Overall nice, but some major disappointments.
Booked this stay as the last stop on our Baby Moon to relax just the two of us! We knew this was far from town so intentionally booked somewhere we hoped to feel like we didn’t want to leave. They advertised two restaurants, a swim up bar, and free shuttles into town. Overall the stay was rather disappointing. Pros: - Rooms are large and comfortable with great AC, we found the beds comfy and nice water pressure in the shower. - Food at the Laguna Beach restaurant was tasty and we felt most items were fairly priced. - Front desk was helpful with answering question quickly and booking taxis for us. - Pool was nice and refreshing - although it was dirty. It’s just some bugs and dirt that blows up from the beach - not much they can do. They clean it often and it didn’t bother us. - Free bikes to use!
Cons: - One of the two restaurants were closed, but no one told us. We planned to eat there one night and messaged the front desk when we found it was closed. They told us it would be open the next day and never did. It was closed the entire 6 nights we were there for no reason. - Pool Bar was closed for 4 of the days we were there. No where else on the property or close by to buy drinks. - When we asked about the free shuttle we were told it wasn’t running. The front desk offered to book us a taxi, when we showed up to the taxi it was the shuttle bus but we had to pay for it. There was no free shuttle the entire time we were there, they charged $15 each way to book the shuttle bus as a taxi service. - They had a $5 USD charge for room service which we had no problem with! Since we were far from town we ate a lot of the restaurant food. Even if we ordered and went to pick it up from the restaurant they charged us the $5 room service fee which was not fair. - The resort itself is beautiful but a bit run down. This didn’t bother us at all, but worth mentioning to someone looking for a more luxe stay. - NO AC anyone but your room! Everything is open and has fans including the lobby and restaurant.

My stay was good non the less. I requested a late check out because I was not well and wasn’t able to complete clearing
I liked that I had my privacy and was able to freely move around the property as I liked.
I didn’t like that the front desk receptionist, Karen, was not communicating detailed information about the resort and did not appear friendly. My room was not equipped with a number to contact the front desk which made it difficult to get clarity, unless I could have located a worker walking around to ask.

Superb
This was our third stay at Umaya, and each time was marvellous. The facilities have been improved and look modern and comfy. We want to come back asap.
We had some issues to be fixed and that would make our stay even more comfortable, like the hot tub in our bathroom was not working, and an AC was leaking water.
