Exceptional

We had an amazing stay at Niyagama House. The house is very beautiful, located in the middle of nature and the staff was incredible nice. We were lucky enough to be the only guests, so that was definitely a bonus. Also loved the pool and the yoga lesson we took. The food was good as well, maybe a bit pricey for Sri Lanka but totally okay in terms to Western prices.

We would recommend to bring your own water as this is charged extra (1,30$ a bottle).

perfect getaway

the peace and quiet I cannot thank Elke (the owner) enough for making my stay amazing .. she is the heart and soul of that place very caring and attentive and supportive in every way possible .. the place is a slice of heaven on earth in the middle of a very calming environment … open space with a magical view .. you are part of nature in a peaceful and beautiful way .. you wake up to the sounds of the birds and beautiful rays of sunlight … I had the most relaxing sleep of my life there .. the breakfast and the food there was soooooo tasty .. my morning yoga and meditation sessions are the perfect way to start the day … I stayed for 8 nights and was so recharged by the time I left xx I loved everything about the place … I had nicely decorated beautiful room with its own theme every room there comes with its own vibe... I was so in love with their bedtime ritual when someone comes to prepare your room for you to go to sleep it felt lovely and like a very cozy addition... I can’t put into words how happy I was there and for sure I’ll come back to visit and recommend it to anyone who wants to detox and disconnect that’s the place for you .. love you Ilka and thank you for everything you’ve done to make my time there super special and for all the lovely staff at the property .. this was the perfect getaway ❤️🌹

This place is just a paradise, you can’t ask for more…. Food was very fresh and healthy, beautiful view from the balcony and nature around was just lovely. We felt very special and lucky to be there. Amazing swimming pool and very friendly staff. If you are looking for tranquility please visit this wonderful place. Chic and unique place with such a big attention to details to make your stay even more special.

Place to go!

Amazing place lost in the tea plantation to relax and refill the battery. The owner of the place is very nice and makes you feel at home with 5 stars services. Yoga session are amazing and the pool is perfect to relax. Massage are also very good such as the food.

Nothing - just important to know that kids under 12 years are not accepted to keep the space quiet and it is remote from city center (15 min by car).

Elke is the perfect host. She gave us some nice tips for Galle and she was always present if any questions arose. The massage was amazing and the location is great. The pool area and the rooms were always kept clean and the breakfast is plenty and delicious. We can definitely recommend!

Calming, high quality hotel that is well worth a visit!

Fantastic welcome, and helpful smiling staff throughout. The hotel is clean and in perfect condition, ideal for a relaxing time as a couple. Thank you to Elke and her team for such a fantastic start to our holiday in Sri Lanka.

It is really hard to find something to not like about this hotel. If we really had to search it would be tje distance from the town, but only 15 minutes in a tuk-tuk and it is calm guarenteed. For us this was what we were looking for. A chair and sitting table would be a bonus in the room we stayed in 'Saphire'.

A slice of heaven. Honeymoon stay

From the moment my husband and I arrived we felt like we were in a little piece of paradise. The place is so calm and peaceful and we were exceptionally lucky to be the only guests here for a couple of days. We stayed for a total of 4 nights. We really appreciated the wet towel and fresh coconut on arrival. We were very kindly upgraded to a balcony room which I enjoyed drinking a cup of tea on each morning and listening/watching the monkeys and the birds. The swimming pool is huge and big enough for exercising in. The food here was very tasty. We particularly enjoyed trying a new Sri lankan dish each morning for breakfast. Janika (waiter) was particularly attentive to all of our needs without being intrusive. The staff in general at Niyagama House are gentle and friendly. Elke is a beautiful soul who has an air of calmness and kindness about her. She has designed a beautiful property that has western comforts yet in the middle of a tea plantation in Sri Lanka with all the beauty of nature this brings. We also enjoyed trying a couple of yoga classes with Elke. She is an excellent teacher and was able to find a style that my husband and I as beginners were comfortable with. I enjoyed these classes so much that I feel inspired to begin regular classes back at home. During our time at Niyagama House we both tried Ayurvedic massages. I had a 60 minute massage and my husband a 90minute massage. He enjoyed his massage so much that he had a second one two days later. Niyagama House was part of our honeymoon stay and the staff went above and beyond to make this extra special for us with flowers on our bed and dinner table each evening. The bedroom itself is big and spacious with an excellent mosquito net so we did not have any bug bites during the night. Everything was very clean. We really appreciated that the bed was prepared for sleeping each night with beautiful flowers whilst we went for dinner. My husband and I have just returned from our time in Niyagama House.

We can't really complain about anything. Perhaps a little more choice on the evening menu would be nice especially for a longer stay but everything was fresh and tasty.

Beautiful hotel with a great pool/garden, magnificent views. The perfect place for a detox weekend.

Great Stay - staff was really friendly and competent. Beautiful scenery - it looks just like paradise with its own tea and fruit plantation. The pool was gorgeous with a magnificent view of the Forrest and wild monkeys in the distance. Also the owners of the hotel are fantastic people!

The location is a little bit far away from anything. You do have everything at the hotel however its not easy to just leave the hotel and explore on foot. You do need to call a Tuk Tuk in order to get anywhere. However if you are looking for peace and quite its a great place.

Niyagama house feels just like paradise

This place is like a small, hidden paradise on earth. We planned to stay 3 nights and extended it to 4, because we loved it! Good place to calm down, do Yoga and enjoy life. Elke is a really good Yoga teacher and offers not only Hatha Yoga and Meditation in the morning but also Aerial Yoga (we really recommend it), Yin Yoga on the rooftop in the evening (with a stunning sunset and view of the stars) and many others. The Yoga- Room has a wonderful view to the garden with the sound of (morning) birds- like in a fairytale. Elke is amazing. She helped us with all our wishes and concerns during our stay. The place it located near Galle, surrounded by tea and the jungle. You can see a lot of birds, at night bats and sometimes even monkeys from the jungle. The food was extraordinary delicious- not only a large selection of continental breakfast but also sri lankan specials. The staff was really pleasant, friendly and accommodating, the room was comfortable and felt like home. The whole place is made with love and we instantly felt good there and never wanted to leave. We will definitely come again – for Yoga, good food and to calm down and let the good vibes touching our souls.

Exceptional

This might sound like a cliche, but staying at Niyagama House helped me shift focus and acquire new knowledge that has helped me to get my life back on track. Suffering from severe burnout, my girlfriend and I decided to end our round trip in Sri Lanka here after being recommended the place by a friend. The beautiful surroundings and architecture, extraordinarily hospitable staff, and conversations and yoga classes with Elke gave us a desperately needed fresh start of the new year. And not to mention the healthy and mouth-watering food! Will definitely return again some day.

The perfect getaway to relax, reboot and connect again! Niyagama House is not only a charming and beautifully designed house but it’s the team that makes this place special. They are there to cater to your every need with such kindness and care. The food is outstanding, yoga and meditation always available and a XXXL pool amongst the trees is just amazing! I would recommend to anyone looking for some TLC!
