Privacy with stunning view in safe haven

The view is beautiful, the location is ideal if you want to go to Volterra, San Gimigniano, the apartment are very private, view of the sunset, the kitchen has all the items to cook and everything is confortable, modern while rustic feeling. We would come back.

Their restaurant only opens twice a week (October)

Amazing stay in the heart of Tuscany

We loved absolutely everything !! Amazing family-owned and run property, great hosts. Property is in the heart of Tuscany, with astonishing views. The only regret we have is that we did not stay long enough !

Wunderschöne Unterkunft mit Traumblick

Wir waren vor vielen Jahren mit unseren kleinen Kindern 2 x hier und sind jetzt nach 13 Jahren wiedergekommen. Es ist immer noch genauso schön! Einfach die perfekte Unterkunft mit so herzlichen Gastgebern, dass es mir leicht fällt Bestnoten zu vergeben. Wir hatten eine kleine Wohnung direkt neben der Restaurantterrasse und es war ideal mit unserem kleinen eigenen Garten. Der Pool mit seinem Traumblick ist unglaublich schön und sehr gepflegt. Besonders schön ist es dort zu frühstücken und an einem Abend durften wir dort zu Abend essen. Das war wunderbar! Für uns gehört das Il Defizio einfach zur Toskana dazu und wenn wir wieder mal in diese Ecke kommen, dann nur ins Il Defizio😍

Exceptional

A countryside setting about 20 minutes drive outside San Gimignano. We stayed here to attend the Andrea Bocelli concert at Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico which was 30 minutes drive away. Beautiful building. We had a lovely room overlooking the very large swimming pool and Tuscan countryside beyond. Lovely breakfast. Excellent wifi. Excellent parking. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Everything was spotlessly clean. Couldn't fault it.

Great stay

The breakfast was a good spread and delicious. The pool is exactly like the picture but unfortunately we did not get to enjoy it (as it rained when we were there) The room is spacious.

Best place to chill in Tuscany

Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end. The place is calm and everything is put into place for you to relax. The people taking care of this place are very welcoming and nice, they will make you feel like home. The food was amazing along the rest. We loved the house and the views. I can only recommend this place !

Already want to go back!

From the moment you drive in, Il Defizio is absolutely breathtaking. The property is so relaxing, peaceful, quiet and of course stunningly beautiful. The hosts were so welcoming and accommodating and breakfast was beautiful. We didn’t want to leave this place.

Stunning Tuscan views, delicious breakfasts and delightful hosts.

The view was stunning, it was in a quiet spot, with views across the valley, the infinity pool was delightful. The terrace where we ate breakfast had beautiful views and there was a great variety of food at breakfast. My children loved the hot chocolates. Andrea, the host was so funny and attentive.

The beds were as hard as wood and the pillows were so flat it was hard to sleep.

Almost perfect.

Beautiful view, place was awseome.

Didn't seem to have functioning air con and as a result had to open windows. Then got eaten alive by mosquitos .

Very nice place

Beautiful property in the middle of Toscana, the view is absolutely breathless. Cool Pool area and very nice breakfast hall (cozy cabin style). Room was very comfortable and the bathroom nicely decored. Staff was friendly. Location is great to reach San Gimignano by car (20-25min)

We didn't appreciate that they charged us for towels for the pool (obviously one can not grab the towel from the room for the chlorine water at the pool) I asked the Front desk person for towels for the pool and he gave them to me, without informing that they would be charged later. It came as a surprise later when we checked out. In any other hotel if there is a pool, towels are available for guests, without charge.

Wonderful views, great location, and the best hosts you could hope for.

Rustic converted farmhouse. comes with superb views and beautiful pool. clean and comfortable and near the stunning towns of Volterra and San Gimignano. best of all, Andre and his wife are fantastic hosts who made bookings for us and provided helpful advice. highly recommend.

the beds could be a little more comfortable. the shower also could drain a little quicker

Extremely attentive and very hospitable hosts!

Wow, what a beautiful place to get away and relax in the peaceful Tuscan countryside. The hosts were amazing! We had just arrived from a wedding and didn’t have a car (which I would say you need!). No task was too much - we were provided with taxis when required and they were always happy to help. The room was authentic and spotlessly clean. The pool was beautiful and the surrounding views speak for themselves. We could not rate this place higher!

Our stay at Il Defizio exceeded our expectations. The agriturismo and its surrounding are very beautiful. The owners and their husbands are very friendly and prepared a very delicious breakfast with regional products. Especially thanks to Andrea who made our late check-in possible. From the room, to the pool, to the garden..everything is very well cared of and an idilic place to relax! We‘d love to come back - THANK YOU for your hospitality.

Wonderful family-owned retreat

Rooms/apartments are modern and nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. The poolside and eating area offer the most amazing valley views, pool is great, surrounded by comfortable sun beds, side tables and parasols. Breakfast is good and varied, elaborate lunch options at very reasonable prices and twice a week the family cooks a 4 course meal for those who want to dine in. Again, very affordable prices and amazing home cooking, a real treat! Bar options throughout the day. Always friendly and helpful, this family offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and you’ll find many guests return year after year. Great location near Volterra and San Gamignano, absolutely recommend to stay here!

Relaxing! Tranquil! Beautiful!

It was so relaxing and such a beautiful area. Everyone there was lovely and the atmosphere . It was just so relaxing to sit out by the pool and take in the view and peaceful surroundings. Highly recommend for a couples get away and even families. Very friendly staff.

No real dislikes but i think it would be ideal for a spa as well ;)

Perfect for vacation

We loved everything, we had a separated house, it’s a perfect place to relax, it was quiet, the pool was big had beautiful view. The house has nice furniture and kitchen accessories.

Authentic experience with nice extras (pool, view, etc)

We were very glad we chose to stay here. Except for the few small details it was a very lovely and authentic experience. Very friendly and welcoming owner family. Lovely surroundings. Authentic villa stay with extras like pool. Cosy very nice breakfast with a picturesque view over the property and the valley.

The room interior seemed a bit simpler as in the pictures and bathroom quite old school, with bathtub, bidet did not function during the stay. No tissues in the room, only toilet paper.
