About this house rental
Welcome to "The Cozy Duck OBX", a 4 bedroom 2 bath cottage in beautiful Duck surrounded by live oaks and with a ground floor outdoor shower. Wake up early and walk 500 feet straight to a direct private street beach access (only for residents and guests on this street; there is no public access) to enjoy that amazing sunrise over the ocean. Downtown Duck is less than 1 mile away, making for a quick walk or bike ride to the famous Duck Donuts, outstanding restaurants, excellent boutique shops, and enjoy the beautiful sunset on the boardwalk on the sound.
Once you enter the house you will instantly be transported to vintage OBX with the rustic charm of beautiful knotty pine paneling. The living, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are all on one level with a bonus loft upstairs. There is a TV with Roku in the living room as well as in the loft area (where there are an assortment of boardgames and children's toys). There are plenty of restaurants in Duck if you wish to avoid cooking entirely during your stay, but the kitchen is stocked for your culinary activities including pots, pans, baking sheets, flatware, glasses, a toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker (bring your k-cups or ground) and dishes. We also have wireless internet to keep everyone connected to school or work.
Our home offers 1 queen bed (firm), 1 full bed (soft), 2 twins and 2 sets of bunks. All updated mattresses, quilts, and linens! It is best suited for small families or groups, but our beds offer flexible sleeping arrangements. Please note the top bunks are for young children only and not adult use.
Enjoy some peace and quiet on the top deck, or chill out in the shade in the porch on the main level. In the front driveway is a basketball hoop and plenty of greenspace for tossing around a football. We do have two Weber charcoal kettle grills and picnic table available as well.
We love our dog and welcome your dogs too (pet fee extra of $150). Sorry, no kitties or any other animals since our children are highly allergic to felines. We do limit to a maximum of 2 well behaved pups and ask that you try to keep them off the beds and furniture. We want our guests to enjoy the lawn, so please also scoop the poop!
Duck is one of the best dog friendly beach towns in OBX. Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round in Duck as long as they are leashed.
This home is strictly for NONSMOKERS (vaping is also not permitted).
There is also a washer and dryer on the ground floor. We also provide a beach buggy, a tent, a shade umbrella and 8 new beach chairs.

The location of this house can not be beat! It is steps from the beach and a easy walk or bike ride from town. We rented bikes for the week and I highly recommend that. There were some maintenance issues that I brought to the owner's attention and she offered to have a handy man come in while we were there but I declined. Communication was great. The place could have been cleaner, the high touch areas were all clean, but it really needs a deep clean. There was also no dresser in one bedroom which was inconvient for a week long stay. The place is a bit worn and dated, but the main rooms are great for games, cooking and hanging out as are the many decks and screened in porch. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you may need. You will not get a better price for the location!

House was clean. Check-in was easy and communicated clearly. Description was accurate and helpful. We knew exactly what we needed to bring with us - helpful when traveling far and with a family. Location is perfect! Close to beach and town center - great for walking to both. Teenage kiddos loved walking into town to get smoothies or ice cream. Would highly recommend!

Property is as advertised. host was easy to work with and available when needed. Home was clean for the most part just had to wipe down the inside of the shower and swept under the bed when we got there. Everything we needed to cook with was there for our use. Outside shower and laundry were nice and ready to use. Would stay here again.

This is a great place to go, park the car, and not get back in it for a week. The beach is a two minute walk and the restaurants and shops in Duck a pleasant walk away. The house is comfortable with several decks and a screened-in porch. Everything in it is pretty well-worn, but it’s all comfortable. Wi-fi and smart tv worked perfectly. Duck is the most dog-friendly beach in OBX and the house is dog friendly too-the outdoor shower is perfect for washing up after the beach.

The property was on a great street with a very short walk to the beautiful beach and short walk into the town of Duck. Great location if you don’t want to get in your car after arriving.
The host was very accommodating and responsive. The only things that weren’t top notch was the house was in desperate need of some updates and repairs. Some of the deck railing was loose, the ceiling inside was peeling and stained and the rugs, couches need a deep cleaning and the beds aren’t very comfortable. It is such a gem just needing a little refresh.

Visited for 7 nights with my boyfriend and dog. Quick walk to the beach and short easy walk to Duck town center. the cottage was more than we needed in size and could easily accommodate two small families. My dog enjoyed relaxing on the porch as well as the dog friendly beach!

They so s a nice house with a smart layout. Very clean considering it is pet friendly. Sure some things could use a little updating but overall is in great shape and an awesome location just off the beach. Beach chairs and toys included made packing easier, the kitchen had tons of pots and dishes, way more than we have at home. Highly recommend if you're ok with a comfy home rather a modern brand new option.

We loved the proximity to the beautiful, private beach. The house had plenty of room for us and having two bathrooms made things easy. The town of Duck was convenient too. We enjoyed checking out the shops. Definitely get a boil dinner and cook yourself some redfish (also called drum). It’s easy and very tasty.

This was a perfect little spot for our family of 7, plus furbaby. It's not huge or fancy but had the space we needed, was clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and the location was ideal. The host was A++ in every way!

We enjoyed our stay at this house and I loved being able to enjoy my morning coffee on the screen porch while listening to the waves crashing. It was like being in a tree house! That said, there are a lot of stairs. Ok for us but it could be a struggle for others. I liked the bedroom and bathroom split also - my husband and I slept on one side of house while my son and his family slept on the other.

We had a great time at the cozy duck over Labor Day weekend! The check in/check out process was very easy. Thought it was the right amount of space for 4-6 adults to stay. Loved that we were a short walk from the beach! And if you enjoy walking a bit more, you can easily walk to shops and food in town. Overall great experience, would recommend!

Family vacation... we needed to be together, but have our own space too as we all have our own lives. Cozy duck was as advertised with multiple decks, porches and rooms to make it comfortable for both. House was clean, modern, upkeep of property was obvious. Cute little plusses such as extra blankets, games and suggestion made it more comfortable. Owners absolutely amazing from start to finish. Organized, friendly and quick to answer any issues. At the end of our stay we were hit with tail end of hurricane. Susan checked in and kept us updated. Check in and out ckean and efficient. GREAT location to beach, which was clean and friendly. Town of Duck was close, amazing and low key. Had everything needed in a compact space. Highly recommend, just go !!!

The Cozy Duck is a quaint little cottage in the most perfect location! So close to the beach and town. It was perfect for our family of 4 and could accommodate even more. This was our first visit to Duck and we would definitely return!!

The Cozy Duck was absolutely perfect in size and location to the beach and shops. We loved that we could walk to the beach and walk or a quick car ride to the downtown shops and boardwalk. We loved Duck!
The house was perfect. Often when a house indicates 2 bathrooms, one of those is for the master bedroom only. This is not the case for this house. There are 4 bedrooms and 1set of bathrooms per 2 bedrooms. I really liked how the rooms were split up on either side of the house. It created space for everyone. The house was cozy and has a great screened in porch where we enjoyed fresh steamed crab and shrimp.
We would definitely stay here again!

My family, my husband, my 3boys, and my grandkids went to Duck for vacation. The host was always ready to answer my question promptly. The house was nice with so many rooms for everyone to relax. We really liked the loft and the sunroom. The kitchen was very well stocked. They have chairs and toys to take to the beach. I know we bought stuff to play at the beach and we left them there. The house was only a few minutes from the beach in a very nice neighborhood. The Internet access was great.
My only complaint is the cleanliness of the place, sheets, pillows, and towels. The wall around the sink should be a lot cleaner, the towels and sheets were very old, and the pillows were dirty and old. It was very hard to sleep on them. There were extra blankets, but they were covered with dog hair. The places could have been cleaner.

The cottage was exactly as it was described. Cozy and clean. Loved the location to the beach and to the town of Duck. Grandsons liked the basketball hoop…and grown ups liked walking into the town of Duck. Very easy check in and check out. Would definitely stay here again.

The Cozy Duck was a great place for our family for our twin teens' milestone birthdays/Mother's Day weekend. The location was GREAT for beach, shopping and dining. We would definitely stay again and recommend the cottage to other families.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Cozy Duck. It was very clean and comfortable, and has one of the best stocked kitchens of any beach house I’ve stayed at. Susan is a wonderful host and was very accommodating. We’ll definitely plan to return!

The location couldnt have been better for us, quick walk to the beach. Although the weather didnt completely cooperate we can't wait to stay here again when the ocean is more comfortable.
This was perfect for a family of 4 and could easily accomodate a couple more people for a couple days.

This property was an excellent find for those that are budget conscious. Everything was as described. While a little dated, it was clean and completely serviceable for our needs. Being only a few hundred yards walk to the beach and less than a mile to shops and restaurants was fantastic! Susan was an excellent host. Always very quick to answer any questions. Susan was very quick and courteous answering any questions.

This was my first time using vrbo and the process was great, communication with the owner was great and the location was great. We really enjoyed being able to hear the ocean from the property and the short walk to the beach. Everything was as advertised.

Good location
We were there for a week with 6 adults total and a dog.it was a short walk to a private beach access. Loved the outdoor space- screened in porch and upper deck. Kitchen had lots of pots and pans.
Although it can sleep 8-10, it would have been very crowded with more than 6. The kitchen did not have any empty cupboards for our food so it all stayed on the counter which made it very messy. I would have liked to have a mirror in each bedroom as there were only mirrors in the bathroom and it was hard for 2 people to be in each bathroom at the same time.
We would stay there again but hoping for there to be some changes

This home was the perfect size for our small family & you cannot beat the location. We were easily able to walk into Duck & the beach felt like it was in the backyard. The host was very responsive & we will certainly consider staying again. Exactly as described.

We had the absolute best time during our stay at the Cozy Duck! Check-in was a breeze and the home was very clean and situated on a quiet and private lot, yet still walking distance to town. The beach was just a short walk away, with a lifeguard stationed right as you walk out. We appreciated the beach supplies, chairs, boogie boards and cart provided at the home. The private shower stall with hot water under the house made it easy to get everyone cleaned up after the beach. The home was very accommodating, especially for those traveling with kids. Lots of games and puzzles provided, the kids especially loved hanging out in the loft space. We loved the open floor plan, and were able to cook lots of meals in the well stocked kitchen. All of the beds were super comfortable, as well. Too many positives to mention! The owner was very responsive and great with communicating from booking thru checkout. We loved our stay at the Cozy Duck and can’t wait to be back!

The properly is very well organized. Beach is nearby. Town of Duck is a gem. Don't miss the boardwalk. Also did the wild horses, wright brothers, and manteo island. All great.
