About this cottage rental
The Boathouse is an efficiency cottage that accommodates 2. It has everything you could ask for in a romantic cottage getaway. The Boathouse is a waterfront cottage located on the shore of Hodgdon Pond, a fresh water pond on the west side of Mount Desert Island. Hodgdon Pond is very quiet and peaceful and is bordered by Acadia National Park that protects the watershed from future development on the east side of the pond. From the front deck, you look right out over the beach area and dock where there are kayaks, canoe and rowboat for the free use of our guests. The dock and use of boats is shared with one other vacation home.
Amenities include: The efficiency of one room living area with a queen size bed, kitchen with dinette, range and refrigerator and two chairs to relax in. The separate bathroom has a new walkin shower. There is a land line telephone where cell service can be limited due to the location. Satellite cable TV, and internet is also provided. The spacious deck has an outdoor grill. Newly updated heating and air conditioning system.

The Park has nearly 32,000 acres of land which offers unequaled beauty and ocean front access. Over 55 miles of carriage trails provide hiking and biking with vistas of unrivaled beauty.

We had the most lovely stay at the cabin, tucked away in the woods and right on the water—it was incredible! The photos did not do it justice. We loved the kayaks, row boats, and canoe boat and we had such a wonderful time. We can’t wait to come back!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! This was my first time coming to the Bar Harbor area since having kids and I wanted a place that I could enjoy with my husband on the water but also a place my kids could enjoy as well. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and it was even better inside than I thought. I loved drinking my morning coffee watching the water, having my little ones splash in the water, kayak for the first time, and even catch their first fish. I loved being able to make meals in the cabin when we wanted to save money and also have a short trip to Bar Harbor when we wanted to go out to eat. The view is incredible from the cabin and we loved being on the water and kayaking whenever we wanted because of the available kayaks that are there. This cabin checked off all of my boxes, and I’m so happy I took my family here for our first family vacation and my children got to see why my husband and I love this island so much. I can’t wait to come back every summer to this amazing little cabin!

We had an absolutely amazing stay in early June! We were able to enjoy paddling out on the pond, relaxing to the sounds of the frogs at night, and beautiful 65 degrees, sunny weather every day! We hope to go back soon - the cabin was just perfect!

Great little tucked away boathouse

My husband and I stayed here and loved the boathouse. It was so peaceful and had amazing views of the pond. It's in a great location close enough to downtown areas and hikes but far enough away that it was really tranquil. We also enjoyed staying in for the evening and eating dinner on the dock. The kayaks were also a great touch and we loved our morning paddle. Also, everything was clean, safe, and in working order. This is definitely a spot to return to.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Boathouse! It was perfect for me and my husband. Our biggest regret was not having more time to relax and enjoy the Boathouse property more as we were off exploring Acadia. One of my favorite things to do each night when we returned to the Boathouse was to sit out on the dock area and listen to the frogs in the pond and look at the stars! The night sky is impressive here! We would have loved to have used the kayaks if we would have had more time. The Boathouse had everything we needed. Thank you for sharing your property with us. This place is a gem!
As a side note, there is another house/cottage near the Boathouse, but we did not see the people there, and it did not interfere whatsoever with the peaceful serene setting!

We drove from Missouri with our 37 foot trailer not realizing all the parks for camping would be closed. We almost turned back but decided to leave our trailer in Old Orchard Beach and on a whim, found this lovely peaceful retreat for our brief visit to Acadia National Park. We saw ANP in a day, even hiked. When we came back to our rental the pond was glass like conditions so we pulled our own kayaks onto the water (even though they have plenty of boats for the offering) for a sweet float. The bed is super comfortable but I suggest bringing your own pillow for your personal comfort. The shower is great as well as the other amenities. For such a small space it feels big. The dock just 30 feet from the door was special and it felt like we were in our own little paradise. I would stay here again but I would definitely make it longer!

If you’re looking for the perfect place to refresh and unplug, this is it! It is in close proximity to local attractions while remaining peaceful, as it’s located on a pond/ lake! Don’t pass up this perfect getaway!

My wife and I had a nice stay in this cozy studio in the woods. It's on a quiet pond on the west side of the island approximately half an hour from Bar harbor. It had everything we needed. We will definitely be back.

This cozy cabin was perfect for a week of hiking, biking in Acadia and enjoying the Bar Harbor area. Very efficient space with a beautiful view to enjoy every morning. We were very happy with the accommodations and will hopefully return someday.

This is a wonderful rental! Very clean and in a beautiful location out of the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. Close to hiking trails and shopping. We had a wonderful time but ended up leaving a day early due to the Hurricane Lee. Would recommend this rental if you like a private and secluded area.

Quiet cabin on a pristine pond bordered by Acadia National Park. We enjoyed the kayaks for a paddle with a loon, the misty mornings, and the easy drive to Southeast and Bar Harbors.

The boathouse was perfect for me and my friend! It is a cute little cabin in the woods. It has a beautiful bathroom and a kitchen too. I loved that the cabin looked out on the water and we also loved being able to use the kayaks! Check in process was easy (just beware there is another property with the same address in Acadia area so be sure you go through the VRBO app for directions). It was an easy drive to all the places we wanted to check out and easy enough to go to and from Bar Harbor. I would definitely stay here again!

This is our third year staying here and we keep coming back because it is magical. Being on the water and on the quiet side of the island is such a perfect location for exploring MDI.

Nice property we didnt realize we shared the dock with another unit which really takes away your privacy but the other unit was empty except one night. Bed very comfortable and good towels and bedding. Lights and mirror installed very low for taller people but mangeable.
Location is away from the busy tourist spots which was perfect and its new construction well insulated and wifi was great. Nice kayaks and canoes free to use with life jackets on a beautiful peaceful lake. Enjoyed our time there its romantic and quaint!

The Boat house was exactly as described. Perfect for a couple. Secluded, peaceful and quiet but easy to travel to southwest harbor and bar harbor! Would definitely book this cottage again!

We stayed at The Boathouse on a romantic getaway to Acadia National Park. It was located down a long driveway that led to Hodgdon Pond. The cabin was set in a private setting that despite neighboring potteries felt very remote. We loved getting out on the Pond on the kayaks and saw a bald eagles while out paddling! The proximity to Acadia was wonderful as well. As spread out as the park entrances were, we felt extremely close to everywhere we wanted to go. Seeing Acadia itself from the front porch across the zooms was the closest, with Pretty Marsh a 10 minute drive away. The “main” visitor center was around 25 minutes away. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!!

This place was such a wonderful place to unplug. Loved watching the pond change over the course of each day. So glad to have had access to watercraft, bbq, and a comfortable space to feel safe and able to relax.

We loved visiting the boat house-- it was exactly what we hoped for in terms of isolation, lack of light and sound pollution, comfort, and view. Everything was exactly as depicted online if not better. There was easy access to Acadia National Park and other parts of the island, the pond was gorgeous and we enjoyed the provided kayaks. Looking forward to returning again in the future!

Thank you Stacey we loved the boathouse. Your home had everything we needed for a wonderful anniversary and visit to Acadia. I appreciated having air-conditioning. The shower had plenty of hot water and towels. We really loved Hodgeson seafood up the road. Mike runs a great seafood restaurant. I especially enjoyed kayaking the lake and reading on the dock with my coffee.

Quiet side of the island but still so easy to drive to anything. Being on this quiet lake is so worth it! The cabin is small one room but so cozy and a lovely get away. Our second time staying and we would definitely go back.

Really enjoy the kayaks and row boat. Location to Acadia Park is great. The boathouse was a wonderful experience. Lots of privacy and spectacular views. Plenty of towels and cookware.
