At Casa Anonna you will enjoy spacious accommodations with breathtaking views, a private pool, expansive and secure gated property for total privacy, an oasis nestled on a hillside away from the hustle bustle of town and tourists in the midst of authentic Vieques neighborhood but still only 5-10 minutes from all the essentials and beautiful beaches.
Casa Anonna is conveniently located on this beautiful small island in the residential neighborhood of Monte Santo, which is mid-way between the two main towns, Esperanza and Isabel Segundo. Its location makes for easy and quick access to all shopping, dining, nightlife, sight seeing and beaches. (Some mode of transportation is strongly recommended.)
From the moment you step foot on the grounds, you will marvel at the spectacular panoramic views of the Caribbean from the unit and your private spacious veranda. You look out upon the northern portion of Vieques and the coast line of Puerto Rico while enjoying your meals, cocktails and your extensive quiet time with refreshing island breezes.
The expansive property is located in a safe and friendly neighborhood but is still secured by a perimeter wall and locked gated entry. Ultimately providing you extra security and privacy to enjoy the exceptional views.
When you explore the grounds you will encounter tropical plants such as Birds of Paradise as well as numerous palm, avocado, banana, papaya, coconut, mango and tamarind trees.
Central to the property is a large private swimming pool with lounge chairs to relax in while taking in the views and perhaps catching an iguana steal a drink from the pool.
***PLEASE TAKE NOTE*** The property consists of three units and this rental post is for the second level of the property. Each unit has its own private entrance and the position of each one makes it feel like a private home.
THIS IS THE MIDDLE LEVEL (2nd Floor) UNIT - with two bedrooms and one full bathroom. There are a total of 3 beds (1 queen and 2 twins.) Sleeps 4 -5 children/adults. There is space for a crib in the bedrooms. There is a twin bed size rollaway available for one additional guest on request only.
The unit has:
- A fully stocked kitchen with cookware and all of the large and small appliances you will need to have the ability to make any or all of your meals at home.
- A living area has all of the essentials you will need for a comfortable stay. There are ceiling fans through out, flat screen TV with DVD player, Dish Network access and WiFi.
- A private veranda/patio with dining table, lounge chairs, ceiling fans and gas grill.
- Each bedroom has an AC unit to ensure a comfortable nights sleep if the breezes and ceiling fans aren't enough. The AC only operates from 4:30PM to 9:00AM and will only keep the bedrooms cool. This unit is not fully air conditioned, if that’s what you require then my home will not work for you.
- Access to 2 beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, and a small soft insulated cooler and jug to keep lunch/snacks/drinks cold!
*** In event of a power outage each unit has a small generator available to power the refrigerator, fans and small appliances. There are also 2 large cisterns for backup water supply.***

It’s all about the views. The property is high in the middle of the island. The spacious covered veranda is large, well equipped with ceiling fans…I could sit out there for days.

My husband, two sons and I were fortunate to experience Vieques from Elizabeth’s lovely family home situated on a beautifully landscaped property with gorgeous views of the water and surrounding area.
Tylar, the on-site caretaker, welcomed us warmly and had many helpful suggestions for all of our activities on the island. We were very grateful for his insider tips which led to a number of memorable experiences and just made things easier with the kids.
The boys loved exploring the grounds, and had fun looking for all the semi-resident and roaming animals (dogs, cats, chickens, roosters, lizards, iguana)! We spent several afternoons and evenings either relaxing by the pool or enjoying the beautiful view from the back patio.
We enjoyed several nights out at local restaurants, many of them suggested by Tylar. Plenty of good food and much to see for such a small island. We hope to someday return!

Great destination for a family vacation. The verranda is amazing. The property comfortable. Loved that there was no TV! The pool is nice. Laundry great. Location perfect for launching to different beaches (with a car!). Note: Take the ferry to the island and stay as long as you can there are so many great beaches and restaurants too.

My family of 4 stayed in the 2nd floor unit for spring break. We absolutely loved our visit, but just wish it could have been longer. We spent so much time on the spacious covered deck at sunrise and sunset. The deck has spectacular views of Isabel Segunda and even 'the mainland.' The roads leading to the house are quite steep, so we were glad to have rented a jeep. The pool and its setting are so relaxing after a day at the beach. The space is well appointed-- the kitchen is large and has what you need. We appreciated the mini-split a/c in the bedrooms. One note is that, when turned on, the light from the mini-split display is a little bright. We appreciated having sleep masks. I also utilized ear plugs when the island roosters seemed to be crowing extra-vigorously to the almost-full moon!
Tylar, the on-site property manager, was very communicative before our arrival. It was nice to have someone around who could give tips on restaurants, grocery stores, etc. After our trip he went so far as to mail me a sweatshirt I'd left behind at the pool!
We would gladly return to this spot-- the views, the deck, the pool, and the central location were fantastic.

Paradise on the mountain top!
My family of 4 stayed in the 2nd floor unit for spring break. We absolutely loved our visit, but just wish it could have been longer. Spent a week on the second floor of Casa Anonna with my husband and 2 teenage boys. Location was great because we were already familiar with the island.
Pros- 1)great to have a pool after long days at the beach (after rinsing in the outdoor shower), 2) view from the balcony was AMAZING! 3) parking with gate was good to keep horses out 4) good to have washer/dryer for clothes and towels 5) manager helped quick when we had a fridge issue 6) sheets, pillows, towels and beach chairs provided 7) wasn’t too noisy in the evening- didn’t hear the chickens too often at all- not like in Esperanza
Cons- 1) had a little trouble locating at first but manager helped with that, 2) the renters (family of 8) that came in the middle of our stay basically took over the pool the last days and just were rude (which isn’t the owners fault) but especially with other guests they invited to the house; loud where we couldn’t hear our tv at times at night; left dishes at the pool the very first evening they were there and pulled out the house parking space like a maniac and almost hit our rented Jeep (we were waiting to pull into the parking area) and also they used all the water the last night we were there and we weren’t able to take showers (rinsed my hair with bottled water) or clean up before leaving.
Next time we would stay at a place that had no other renters. Besides that everything went well and we enjoyed our time on the island.

Good location and great pool

A Centrally Located Haven
My 14 year old son and I spent 5 relaxing nights at Casa Anonna. This well-equipped haven is centrally located. Beautiful view and centrally located.
I stayed here with my wife and teenagers. The view was tremendous, the place was very clean and relaxing. I would definitely stay again. For anyone who has not been to Vieques, there are free range horses and chickens in abundance. The chorus of roosters is non-stop, but after a few hours they become a charming part of the background. I could sit out on the balcony for hours. The breeze on the ridge was perfect. Great place to stay.

We enjoyed coffee in the morning, overlooking a beautiful island. The weather was perfect when we were there. A nice breeze kept us cool. The caretaker was responsive and gave great advice on where to go as far as beaches and restaurants. We loved red beach (saw a marine iguana) and sun beach. Took a tour of the Bio Bay and went fishing. We loved the wild horses and chickens and roosters roaming all over the place!
The place is heavily gated so we felt secure, the pool is lovely and the grounds (filled with banana trees, star fruit, etc) smelled sweet like blooming flowers.
We rented a golf cart to tour the island and honestly we felt a bit ridiculous in the beginning. I reccomend renting a car before hand (yes Elizabeth you did reccomend that. We thought a golf cart would be fun) lol. We loved Vieques and hope it continues to recover.

Stunning View

Great vacation
Our stay on the second floor of Casa Anonna was wonderful. The location is central to the island so that everything was a short drive away. The fans and location on the top of the hill allowed for wonderful breezes at night, we never turned on the window AC units. It was very convenient to have beach towels, chairs, and an umbrella as well as a cooler to bring to the beach all provided. The owner was responsive prior to our arrival and while there the caretaker on site was responsive. I didn’t ask about a coffee maker while there, there wasn’t one in the second floor apartment. The beach towels were hard to dry overnight in the humidity, the second floor doesn’t have a washer dryer (the top floor does). I think there may have been one downstairs with the caretaker that we could have used but we never asked. The pool was clean and well cared for, it was nice to cool off in at the end of the day. The property is gated so it felt secure but slightly inconvienient when pulling the car out and locking the gate. Overall we really enjoyed Casa Anonna and would gladly return.

Great experience!
The house has one of the best views on the island. We have enjoyed our stay there very much. Clean and comfy environment, spacious terrace, fully equipped kitchen, clean private pool. Quiet (!) all roosters are at the bottom of the hill! We would definitely come back to this place!

Fantastic Oasis Getaway
The pictures of this house don't do the property justice. The house is clean and accommodations are perfect. We rented the second floor of the house, which has its' own entrance and private facilities. The balcony has a wonderful view, you can see the ocean and picturesque sunsets. The landscaping is nice as well.
The location is central to the island, so you can get around easily to Isabel and Esperanza and all the beaches relatively easily. The island is amazing, with several beautiful beaches, the bioluminescent bay, and outdoor activities available. I would definitely go back, and wished I had scheduled a longer stay.

Perfect!
This beautiful rental was perfect for our family of four. The house is so well equipped all your cares vanish. It is just like home! It is located right between Isabela and Esperanza so you can get anywhere on the island in minutes. We loved taking in the beautiful views while we drank coffee and had our breakfast on the veranda in the mornings. The property is covered in fruit trees and we enjoyed the pool in the evenings after a tough day relaxing on the beach. The sound of neighborhood roosters made us a bit manic after awhile, but we did our best to tune them out. And we never could figure out how to get air flow through the living room in the evenings so it cooled down. But these were minor disturbances in an otherwise idyllic setting.

Very nice!
My husband, daughter and I loved our stay at Casa Anonna over New Years 2016. We rented the top level apartment of the 3-story building for 7 days. My favorite place was the balcony which looked north over Vieques and in the distance the ocean. Our property was clean, well appointed and well cared for. The mattresses were firm and provided a good night sleep. The kitchen had a generous supply of utensils, dishes and plates. The pool was great after a hard day at the beach and the landscaping was beautiful. We had privacy yet always felt safe. The caretaker who lives on the first floor was responsive and friendly but not intrusive.
The property is in the Monte Santo Hills neighborhood. It is a steep drive to the property. You definitely need a vehicle. Also, this property has stairs to get to the 3rd floor.
We love Vieques and Casa Anonna. We'll be back, for sure.

Casa Annona - Home-like Comforts in Paradise
We stayed at Casa Annona for a month this winter to avoid the terrible weather of Boston. We enjoyed our time at Casa Annona from the minute we arrived. Our apartment, on the upper 3rd floor, was very comfortable for all parts of the day from the early morning time breakfast on the terrace watching and hearing the colorful birds, to a refreshing swim at the pool after an afternoon at the beach, to a tasty dinner cooked in the well-designed kitchen and enjoyed on the terrace watching the sunset over a distant Puerto Rican sky. One more lovely feature of our stay was the breeze that began each morning and cooled the apartment each day and night. Casa Annona is ideally located mid-way between the busy Isabella and the quieter Esperanza, however even more important, it is very handy to the most wonderful beaches in the National Wildlife Refuge. We have vacationed the last three winters in Vieques and have learned most of the ins and outs of the lovely island. Casa Annona has been the best of our accommodations on the island. We look forward to our next visit to Casa Annona.

Beautiful Grounds - Terrific Relaxation
My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed this charming and relaxing property in the hills of Vieques. Pool and grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Kitchen was very functional and has basic accouterments. The views are phenomenal and the large deck out the back is just a wonderful place to have coffee in the morning, BBQ, or top off the day with a drink in the evening. A/C works well in the bedrooms. Be forewarned there is a big hike up the hill from the parking area particularly if you have heavy luggage.
Rated 4 stars due to basic furniture, no television or internet access (unless your cell access works - spotty), beds were a bit uncomfortable, hot water runs out very quickly so difficult for 2 people to shower one after the other. I've stayed in some places that had things like beach chairs, cooler, snorkel gear, etc for guest use - this unit did not. However, for us, none of these things were a major issue.
Overall, the place is a tremendous value for what you get and it certainly provides peace, quiet, privacy and has great fruit trees, shade and an awesome pool. Would rent again.

Hidden gem
When we booked this house, we did so on faith as there was almost no info online from prior travelers. After spending a week at Casa Anonna, I am shocked there are not more raves. This is the second floor of a three story home. Owner on top and full time caretaker below. Nonna is there only part of the year. Still, the unit is so private with a gorgeous veranda and ocean views to die for. The grounds are immaculately landscaped and there is a private pool that only the renters use. The jungle and the wildnerness surround the home. The house is in Barrio Monte Santo. Super close to everything. The kitchen just underwent a full remodel and we were the first guests to enjoy it. It had pretty much all utensils and appliances but no spices or pantry items. The decor is not fancy but is tasteful and everything is well maintained. Nonna went above and beyond and was so kind. She even volunteered to let the puppy I adopted stay with us until we left.
I hesitate to write this only because I don't want this place to get so full we can't go back. We had a perfect stay.

Pleasant Get-away on Vieques
I loved Nonna and Carl's vacation rental. It was clean and provided all the amenities we needed. Kitchen loaded with all the cooking equipment needed to prepare a good meal, clean bathroom--and even a great view from the shower!--and two bedrooms, allowing my husband and I some privacy from our two kids! The view from the veranda was amazing. The eye can stretch across the Atlantic side of the island viewing the mainland of PR in the distance--we enjoyed watching the main ferry come and go each afternoon. The pool was a hop, skip and jump away--I definitely recommend renting a place with a pool just to relax waterside minus the sand--and our kids especially enjoyed the pool. At night, we enjoyed being lulled by the coqui frogs, and in the mornings awoken by the distant call of roosters, which you see everywhere on the island--that and wild horses! Vieques is truly magical due to its blend of rustic charm and Caribbean lure, and Nonna's and Carl's apartment is in a good location because just at the top of the hill from their place one has 360 views of the island, including Sun and Mosquito Bays. Esperanza, a great spot for ex-pats and tourists--is literally a 5 minute drive. We recommend the bioluminescent tour at night. AMAZING! Also, our favorite beaches, Playa Caracas (Red Beach), and Sun Bay were a 5-8 minute drive. Red Beach was THE best, I think. We swam in calm surf with tropical fish. Really cool. Better shade at Sun Bay, though.
The only drawback I can think of to Nonna and Carl's is the mattress and pillows needed updating, but when we suggested this to Nonna, she replaced them immediately. They take their rental seriously and want guests to give them their feedback so they know what needs improvement or a little extra attention.
We DO plan to return to Vieques and would definitely rent this unit again. And that reminds me, we have two, sometimes LOUD, kids, yet Nonna and Carl did not seem phased by this. We TRY to keep our kids' voices low, but if you are a parent, you know that doesn't always happen. Nonna and Carl just seem to go with the flow and want their guests to feel comfortable.
