About this house rental

This charming and recently renovated turn of the century Victorian home has the perfect in-town setting in a neighborhood in the heart of the village of Bar Harbor on a quiet side street. New and comfy furnishings, newly refinished hardwood floors throughout, front covered porch, and a lovely, spacious yard make this an ideal home away from home.

You enter the house through a lovely entrance hall that leads to a nicely furnished living room with flat-screen TV. The living room opens to a charming dining room with an expandable table that can seat up to ten people. The spacious kitchen with all new appliances has a multipurpose island with gas oven & stove top on one side and kitchen stools on the other. The first floor has a half bath and is air conditioned with a heat pump.

The second floor has a master bedroom with a king bed, a bedroom with queen bed, a bedroom with a double bed, a bedroom with two twin beds, and a full bath. All second floor bedrooms have window air conditioners.

On the third floor is a second, spacious master bedroom with king bed, ceiling fan, a second heat pump that cools the entire floor, and a bath with shower. (Please note that the stairs to the third floor are steep and narrow and could be difficult for some).

Outside is newly renovated, covered front porch, and a large side yard with gas grill and outdoor table. Additionally there is parking for up to three cars!

You’ll be within a few blocks of spectacular views of Frenchman’s Bay and the mountains beyond, a short walk to the famous Shore Path, the free Island Explorer Shuttle hub at the Village Green, as well as easy access to shops, restaurants, village grocery store, movie theatres, bike and kayak rentals, and a range of excursions. At low tide, it is only a short walk to the unique experience of crossing a sand bar to Bar Island. When you're ready to venture beyond the village into the rich and diverse beauty of Acadia National Park, you'll find several park entrances within easy reach.

This was our first visit to Bar Harbor. We had a fantastic week not only because of the town and proximity to Acadia, but also this wonderful home. Jean was fantastic to work with and very responsive. The home is immaculate and very comfortable. We had everything we needed and the easy walking distance to town was amazing. We have absolutely nothing but positive feedback and would love to return!

We had such a fabulous stay at Jean’s house! The house was so very comfortable. It had plenty of everything we needed to make us feel at home…extra pillows, linens, blankets, spices…she even left some condiments in the fridge for our use so we wouldn’t have to buy them. The house is right around the corner and within walking distance from everything. It was so nice not having to mess around with parking! We would make our coffee and stroll the town in the morning and have cocktails and play games in the beautiful flower filled yard in the evenings. We had a friends come and stay with us for a few days and everyone had their space. The AC worked very well and the house was spotless. We absolutely loved our week at this house.

The house was perfect for our family. It was nicely decorated, very clean and had all amenities needed. It was an easy walk to the grocery store and to town shops and restaurants and a short drive to Acadia National Park. There was plenty of parking for three vehicles. The owner was very easy to communicate with and was quick to respond to our questions.

The house was beautiful. Fully furnished with every amenity one can think of. Nothing was left to chance. The host was easy to communicate with. Couldn't have asked for better accommodations.

Beautiful, very clean, comfortable home in a perfect downtown Bar Harbor location. We had everything we needed to enjoy relaxing at home, walking to shops and restaurants, and going into Acadia National Park. Jean left an extensive list of favorite places to go, and she was quick to respond when we had a question. Will definitely go back!

The house and stay were almost flawless and perfect for families. Pros: walkability, air conditioning, quality furnishings and well-stocked kitchen, super clean. Good owner communication. The only negative from our point of view is that the VRBO listing at time of booking had the check out time as 10 a.m., but the welcome email from the owner (received two days before the stay) said we had to be out by 9:30 a.m. Overall, highly recommended!

My family has been going to Bar Harbor to vacation for over 3 decades. We have always camped or stayed in a modest 1 room cabin in Southwest Harbor. This year, we traded "The Quiet Side" for convenience and stayed at this beautiful 5 bedroom home for a three generation family gathering. It did not disappoint! Spacious rooms and beautiful kitchen on a quiet street, all within walking distance of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, a playground, and a grocery store. It also put us nearly a half hour closer to all of our old favorite attractions and some new favorites. Even our hard to please family members were blown away!
