documented discussion with me as the person paying the bill for my family. Even after I told him by message not to contact me again… he still did. 2) Main issue was that my son and his pregnant wife, (with my toddler grandson) were concerned about was the possible mold/mildew issues with the property! Manager almost demanded I get the property checked out myself for mold and that it was our issue and he couldn’t see and or smell what all my family members smelled. 3) He insisted to me my son should speak to him for himself although I had paid the bill. At 3:10 pm he was cleaning garage area and told my son check in wasn’t until 3 pm. My son informed him it was after 3 pm. When we arrived to look at my sons concerns with the property the manager was still out in the yard doing work I guess. We all left immediately and I messaged him about our concerns hoping for a compromise of which I got nothing but hateful messages. My family did not stay there and never went back. I should have followed the other negative reviews but you live and learn. Side note extremely outdated, maybe should advertise more like a low rent “hostel”. Manager told me that my issue wasn’t my issue that the issue for me was that it wasn’t up to our standards. Very true any concerns of mold or mildew in a property my family stays at is below my standards. Pretty sure he was angry because this has happened before with others and maybe taking his anger out on me… I then had to pay for a week for my family members to stay at Home2 hotel! Manager kept all the money I paid him and the cleaning fee of which he didn’t have to clean up from us. I’ll be submitting photos etc to my credit card company. Be careful with this property friends. Neighborhood is fine.

Great stay with your pup
We really enjoyed our stay. It was very close to Nokomis beach. And the neighborhood is great for walking your dog. Plenty of room for two people and a dog. We'll definitely be returning.

Affordable accommodation near beach
I felt like it was overall a good value, which is to say it wasn't perfect, but things seldom are, and also we received a very fair deal. The check-in was flawless. We arrived late at night so it was very convenient just to be able to show up and walk in. The beds and living spaces were very clean. The location was fantastic and the communication was excellent. Everything we needed (wal-mart, aldi, publix, beach shops, several fantastic beaches, restaurants) was either a short walk or 5 minute drive away. The neighborhood is on a zig-zag street, and sheltered from the beachfront by a small waterway, so it doesn't create much beach traffic despite being a short walk away. Nice and quiet. We had some questions prior to arrival and they were answered responsively.
I already addressed with the owner privately, but there were a couple issues which he promised to address in the future. Neither were the sort that could be addressed immediately, so therefore I didn't take away from my overall rating. There was some evidence of mice, underneath the kitchen sink. There was also some sort of allergic reaction, which all five of us had at some point, that we traced to the shower. My best guess would be that there's mold or mildew present, but it affected all of us mildly even though only a couple of us typically have allergic reactions. The owner has stated he will do some work on it in the next few weeks.
