Thank you Shirakabeso for looking after us very well
Breakfast & dinner was outstanding, in terms of amount and quality of food. Fresh wasabi every meal. My husband can't take a few things and another ryokan we booked before we booked Shirakabeso told us they could not cater to us and we should cancel but Shirakabeso agreed (after some initial hesitation it sounds like from their communications) and did a fabulous job customising my husband's menu. The staff were very accommodating and polite and the different baths were great and comfortable. We spent a very relaxing weekend, exactly what we wanted
A bit hard to get to without a rental car. From Tokyo, we took a shinkansen to Mishima, then a local train from Mishima to the end, then we took a taxi from the train station. Also, apart from a short walk to see a nearby bridge, there is nothing to do around the ryokan, i.e. you're always in the property

It was luxurious, gracious, and healing.
The location is in the middle of Izu: fresh water, mountain air, and singing birds. The surroundings were so lovely and so were the very sweet Vietnamese staff. We were fortunate to have our own private bath. The beds were extremely comfortable. The food was COPIOUS and utterly delicious.
They should have real milk for coffee in the lounge and cappuccino from the machine. It would be nice if there was also brandy in the liquor they offer. I found the bath a little tepid, and the water was very nice, though I think I prefer the more healing sulfurous waters. At first I was disappointed that the room wasn't more traditional, but it was so comfortable that I got over it. I felt bad about being served a live abalone that I didn't even eat. That was a little sad.

good
- Food is excellent - Onsen is amazing - Staffs are perfect
- there was a price conflict between the ryuokan and booking.com. It took me 2 hours waiting at the lounge to sort it out.

Awesome! Lovely hotel, fantastic facilities and food, and surrounded by nature.
I loved everything about this place! The public baths were wonderful and scenic (i watched mist rise from the mountains in the morning as i soaked in a giant stone tub). The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was local, traditional and very tasty. The staff were also super friendly and helpful, they even drove us to a local attraction in the morning. Yeah, it was far, but i consider it a benefit as you are surrounded by nature. Highly recommend for a romantic weekend!

Great building with great food but do not go if you don't speak fluent Japanese.
