About this house rental
Ocean Estate on Penobscot Bay is a grand property in a stunning setting on Penobscot Bay, overlooking the hills of Camden, and facing west for the sunsets every night.
It boasts 9,500 square feet of incredible living space, 440 feet of waterfront, and 12 acres of privacy, lawns, and woods. Inside, large rooms, soaring ceilings, skylights, and open water views give a majestic feel. There is ample space for larger families and groups to relax, gather and entertain.
The living room enjoys tall ceilings with Wood Beams, along with a bar with an ice maker, refrigerator, and tub for ice and drinks. There is an additional smaller bar in the upstairs game room size pool table, ping pong table, and card table.
A sunroom offers even more space to spread out and has AC.
A professional, gourmet kitchen has every amenity that you can possibly think of, including a baking station. Very well stocked kitchen with large pots and pans for cooking to a crowd, large serving dishes, 1 6 burner gas stove, 1 jenn air stove with 2 burners and a griddle, warming rack.
There is a separate, formal dining room.
When it is time to rest, there is ample sleeping space with 6 bedrooms and a half baths. The master bedroom is on the main floor, private bath en suite and AC. The Main floor also has a half bath and an additional Full bath right inside the Mud Room. All bedrooms and the sun room have air conditioning which was installed in 2022.
The remaining 5 bedrooms and 3 baths on 2nd floor, and include a secondary living area. Ceiling fans are in every room. 3 TVs have Direct TV. WiFi is also featured at the home. There is ample porch and deck space, where the rear waterside porch faces west enjoying spectacular sunsets.
There is a large, outdoor grilling area with both gas and charcoal grills, with granite serving spaces.
The grounds offer an expansive walking path running adjacent to the Bay, professionally designed to be a continuous blooming experience. So beautiful, it was featured in the Brooksville Garden Tour. The house has an elevated perch overlooking Penobscot Bay, offering fabulous views of the hills of Camden and the island of Islesboro.
Large sailing Clippers are a common sight all summer. A private beach is available on the property during low tides. This has a steep access, so we recommend going to Bakeman's Beach which is nearby to harvest your own mussels for dinner, easily launch your own kayak or small boat, or enjoy a rocky Maine coast beach experience. Water shoes are recommended.
The spaciousness and grandeur of this property make it perfect for large families, reunions, small weddings, and other events.
This home is been in our family since 1988 when our parents designed and originally built. We hope you have some wonderful family memories like we have over the years.
High Chair and full size crib provided.

The roomiest house I've ever stayed in. Had more rooms than people. Scenic and remote. Not much to do but enjoy the outdoors and relax. No issues with wifi and cell service considering. About 1.2 hours to Bangor airport to grab arrivals and departures. Pretty much had everything you need at the house. Would definitely come back again

Perfect home for a family reunion. Lovely views, well equipped kitchen, and fantastic round table in the kitchen which seats 10!!!

We had an amazing week! Everyone enjoyed the private beach at low tide and Bakeman Beach down the road. The views are breathtaking from both beaches! We all loved having our morning coffee on the deck or on the rocks at the edge of the water. We loved eating at Tinder Hearth in Brooksville (it was featured in one of The Lost Kitchen episodes). Make sure to make reservations on Monday morning of the week you want to go. Best pizza!! We loved all our day trips to Acadia, Stonington, Deer Isle, etc, but we loved hanging out at the house just as much as exploring the local towns. We definitely have it on our bucketlist to return one day!!

This is a great house for a large group. We had 12 total. The kitchen is huge and has everything to make all your meals - we did Lobsters twice with the outside set up. The kids enjoyed the upstairs with the ping pong - pool table and plenty of room to hang out. The porch is great to take in the ocean views - and the adults could enjoy a couple of different lounging spots. We got in the water easier at high tide and we brought wet suits. Blakeman beach is a great spot with berry picking near by. The preserve is an easy drive with some good hikes and plenty of spots to get in the water. Just be prepared to be isolated and far away and you will do fine. We also went to Acadia one day and also a few closer excursions. Blue Hill and Walker Pond are recommended. The ACs in the bedrooms help - but if it is above 85 - this is a hot house with the sun pouring on it. If there is a breeze - it will be better. This is a really great house to enjoy downeast Maine and Cape Rosier

Gorgeous views, very spacious and clean. Well stocked beautiful kitchen. However I felt it was misleading because it said it had water access and really it doesn’t because the shore is rocky and our kids weren’t able to go in the water. There is a beach that they claimed was nearby. It’s about 1.5 miles so we still had to drive and they didn’t provide any beach chairs. The kids enjoyed the beach though. . The bedrooms were outdated and the beds especially the twin beds were very uncomfortable and the carpets were outdated and stained. It still a great place for our family to stay, but very remote so probably wouldn’t stay so far away from town next time. It would have been a 5 star property if the bedrooms and beds were updated.

Great place for a vacation with family
If you don’t mind the remote area this house is a wonderful place to stay. Lots of room to spread out. Kid friendly.

Beautiful location, but very remote.
This house easily accommodated our large group of 12, ages 18-65. Plenty of space. It was very hot for our week in August, and the house doesn’t have central air conditioning. So it was a bit warm. The location is gorgeous but it is very remote. At least 45 minutes drive to the nearest store. Restaurants are over an hour away on winding country roads. So bring your own groceries and be prepared to cook. The house is well equipped, but the kitchen sink could use an update. The faucet was very poorly located and too small, so it was tough to wash large pots. The separate ice maker in the bar was really helpful. We were hot and thirsty and went through quite a bit of ice. No access to the water from the house. We went to Bakeman beach (1.5 miles away) to swim. We went hiking and kayaking almost every day. The best part was the lobsterman 10 minutes away. He sells lobsters every day from 4:30-5:30 pm on Cape Weir Road. Just pull down the drive and stay right. Walk out to the floating dock.

Wonderful spot for wonderful memories
We rented this home for our family of 12 to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We had 6 adults and 6 kids from 9 to 18. The home was large and beautifully appointed. There was so much to do in the evenings after exploring during the day. It was a true Maine experience. The game room kept us interacting and off devices. The kitchen is a cook’s dream. It’s quite a distance to restaurants, so we had fun cooking while looking at the magnificent view. The kids all wanted to stay and named it the best vacation ever… and they’ve been in some great vacations! I highly recommend this property. Also, the owner is easy to communicate with and very helpful.

Stunning home on the water
This house was made for entertaining. We had 10 family members spanning 3 generations and the house provided plenty of room to spread out and several places where we could all gather together. The home is exceptional and the grounds are beyond beautiful. Every appliance you could imagine was available, along with an extra fridge, massive laundry room and even a shelf of toys that kept the littles entertained all week. It is very quiet and remote; a good hour and a half to Bar Harbor and 40ish minutes to the closest grocery store. We all loved this home and would surely return.

Beautiful location!
We had a lovely stay in the comfortable home. Wonderful views and outdoor spaces. Plenty of room for us all. The house could use some updates and the kitchen needs new appliances. It was great having two fridges!
The area is spectacular with more lobster and seafood than you can imagine!
Great family trip!

We loved this house!!! We had 4 generations together and the house was perfect for our family. The house was supplied with many items that came in handy. Unbelievable Home!
This home has it all!
Very roomy with beautiful furnishings. All the bedrooms are very spacious with lots of storage. The beds were very comfortable with cozy soft bedding. The main living area is large and airy with a wet bar. It offers spectacular views. The gourmet kitchen is out of this world! You will find all appliances imaginable and a large variety of cookware. The outside of the home offers sitting areas with breathtaking views. We walked down to the water, following one of the homes many paths.
We flew in and out of Portland, ME and really enjoyed the drive to the home. We stopped in small towns and villages along the way. Once there, we did day trips to Bangor, Acadia National Park, and Bar Harbor. Make sure to stop in Trenton for fresh lobster. We brought them "home" and steamed them on the outside burner.
I would recommend this unique spot to anyone who likes to feel like home when travelling! We will definetly be back...

Ocean Gardens lives up to its name! The gardens were spectacular and things were blooming all over the property as well as the gorgeous water views! There were several old timey sail boats with six and four sails that we saw many times in the backyard, as well as lobster boats puttering by and several sea otters in the early morning. The walkways down to the shore had several routes you could take and we took the best sunset pictures nightly. This place was made for relaxation and getting away from it all. Our large family had plenty of room inside to spread out and do our own thing when we wanted to. We had several pool table and ping pong tournaments and a lot of great memories were made. My favorite quiet room was the sunroom. The views are amazing and has very comfy furniture to cozy up to read, meditate or get away from the “family” crowd. The beds were very comfortable too, which my husband with back problems really appreciated. We had a lobster boil one evening and it was great because the house had its own outside pot/heating element and it didn’t stink up the the house or make a big mess. The house was well stocked with staples, you can tell that the owners are cooks. It is in a remote location which we loved! This property should be called “The Gem in the woods”. On the property itself we saw a few deer in the front yard and an eagle that seems to come every morning as well as the usually squirrels, birds and chipmunks. While we were there we rented canoes and launched them at Bakeman’s beach nearby. There are several restaurants, we usually made an afternoon of finding a restaurant for lunch and or an early dinner. Buck’s Harbor Restaurant is the closest to the house and has phenomenal food. Reservations suggested. El El Frijoles, over in Sargentville, authentic mexican food. Mariner’s Pub for pizza. The Wharf in Castine. Marlintini’s in Blue Hill, The BoatYard, in Blue Hill. We had fun finding the best Whole Belly clams for lunch. A great drive to see the scenery and all within 30-40 minutes of the house. Bar Harbor is about an hour and a half drive and a great day trip. Our family loved our time at Ocean Gardens and would highly recommend to any families that want to get away from it all in this spacious luxurious home.

Family vacation
House and property were truly beautiful! It was incredibly roomy, with three very large family gathering spaces inside, in addition to the fully equipped, kitchen and dining areas. We were there with our four grown children, spouses, and 3 young grandchildren. We never felt cramped and the game area upstairs provided entertainment for everyone. Each family had their own private space, and enjoyed the back deck each evening for drinks and watching the sunsets.
Landscaping was amazing, a true labor of love! Something was blooming everywhere, from right outside the doors all the way down to the water. Also, the paths and steps down to the water were well maintained and easy to maneuver. We got some great family photos outside.
The house is somewhat isolated and private, which we loved. It’s a good idea to stop for groceries before heading to the house. The kitchen is well stocked with literally everything you could possibly need to cook anything you want. Thanks for all the staples and baking supplies. The blueberry coffee cake recipe in the Maine cookbook on the kitchen counter was delicious! This lovely home and beautiful grounds definitely deserve 5 stars!
