Katys Oasis

Best place to stay coming in or out of San Jose. But not because it is near all services. A short walk to bus, train or convenient to the airport (5 min). Not for the amazingly clean, quiet and comfortable home atmosphere. It is because of Katy. She is a wealth of information and an oasis of kindness. She truely loves travelers and it shows.

It is close to the airport. Price for dorm was fair. Owner was very welcoming and helpful. Would stay again if I make it to Costa Rica.

Overall, Katty runs a welcoming, clean, and comfortable hostel that I would highly recommend!

I enjoyed staying here because Katty made me feel comfortable and welcomed. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the kitchen and living space had a nice atmosphere. I plan on staying here when travelling to San Jose in the future!

The only area for improvement would be the shared room I stayed in didn't have a window. However, I understand with the location of the room and the building that a window would not be possible so I did not mind. I believe the private room has windows so if you do want a room with a window it is possible, just ask Katty.

La atención y amabilidad de Katty fue estupenda. Me recibió a la noche, ordenó mi cena por mi y a la mañana siguiente preparó cafe para todos y pudo brindarme consejos sobre el vecindario y los alrededores de San José. Volveria y lo recomiendo 100%

Lovely host and close to the airport

Katty was the sweetest woman and made me feel super safe and comfortable. She helped me find food in the local area when I arrived and then made me coffee in the morning. The kitchen is fully stocked as well - feels like home.

The dorm room didn’t feel the cleanest - I think there were cat paw marks on the upper bunk. I was on the bottom so it didn’t matter but just gave me less clean feels.

We had a fantastic experience with Katy, staying with her was a wonderful way to start our trip!

The place itself is adorable. Modest, filled with Katy's own art, and Katy herself is a gem - incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

Honestly, there isn't anything that bothered me about our stay.

Perfect stay close to the airport

Really nice room, shared kitchen with all the necessary. Nice bathrooms. Owner was very kind and nice, she helped us organising a last trip to try to see the volcan poas and other nice things guided by a friend of hers. She gave us plenty of advice and prepares good Costarican coffee for the guests in the morning. She also booked a taxi for us to the airport in the early morning!

amazing owner & perfect for stopovers close by the airport

Location is great for a stopover near the airport - there wasn’t many places to eat close by but we ordered on Uber eats instead. The owner is amazing - extremely welcoming, helpful, and even got up at 3:30AM to make sure we got our taxi to the airport.

Katty was so welcoming, so lovely and helpful. She organised our taxi to the airport the following morning and walked us out to say goodbye. The accommodation is very homely and secure, with everything you need. Really close to the airport (under 10 min drive) and is about 6 dollars. Definitely recommend!

Comfortable, Clean, Caring staff and lovely view in the kitchen.

Host greeted me at the door with the taxi, checked me in, gave a tour, made me tea, and scheduled a taxi for in the morning. Was a lovely end to a long day traveling. The morning she made us coffee and made sure we got a taxi okay. Would definitely stay there again :)

Parking was tough because it's a neighborhood and there wasn't a big sign.

Katty, the host, was really kind and helpful. She gave us a lot of advices and tips of nice places in Costa Rica and the showed us a nice local bakery. In the morning you can see a lot of beautiful birds out of the terrace.

Katty was the best, she was so welcoming and even got up at night to make sure we get to the taxi at 3am which she called for us. Overall for the price the perfect place to stay after/ before your flight. Also the place was spotless clean.

great stay with a fantastic hostel owner

Great location for airport travel with some great local restaurants close by. Safe and quiet area. Great hostel owner, Katty helps with everything including very fair taxi rides to the airport. would highly recommend for anyone coming to or from San Jose airport for a night. Just one more is make sure you have either dollars or cash but there is also an atm close by.

Slightly tricky to find in the dark but no major issues, just follow the air b and b signs on the wall.

Great beginning of the trip and it will be the end of this trip as I already booked it before my flight back.

The property was close to the airport in Alajuela which is much more pleasant place to stay than San Jose. The owner is very sweet and helpful. The place is cleaned regularly. It’s walking distance from the town where you can find all the places to eat and shops if you forgot something. There’s coffee in the morning or tea if you prefer.

It’s not obvious where it is so I got a little anxious that it wasn’t where google was showing but it is exactly there.

Good spot close to the airport for a quick homey stay.

This was a great spot close to the airport. Katty was so helpful from the moment I arrived and gave me great recommendations for the area, as well as great company! I felt like I had a family member here, and you can't put a price on that while solo traveling.
