Relaxing weekend next to the water

This area is super calm, and great if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. We managed to use the sauna twice, and both times by ourselves, which was a small luxury. The room was small, but super cozy and clean. The decoration in the hotel was really cool!

If you have mobility issues, it can get a bit tricky to get around. The bathroom in the room was lacking some sort of ventilation.

Einzigartige Location mit viel positiver Atmosphäre.

Erreichbarkeit mit Öffis ist kein Problem. Check in war schnell und Unkompliziert. Service insgesamt freundlich hilfsbereit Zimmer war sauber. Frühstück war ok. Umgebung ist wunderschön. Man ist direkt am Wasser und in der Natur.

Zimmer war kleiner als auf Fotos, Suite von Größe empfehlenswert. Leider kein Wasserkocher, kein Kühlschrank, keine Kaffeemaschine oä, keine Steckdosen im Badezimmer, Keine Abstellmöglichkeiten für Shampoo in Dusche. Auch nicht in der Suite. Frühstück war ok, aber nichts besonderes, sehr kontinental. Leider keine schwedischen Köstlichkeiten (diese kann man nur im Cafe kaufen) außer Lachs und Knäckebrot. Am Wochenende waren sehr viele Leute da, führte am Buffet öfter zu Engpässen an Essen und Getränken. Die Anlage ist eigentlich groß und es ist genug Platz sich zu bewegen. Allerdings gibt es immer wieder Events mit größeren Gruppen, wie etwa Geburtstagsfeiern oder Konferenzen, die die Bewegungsfreiheiten und Platzmöglichkeiten etwas einschränken. Strand und Stegteil sind klein aber nett, wenn wenige Leute zu Besuch sind auch ruhig. Entspannung und Erholung gab es nur, wenn keine Familien bzw. Kinder zugegen waren. Wir wurden öfter durch dessen Lautstärke und Chaos gestört und konnten nicht mehr entspannen. Restaurant war generell sehr teuer, manche Portionen leider sehr klein.

The excellent dining experience at Villa Skärtofta, the Art exhibition and collection, the great interior with a mix of traditional and contemporary, the sauna and relax, the rooms.

Very good experience, but with room for improvement.

Loved the staff, so helpful, accommodating, and polite. Not only at main desk, but also the waiters. The food was good too. Wonderful views and surroundings. The bed was very comfortable.

The pillows smelled dusty. It didn't feel like getting into a fresh clean bed. I have never had to pay for a baby crib before. It has always been available for free in my trips. Not very child-friendly in general - for instance, no play areas for small kids.

It was a relaxing stay in pure nature in the luxury of your Gård

Breakfast was very nice, fresh and the staff were attentive..

We found the whole place very beautiful & serene; the tower & billiards room was like in an old palace; lots of sitting areas in the nature & games. I personally was expecting a room without carpets, the rooms pictured on the internet does not represent the reality. Shower is super. Staff in the restaurant and reception were very friendly and open.

Warm welcome with big smile from reception staff, service at restaurant was wonderful (it's W. O. W), food is irresistible. deep thanks to the management

As far I know, the four star hotel room should be provided with minibar fridge, cabinet for clothes, water boiler... etc. Those essential items are missing. In addition to hard matres instead of the provided one. Thanks

Beautiful location! comfiest bed!

This is our 5th visit to Sweden. This time, I chose a hotel outside the city, a quiet but charming place, and that's exactly Var Gard. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast abundant, beautiful location and above all, the comfiest bed ever!

Very nice!

The beds were great. The personal very nice. The view magnificent.

Would have loved to have dinner or lunch in the old house. The big room for breakfast is good for breakfast but not really for dinner. The other restaurant was good for lunch but not really top notch for the dinner. Nothing to visit in April in Saltsjöbaden. No tips at the info desk.

Very nice location, quick access to Stockholm

The breakfast was very nice, fresh, good quality. The bakery products were made in the hotel's own bakery and was very fresh, delicious. The surrounding was beautiful, quiet. Newly opened Cocktail bar with very nice, tasty non-common cocktails. Amazing main building with beautifully restored interior

Very good

Staff were excellent and the location was beautiful.

Room was a lot smaller than expected and was very hot without air conditioning. Transport to and from Stockholm City Center was not the easiest.

Exceptional

We staid in the beautifull suites (Happy & Lucky) in front of the sea. From the bed we enjoyed the magnificent view on the sea. The breakfast is excellent and the hotel offers many activities (kayak...). It is very well located, close to the sea but also close to Stockholm and even Tyresa national park. We will come back !

price is not cheap, especially during our stay (mid august)

A nice weekend getaway

The location was very nice, we loved that its was close to the water and that it was secluded. The staff welcomed us with smiles :)

The selection for food was limited and also the service at the restaurant can be improved :)

Superb

The House bakery is excellent. The location is marvellous. Sauna, ferry in 5 minutes to Stockholm. Design of the room and facilities, a fantastic restaurant for dinner.

I was slightly disappointed that there was no porridge on the breakfast menu. Matrasses are too soft and - extremely disappointing - the double bed is actually two adjusted beds with an uncomfortable split in between. We were woken up by a cleaning lady who broke into our room at 9 am and didn't speak English. How come that cleaning lady came before breakfast?? We were leaving that day after breakfast and expected not to be disturbed util checkout time.
