The attention to detail from the staff. The food. The room. Horse riding and meeting the llamas.

Hacienda El Porvenir is absolutelly amazing accomodation to stay next to Cotopaxi national park. We loved the premises as it is hidden in the countryside and thanks to its unique and well protected architecture you trully feel like in a different world. World of peace, quietness where you can enjoy the nature and magnificent Cotopaxi volcano. The room was super comfortable, the food was delicious and also their spa is incredible. All the staff is so kind and willing to help you. We also booked a hiking trip and a horseriding trip with them and it was epic.

Incredible property, amazing staff (Felipe & Paula were especially wonderful and helpful), great food and plenty to keep busy. The entire property is beautifully designed and maintained and has a calming and peaceful vibe.

The location at the bottom of Cotopaxi volcano was amazing and we were rewarded with a view of the volcano without cloud for a brief moment! The accommodation was picturesque and the rooms were rustic, but clean and warm. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fine and we enjoyed the horse riding up in the hills very much. We were mainly impressed by the eco-vision of the Hacienda, with its goal to be sustainable and have minimal impact on the environment as well as employing local people and using local produce and selling locally made products. We liked the history of the place.
The food was very basic. We got lost on one of the walks as the signage was not well-placed. The accommodation was not up to the standard we would expect for the price, but very homely.

they have an amazing photographer. This place is old and run down and dirty. It is so over priced and in such a remote area. Not enough information is given prior. They arranged for a taxi for me to leave the price changed three times and kept increasing. A road was closed and the driver got out of the car after I asked him to take me back to the hospital he left for 2 hours out of vehicle nowhere to be seen

I had an absolute blast at the ranch. Great location and spa amenities. The food was very good, and the staff was always friendly and available.
The breakfast would start a bit late 7:30am. Given that many of the visitors are there to either hike or go to cotopaxi washing up early is crucial. Other than that you get what you pay for in this case a 5 stars stay.

Magical place near Cotopaxi. Less than 10min drive from the National Park Gate. Food is exceptional. The Spa is a must-do, fire-heated steam bath (!)
A bit expensive

The hacienda made us feel welcomed and we loved our room.
The information regarding hikes in the area and recommendations were lacking. My partner and I ended up using downloaded trail maps to navigate through the many amazing trails that are accessible from this stay, yet these weren’t shared with us by the staff despite us asking many questions about them. Overall, I’d strongly recommend this place to anyone driving in with a car, but would say to avoid if you are depending on taxis or public transportation, especially if you are trying to visit the National park or have hiking on your itinerary.

An amazing place. If you want to be far away from the noise of the cities and roads this is the place to be.
1 activity should be included in the room price. This is a suggestion not a complain .

Superb location, brilliant views of the surrounding valleys and volcanoes, and very close to Cotopaxi National Park.
Great place generally: made to feel very much at home with excellent food, friendly helpful staff, horse-riding for all skill levels - beautiful horses.
No negatives.

Beautiful place, the nearest hacienda to Cotopaxi. Very picturesque, beautiful location. We went horseback riding which we recommend as it's so chilled to explore the national park with the volcano in the background and no-one else around. Food was nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Mostly we loved our room, very picturesque and cozy, colourful and very big with great toiletries in the ensuite. We even had a log burner which they had on for us and they put hot water bottles in our beds whilst we were having dinner. That was a great surprise as it was so chilly in April.
Unfortunately the road to get there is just awful. We rented a cheap car from Quito, not a 4x4. But honestly it would have been wise to get one or a SUV. The road has got holes and big sharp stones all the way from Machachi pretty much and at some places, we had to stop the car and move some massive stones to be able to drive at all up the road. The road is not tarmac most of the way but it's just a stone road for at least 20k and in some holes, our car got stuck. I wish I had known this before setting up with the car we had. That was not fun.

I start with the feeling: arriving at the hacienda, being welcomed by Felipe and the team, getting a delicious artesanal tea with four empanadas was just perfect. In the afternoon we booked a horse ride. The guide, Jorge, took us with calm horses to a stunnig place - sadly we coudn‘t see a lot because of rain (yes, we got waterproof ponchos). Diner is just high quality, the food is awesome. In the evening, there is a fireplace, where you can read a book till late - super comfortable!
The day after we started with a good bemreakfast and started our booked hicking-tour with Johnny, our guide for that day. We walked 5 hours (incl. Lunch) to a stunning olace with a crazy view over the cotopaxi national parc, we were more lucky with the weather as the day before). In the evening same story, great and tasty diner and book at the cosy fireplace.
All in all an experience we highli recommend to everyone! It was not the cheapest trip, but it was totally worth it! Felipe is a great guy, who helps you 24/7, if needed. Looking forward to visit the hacienda again!
Nothing.

The food was amazing and very authentic! From the locro, jugo de mora, to the steak. The staff accommodated to all our needs and were flexible and helpful. They place hot water bottles in your bed and turn on the heaters for you, which is very cosy and necessary in the cold paramo. The view of the vulcano's around is beautiful. The common area of the hacienda is very nice, with a cosy, well-lit fireplace.
My expectation of the rooms with view were too high. The rooms with view have a nice view of the valley, but most rooms don't face the Cotopaxi and those that do just see a tiny bit of the top because there's a mountain in between.
They don't state in the site that they don't allow you to take the mountain bikes you rent to the Cotopaxi Park and tell you that you need a local guide to enter the Cotopaxi Park by bike, which is not what the guards at the entrance of the park told me.

Breathtaking ranch just north of the Cotopaxi! The staff, the food, the room, the activities, everything was perfect!
Nothing.

It is a very nice looking place, it's decoration and ambiance are perfect for its location. Staff was friendly and overall helpfull. Rooms are big and comfortable. It has a bunch of activities to do. They do their best to be environmentally friendly.
We had our 1 hour SPA use and the SPA has 3 pools and a "temascal" which is like a Turkish Bath. We had our privacy, however the Jacuzzi was literally boiling, the hot tub was a little over war (should have been hotter), and the Turkish Bath didn't hold the vapor correctly so it wasn't as hot as it should have been. And the problem wasn't that these facilities, which look amazing by the way, didn't have the right temperature, it was that staff wasn't available to change it.
