Great

The Yurt and location are beautifull, the bathroom outside the room is great and perfect for a romantic trip.

The first day we got there the Yurt was quite hot. Also not ideal if you get rainny days.

One of the highlights of our time in the Azores

Beautiful surroundings with incredible views, comfortable accommodation (I mean, it's a yurt, so calibrate your expectations. but it's a comfortable yurt), friendly staff, terrific breakfast featuring ingredients grown on the property

There was some confusion around payments when we booked — the hosts asked for a wire transfer, which is expensive to do from the US and requires information that wasn't provided. Since it wasn't possible, our booking was initially cancelled. I would have gladly paid a premium if I could have just have used a credit card! (In the end, the hosts allowed us to pay the full balance in cash on arrival, but cash is expensive if you need to get it from an ATM with a foreign currency account)

Such a pretty setting

Our yurt was very gorgeous and it was so lovely to have our own private seating area. The shared kitchen with gas stove, charcoal BBQ, and sink was a great asset as well. We loved seeing all the various plants and fruits growing on the property.

I found the bed a bit too hard, but I am a side-sleeper.

Do it, you won't regret it

This place is a little piece of paradise. The owners and volunteers were just the nicest people ever. Very friendly, helpfull and kind. The yurt is just amazing, when you enter it is like you are in a different world. No worries and just serenity. The breakfast was really good, fresh fruits and homemade yogurt was my favourite. The outsite kitchen has anything you need and is a lovely place to cook your own dinner/lunch. The views are mesmerizing, if youre lucky and the sky is clear you can see mount pico. And at night it is a perfect place for stargazing. Overall my best experiences ever.

It is very expensive, especially as a solo traveler because the rooms incl. breakfast are the same price as 2 people. The location is very pretty but there is not much in Urzelina itself.

I loved everything about our stay. The yurt was a one of a kind experience & it being in between all that green made it even more special. Every morning there was a fresh homemade breakfast with products they grew themselves. We got good tips for places to visit & help whenever we needed. I would recommend this place to everyone & if we ever return to São Jorge, then we will definitely book here again. Natacha, thank you for everything! It was a pleasure to be your guest.

Nothing except for the fact that we couldn't stay longer because of moving on to the next island. I wouldn't have minded staying here a bit longer.

Magical getaway place

The location was great, everything closeby and we had the most amazing view over Pico moutain. Hugo and Natasha are lovely people, very friendly and helpful. The yurt was truly amazing, it was build by a Mongolian woman who was a company in Spain. The private bathroom was fantastic. The shared open outdoor kitchen was great and had all the neccessities, including a fire grill & fire wood oven!

The only thing we can think of is that there could be some more lighting provided on the property to reach your yurt.

I wasn't feeling all that well, but the entire experience made a headache easier to handle.

First, the yurts were so unique. Also, Natacha was super helpful and provided restaurant and hiking suggestions. Breakfasts were so delicious and healthy.

Exceptional stay, surrounded by nature!

We absolutely loved our entire stay at Retiro Atlantico! The yurts are quite spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms are a few steps away and have everything you may want/need, all while being surrounded by nature. We took advantage of and loved the communal kitchen, and appreciated the daily breakfasts. Natacha and Hugo were great hosts, providing suggestions and tips. We hope to be back one day!

Great Stay

Amazing property with tons of organic produce. A little oasis in paradise. The property is easy to get to and from main attractions. A lot of the breakfast items are grown/ made by them or are local. The yurts are comfortable inside. The bed is very comfortable. There is enough privacy in between the other yurts. There is a comunal outdoor kitchen in case you want to cook for yourself. Behind the yurt there is a small clothes line.

This point wasn’t a big inconvenience to us but in between the bathroom and the yurt it is not covered. So if it is raining you would potentially get wet going to and from the other. But, in our opinion it is part of the experience.

Exceptional

Birds chirping, the distant barking of dogs, the wind in the trees and the gentle sound of rain on the yurt - that's about all the "noise" you will hear. If you're looking for a place to unwind, this is it! Natacha and Hugo have poured their love and dedication into this project, and the peaceful atmosphere as well as the wonderful breakfast with a view is every visitor's reward!

Love love love!

The yurts are really well done, the bathroom are private and function perfectly (hot water and good water pressure!). Everything was clean and comfortable and quite spacious. It's close to the airport and there is a lot of privacy and a really nice view. The breakfast was all with local / homemade foods - really yummy. The staff were very nice. Overall it was by far the best hotel we stayed in of our entire stay in the Azores. Highly recommend to anyone!

I’m really in love with this place, and with the whole project made it with too much love. The views from the room of pico’s volcano are incredible. And the breakfast, made with natural products from their garden, is a delight. Natacha and Bruno are so lovely. I truly recommend it!

Little-lush-green-comfortable jungle

The shared kitchen is definitely a plus once you're in São Jorge. As there are not many restaurants around and sometimes you just feel like cooking or enjoy a simple meal made by yourself :) Also, the linen sheets and duvets... Loved it!!

A magical experience!!

We loved the whole stay in Retiro Atlântico! Hugo and Natacha are very nice and suggested many spots, restaurants and trails! The breakfast is delicious and made with regional / local products. The iurtas are simply perfect: big, comfortable, clean, well equipped and amazingly positioned with a stunning view. Also the private bathrooms are spacious, clean and furnished with everything you might need. Fall in love with nature and with this amazing place!

Dreamy place

First the yurt is beautiful, perfectly clean. Has place to store your clothes and the bathroom is very clean and spacious as well. Hugo and Natacha were amazing giving us very good suggestions and helping us being very flexible with some alterations. The breakfast was incredible with fruits, honey and cereal, cultivated in Retiro Atlântico. But the best part is the silence and the amazing view to Pico. At night, the sky fills itself with stars you've never seen before. Definitely a dreamy place to return to.

Relaxing place to get in touch with nature!

Natacha and Hugo made us feel very welcomed to Retiro Atlântico. This is a magical place to stay in São Jorge island, as you are in direct contact with nature and a must go to feel relaxed. The yurt was very comfortable and well equiped, and the breakfast was amazing and with a variety of biological fruits grown in their yard. As they are the place with more variety of fruit plants in Portugal, we got the chance to do a tour with Hugo and know more about it! You should definetly choose Retiro Atlântico when coming to São Jorge! Thanks for everything!

Amazing stay in Sao Jorge with a breathless view of Pico and the Ocean

What an excellent choice! We had doubts in choosing Retiro do Atlantico as it is brand new and not many reviews to reference you. Still we took a chance. From the moment we arrived until goodbye, Hugo and Natacha, the hosts, did everything they could to provide you an amazing stay and a glamping experience facing Pico and the ocean right through your eyes. Breathless views at the pace of a fabulous bird singing orchestra that embraces you. The yurts provide all the amenities you could expect and breakfast was delicious! All the best to Hugo and Natacha!
