House is about a 5 minute walk to the beach with a beach cart. Bicycle trails for several miles in each direction. We thought we had to bring our own beach stuff, but there were beach chairs and boogie boards already in the house. All the appliances worked and appeared modern. Beach is nice with mostly sand and ghost crabs. (According to my wife, you have to walk a couple of miles to find areas with shells. She likes to collect.) Never had trouble getting a close spot on the beach for our umbrella.
Only issue (which is not because of the house, but anywhere you might rent in the area) is that the roads are inadequate for the amount of traffic in the town. On some days you might get into town faster by bike.

Ralaxing and charming home near the ocean. Short walk to the beach through the back of the neighborhood. We appreciated the beach cart and chairs. Fairly spacious home. Good view of sunsets on the sound from the back deck. Owners gave great tips about Duck. Their communication regarding expectations for check in and check out were well explained and reasonable. We are a family of four, but as advertised, we think it could easily accommodate a family of 8. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked for those who choose to cook their own meals.

Jim did a wonderful job of providing information about the property and things to do. Porch had a great sound view and sunsets. However, an umbrella would have been nice. House is dated and needs cabinet handles replaced as many were missing. Pictures did show a road but traffic was very loud and busy when sitting on back deck. Master bath is small. Kitchen was very well stocked. Property has a nice layout and beds were very comfortable. Weather was perfect.

The Family enjoy the home and had a Great Vacation! The home had everything we needed for our stay and the beach gear and beach buggy cart was very helpful and we used everyday on our trip. The Sunset views from the deck in the evenings were amazing!

The host, Jim, did a wonderful job of providing information about the property, things to do, etc. The property felt more like home than being in a rental. There isn't anything missing that you might need. You can see the Currituck Sound from the deck and just a walk down the gravel road and your on the beach! We really enjoyed our stay and Jim was very pleasant to work with.

A perfect place to enjoy the beach, good eats and relaxation with my daughter. The house was clean and comfortable with everything one needs if you choose to eat in. Beach just a few easy blocks away with regular deer sightings.
Downtown duck just a few miles and you must bring or rent bikes, very friendly paths. Oh and let's not forget Jim, our host who was super attentive and available if needed. Thanks for the use of your vacation home, highly recommend.

House is a perfect location to walk to the beach. Just far enough out of the fray of Duck but close enough to enjoy it's amenities. Homeowner provides a beach cart so that you can roll your stuff down to the beach. House is dated but spotless!

Awesome property
We went for our first time to OBX. The house was perfect size for our family, 5 adults and a 2 year old. Super clean. Super clean, Jim was very easy to reach with any questions. 5 minute walk from the beach and beautiful view if the bay. Right outside the cute town of Duck. We had to cut our stay short due to an emergency back home. Our 5 night stay became a 2 night stay. We would book this house again

Wonderful visit in Duck
We really enjoyed our week at this property in Duck. The home was very clean and comfortable for 4 of us. It is just a short walk to the large, beautiful beach. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. Jim was quick and easy to reach by text. Our only surprise was that the busy and fast Highway 12 bisects the gorgeous view of the sound from the deck. Although the pictures show the road between the property and the sound, we did not realize the extent and loudness of the traffic. I would absolutely rent this home again, but would do so with the full knowledge of the fast traffic on the busy street that the porch overlooks.

Good stay
We were very pleased with our stay at this property. The deck is great and we had excellent sunset views. It is private except for one neighbor. Ocean beach about five minute walk away.
The house was clean and well equipped. Only downsides were the somewhat small master bath shower and a very finicky lock on the main door that was a challenge each time. Homeowner provided beach chairs and cart were appreciated and property manager was responsive when needed. Would stay again.

Third stay was a delightful
This was our third time renting this property. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach each day for sunrise and the evenings on the deck enjoying the sunsets on the sound. Jim and Connie are great hosts and can text Jim anytime. They make you feel at home even if it was only a for a week get away. The house had everything we needed and was in a quiet neighborhood. We will be back again.

5 minutes from the beach
After 20 years of dreaming, I finally made it here. Duck was a perfect tourist location with small shops, but not too many people. Brought our bikes and went into town a couple days. House was perfect for the price, 2 miles north of town. 5 minutes walk to a white sandy beach. Public beach but much less crowded than we are used to. Owner was honest and communicative. We had an amazing time. Definitely I'd stay here again.

Quiet getaway on the Outer Banks
All went very well. Mr. Hill put helpful notes in and around the house as reminders for necessary tasks. He was responsive by text. Location faces the sound across a road, but the view is nice, and it’s a short walk to a public access to the beach. The cart for beach necessities was a nice touch! We enjoyed our time in the home.

The property was exactly as advertised. Clean with everything you could need. Fantastic beach a short stroll away. No overcrowding on the beach.

Beach time in Duck
Unfortunately, we were on the tail end of vacation and only had three nights in Duck, but we had a wonderful time staying at this beach house! It is spacious, well-equipped, and has really comfy furniture 😊It’s a short walk down a quiet street to a beautiful beach. My only minor suggestion would be to maybe provide a few beach towels. We got our beach equipment from a rental company, but because we flew, we weren’t able to bring our own towels. We had a great time, and would definitely stay here again!

Clean and comfortable
The inside of the home was perfect. It’s an older home so it’s a little dated but very clean and very comfortable. Communication was great! I messaged a couple of times with questions and they got back to me immediately! It’s not right on the beach but you can walk to beach access. Convenient to everything in the Duck area. I have been to the outer banks before and I prefer to stay right on the beach but this is a location I would recommend and revisit.

Sea Sound
This property had everything we needed for our stay. You could still hear the ocean even though it is 3 blocks away. The bull frogs and the muskrats in the marsh next door were an added bonus.

Good place for a short stay in the Outer Banks
This house was perfect for our short stay (2 nights) in the Outer Banks over Memorial Day weekend.
It's close to the beach (just a short walk). The house was clean and comfortable during our stay, and there were a lot of household items included (detergent etc). It was nice having the washer and dryer as well as the outdoor shower.
Keep in mind, though, that it is a little bit outdated/could use some updating. The house is right on the main road through Duck and, although there isn't a ton of traffic, it's still pretty noisy throughout the day. This development does NOT have paved roads like many of the others do, so you're constantly going to hear cars coming and going on the gravel roads, and our car was COVERED in dust after a short rain spell. We didn't have the correct lockbox code or wi-fi password when we checked in (but the owner did get back to us very quickly with the correct info). The TV is difficult to use/operate; we gave up after about a half hour trying to figure it out. We did get the DVD player working, though, so at least we could watch movies, and there are tons of games in the main hall closet, which provided some nice entertainment. The bottom half of the house is under construction and, therefore, unusable at the moment. Even though it was Memorial Day weekend, we still feel this particular property was very expensive overall. For the price, it would have been nice to have a golf cart included like we saw on neighboring properties. Also, it would have been a nice touch in our opinion to have the beds made upon our arrival (we had to make our own beds -- the linens were provided but just folded on beds when we got there).
So, overall...we'd recommend this place for a shorter stay in the area or if you're going to be out and about most of the time anyway. Owner is very nice and responsive, and everything is very clean. Very good proximity to the beach, but also close to main road -- so, decide what's more important to you. A bit outdated, but comfortable. Personally, I wouldn't want to stay here for 7-10 days; I'd opt for a house that's a bit nicer/updated and maybe off the main road for a relatively small increase in the nightly rate.
All minor "suggestions," though, and we feel it's a 4 out of 5 property.

Excellent location with beautiful sunsets
This house was perfect for our OBX vacation. The house has open floor plan with a well-equips kitchen. All three large bedrooms had queen size beds. The house has a wonderful view of the sound from the deck and is an easy walk to the beach. Jim is also a great host. I highly recommend this property.
