The house is beautiful and we really enjoyed the outside deck and view of the lake.
Very spacious house and great place to relax. The host is wonderful!

This is the best outdoor space and view of any place we’ve stayed at in Kiawah. Great appliances, updated bathrooms and short bike ride to the beach. Wonderful stay, great communication from the owner.

We just spent 4 nights at this wonderful home on Kiawah. There was plenty of space for the 5 of us, with room to spare.
This house has so many gathering places within it that we barely even left the property so we could experience all the space!
The outdoor deck is perfect for afternoon cocktails and music, the large dining room table was great for brunch and card playing at night and the den was perfect for morning coffee and conversation.
The owner, Sam, was so accommodating and helpful with all instructions and suggestions for things to do in the area. He was always pleasant and quick to reply.
Would definitely stay here again!

The tendency when looking at places to stay at Kiawah is to gravitate towards the pretty pictures with the most modern décor styles, but I’ve found that there are things that matter and some that don’t. To start, you won’t find a more gracious host than Sam Hunt. You’ll find it in the little things like the numerous assortments of pillows to make sure you have a comfortable night’s sleep, or the best stocked kitchen on Kiawah. The architecture of this home has a way of making sure there is a nook for each of those special family moments to happen; whether it’s a vicious game of monopoly or the grandkids painting on the porch with their grandmother. I cannot wait to come back!

I vacationed with 3 dear friends at this lovely home on Kiawah Island. The place is beautiful, the beds comfy, and the deck is the best. The deck and deck chairs were the only things not perfectly clean (because they are outside!) but a simple wipe down with a wet paper towel and all was well.
Our host Sam was so helpful with communications and we especially appreciated the recommendations when looking to spend a day at the beach. I would absolutely stay here again!

We loved the house and area, we biked every day on the beautiful trials. We plan to visit again. The showers rocked!

We had a wonderful trip and stay at this property! Would highly recommend it!

We had the best experience at Sam's house... The tropical bike trails were our favorite. It is a quick ride to the beach from the property. There is plenty of room in the house to enjoy time together or sneak away to a reading nook. My favorite part was morning coffee on the back porch and the view is absolutely unbeatable. Sam was the best host... He was accessible and quick to respond to any needs or questions. He provided great detailed information prior to our stay and a complimentary guide to help us plan our trip! Sam truly went above and beyond to make our week special. Don't miss out on this one of a kind experience in Kiawah!

We loved our stay on Kiawah Island! The home is excellent on a beautiful piece of property - all within a short bike ride/drive to the Sanctuary Hotel.
This house is perfect for family or friend get always. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy! We will certainly be back on our next trip to Kiawah Ialand.

We have made several trips to South Carolina but, thanks to our lovely host, Sam, this one was the absolute BEST!!
Sam was extremely hospitable, extremely responsive and made sure we enjoyed every bit of our stay. He recommended restaurants, beaches, and shopping. He even apologized for the rain. LOL
The house was extremely clean and supplied with everything you could ever need. The back porch was a welcoming extension of the house. We spent lots of time out there enjoying the lagoon and visiting wildlife.
So, if you're looking for a nice peaceful vacation stay with lots of amenities, LOOK NO FURTHER, THIS IS IT! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay AND IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!! THANK YOU SAM! WE'LL BE BACK SOON!

We loved staying in this lovely home on a lagoon. The owner provides everything you need to enjoy your vacation. Birds and wildlife are everywhere. The beach is a short drive away. Stock up on fresh seafood at Freshfields Market before you reach the gate. You won’t want to leave once you arrive.

Beautiful location! We enjoyed seeing wildlife from the deck and windows. We didn’t see any alligators from the deck, but were able to find them in other ponds on the island. Beach was a short bike ride.

Sam's property was a dream. Very spacious and well kept with a great backyard area overlooking a small private lagoon to spend time at night. The property is in a great location on Kiawah in the middle of the island close to the marsh and a quick bike ride to the beach. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to visit the Island, you can't do much better!

This house is stunning! The owner was a great communicator and so friendly! We would definitely recommend this fine place!

Lovely house, very comfortably furnished, in a section of Kiawah (Vanderhorst Plantation) that has particularly beautiful homes. Kitchen is very well stocked and has modern Jenn-Aire appliances. Bathrooms are fine. Good showers. HVAC worked well. Downstairs master bedroom (queen) is spacious and looks out over the water. All the beds were close to outlets so hooking up my CPAP was easy. Overall, owner's instructions were very complete and owner was always willing to communicate whenever necessary. Property is easy to find, and my navigation system had no difficulty finding the address. However, if you haven't been to Kiawah before and are arriving at night, the thick foliage and lack of street lamps make Kiawah a very dark place and your car's navigation system will be useful.
If I had one suggestion: There are three single (twin) beds in the upstairs bedrooms. They are a bit small for adults. I would like to see Sam (the owner) replace at least one with another queen. Accommodating the three of us with the existing beds was fine, but if my brother and his wife had come I don't think they would have been comfortable on the smaller beds.
So, what makes this house special? The house abuts a lagoon and has a very large deck and screened porch that look out over the water. A large, old Live Oak covers the deck (lots of Live oaks at Kiawah). So sitting on the deck enjoying a morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine is a pleasure in itself. Incidentally, a Chuck Will's Widow sang every night,
Kiawah is great for biking and my daughter biked for miles. My wife and I hiked about ten minutes from the house to the Marsh Island Park which has a nice trail and bird observatory overlooking the marsh.
One disappointment (unrelated to the house). Our favorite restaurant, Red's Ice Box, overlooking the harbor, has closed permanently, I'm guessing because of the pandemic.
But back to the house; an excellent accommodation. Glad we stayed there.

This is an extremely well maintained home with open living areas, and though we were only 3, plenty of room for a family. It was a bit chilly during our stay, but in nicer weather the outdoor spaces in back, from screened in, to deck and path down to lagoon provides even more great gathering options. Though there was absolutely nothing we required, Sam is extremely accessible and responsive. Would definitely look to stay here again in future visits to Kiawah.

We loved our stay in Kiawah! This home was perfect for us - spacious, comfortable, quiet, and not fussy. The five us of could spread out with books, puzzles, Zoom calls, or relaxing by the lagoon. We rented bikes and rode to the beach -- a lovely ride through the neighborhoods. The beach is beautiful with miles to ride and explore. Sam was helpful and responsive. We would love to return!!

This is a lovely house with three nicely-decorated bedrooms. There is a little pond behind the house, and it was very relaxing to sit out there and enjoy the sounds of the birds and bugs. The kitchen is very well-equipped, and the water pressure in the master bath is the strongest we have ever experienced. The owner responded quickly to any questions we had, and provided a list of restaurant recommendations along with things to do.

Ideal spot on the marsh to just sit outside on the deck and watch the birds. Screened in porch so comfortable for breakfast in the morning or even on a rainy afternoon to look at the the beautiful water, trees and birds. Great location to ride bikes anywhere on the island and take different scenic paths to the beach. The house had every accommodation and comfort we could imagine. Hate to leave and can’t wait to come back! Will definitely recommend Kiawah and the house to friends.

This home is very comfortable and a great mid-point for bike riding all over the island. The owner sent clear directions as well as helpful touring tips. Will definitely stay here again.

While the owner was a pleasure to deal with and made things very easy for us in setting up our vacation (i.e. light switches labeled, wi-fi instructions, etc.), we did encounter a couple of problems during our stay. The first was that we saw cockroaches in the kitchen the first night we were there. We alerted Resortquest (management company) and they said they would send out Pest Control to the house. But, they didn't, because we continued to see them throughout our stay.
The second issue has to do with a maintenance crew that came into the house (on their own) to "measure the crawl space." They apparently had a key for the house. They said, "Resortquest sent them to measure, by request of the owner." I'm not exactly sure why they would have to come inside the house to measure something that's outside the house. I was at the beach at the time, but my girlfriend was home alone. They told her, "well, there was nobody here yesterday." We eventually found out that the owner had told them to come during our stay, but were supposed to have notified us. Nonetheless, they should not have been stopping by at all during our stay.
This is our third year vacationing on Kiawah, and we've stayed at nicer places without encountering any problems. Because of that, we'll be staying at a different property next year.

My family spent a week this past July and really enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing sitting looking over the lagoon, looking for Allie the Alligator (we finally saw her near the end of the week). The house has a great layout for privacy, and we enjoyed having both a deck and a screened in porch. The house itself was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely return!

We completely agree with all the reviews posted. We visited Kiawah Island at the end of March 2010 and had a wonderful time. We loved the house! The deck and the porch are beautifully laid out and provide terrific views of the lagoon. The owners are extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. They have even labeled every switch in the house to make it easier for renters. We are already eager to return and would be thrilled to rent from the owners again!

We had a most enjoyable vacation on Kiawah at this property. Accommodations were gracious and comfortable, and owners were 'the best' to make arrangements with for our stay. Lovely, you will enjoy very much. Peaceful and relaxing!
5.0
We were very happy with the house and its quiet location. The décor in the living room was very comfortable, just right for our family. The master bedroom is really pleasant and light, with it's own TV, access to the deck, and a great view of the lagoon. The master bath is spacious, and includes a large Jacuzzi. We loved the comfortable, open design of the living room, dining room and kitchen- perfect for socializing and relaxing together, and the large dining room table was a real plus. The kitchen was equipped with everything you would want for cooking and serving.
The deck was great, quiet and with a view of the lagoon, which is only 30 feet or so from the deck. We rented bikes and had fun biking around the island. There are well-maintained bike trails everywhere, and the terrain is flat- just our speed. We especially enjoyed biking on the beach. The house is not within walking distance of the beach, but it was easy to bike there, just 7 or 8 minutes through some pretty areas. We would definitely return to this house again.

We had a wonderful time at this house when we were on Kiawah. It is just as advertised. Very sunny, open, comfortable, and peaceful. We did spend a lot of time on the deck when it wasn’t dark, and in the screened in porch at other times. The beds are very comfortable, and we loved the view of the lagoon when we woke up each morning in the master bedroom. We found ouselves riding our bikes all over. There are lots of bike trails, and it is easy to get just about anywhere on the island.
